The Underground Lounge goes ghostly for Halloween with a special guest who's seen things most people wouldn't dare to imagine. Paranormal investigator and Ghost Brothers co-founder Dalen Spratt steps into the lounge to talk spirits, energy, and the afterlife like you've never heard it before.Dalen breaks down how he went from working wardrobe on The Mo'Nique Show to becoming one of TV's first Black ghost hunters, chasing shadows through slave plantations, cemeteries, and America's most haunted places. He talks about using real tech to communicate with the dead, the emotional weight of helping families reconnect with loved ones, and what it's like to stand face-to-face with energy that refuses to leave this world. From chilling stories about The Conjuring House and Emmett Till's gravesite to exploring the line between faith, fear, and the unknown, this episode balances laughs, deep insight, and spine-tingling moments. The crew keeps it funny, honest, and just spooky enough to make you question what you believe. It's the Underground Lounge Halloween Special, where comedy meets the paranormal and curiosity meets the afterlife. You might walk away believing… or still thinking it's all cap. Either way, this one's unforgettable.

This week on Podcast Like It's The 2000s, Phil and Emily welcome writer Emily Hughes to discuss Paranormal Activity — the micro-budget phenomenon that redefined horror for a generation. Together they dig into the film's scrappy origins, the ingenious use of found footage to build dread, and how Oren Peli's minimalist approach reshaped studio thinking about what a blockbuster could be.From its DIY filmmaking roots to its massive cultural impact, the conversation examines why Paranormal Activity remains one of the most effective and influential horror movies of the 2000s — and how it kicked off a wave of imitators that could never quite match its eerie simplicity. If you want to watch the full video of this conversation, hear bonus episodes, and access exclusive mini-series and behind-the-scenes content, join the Podcast Like It's Patreon community for all that and more.
This Halloween, Paranormal Activity with Yvette Fielding invites you to turn off the lights and step into the shadows for a special night of ghost stories.Join Yvette as she tells two chilling tales guaranteed to send shivers down your spine.First, the legend of The Gorbals Vampire, a dark, blood-soaked story rising from the misty graveyards of Glasgow; and then, The Back Room, a terrifying modern haunting where something sinister waits just beyond the doorway. Both stories blur the line between folklore and fear, between what's imagined… and what's waiting in the dark.So light a candle, settle in, and prepare yourself because this Halloween, Paranormal Activity is taking you somewhere you may not return from.A Create Podcast Hosted on Acast. Send us a textThe air gets cooler, the leaves start to whisper, and our panel is ready to argue about everything that makes Halloween unforgettable. We start where the night really begins: what “feels” like Halloween weather. Is it a hoodie-and-moonlight kind of chill or a rare 70-degree evening that lets you show off your costume without hiding it under a coat? From there, we dive into the joyful chaos of kids' costumes, couple fits, and the eternal split between simple, clever ideas and full-on slasher icons.Candy talk hits hard, because it always does. Reese's reigns supreme—especially the pumpkin shapes—while the mythical full-size bar houses earn top billing on every trick-or-treat route. We trade stories about dentist porches with elite decorations, the dad tax that mysteriously reduces a child's Reese's count, and the unspoken rules that turn a neighborhood into a map of sugar and scares. Between doorbells, our movie stack rolls on: the original Halloween, Halloween 4, and the 2018 reboot for purists; Hocus Pocus and The Nightmare Before Christmas for comfort; Scream and Child's Play for that perfect blend of tension and humor. We also call out the overhyped: Megan, Paranormal Activity, and a few fan favorites that didn't deliver for everyone. Then we go where the fear feels physical: haunted houses and real haunted spaces. Blood Prison at Mansfield, Clifton Hill's terror runs, hometown chainsaw chases, and a penitentiary overnight that blurs stagecraft with the unexplained. Which brings us to the big finish—pick one: ghosts or aliens. This isn't a mistake, meatsacks! I've been wanting to show you some of the new fictional content I've been working on for awhile now. And the week of Halloween seemed like a great time to do it. This week, I'll be sharing five of my favorite Nightmare Fuels with you here on the Timesuck feed, staring with this story I wrote back in March. It's 1989 and a pawn shop owner has found some chilling home video footage of two film students investigating an urban legend set inside a local abandoned insane asylum. Hope you like it! This episode was scored by Logan Keith. We recommend listening with headphones to experience the full effect of all the creepy background noises. If you like this episode, please let us know wherever you rate and review podcasts. For more episodes of Nightmare Fuel - check out Scared to Death's podcast feed where I've been releasing two a month since February of 2024. Thanks!! Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. The Ghost Furnace - Episode 135 "Valley Forge" When you have a location, like Valley Forge, which has such historical and cultural significance, it has to be haunted in one way or another right? Whether it has classical, incorporeal soldiers trying to make it through another day, the spirits of famous figures, footsteps in buildings older than our nation, or simply the everyday haunts which come from day-to-day life. Let alone the spirits of all the people who have come to reverently learn lessons from stewards of the sacred, past and present. Jay Drakulic, Mallory Drumm, and Alex Lee Williams are the filmmakers behind Dream Eater, a Lovecraft-inspired found-footage horror film shot on a shoestring budget in a remote Quebec cottage. When their original project lost funding, they rebuilt it from scratch, turning their setbacks into a creative advantage and crafting an intimate, atmospheric story about dreams, dread, and an unraveling relationship. The movie may be called Dream Eater, but the filmmakers' story is a dream come true; powered by positive word of mouth and support from the online horror community, Dream Eater found a passionate audience and ultimately caught the attention of Eli Roth, who acquired the film and released it under his new horror production banner, The Horror Section.I really loved this interview, I connected with the filmmakers personally and found them to be very cool and inspiring because this story is very much in line with those of The Blair Witch Project and Paranormal Activity in terms of the ingenuity and tenacity among filmmakers who adapt and adapt and don't take no for an answer and get their movies made regardless of anything and ultimately is what this podcast is about.Key TakeawaysTransmutation: Turn limitations into opportunity and never submit to defeat. The creators of Dream Eater originally had a larger-scale, higher-budget project in motion — until the funding fell through. Rather than throw their hands up and walk away, they went back to the drawing board and scaled their concept into something they could afford to shoot. Casting actors was out of reach due to the demanding conditions, so they cast themselves. There's a massive lesson here in adaptability: as a filmmaker, you have to play the hand you're dealt and make the movie you can make when you can make it. Hopefully, the next one has a bigger budget — but regardless of what you're working with, the movie you can make now will be way better than no movie at all.Micro crews need macro output. An eight-person team meant every crew member wore multiple hats. When hiring for crew, it's common for crew members to expect to stay in their lanes — and that's completely understandable particularly in the context of union filmmaking. But on a micro-budget production, the mindset of “that's not really my job” can be radioactive. Your crew needs to be down for the chaos you're about to unleash. But of course, be fair and be reasonable; pay what you can — either in cash or points — but take the time to find a crew that's truly in it with you and willing to wear multiple hats. But here's the caveat, as the filmmaker, you must always be the hardest-working person on set.Find your audience where they already are.The Dream Eater team built buzz through festivals and the online horror community, most notably TikTok's HorrorTok — a vibrant ecosystem of horror influencers and fans. Thanks to a few key TikTok creators, buzz about the film went viral, which got the attention of Eli Roth. When promoting a film, it's essential to know, understand, and ideally befriend the horror community. HorrorTok played a major role in the success of Dream Eater, and it's a reminder that one of the most effective ways to support your art is by authentically engaging with the people who love the genre as much as you do. Understanding marketing is crucial — but connection is everything.Show NotesMovies and Works MentionedDream EaterAsleep (original concept)The Nightmare (Rodney Ascher documentary)DagonIn the Mouth of MadnessThe Blair Witch ProjectEvil...

Everything has to start somewhere. Before the sonic evolution to space-rock on Jupiter and their eventual move to a major label, Cave In was just a group of teenagers trying to find their voice in the East Coast hardcore scene. Born in Methuen, Massachusetts, the band experienced a tumultuous and transitional series of events that helped create their debut album, Until Your Heart Stops. This week we're joined by special guest Dan Thomson (lowheaven) for a closer look at perhaps the most raw and atypical record in Cave In's discography. We'll discuss the last minute addition of longtime bassist Caleb Scofield, how Stephen Brodsky suddenly inherited lead vocal duties, the collaborative recording sessions at 30 Blaine (God City) with Kurt Ballou, and the “skronky” Slayer meets Converge-inspired riffs scattered throughout the album's runtime!Check out Ritual Decay - OUT NOW via MNRK Heavy: https://mnrkheavy.com/collections/lowheavenRecommendations:Cult LeaderChevelleBeastie BoysSWANSSaw (2004)Paranormal Activity (2007)HauntedWeen (1991)Bring Her Back (2025)Sanguisugabogg - Hideous AftermathAFI - Silver Bleeds the Black Sun...Grabbers (2012)D'Angelo - VoodooVideodrome (1983)Gorguts - Colored SandsAce Frehley - Ace FrehleyFollow lowheavenFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/lowheavenbandInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/lowheavenband/Twitter: https://x.com/lowheavenband?lang=enFollow Riff WorshipInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/riffworshippod/Twitter: https://x.com/RiffWorshipPodYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@RiffWorshipPodCheck out our Official Playlists:Riffs on Repeat (Spotify)Riffs on Repeat (YouTube Music)Hits from the Crypt (Apple)

This week Craig and Alex review The Ring! Next week we're watching Paranormal Activity!
Summer's done, and now we're hurtling toward the darkest, coldest days of the year. So forgive us if we aren't feeling ourselves. It's as if an evil force has taken over our souls. ... Could this be what it feels like to be possessed? In the spirit of the season, this episode of "How We Heard It" explores the phenomenon of possession as portrayed in the movies. Your hosts - veteran entertainment journalists and horror-movie aficionados Wayne Bledsoe and Chuck Campbell - compare notes on one of the most lucrative subgenres in the film industry. (John Baker's along for the ride, too, though he doesn't like scary movies.) There are the old-school priest-and-holy-water possession movies popularized by "The Exorcist" franchise (well, at least the first and third installments), and subsequently everything from the "Conjuring/Annabelle/Nun" world to solo shots like "Late Night with the Devil," "Jennifer's Body" and "Immaculate." Then there are location-oriented hauntings and possessions, from "The Amityville Horror" and "The Shining" to "Evil Dead" and "Paranormal Activity." And, of course, curse-oriented movies like "The Ring," "The Grudge" and "Drag Me to Hell." And who can forget that creepy boy from "The Omen"? We've all felt like that kid from time to time.
This movie is straight up scary, y'all! Join Brandon and Jane on their third spooky season selection with the “found footage” style horror flick that made Jane maybe believe in the dark side. We talk about what we would do, who'd we leave behind, and how we'd move out of that house at the first sign of danger. So go ahead and listen, even if you're too scared to watch the movie, you won't want to miss our deep dive into the world of the paranormal! Hosted on Acast. Day 17 – Episode 167: Paranormal Activity (2007)On Day 17 of The Conner & Smith Show's 31 Days of Halloween, I'm flying solo with Paranormal Activity (2007) — the little indie that launched a massive horror franchise. Maybe we should've started our found-footage week with this one, because after the relentless terror of [REC] and Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum, this one feels like… a bit of a snooze. Still, it's impossible to deny how groundbreaking this film was in 2007 — proving that a few cameras, a creaky floorboard, and a whole lot of suggestion could terrify audiences (and make millions). It's horror by minimalism — even if, by now, we've seen it all before.Support The Conner & Smith Show on Patreon here:
Second film, higher budget, more lore – where does the Paranormal Activity franchise go after the runaway success of the first film? Turns out it's another house in suburban California. Twice as scary for 15 times the budget? Let's find out.

Where Shadow People DwellEpisode 457 | October 13, 2025 In Tonight's Episode of Paranormal Mysteries...I'll be returning to the subject of Shadow People. For many experiencers, these entities invoke an unimaginable fear that rivals almost any other type of unexplained phenomena. In fact, since I began the show in 2017, the topic of Shadow People has been one of the most prevalent, and terrifying, types of experiences that my listeners share with me. And although most witnesses fully admit that they have no idea what these things are, or what their intentions might be, the one thing that almost everyone agrees upon is that they are malevolent in nature, and seem to feed off the dread that they conjure within us.(For a full transcript, visit https://paranormalmysteriespodcast.com/episodes)Episode 26 - Shadow People and The Hat Man: https://www.spreaker.com/episode/shadow-people-and-the-hat-man-an-introduction-026--16130496INFO & CONTACTWebsite: https://paranormalmysteriespodcast.comTell Your Story: https://paranormalmysteriespodcast.com/tell-your-storyForum: https://paranormalmysteriespodcast.com/forumSUPPORT THE SHOWPatreon: https://paranormalmysteriespodcast.com/patreonBuy Me A Coffee: https://paranormalmysteriespodcast.com/bmacPayPal: https://paranormalmysteriespodcast.com/paypalFOLLOW & SUBSCRIBEYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@ParanormalMysteriesPodcastSocial Media: https://paranormalmysteriespodcast.com/linksPodcast Source: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/paranormal-mysteries--2321086My Wife's Podcast: https://paranormalmysteriespodcast.com/sleep-relaxation-podcastSOURCESHouse of Shadows Experience: https://www.liveabout.com/encountering-the-shadow-people-2596475Dread Central: https://www.dreadcentral.com/news/37655/exclusive-opening-the-dead-files-an-in-depth-interview-with-amy-allan/The Dead Files: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2012511/Art Bell: https://artbellarchive.org/Coast to Coast AM: https://www.coasttocoastam.com/Midnight in the Desert: https://archive.org/details/Art-Bell_Midnight_In_the_DesertDavid Weatherly: https://eerielights.com/
Four different actors from the 1980s horror franchise Poltergeist died within a 6-year span. Dominique Dunne was murdered. Julian Beck succumbed to stomach cancer. Will Sampson suffered from a degenerative disease. And Heather O'Rourke's death at the age of 12, was deemed “distinctly unusual.” Was it an eerie coincidence...or something more sinister? In this haunting episode of Paranormal Activity, Producer Dom reacts to two spine-tingling listener stories where the past seems to walk, literally, beside the living.First, Daniel recounts a visit to an ancient cliffside chapel in northern Spain, where the air turned heavy and footsteps echoed through empty aisles. As the chapel door slammed shut behind them, Daniel and his partner were left wondering if the souls of lost sailors still roam those sacred walls. Then, Emma shares a chilling encounter on a lonely beach in Cornwall. What began as a peaceful sunset walk turned into a nightmare of invisible footprints and a tide that moved with eerie intent. Was it just the sea… or something waiting beneath it?Two stories. Two sets of ghostly footsteps. One unsettling question: Who? Or what is following?A Create Podcast Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
Could unknown energies be linked with spontaneous human combustion? On this episode, we trace the eerie patterns of unexplained fires that affect not just humans but animals as well. Drawing on the work of famed researchers, we explore the theory that these mysterious burnings may align along invisible ley lines, suggesting a hidden geophysical force that could be responsible for this unexplained phenomenon. From people found consumed by inner fire to livestock and pets inexplicably scorched, as documented by Jenny Randles in Spontaneous Human Combustion and Larry E. Arnold in Ablaze!, the evidence hints at a strange energy connecting these events. We follow the trail of fire to uncover whether the Earth itself could be the unseen spark behind these baffling flames. Then for our Plus+ Members we explore the stunning follow up to Children of the Greys and hear how their sinister hybrid program is still in effect. Good Boy is what we are reviewing this week on Horror Movie Talk. Also, I will be saying good boy a lot on this episode. Stay tuned. Synopsis When his owner Todd moves into rural home, a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever named Indy starts noticing strange shapes in the shadows. Told completely through Indy's point of view, we see as supernatural forces increasingly grow more menacing and seem to affect Todd. Indy proceeds to stare blankly and do very little to warn Todd, but who can criticize that face? Review of Good Boy Good Boy's charm relies solely on its premise of being a supernatural horror movie told completely from a dog's POV. It's the type of premise that entices you, and makes you wonder how they are going to pull it off. In this case, they barely make a case for a feature length movie. The highest praise I can give this film is that it is a spiritual successor to Paranormal Activity. There are a lot of lingering shots that exploit the Eye Spy/Where's Waldo genre of that franchise. Another good aspect is the score, which is perfectly sparse and effective for the mood of the film. While it is engaging to look at a cute dog for a while, the lack of compelling plot developments makes it feel like a short film stretched to its breaking point. The film is filled with similar scenes of Indy seeing figures in the darkness creeping towards him interspersed with some genuinely good jump scares. All the while, Todd is getting sicker and more of an asshole to Indy throughout. The implied explanations for the haunting and Todd's decline are many and non-committal. It could be a cursed house, or environmental factors. Or maybe that giant entryway into hell in the basement. Or it could just be cancer and the specter of death. Unfortunately the film never really lands on one and leaves them all open to interpretation. However, the regular expectations for hollywood polish should be tempered with the fact that this film was never really meant for a theatrical wide release. In reality, this is an extremely high quality low budget independent film that performed so well at festivals that it earned a wide release. If this was only released on streaming, it would be declared a hidden gem, but in the bright lights next to big budget releases, this film is outclassed. All that being said I do love the underlying narrative technique and did enjoy watching Indy's exploits. The hour and 12 minute runtime does feel long at times, but somehow I am still left wanting more, and hope someone picks up this gimmick and makes a truly great dog POV horror movie. Score 6/10
Elementary School Spirits, Something Upstairs & Face in the AsylumEpisode 456 | October 6, 2025 In Tonight's Episode of Paranormal Mysteries...I'll be featuring several experiences that are a bit shorter than others.
