Brett McMurphy spent many years in the newspaper business, and before the Internet took hold his deadlines were once a day. Now there's a deadline every minute when your job is breaking news in the ultra-competitive world of national college football media. One summer a few years ago, there was supposedly nothing going on and McMurphy thought he scheduled a good time to play golf at the iconic Pebble Beach. Turned out not so much. The bombshell of USC and UCLA joining the Big Ten came out of nowhere, and McMurphy found himself playing the Pebble Beach Par 3 course with a phone glued to one ear. He ended up typing out his story on his phone while sitting on a bench before he played the 18-hole course. McMurphy, part of the On3 Network, joins the podcast to talk the life of always being plugged in and always trying to find the next scoop.
10x PGA Toiur Champions winner Steven Alker and caddie Troy Martin share how they work together and talk through each shot on the PGA Tour Champions. Troy also talks about how special it was that Steven invited him to play Pebble Beach for the first time in September.
Click here to share your favorite car, car story or any automotive trivia!Learning manual transmission is nerve-wracking. Learning it the day before driving your first car across the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance podium at age 11? That's how classic car dealer Colleen Sheehan started. Her first car was a 1930 BMW—nicknamed "Sputter"—that her father took as commission when a collection buyer said, "I don't care about that car." Colleen got it at age 8. At 11, she earned 3rd in class at Pebble Beach.Sputter is extraordinary: wooden frame, cable brakes, 35 mph top speed. "If you hit a possum, the whole thing shatters...and the possum walks away cussing." Possibly the oldest BMW in America. She owns 2 of the estimated 4-5 in the US.That passion led to Next Generation Classics, her California dealership specializing in Enzo-era Ferraris and exotic cars. While her twin brother chose computers, Colleen chose restoration, sales, and the collector car world. She names all her cars: Lancia Delta Integrale rally car "Guido," Tahoe "Betsy," second BMW "Putter."Her dream car? Ferrari Competition Daytona 365GTB4c —only 15 ever made.Philosophy? "I tell people I haven't made my best wine yet" - Tom MaloneThe Marys are on location in Amador County in California's Sierra Foothills! On the podcast today, plein air is a French term for painting outside in a natural environment. Well, you'd be hard-pressed to find a more picturesque spot to paint than our location today. We are at PleinAir Vineyards, one of Amador County's newest wineries. This is a small, intimate winery started by husband and wife team Tom and Sarah Malone, with an eye for design and a taste for good wine. We're excited to have Tom and his consulting winemaker Steve Leveque (whose pedigree includes Mondavi, Opus One, and Hall Wines) here to paint the picture of PleinAir for us.Tom and Sarah were in the home remodeling business, renovating houses with a French country flair. They bring that design aesthetic to their winery, filled with items Sarah finds combing through French markets, and the winery's motto- Casual, Rustic, Elegant - reflects this.At PleinAir there's a certain je ne sais quoi vibe here, inviting you to slow down and soak up the wine country lifestyle in chic style. So pop a cork, pour a glass and dream of enjoying wine plein air.

#184 - What does it take to conquer the American Ninja Warrior course? For Colton Skuster, the journey began as a 10-year-old jumping over exercise balls in his basement, dreaming of someday tackling those iconic obstacles himself. At just 20 years old, Colton has already competed in three seasons of American Ninja Warrior, reaching the National Finals in Las Vegas and proving himself against competitors twice his age. His path wasn't straightforward – from training in a monkey costume to building his own backyard obstacle course during COVID lockdowns, Colton's determination never wavered.During our conversation, Colton pulls back the curtain on what really happens behind the scenes at ANW. We discuss the intense application process where personality matters as much as athletic ability, the nerve-wracking experience of stepping onto the starting platform surrounded by cameras and crowds, and the surreal moment when producers reveal obstacle courses competitors have never seen before. You'll discover how competitors train for challenges they can't predict and the split-second decisions that determine success or failure on national television.Beyond the competition itself, Colton shares profound insights about finding purpose after achieving a lifelong goal. "You reach one goal, you're satisfied, it's amazing, you celebrate," he explains, "and then you think – how can I take this further?" This wisdom has led him to mentor younger athletes, speak at high schools, and even caddy at Pebble Beach alongside celebrities like Michael Phelps.Whether you're a fan of American Ninja Warrior or simply someone searching for motivation to pursue your own challenges, Colton's story demonstrates how passion, friendship, and resilience can transform dreams into reality at any age. Everyone is interested in something embarrassing, and for many people, that thing is disc golf. Now, the fact that everyone has something like this SHOULD make us more accepting of each other, and prevent us from making fun of these things. It should, but it doesn't. Anyway, this week's episode is about disc golf.

Nicole Rae from Skratch Golf is in the studio to talk about the Ryder Cup. They hosted us for our trip to Pebble Beach as well. Jerry returns for his final update of the day, but first Gio gives us alcohol prices for drinks at the Ryder Cup.
Nicole Rae from Skratch Golf joined in-studio to talk Ryder Cup and Pebble Beach. Jerry's final update had Yankee and Met highlights, plus Micah Parsons on sacking Dak. The Moment of the Day was Al's new song, and WFAN's Brian Rascona checked in from the Ryder Cup.
Hour 1 We started with a great night of baseball for the locals, with the Yankees clinching a playoff spot and the Mets coming back to beat the Cubs. It felt like a special night for the Mets. And where is Keith Hernandez? Is he sick? Jaxson Dart is starting for the Giants this weekend at home against the Chargers. Even though Russell Wilson had a great game against Dallas, he threw terrible interceptions last week. Jerry is here for his first update of the day and starts with the sounds of the Yankees beating the White Sox and clinching a playoff spot. We heard the sounds of Howie Rose as the Mets came back to beat the Cubs as Brandon Nimmo had a 3-run game tying HR. Francisco Alvarez homered in the eighth which ended up being the game winner. Al actually had a new song about Jaxson Dart. Mike ‘I'm a man, I'm 40' Gundy was fired by Oklahoma State. In the final segment of the hour, WFAN producer Brian Rascona told Gio that Ken Griffey Jr was walking around the Ryder Cup and nobody seemed to notice him. Hour 2 Jaxson Dart is getting the start for the Giants this week. Nobody really talks about the pressure a quarterback faces in their first real NFL game. Boomer brings it up, but you don't hear many other people talk about it. It's different from the pre-season. Boomer likes Dart's attitude compared to some of the other rookie QBs that came to the Jets and Giants. Jerry returns for an update, but first Gio wonders if the teams being bused back and forth for the Ryder Cup are listening to the show. Jerry starts with Ian Poulter criticizing American golf fans. Brandon Nimmo hit a game tying 3-run homer as the Mets beat the Cubs. Francisco Alvarez ended up hitting what ended up being the game winning HR. The Yankees beat the White Sox and clinched a playoff spot. The Guardians have overtaken the Tigers and former WFAN Adam ‘The Bull' was so excited he made a weird noise. In the final segment of the hour, a caller wonders if Daniel Jones will get a big contract in Indianapolis (he will hang up and listen). Hour 3 We started the hour with the Jets as they play in Miami on Monday night. One of these teams is going to be 0-4. There is pressure on Mike McDaniel and Tua. In 2 of the 3 games, the Jets were very competitive. A caller wonders why the Giants even brought Russell Wilson in if they had already signed Jameis Winston. Jerry returns for an update and starts with Howie Rose and the sounds of the Mets beating the Cubs to get back in charge of their own destiny. Brandon Nimmo hit a game tying HR and Francisco Alvarez hit the eventual game winning HR. Jerry compares ‘douche bag says what' from the 1990s to ‘Boomer will cream pie me' from this morning. In the final segment of the hour, we talked about Gary Cohen's comments last night about a Cubs player missing a game to attend Charlie Kirk's memorial service. We continued arguing about the phrase, ‘control your own destiny'. Hour 4 Nicole Rae from Skratch Golf is in the studio to talk about the Ryder Cup. They hosted us for our trip to Pebble Beach as well. Jerry returns for his final update of the day, but first Gio gives us alcohol prices for drinks at the Ryder Cup. Jerry starts with the sounds of the Yankees beating the White Sox as Caballero had a walk off single. We heard Howie Rose on the call as Francisco Alvarez homered making it 9-7 Mets. Micah Parsons was asked how it will feel when he sacks Dak this weekend. The Moment of The Day: Al has a new song, reminding Gio of marriage. In the final segment of the show, WFAN producer Brian Rascona checks in from the Ryder Cup.
Jon Summers is the Motoring Historian. He was a company car thrashing technology sales rep that turned into a fairly inept sports bike rider. On his show he gets together with various co-hosts to talk about new and old cars, driving, motorbikes, motor racing, motoring travel. In this episode, Jon Summers is rejoined by his son Ollie to co-host and share their experiences of the Pebble Beach 2025 event. They discuss their time at the Monterey Historics at Laguna Seca, camping adventures, and the main Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance event. Highlights include favorite car categories, memorable encounters at the campsite, and insightful observations about the evolution of the event. They also touch upon the less traditional aspects of the show, such as encountering supercars and unique vehicles like a bedazzled Aston Martin Valkyrie. The episode concludes with reflections on how the event has changed over the years. ==================== 00:00 Pebble Beach 2025 Review 01:26 Camping Adventures at Laguna Seca 02:16 Trackside Fun and Mishaps 10:27 Nighttime Challenges and Rain 13:28 Morning After and Departure 14:17 The Pebble Beach Concours Experience 16:02 Exploring Casa Ferrari 18:00 Concept Cars and Highlights 18:40 On the Lawn: The Main Event 19:48 Cobra Class and Other Features 24:20 Changes at Pebble Beach 25:44 Supercar Sightings and Final Thoughts ===== (Oo---x---oO) ===== The Motoring Podcast Network : Years of racing, wrenching and Motorsports experience brings together a top notch collection of knowledge, stories and information. #everyonehasastory #gtmbreakfix - motoringpodcast.net More Information: https://www.motoringpodcast.net/ Become a VIP at: https://www.patreon.com/gtmotorsports Online Magazine: https://www.gtmotorsports.org/ Copyright Jon Summers, The Motoring Historian. Boomer is out today so it's Gio & Jerry. Gio is going to see Dua Lipa at MSG tonight and now his wife might be bailing on it because she has a cold. The Mets set an MLB record for number of different pitchers used in one season: 46. That number will tell you how bad the pitching has been. With Tyrod Taylor starting this week, he is the 40th to start a game for the Jets since Joe Namath. C-Lo is here for his first update but first we tried to name as many Jets starting QBs as we could. C-Lo has the sounds of the Yankees beating the Twins as Trent Grisham hit 2 more home runs. The Mets lost to the Padres as Machado hit a grand slam. Aaron Glenn talked about Tyrod Taylor starting this week. He also said, ‘big ships turn slow' and they're going to ‘chop wood'. In the final segment of the hour, our match at Pebble Beach with Skratch Golf has been posted to social media and YouTube.

In the final segment of the hour, our match at Pebble Beach with Skratch Golf has been posted to social media and YouTube. Hour 2 Joe Benigno calls in as we want to see if he can name the 40 Jets starting quarterbacks since Joe Namath. He did not get all 40. I think he got 23. C-Lo returns for an update and starts with the sounds of the Yankees beating the Twins thanks to two Trent Grisham home runs. Juan Soto missed a game tying home run by inches as it went foul in the Mets' loss to the Padres. Manny Machado hit a grand slam. Dave Sims and Suzyn Waldman got into a disagreement about saves in NY vs saves in Pittsburgh. In the final segment of the hour, we talked about ABC suspending Jimmy Kimmel indefinitely. Hour 3 Andrew Thomas is trending toward playing for the Giants this weekend against the Chiefs. The Giants defense has to do much better than they did against the Cowboys. After the Chiefs, they have the Chargers, so they could be looking at 0-4. C-Lo returns for an update and starts with the sounds of the Yankees beating the Twins as Trent Grisham hits 2 home runs. Manny Machado hit a grand slam as the Padres beat the Mets. Aaron Glenn talked about Tyrod Taylor getting the start for the Jets this weekend against the Bucs. In the final segment of the hour, Gio is going to see Dua Lipa at MSG tonight, and his wife may be too sick to go. We talked about how great Afrin is. Hour 4 We talked about announcers and whether you watch a game or turn a game off because of who the announcer is. Gio also asked Jerry if he cares who wins the MVP, in regards to Aaron Judge and Cal Raleigh. It seems like the award is more Player of The Year and not MVP. C-Lo returns for an update and starts with the sounds of the Yankees beating the Twins and the Padres beating the Mets. A number of coaches have commented, and don't seem worried, with Tom Brady's relationship with the Raiders. Aaron Glenn said ‘big ships turn slow' and they are ‘chopping wood' to get the defense improved. He also said Tyrod Taylor is not a ‘celebrity quarterback' and is just ‘one of the guys'. Baker Mayfield also talked about working with Taylor on the Browns. Gio thinks Baker is already penciled in for the NFC offensive player of the week. Kyler Murray apologized for wearing a Michael Vick jersey while posing with his dog. The Moment of The Day: Suzyn Waldman & Dave Sims battle on saves in Pittsburgh vs saves in NY. In the final segment of the show, a Bucs fan said that Tyrod Taylor has been a ‘Buccaneers Killer' every time he faced them. We did some research. He's 2-0 against them and last played them 8 years ago, so let's relax. We talked about kids laughing at ‘6-7' and tried to figure out why. A guy named Brady Cook will back up Tyrod Taylor on Sunday for the Jets.

Gio has no idea what to expect from the Mets the rest of the season. The good news is they're still in a playoff position. A woman calls in to see if Boomer is going to the Bengals Ring of Honor game, as she has tickets. Boomer said he thinks he is going. Jerry returns for an update, but first we got to watch some of the footage from Skratch from our match at Pebble Beach. Jerry starts with the sounds of the Chargers beating the Raiders as Geno Smith was picked 3 times. Jim Harbaugh talked about having ‘multiple guys open' on every down. The Bucs came back to beat the Texans. Aaron Glenn met the media after watching the tape and talked about the loss to Buffalo. Brian Daboll was asked about the soft defensive coverage that let Dallas score to tie the game with seconds to play. JJ McCarthy is out this week and it could be 2-4 weeks. The Yankees were shutout in Minnesota, 7-0. The Phillies clinched the N.L. East. In the final segment of the hour, the Dolphins are a 12 point underdog against the Bills and it's only week 3. If they get whooped in Buffalo, Gio thinks they could fire Mike McDaniel. We talked more about Tom Brady being in the Raider's coach's booth last night. He's doing the Bears/Cowboys game this week and then the Bears play the Raiders. Boomer said Ben Johnson shouldn't talk to him.
Hour 1 We started with love for Baker Mayfield and the disbelief of what the Browns did when they got rid of him for Deshaun Watson. Boomer loves him some Tom Brady, but him sitting up in the Raider's coach's booth with headsets on is ‘B.S.' Jerry is here for his first update of the day and starts with the sounds of the Chargers beating the Raiders. We heard from Jim Harbaugh after the game. The Bucs beat the Texans in the early game. Aaron Glenn talked to the media and compared the Jets to building Legos. Brian Daboll talked about having to be better all around. The Yankees were shutout in Minnesota, 7-0. The Mets host the Padres tonight. In the final segment this hour, we talked about the injury to Joe Burrow and rumored quarterbacks for them. He's doing the Bears/Cowboys game this week and then the Bears play the Raiders. Boomer said Ben Johnson shouldn't talk to him. Hour 3 It should piss the Mets off that they were leading the division earlier in the year and last night the Phillies were celebrating the NL East title yet again. I guess it's possible for the Mets to catch fire the rest of the season and into the playoffs. A caller thinks Brian Daboll's approach to the media will get him fired. We also talked about the resurgence of Daniel Jones in Indianapolis. Gio wonders how Boomer thinks Carson Wentz will play this week for the Vikings. Jim Irsay's daughter has been on the sidelines with a headset on and a clipboard. Gio wonders what's on her clipboard. Jerry returns for an update and starts with the sounds of the Chargers beating the Raiders. Pete Carroll was asked about Tom Brady's involvement with the Raiders coaches. The Bucs came back to beat the Texans in the final seconds of the game. Todd Bowles talked about the Bucs run game. Aaron Glenn met the media and talked about the ‘outside noise' and said this isn't ‘instant coffee' and that things take time. Adam Schein talked about how bad the Bears are, considering he thought they would be good this year. In the final segment of the hour, Boomer did change out the coffee in the back and then he told us Robert Redford and Eddie Giacomin passed away. Hour 4 Gio wonders what's worse, decaf coffee or non-alcoholic beer. We took a lot of calls from people who drink decaf and want to fight Gio about it. Jerry returns for his final update of the day and starts with the sounds of the Chargers beating the Raiders to improve to 2-0. Jim Harbaugh talked about it being a ‘blue collar game'. Aaron Glenn met the media and compared the season to Legos. He also said a season is not ‘instant coffee'. In the past Robert Saleh called the NFL an ‘instant coffee' world. C-Lo returns for final update and starts with Mets beating Mariners at the Little League Classic. Rob Manfred talked geographical realignment. Joe Benigno on Saturday morning had a caller for 13 minutes complaining about the Mets. Clint Frazier said Yankees drag out injuries. Gronk & Edelman both like the over 5 ½ for Giants wins. Finally, Gio praises Jaxson Dart as an NFL QB prospect, and a caller thanks them for the Pebble Beach trip. Hour 3 Gio thinks Jerry will have an issue with Pete Alonso writing “down goes Straw” on his 253rd home run ball but Jerry is ok with it. Gio says there was no reason at all to include that. They agree that Pete definitely didn't have any negative intentions when he wrote it. Gio wasn't a big fan of Gary Cohen's call of the home run but Jerry liked it. C-Lo returns for an update but first Gio asks him to chime in on the Pete and Darryl Strawberry debate. The Mets and Yankees are a combined 6-17 since the trade deadline. They're hanging onto playoff spots by one game. It's been a dark two weeks. Chris “Mad Dog” Russo was bothered by the Mets celebration of Pete Alonso's 253rd HR and Gary Cohen's call of it. Gio doesn't agree with Dog but he thinks the pregame celebration after the record-breaking game is unnecessary. In the final segment of the hour, Gio and Jerry wonder if Pete's home run ball will stay in the Mets Hall of Fame at Citi Field or at his home. A caller wants Jeremy Hefner fired. Gio says it could happen after the season but Jerry would put the blame on the players and David Stearns before Hefner. Hour 4 The Mets and Yankees both suffered frustrating losses. They discussed Pete Alonso becoming the Mets' new home run king and a "get right" night for both the Mets and Yankees. C-Mac and Keith debated Alonso's future with the Mets, with C-Mac believing Steve Cohen will ensure Alonso stays, and Keith feeling last night's game solidified it. They also touched on Clay Holmes' struggles and the Mets' starting pitching concerns. C-Lo's update highlighted Alonso's historic homer. C-Mac and Keith also discussed Gary Cohen's call of the home run and Francisco Lindor's key bunt. C-Mac and Willie discuss the teams' struggles, with C-Mac noting star players are failing and Willie suggesting they need to regain momentum. C-Lo's update covers the Mets blowing a 5-0 lead and the Yankees' Old Timers' Day win. Discussion includes Andy Pettitte in the booth for Grisham's HR, Jason Alexander shutting down the Yankees, and C-Mac's view on the Yankees losing a series to the Twins. A caller expresses pessimism about New York sports, and Willie asks C-Mac if the Yankees are too analytical.

The SNY Jets crew had to swim to their hotel after their car flooded, a situation Willie luckily avoided by being in the studio. C-Lo spent the weekend in Nashville, and C-Mac is grateful Willie knows what lederhosen are, unlike Jerry and the rest of the crew. Jaxson Dart had an impressive pro debut, and Tom Brady's statue was unveiled. The hour concludes with C-Mac telling Willie he'd prefer Dart to sit the entire year but acknowledges it will be difficult if he continues to play well, reminding Willie of the "FIRE IDZIK" signs from 2014. Hour 4 The hour began with a discussion of Shedeur Sanders' strong preseason debut, noting that Giants and Jets fans would be concerned if he became a good NFL QB, as both teams passed on him. Neither local team's most important player is their QB, and the Giants, though not necessarily good, can't be awful. C-Lo provided an update after C-Mac shared stories about his wife's job, their dating history, and a failed gift. Roger Clemens informed Dave Sims and Suzyn Waldman of Mariano Rivera's Achilles injury at Old Timers' Day, leading to a segment on the Yankees needing an attitude adjustment.
