It Happened at the Temple - Pt2 - God has a Plan - For decades, God and His Temple were ignored by the people as they suffered under a wicked King. When the new King turned out to be a little boy, things looked even worse. But God had a plan to bring about revival for the nation through this boy King. He always has a plan, no matter how dark things may look. However, Israel's revival died when Josiah died. We can't hope for a charismatic leader to guide us to a better day. We must cry out to God for our own hearts to change.
Daniel Kang, VP of finance at Mercury, joins CJ for a dive deep into the nuances of annual planning. Dan talks about why if annual planning feels like a finance exercise, it is destined to fail and will feel like pulling teeth. He describes how to use this exercise to lead a broader strategic discussion about a company's direction for a process that is more impactful and less tedious. Dan also highlights that if you're searching for big ideas during the annual planning process, there may be underlying issues with your company's roadmap or innovation processes. He touches on the idea that planning tends to expand to fit the time allotted, explains why most companies spend too much time on it, and warns against the trap of false productivity. The conversation delves into how the planning process evolves with a company's growth, including how to calibrate for each stage and ensure plans are actionable. Throughout the episode, Dan provides frameworks to streamline annual planning for a successful outcome. If you're looking for an ERP head to NetSuite: https://netsuite.com/metrics and get a customized KPI checklist.—SPONSORS:Mercury is the fintech ambitious companies use for banking and all their financial workflows. IN THIS EPISODE: Zombies are everywhere in pop culture – films, television, gaming, memes, etc. It's all obviously make-believe, but is it possible for an actual zombie apocalypse to take place in the real world? (Could a Zombie Apocalypse Really Happen?) *** Did our ancestors fight and survive an ancient zombie apocalypse? Can a zombie apocalypse really happen, and if it does, what are our chances of survival? (Zombie Apocalypse in Ancient And Modern Times) *** The idea of a zombie apocalypse has been a fascinating topic of horror films, television, and print ever since George Romero's “Night of the Living Dead” in 1968. But it's complete fiction, of course. Right? If so, why does the Pentagon have a plan for it, just in case? (CONOP 8888: The Pentagon's Plan For a Zombie Apocalypse) *** He appears as a man or skeleton or described as a shadow, often atop a cart for collecting the dead. Other versions have it that he is the first dead person of the year, charged with collecting the others' souls before he can go to the afterlife. He is said to drive a large, black coach pulled by four black horses; accompanied by two ghostly figures on foot. He is known as Ankou. (Ankou: Deliverer Of Souls To The Underworld) *** They were described as flat-nosed with wide nostrils; thick eyebrows and sunken eyes. Their mouths were of ‘prodigious width' with thick lips and prominent jaws. The Australian Aborigines regarded them as another people entirely – they called them the Yowies. (The Australian Yowie) *** Shadow people seem to be a growing phenomenon. But what are they, what do they want? And most importantly – how do you get away from one? (What You Should Know About Shadow People) *** A little girl's imaginary friend appears to her mother as shadows in the basement. (My Imaginary Friend) *** The story of the Detroit “Occult Murders” is one of the strangest in American crime. It's a story of black magic, murder, and a clever and enterprising man who came to Detroit with a strange dream. (The Detroit Occult Murders) *** It's been described as part kangaroo, part horse, part bat, part bird, part reptile… what exactly is the Jersey Devil? (Unmasking The Jersey Devil) *** Why have so many classical composers died upon composing their ninth symphony? (The Curse of the Ninth Symphony) *** The RMS Queen Mary is now retired – but it appears some of its passengers and crew never got the message. (Ghosts Of The Queen Mary) *** Could the imaginary friend of a brother and sister not be their imagination? (My Great Grandparents' Home) *** In the 1600's, a witchfinder was given whatever he asked for, for fear of him declaring those who refused a witch. But how he chose to test one woman for witchcraft is enough to make your stomach turn. *** A young couple discover a radio… with a mind of its own. *** A strange ball of light enters the room of a young man, with no explanation to be found. *** Sheldwich is typical of the small rural hamlets which litter Kent, but in some ways, is far more unique and strange, one could almost say, weird.SOURCES AND REFERENCES FROM THE EPISODE…“Zombie Apocalypse In Ancient And Modern Times – How Realistic Is An Infectious Disease Outbreak?”: http://ow.ly/lGOV30a5tLr and “Mysterious Skulls Linked To An Ancient Zombie Apocalypse”:http://ow.ly/C08v30a5uR7“Could A Zombie Apocalypse Really Happen?” by Brent Swancer: https://mysteriousuniverse.org/2018/05/could-a-zombie-apocalypse-really-happen/“CONOP 8888: The Pentagon's Plan For a Zombie Apocalypse” by Wyatt Redd: https://allthatsinteresting.com/conop-8888“What You Should Know About The Shadow People”: http://alien-ufo-sightings.com/2018/08/what-you-should-know-about-shadow-people/“Ankou: Deliverer Of Souls To The Underworld” by A. Paul David Tripp has written, “In the family, life is brought not only to our doorstep, but into our kitchens, bedrooms, and dens. In the family, life is happening all around us, and it begs to be questioned, evaluated, interpreted, and discussed. There is no more consistent, pregnant, dynamic forum for instruction about life than the family, because that is exactly what God designed the family to be, a learning community.” Pastor Ray begins a new sermon series on the family and will share a message titled “God's Plan For the Family.”

My ‘SHIFTING' season 'To everything, there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven:' Ecclesiastes 3:1 Do you find yourself appearing to be in the same situation, going through the same thing year after year? Don't be shocked it is not because of the devil, it is simply because when God shifted regarding His purpose, most believers stayed in the same spot. But today, we declare, decree and command that when God shifts, we will shift! {Deuteronomy 1:6-8, 1 Samuel 16:1, Psalm 32:8} Shift Lord Shift Lord Shift Lord Shift! ❖ When I was typing this word as God was downloading it in me, at one point in time I wanted to use an exclamation mark, however, when I went to do it, I had to hold down a particular key before I was able to use it!❖ The shift key is a modifier key, it is used to type capital letters or upper characters. There are normally two shift keys.We must shift in every area of our lives: To shift means: it is time to change course en route to our destination. The change, of course, is not insinuating that the creator needed a Plan-B, the change of course was already factored into the creator's Plan- For your life.Support the show

As much as it might be difficult to believe, you are not your intellect, your power, your success, your ability to fit in at a party. You are not your ability to be happy, or healthy, or rich. It's your weaknesses that bring you into the upside down of God's values. When we let go of control, when we open our hands we are, as Richard Rohr writes,”in a very creative and liminal space where God is most free to act in our lives.” And that is faith: letting go of control, believing that the life of weakness is actually the life of the Most Blessed. Stilwell's resume includes stints at Mad TV, Family Guy, American Dad, and DC Comics. She has worked on various other shows for the CW, Fox, and Nickelodeon, and she is the creator/writer of Sasquatch Detective published by DC Comics. PODCAST - Blueprint for Success – Young Startups by Dr. Celeste Fabrie This podcast is dedicated to you if you are thinking of starting your own startup company. Great advice for Generations y and z! I will be giving you an overview of the most important dos and donts of the business as well as giving you some good advice. • But first of all let us define what a Blueprint for Success really means. 1. Let us focus on the word „Blueprint“ According to the Cambridge Dictionary a blueprint is a (PLAN FOR the FUTURE) or a complete plan that explains how to do or develop something: 2. Very concise. But what does success mean? Cambridge says I quote: the achieving of desired results, or someone or something that achieves positive results. Now it becomes even more challengeable: • What does „Start Up“ mean? According to Cambridge: The term startup refers to a company in the first stages of operations. Startups are founded by one or more entrepreneurs who want to develop a product or service for which they believe there is demand. Generations y, and z are the focus of our discussion today. We will begin with the term Startup. Startup became a popular term in the 1990s and early 2000s business boom with brands like Microsoft or Apple scaling up at a faster pace than ever seen before. Thus, it's also safe to assume that the first startups were the Silicon Valley companies, Startups encounter several unique options for funding. ... Venture capital firms and angel investors may help startup companies begin operations, exchanging cash for an equity stake. In practice though, many startups are initially funded by the founders themselves. We have a lot of digital natives out there who want to be no 1 in the business with their new creative and innovative ideas: For many of you the quicker the better. But this is where the problem often lies as the solid ground work stages are not taken care of. It is like a baby must suddently learn to walk before it even goes through the crawling developmental phase. Now let us do this little test. There are 20 Questions. Can you identify with some of these obstacles re your start-up or young business? Just tick the box mentally if this applies to you. (You can check the questions later as well underneath the youtube video description). 1. Do you have a vision? 2. Are you a creative person? 3. Do you have think out of the box mentality? 4. Are you a clear communicator? 5. Have you Lost Focus on Primary Goal? 6. Do you have a Poor or Slow Execution? 7. Is there a Lack of Customer-stakeholders Engagement? 8. Do you experience Poor Teamwork? 9. Do you have a trusted mentor or coach? 10. Is there a High Employee Turnover Rate? 11. Do you have a Lack of Adaptability? 12. Have you a poor or No New Product Development? 13. Do you have Leadership ability and a clear goal? 14. Do you have An established, compelling company culture? 15. Do you have a strong Willingness to hear feedback? 16. Do you lack an adequate business plan? 17. Have you solid funding support? 18. Are you able to realize your goals within 3 years? 19. Have you got a good medical plan? 20. Are you ready for change when things go wrong? Now if you have answered yes to more than 50 % of these questions then you are in serious trouble. This ist he time when we have to recalculate our strategy. There is a marvellous saying from Schwarzenegger himself which I would like to share with you: “To be successful, however, you must be brutal with yourself and focus on the flaws.” Now let us focus on those flaws why things are not turning out the way they should. 1.) Here come the dont's - Why do most startups fail? According to business owners, reasons for failure include money running out, being in the wrong market, a lack of research, bad partnerships, ineffective marketing, and not being an expert in the industry. Ways to avoid failing include setting goals, accurate research, loving the work, and not quitting. The main Reasons for F --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/bronwyn59/message

Kimberly Storin strongly believes that culture beats strategy every day of the week and that you can be the best strategic marketer in the world, but if you fail to build a sustainable culture, your strategy is irrelevant. It's one of the reasons why when she joined the Zayo Group, she made a plan for her first 100 days, during which she would be relentlessly focused on making sure that within her organization, the sales and marketing teams remain aligned in their vision.“The biggest impact that we're going to have is to get that sales alignment right off the bat so that we can see a great account-based marketing approach. The biggest win that we can have in the next six to 12 months will be to implement account-based marketing.”Kimberly has extensive experience in enterprise technology, having overseen brand refreshes and strategy implementation at some of the world's biggest technology companies — including Dell, AMD, and IBM. Now, as the CMO of Zayo Group, she helped to implement similar strategies. On this episode of Marketing Trends, Kimberly explains why having a strong ABM strategy is integral to the growth of Zayo Group, she also dives into why every marketing department should devote resources to its own creative services department, and how every new CMO can earn quick wins.Main Takeaways:Building a Plan For a Plan: When you enter any new organization, you have to understand the values and benchmarks the organization needs to hit. A good practice is to start by meeting with all the internal stakeholders of the business to best understand where you earn quick wins. Once you identify these, you can then gain a better understanding of what the key elements and goals of the business are. What Makes for a Good ABM Strategy: A good account-based marketing plan starts with a strong alignment between sales and marketing departments. When both sales and marketing have the ability to leverage market data, combined with the internal data the organization has, it makes for an incredibly streamlined process for identifying the proper prospects to target.Let's Get Creative: Brand consistency is key, but in order to make sure you are building a strong and consistent message, marketing teams should invest in having their own internal creative agency. When creative services are in-house, it allows you to highlight elements of the brand that matter while building a strong and consistent approach.---Marketing Trends podcast is brought to you by Salesforce. One fall night in 2010, my wife Nicole and I were watching the Suze Orman Show. (Yes, I used to DVR it). There was this fun segment where someone would call in and Suze would analyze that person's financial health and give them a grade. It was called How Am I Doing? One term that we kept seeing over and over again on this segment was “Net Worth”. Since we were personal finance newbies, we had no idea what this meant. Nicole and I were making a combined annual income of $130,000 so we figured our net worth must be HUGE. After the show was over, we decided to see how rich we really were. There was no doubt in our mind that we’d be better off than most of the jokers that call in to the show and get an “F” grade from Suze! We walked upstairs and started to write down all of our numbers on a big whiteboard. By separating our “assets” (what we owned) and our liabilities (what we owed) into two big columns, we started to discover that we weren’t rich. We were kinda broke. Although we were making a solid income together, our liabilities were much higher than our assets. Here is a snapshot of what our numbers looked like back in 2010 (rounded educated guesstimates based on me losing some of our data along the way): There’s no way were going to get an “A” grade on Suze’s show with a -$50,000 net worth! This epiphany moment was just the jolt of reality we needed to start making progress on our finances. Our short-term goal was to get this net worth number in positive territory ASAP! It was time for us to make a change. Here's what we did to increase our net worth by $800,000 in 8 years. 1. Track Your Net Worth Net Worth Total (September 2010) = -$50,000 Nicole and I quickly realized that we couldn’t improve our financial situation if we weren’t tracking our net worth. This number was going to be the barometer for our future financial success. We took all of the numbers off of our whiteboard and inserted them into an excel spreadsheet. From that point on, we updated our asset and liability totals monthly to track our progress. Even just seeing the numbers helped! (Side Note: Personal Capital wasn’t around back then, but if it was, it would have made the whole net worth tracking process a lot easier. It’s free and it automatically updates your net worth by synching up your accounts. We use it now and love it.) 2. Live on a Monthly Budget Net Worth Total (January 2011) = -$35,000 Another monthly habit Nicole and I adopted around this time was living on a budget. We got the idea after reading Dave Ramsey’s The Total Money Makeover. He talked about the importance of living on a zero-based budget and giving every dollar an assignment. Getting on the same financial page with Nicole before each month began was really important for us as we started our marriage. Each month, we’d do the following: Review our spending, saving and debt balances Plan out next month’s budget Discuss our financial dreams and goals to ensure we’re headed down a path we’re both excited about We eventually learned about a budgeting tool called Mint that automated the budgeting process much like Personal Capital did for our net worth tracking. This tool saved us a ton of time and it was free too! (Side Note: If you’re looking for a budgeting tool specifically for couples, Zeta is an excellent option.) 3. Eliminate Your Consumer Debt Net Worth Total (September 2011) = $20,000 After being inspired by Dave Ramsey’s debt crushing ways, we decided that becoming consumer debt-free would be an excellent way to increase our net worth. For me, I really hated having student loans and wanted them gone as soon as possible. My 6.8% interest rate did not help the process either. (Debt refinancing services like SoFi would have been huge for me back then!) For Nicole, she loved her 2008 Audi A4 and thought it would be incredible to own it outright with no payments. Through our monthly Budget Party, we discovered we could eliminate both of these debts before the end of the year. This would require us to essentially live on my income and use Nicole’s to pay off the debt. The plan worked! We were consumer debt free by September 2011 and we were in the positive net worth territory to boot. After making the final payment on Nicole’s car, we took a joy ride in her paid-for Audi A4 on a beautiful fall night in Michigan. 4. Save 50% of Your Income Net Worth Total (January 2012) = $45,000 At this point in our marriage, we were a month away from having our first child. Our financial standing was looking pretty solid. We increased our income to around $170,000 by the end of 2011. Our little Zoey would be born into a debt-free family and that made us proud. We liked our current home, but we started thinking about our family growing from 2 to 3 (to eventually 4). Getting into a good school system was very important for us. That being said, we knew that homes in our desired school district were expensive! Our new goal became saving up as much money as possible for a big down payment on our dream home. Our plan was to save 50% of our income and live on the other 50%. 5. Increase Your Income Net Worth Total (February 2013) = $210,000 Luckily, 2012 was an outstanding year for us income-wise. We were both working full-time at our jobs and brought in the most money we’ve ever made as a couple together in one year ... $280,000! I had a commission-based sales job and I achieved the company record for most annual revenue brought in on our most important account (it was a small company). We ended up saving way more than 50% that year. Here are some highlights of what we did with our money: Saved over $100,000 cash Updated my bachelor pad into a family home Bought my first car with cash Funded our daughter's 529 Savings Account with $10,000 when she was born Traveled to Puerto Rico for a nice getaway over the holidays 6. Get a 15-Year Mortgage Net Worth Total (January 2014) = $359,000 When we finally bought our dream home, the cash savings we amassed allowed us to put down 45%. This cut our new mortgage principal by a sizable amount immediately. Our plan was to pay off this mortgage in 5 years! We went with a 15-year mortgage through LendingTree and got a super-low 3% fixed rate. This helped us to put more toward the principal balance each month and push toward our goal of becoming mortgage-free by 2018. 7. Be Flexible Because Life Happens Net Worth Total (January 2015) = $385,000 When our second child (Calvin) came into our lives, we decided it was best to have Nicole stay at home and raise our two kids. Since we’d been essentially living on one income for quite a while at this point, it wasn’t that big of a life shocker for us. My income was still very comfortable at around $160,000 that year. Welcome to the World Calvin! This income change did slow our net worth growth quite a bit, but honestly, those previous few years were unicorns! We’re just happy we saved like we did so that Nicole could spend more time with our kids. It was one of the best decisions we ever made as a family. 8. Max Your Retirement Savings Net Worth Total (January 2017) = $547,000 In 2016, we decided that maxing out all three of our retirement accounts (401k, Andy's Roth IRA and Nicole's Roth IRA) was a smart move. My workplace 401k had been maxed since 2013, but we had not been doing the same for our Roths. In addition to clobbering our mortgage principal, this tax-advantaged plan helped us break the half-million mark in our net worth journey! By this time, we were fully into Personal Capital to help us track our progress. It became quite addicting actually. 9. Pay Off Your Mortgage Early Net Worth Total (February 2018) = $679,000 In November 2017, we paid off our 15-year mortgage in just under 4 years. One year ahead of schedule! Nicole, Zoey, Calvin and I had an epic mortgage freedom celebration together that we’ll never forget. We wanted our kids to remember this important moment in our lives so they too could be inspired to live without debt in the future. Mortgage Freedom! Without a mortgage, our net worth has been increased steadily. The incredible stock market surge in 2017 definitely helped as well! 10. Save For First Rental Property Net Worth Total (January 2019) = $764,000 Although 2018 saw an overall drop in the stock market, we weathered the storm and kept up a high savings rate. Most of our extra money went into a savings account to build up enough money to buy our first rental property. We also did fun things like update our home and go on some epic family vacations. The Hill Family is Cabo in 2018 11. Create a 30-Hour Work Week Lifestyle Net Worth Total (January 2020) = $917,000 Recently, we decided that buying our first rental property was not something we wanted to do. Instead, we chose to use our cash as a runway for me to work on my small business full-time (or part-time rather). My goal is to work 30 hours per week so I can spend more time with family, taking care of my health and enjoying more life today. Interviewing Author Rachel Cruze I was inspired by my wife who recently went back to work and created a 30-hour workweek that she loves. Her commute is short, her workload is reasonable and it’s a nice change of pace for a woman who’s been a stay-at-home Mom for nearly 5 years. Plan For the Future We’ve come a long way since our -$50,000 net worth in 2010. I’m so proud of the hard work that Nicole and I put in along the way. Without my wife’s partnership, none of this would have been possible. As we’re closing in on a $1,000,000 net worth, my first thought is … it’s just a number. On the surface, it really doesn’t mean anything. But when you peel back the layers and find out what’s inside, that’s when you discover what our net worth is made of. Our home, our cars, our retirement savings and our emergency savings are all things that bring our family joy. These assets will allow us to live happy, healthy and purposeful lives. They will also allow us to give generously of both our time and our money. With some hard work and a little luck, our kids will see our example and continue to strengthen this family tree of ours in the future. Where are you in your net worth journey? Please let me know in the comments below!

What intentions did you fulfill in 2019? Where did you fall short? Did unexpected circumstances change your plans? As driven, high achievers, we want to be in control of life's outcomes. But life doesn't always go according to plan. In fact, the most rewarding parts of life are often the most unpredictable. So, how do we plan for a new year knowing we can't know everything? How can we set intentions without getting attached to a particular outcome? Today, we are walking you through our process for reflecting on 2019 and creating a vision for 2020. We look back at the last 12 months, sharing what we learned about tapping into a new level of commitment and welcoming the cycles of life—even when it's painful. And we get real about the challenges we faced in this year's planning process. We introduce you to the Life Purpose Reading that informed our process and discuss our personal intentions for the new year, describing how unknowns (like becoming a mom!) shift the way we plan and why it's crucial to appreciate action in ALL its forms. When I sat down with professional counselor and coach Chelsey Brooke, I was impressed at her eloquence and expertise. She shared insights into the introverted mindsets and motivations that I believe can be the foundation for so many of us to become better, more mindful leaders. As Maya Angelou stated, “When you know better, you do better,” much of what Chelsey shared can be a call to action for leaders to really get to know their team members so that they can help dramatically increase their ability to cultivate mutually meaningful work engagements. In a business world where extraverts can often seize the spotlight – helping introverts learn to come from a place of power, work with their strengths, and find an authentic path they can be passionate about is exactly why I wanted to have her on the show. Misunderstanding and misinterpretation can be two big obstacles for introverts. From an extravert's point of view, not speaking up, sitting in silence, or not being gregarious in a meeting or office situation can be mislabeled as a poor team player or lackluster contributor. When in fact, more often than not, the exact opposite is true. Introverts tend to be extremely organized and take the time to process information with incredible thoroughness. Those are positives, not negatives. As leaders, know that there are three empowering ways we can help introverts let go of those labels (internally and externally), feel more confident in the workplace, and use their strengths to best serve the team as a whole. Chelsey calls them the three P's: Prepare: As deep-thinkers and planners, introverts tend to be uncomfortable with spontaneity. That's where preparation can be a powerful ally – especially for important meetings and projects. Tip: Make room in your timelines for the introvert's high level of preparedness and you'll most likely be rewarded with results that are well defined by critical thinking and thorough analysis. Participate: What's important to remember is how critical non-verbal communication is in the workplace. Introverts tend to participate most through eye-contact, attention, nods, smiles, and observation. Leaders who are more aware of the personality types of their employees recognize and reward this contribution as much so as the more verbal extravert's. Tip: Be aware that introverts often feel awkward about interrupting. Ask one-on-one ahead of a meeting if there is something they'd like to share up front, or something you can acknowledge for them. That kind of consideration will glean you the feedback you need at a comfort level that doesn't feel awkward or intimidating. Plan: For most introverts, constant engagement with other people is draining and distracting. Tip: Allow them to schedule energy-boosting breaks where they can recoup and recover. Another strategy is to suggest they have a posted schedule of their availability on their door or cubicle. That helps minimize work stress and helps team members stay on task for projects without distractions that can derail productivity. (Side note: I personally find this super-helpful regardless of personality type!) One of the things I really admire about Chelsey and a top reason I invited her to be a guest was her work and advocacy for introverted women. Her systems and solutions empower introverted women to not only excel in the workplace, but to truly create a life and career that is founded in their passion, fuels their confidence, and become their own best advocates. Ultimately, as leaders, regardless of industry – our job is to be an excellent steward of the people under our care and supervision. The more aware we are of not just their motivators, but their challenges as well, the more cohesive and effective team we can both build and sustain. Step one is to get rid of those pre-conceived notions, labels, and language. Some introverts go through life feeling like something is wrong with them, which is only exacerbated by what can feel like an endless barrage of, “you should speak up more”, “get out of your shell”, “you're too quiet” advice from (hopefully) well-meaning extraverts around them. Create a culture and environment in your organization that encourages empathy and advocacy over judgement and stereotypes. That kind of culture shift comes from the top. Lead by example. Step two is to encourage education. Perhaps surprisingly, many people have never even taken an assessment. They don't label themselves introvert or extravert. They just know what works for them – and what REALLY DOESN'T work for them. Encourage open discussion with your team members to share that kind of information with you and with fellow team members. Take some time, or even provide some training, so that people can ascertain their personal best ways to contribute successfully to the team so there's a win-win for everyone. Step three is to help people recognize their strengths. Truly, some of the traits that introverts tend to judge themselves the most about are really strengths in disguise. Scientifically, introverts don't make those snap decisions or reactions because they are hard-wired to use longer and more complex pathways in the brain to process information. Through encouragement and skilled communication, you can show them how much their organization, thoughtfulness, and attention are highly beneficial to your organization's success and applaud them for those strengths. Often, the traits most associated with leadership are extraverted in nature: gift of gab, super-connector, direct, assertive, big and bold personalities. Think about what introverts bring to the table however: kindness, quiet, understanding, and empathetic. In the world we live in, don't we really need BOTH? The answer is, of course we do. When leaders take the time to more fully understand who is on their team and what makes them tick, they can help amplify the strengths of the individuals, help them to be better heard, and cultivate the kind of team dynamics which allows everyone to thrive. A standout lesson from our conversation was really a simple one… ASK. Ask your team members (rather than assume) what conditions allow them to feel most productive. Ask them how they feel most comfortable communicating. Ask them about their passions so that you can help fuel them. Astonishing growth and collaboration can happen when you lead from a place of listening to your people. Both leaders and individuals can benefit greatly from actively learning more about what makes us say what we say and do what we do. Did you know that the brain is wired to keep us safe, keep to the status quo, and conserve energy? That's why growth is so uncomfortable for some! That's why setting and working towards new goals can feel painful. That's why we often quit before we even get started. That knowledge and perspective is a powerful tool in breaking through barriers and achieving great things. The top three take-aways for leaders from our time together: Help people find a career or a path they can be passionate about. Passion fuels energy, builds confidence, inspires action, and elevates lives personally and professionally. Help team members develop self-belief systems that serve them. The time to shatter those limited belief systems, habits, and “shoulda, coulda, wouldas” is now. Help people see that what once might have been considered weaknesses can truly be turned into strengths. Thinking differently, processing information more carefully, measuring your words – these are attributes, not faults. Help others develop a success mindset. Remind people that their self-talk, the skills they build upon, and the habits they make and break – these are all part of their personal success puzzle and also part of how they effectively fit into your team. I am so grateful to Chelsey for sharing her insights about the introvert mind, how we can empower them, and lead them with more effectiveness and compassion. I would encourage everyone to learn more about this powerful topic by taking advantage of Chelsey's free training program which includes: 1. How to find a career in your passion. 2. How to develop self-belief in who you are. 3. How to create a successful and resilient mindset. You can get all three at www.ThePathfinderforyou.com/free. All labels aside, gaining a deeper understanding of ourselves and the people we work with, lead, and even live with is an incredible win-win. What do you think? Let's have that conversation! Set aside belief systems that put negative habits and self-talk on loop. They are a disservice to you and those around you. #RetrainYourBrain Introverts don't need to “suck it up”, “speak up more”, or “get thicker-skinned”. Like everyone else, they should be recognized for their skills, contribution, and strengths. #LeaderWithUnderstanding Leaders who take the time to really get what makes their team tick will go further, faster, and with more momentum than those who do not. #LeadershipLessons

I've been a fan of Dave Hughes and his Retire Fabulously.com website for the past five years, devouring and recommending his advice columns to everyone who's listening. Dave has two books out that are indispensable for those in retirement and those of us (ahem) hoping to retire soon: Design Your Dream Retirement: How to Envision, Plan For, and Enjoy the Best Retirement Possible and the followup, Smooth Sailing into Retirement: How to Navigate the Transition from Work to Leisure. It's always a pleasure to chat with Dave, and a delight to have him on the podcast. On this outing we talk about retirement (of course), why LGBTQ/gay safe spaces can be a factor in vacation planning, and a topic dear to both our hearts: writing! Sit back, adjust the volume, and fasten your headphones.
The problem with “balance” isn’t our regular schedule...if we had to follow our normal routine every day: your family always stays in line, no one gets sick or has any issues, work stays in line there aren’t any unexpected moments, meetings or customer needs - then you could find a “balance” But that’s not normal - no one lives that way… We are always going to be blindsided by the radical things that happen to us that completely hijack whatever our plans are. This week we sit down with Frank Bealer - the Executive Director of Leadership Development at Orange / The reThink Group and CEO of Phase Family Centers to talk about everything from his exciting new projects, the grand opening of the new 62,500+ square foot Phase Family Center in Alpharetta Georgia to how to PLAN FOR the expected unexpected realities of life...which in turn leads to stronger relationships with family. We go into what his book "The Myth of Balance" (get your copy HERE) and what exactly that means!! “THE PENTAGON PLANS FOR A ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE” and 5 More Creepy True Stories! #WeirdDarknessIN THIS EPISODE: The idea of a zombie apocalypse has been a fascinating topic of horror films, television, and print ever since George Romero’s “Night of the Living Dead” in 1968. But it’s complete fiction, of course. Right? If so, why does the Pentagon have a plan for it, just in case? (CONOP 8888: The Pentagon’s Plan For a Zombie Apocalypse) *** He appears as a man or skeleton or described as a shadow, often atop a cart for collecting the dead. Their mouths were of ‘prodigious width’ with thick lips and prominent jaws. The Australian Aborigines regarded them as another people entirely – they called them the Yowies. (The Australian Yowie) *** Shadow people seem to be a growing phenomenon. But what are they, what do they want? And most importantly – how do you get away from one? (What You Should Know About Shadow People) *** A little girl’s imaginary friend appears to her mother as shadows in the basement. (My Imaginary Friend) *** The story of the Detroit “Occult Murders” is one of the strangest in American crime. It’s a story of black magic, murder, and a clever and enterprising man who came to Detroit with a strange dream.
