In her first in an urban fantasy trilogy set in San Francisco, Evette Davis has created a “secret society of supernaturals who seek to slow the spread of facism.” Here's a look at what's in store: Olivia Shepherd is a political consultant with a secret: She's an empath, with the power to experience the emotions of those around her. Keen to keep her supernatural abilities hidden, Olivia's world is upended when Elsa, an ancient time-walker, appears in her kitchen, unveiling a destiny she never knew she had. As Olivia delves deeper into the hidden world of the "Others" who lurk beneath San Francisco's foggy streets, she finds herself drawn into the clandestine organization of The Council–who seek to influence humanity from the shadows–and Gabriel Laurent, the enigmatic leader of a realm where vampires, witches, fairies and demons navigate a delicate balance of power. In this episode, we go into Olivia's character, her abilities, and how she finds herself amidst this conflict. Evette shares Olivia's motivation and how she handles this new world that she finds herself a part of. We talk about the fantasy aspect of the story and why she chose to place it in San Francisco, where she lives. We even go into what will be happening in her next two books, but no spoilers here!

The time is quickly approaching, Star Wars fans. Star Wars Celebration 2019 is almost here! What does that mean for this podcast? It means that Matt and I were a little light on topics, but we still managed to scrape together some material for the Star Wars Time Show! https://youtu.be/e0bDK_iAz6M We kick off the show with a special edition of the Top 5 Instagram Pics of the Week. By special I mean that we extended the Top 5 to the Top 9 by adding in a HeywoodPop shot and some amazing shots from the C3P-Bros. We continue our fandom section with an awesome look at how Star Wars ships and space stations compare in size to every day objects on Earth! This video gives great context to the films and also allows the fans to get a more accurate view of the ships and their true size. Next, we talk about a new project from John Stratman that will take the popular Vader Down comic series and turn it into a 2 part, 16 bit animated series! Vader Down is one of the best representations of Darth Vader at his most powerful, so seeing this brought to life in 16 bit glory will be fantastic! Finally, we talk a little about Rian Johnson's new trilogy and how it could be a rebirth of sorts for the Star Wars franchise! As always, make sure to subscribe to the Star Wars Time Show on any and all of the podcast apps you use, and if you can, leave us a review! We appreciate all feedback! Also, give us a follow on our social channels where you can tell us that we are good, we suck, or anything else you may think! May the Force be with you, always.

This week we begin our discussion of the New Trilogy with the first Star Wars film under Disney, The Force Awakens!
In the Disney era of Star Wars, the movies might have the center stage, but when it comes to expanding the universe, the real action is happening in animation. Star Wars Rebels enhanced and bridged the history of the Original Trilogy and the Prequels in fascinating and validating ways, and even re-shaped and the nature of The Force itself. Rebels might've been a "kids show", but as the series matured, it carried itself with an all-ages candor that won over the hearts of even the staunchest detractors. Now the Lucasfilm animation department has shifted gears and are taking on a whole new time period - one in desperate need of deeper storytelling: The New Trilogy.Star Wars Resistance takes place just before the events of The Force Awakens and sees Oscar Isaac as Poe Dameron recruiting a young pilot into a life of spying in Leia's Army. Main character Kaz Xiono has to navigate an outer rim outpost filled with the raddest racers this side of Mon Gazza Speedway. It's a character driven, high octane ride that's a ton of fun right out the gate and here on State of the Empire you can look forward to our episode-by-episode Resistance recaps.Listen in to our spoiler-free podcast on the two part debut, "The Recruit" - hear our hot takes on Kazuda and co. and how far we think this series could go in exploring and improving the modern era of Star Wars stories.Star Wars Resistance's two-part debut hits Disney Channel this Sunday at 10PM EST, with future episodes Sundays on Disney XD.For links and more info, head to the main episode page:http://consequenceofsound.net/2018/10/star-wars-resistances-series-premiere See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
In this episode we discuss Ram Bergman confirming Rian Johnson's trilogy is still happening and that his new series of films will be completely new with all brand new characters. We also get into some of the early info about the Solo home video package, and talk about the next Star Wars video game! We RUNDOWN several other news items like Jabba the Hutt almost having Maul's spot at the end of Solo, and we answer your questions in #AskTheResistance, including whether Jedi of the prequel era such as Yoda and Mace Windu knew about Ahch-To and the original Jedi texts/books?
Is Kylo Ren REALLY a bad guy? Short answer: yes. Long answer: absolutely yes. Join Vic and Linds this week as they tear apart Episodes VII, VIII, and Rogue One.
Let's Talk About Star Wars #22: "A New Trilogy" by Garrett Weinzierl
Last Week's Poll:Would you like to see Meryl Streep replace Carrie Fisher in Episode IX? https://twitter.com/TatooineSons/status/980165461840031744Bradley Hall (@bwhflies) a Patreon supporter of Tatooine Sons and our guest on next week's 10 Questions on Tatooine Tuesday Podcast sent in a couple VERY special questions:1. Bombers opening to space? Why aren't people being sucked out into the vacuum of space?2. Hyperspace tracking mentioned in Rogue One. Tantive IV tracked in A New Hope?In an interview on Happy, Sad, Confused, Simon Pegg said, "I know what J.J. kind of intended or at least was being chucked around. I think that’s kind of been undone slightly by the last one. There was some talk of a relevant lineage for her." In a recent interview, Rian Johnson share thoughts on his new trilogy: "...part of the excitement of it is really trying to hone in on 'what is Star Wars?' What was Star Wars for me the very first time I saw it when I was a little kid? Once you get past the things that are the iconography of Star Wars - once you say, okay, if it doesn't have the Falcon; if it doesn't have someone with Skywalker as their last name; if we don't go to Tatooine, what is it? What is it at its essence? It's a really exciting question, and I think it's something that has to be answered at some point. So let's figure it out." This Week's Poll:Do you think JJ Abrams will make Rey's lineage "relevant" in Episode IX?

Star Wars novels have long been the heart of the galaxy far, far away. This "lived in" sci-fi universe is inevitably left fans dying to know more about its mysteries and covet action figures of obscure aliens from the back ground of Mos Eisley. Now that so much of the expanded universe has been swept away, the pressure is on for new books to step up and fill in the blanks! In this episode Cap, Matt, and Doug discuss the latest Star Wars novels and how they've build on the bigger themes being explored in the new films. We also give you a run-down on what's happening in Star Wars comics present and forthcoming. The connective tissues between the stories of the Original Trilogy era and the New Trilogy are getting stronger as is our depth of understanding about the duality of The Force, the cuckolding of Greedo, and the canonicity of The Star Wars Holiday Special. We also learn how single player campaign for Battlefront II is deeply rooted in exciting stories from across the timeline and get deep into a game industry discussion that casts a critical eye to all the drama coming out of EA games. John Piper believes nothing is more important for his remaining years than to focus on the authority and the meaning and the heralding of God's word.
State of the Empire is Nerdy Show’s Star Wars speculation podcast where we “look for news in Alderaan places”. The Rogue One trailer took the world by storm and tantalized with its Original Trilogy mystique. Even though we've now seen it in action, much about the inaugural "Star Wars Story" is just as shrouded in mystery as it was before. Meanwhile, info, photos and speculation for the still-to-be-named Episode VIII keep pouring in; as does further analysis of the New Trilogy based on clues in The Force Awakens. Join Cap, Doug, Matt, and Colin as they share their Rogue One trailer reactions and the latest news and rumors about the known, forthcoming films (with true spoilers locked safely behind the blast doors). We've got big news for post-Jedi storylines stemming from the novels, surprise cancellations of comic series, new video game announcements, a new Lucasfilm segment, and our fair share of theorizing on what's to come and what it all means in the New Trilogy - for example: just who is Supreme Leader Snoke, anyway? State of the Empire is Nerdy Show’s Star Wars speculation podcast where we “look for news in Alderaan places”. Since last we convened, the Episode VII saga continues to unfold as the balance of power in the universe has once again shifted. Michael Arndt – Episode VII‘s celebrated screenwriter, and our greatest hope for the New Trilogy, is off the project. We don’t know why, nor do do we know much of the circumstances, but we mourn his loss and attempt to put the pieces together as to how this came to pass and what the future might hold. With so many last-minute shake ups for this 2015 film, you best believe there’s a lot of drama and strange rumors circulating. Join Cap, Doug, Hex, and Matt as they search for truth in these dark times… and then kick that gloom out the airlock for what becomes one of the funniest State of the Empires yet! We discuss the latest in Star Wars comics and gaming, drastically different versions of the original films in their infancy, Star Wars: Rebels‘ new villain: The Inquisitor, share our favorite Qui-Gon jokes, and dig deep into eclectic Lucasfilm licensing for a Willow Watch to remember!Learn more about your ad choices.
