Angee and Jonathan are joined by Jess Irvine and Amanda Jenkinson, two arts assistants at the Postmark Center for the Arts! The quartet talk about Auburn's greatest building (Postmark, duh) and all of the amazingly incredible things happening this spring. You can find a full list on Auburn's Community Calendar, which includes several free classes a week and a few symphony events on the weekends: auburnwa.gov/calendar. They also talk about the power of art and how a truly remarkable piece can really reach out and grab you and refuse to let go (as is the case with Jonathan). The finish up with Angee's Arena -- art and membership trivia in Auburn! Jonathan does terribly...but maybe you can do better????
WORT 89.9FM Madison · Postmark Changes Could Impact Absentee Ballots Tom Lopach(Photo courtesy Center for Voter Participation) If you were planning on mailing in your absentee ballot before tomorrow's Wisconsin election, you might want to deliver it yourself instead. Last December, the U.S. Postal Service issued new guidance about postmarks that could delay mail getting postmarked, particularly in rural areas, by several days. That obscure rule change, along with dozens of state laws restricting alternative voting, coupled with the Trump Administration's legislative and arm-twisting efforts to make it harder for people to vote, could have a severe impact on the 2026 midterm elections. Tom Lopach is the President and CEO of the Voter Participation Center and the Center for Voter Information. Did you enjoy this story? Your funding makes great, local journalism like this possible. The United States Postal Service has implemented a policy change regarding postmarks that could significantly affect voting and healthcare access. The updated rule specifies that postmarks now indicate the date mail is first processed at a sorting facility, rather than when it is deposited in a mailbox. This alteration could lead to the rejection of ballots or healthcare documents if they are postmarked late, potentially disadvantaging vulnerable communities. The shift is poised to impact mail-in voting and medical paperwork, both of which depend heavily on timely postmarks. Dr. Carl Mack joins the Rhythm & News Podcast to share more. Interview by Chris B. Bennett.
A recent change in how the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) applies postmarks could create problems for Texas property taxpayers who mail payments close to the deadline. USPS now applies postmarks in regional mail-sorting facilities in the mail-sorting process, rather than at initial pickup. This means that a payment mailed on time could receive a later postmark date and be treated as late — triggering penalties and interest. To avoid this risk, according to tax advisors Gill, Denson & Co., Texas property owners should mail payments well before the Jan. 31 property tax payment deadline or use electronic or in-person payment...Article Link

I open the show by explaining WHEN outgoing mail gets its postmark dates. It's handled by a machine called the Advanced Facer Canceler System. Then I get into how that machine actually works. Finally, I answer a question from the mailbag about Commercial Mail Receiving Agencies (like the UPS Store), and what we're supposed to do with their mail. This episode kind of gets into the weeds, and that's exactly where Classes of Mail likes to be!
Episode 75: In this episode, Timalyn covers how changes to the United States Postal Service (USPS) postmark rule can affect taxpayers when communicating with the IRS. She also wishes her listeners a Happy New Year. What is the USPS Postmark Rule? The USPS postmark rule determines when a piece of mail is marked as received. A lot of companies and agencies use this rule to figure out if information was turned into them timely. Medicaid, IRS, and the government counting absentee ballots are just a few examples. What is the old USPS Postmark Rule?Prior to December 24th, 2025 mail was postmarked with the date that it was dropped off at the process. This is the reason for long lines on days such as April 15th, the tax deadline. Those in line wanted to ensure that their mail was marked by that day so that it would not be considered late. What is the new USPS Postmark Rule?Effective December 24th, 2025 the USPS is no longer postmarking mail the day it reaches the post office. Instead the new postmark date will reflect when it is first processed at a regional center. This could be a day or two later. Which could impact the deadline not only for those paying bills or voting by mail, but taxpayers who still use the mail system to file and pay their Federal, state, and local taxes. What is the IRS Mailbox Rule? The IRS considers the postmark date to be the legal date that the taxpayer filed their return. This is the same for payments made by mail. For example, if a payment is made on April 15th for quarter 1 estimates it is considered on time. However, if it is postmarked April 16th it is considered late. The new USPS postmark rule could cause some taxpayers to be penalized for late filing or payment even if they did make it to the post office by the actual deadline. How to Get a Timely PostmarkTimalyn recommends that anytime a taxpayer mails something to the IRS or any other tax agency that they send it by certified mail. The green receipt has helped her many times when proving to the IRS that client documentation was sent timely. Another recommendation is, if at all possible, to use the taxpayer upload tools available through IRS.gov. If you are working with a professional who is representing you before the IRS they can also submit these documents by phone via Fax. In this episode of the 222 Paranormal Podcast, we explore the mysterious, the supernatural, and the uncanny connections between Thanksgiving and the world beyond. We begin with the history of the holiday itself, discovering how early colonial settlers and Indigenous communities held spiritual worldviews that still echo through the season. Harvest festivals around the world have long been linked with spirits of the land, ancestral presence, and rituals meant to honor those who came before. Many believe that late autumn — with its long nights and thinning veil — remains a powerful time for supernatural activity. Listeners will hear stories of haunted Thanksgiving tables where ghostly relatives appear, phantom footsteps echo through old family homes, and entire holiday gatherings are disrupted by unexplained activity. We dive into cases where families report apparitions during the holiday meal, cold spots at the dinner table, and pets reacting to unseen visitors who may be checking in during this emotionally charged season. We explore America's famously haunted historic locations with Thanksgiving ties: • Old New England homes where colonial spirits still roam. • Haunted kitchens where cooks claim to see shadow figures. • Towns where Thanksgiving parades have been followed by strange sightings. The episode also touches on the supernatural symbolism of gratitude itself. Many cultures believe that expressing thankfulness opens spiritual pathways, inviting ancestral blessings or heightened intuition. Could the energy of the holiday actually amplify the paranormal? We examine stories from people who experienced vivid dreams, synchronicities, or messages from deceased loved ones around Thanksgiving. From eerie encounters on holiday road trips to unsettling events during Black Friday, this episode blends history, folklore, and firsthand accounts. Whether you're carving a turkey or exploring haunted history, this Thanksgiving might be more supernatural than you think. Welcome to the 222 Paranormal Podcast, your gateway to the captivating world of the supernatural. Prolific designer Matthew Dunstan joins the show in a unique opportunity to link to the last episode as well as Intertextual Cardboard Experience's famous Collabstraction Trilogy. There are many unique topics discussed here, and, to me, the ethos of most everything we talked about boiled down to the idea of community and the relationships Matthew has with others in the gaming space. Unsurprisingly, this episode is a real treat.Last episode, I was fortunate enough to chat with Rory Muldoon, Matthew's partner at Postmark Games. If you haven't, check out that episode. Additionally, keep refreshing your browser until 52 Realms: Adventures is available on the Postmark site (some time in January). Matthew on BlueskyIntro and Matthew's Version (0:00) Matthew talks about a special person in his life that fostered an early love for gaming. The story of the “Cambridge Cabal” or Cambridge design groups had been discussed a few times on the show. Hearing a little bit more from another perspective, keeps adding to that fun. Some of the Collabstraction staples make it into here, and Matthew discusses some of the decision making behind whether a game will be a solo design or co-design.A Little Voyage to Postmark (23:55) This section introduces the aforementioned episode with Rory. In this portion, I do correctly say that I'm going to bring up portions of the conversation with Rory where he asked (or just mentioned) that I ask or bring up certain things to Matthew. In later parts, I think I accidentally kind of clump that verbiage into saying that Rory asked me to ask you this. Anyway, in this introductory part, I tell Matthew to bring back his designer live streams (a request from Rory [and me and others!]).Continued Adventures (33:17) This portion dives into some design decisions made for 52 Realms: Adventures, the idea of community, and how the design relationship between Rory and Matthew works so well. Matthew also reflects on some other possibilities for games designed specifically for print and play.Wrap-up Questions (1:00:36) A couple of texts on Matthew's mind and what to look out for from him next!----------------------------------------------------------***Postcard image courtesy of Schmidsi via Pixabay***Other images from Postmark's site----------------------------------------------------------IF YOU FILLED OUT THE "SOLOWEEN SURVEY," THANK YOU! Rory Muldoon, designer and one-half of Postmark Games, joins the show to discuss the exciting spaces available in the print and play format. With an upcoming project to show off these ideas in 52 Realms: Adventures, it was a really fun conversation charting Rory's adventures in the board gaming profession and ways he enjoys designing. We also talk about community, co-design, and a massive print and play space opera 4x game (kind of).Anyway, this discussion was fantastic. We also talk about Rory's work in graphic design and how everything transitioned to where he is with Postmark today.Perks of Being a Print and Player (17:17)Starts off with some information about Postmark Games. Then there are a couple of sections on the benefits of the format from both the board game “consumer” and designer/publisher standpoint. Rory, unsurprisingly, has some awesome insights here.52 Realms: Adventures (38:53)The aforementioned project! I'm a big fan of dice, and I'm a big fan of cards as randomizers too. The way this game uses cards, multiple sheets, and space in general is something I'm very excited to try.Wrap-up Questions (46:57)A text on Rory's mind and things to look out for from Postmark Games.----------------------------------------------------------***Printer image courtesy of OpenClipart-Vectors via Pixabay----------------------------------------------------------Contact, follow, and support information:If you like this show, liking it on whatever platform you listen to and writing a review would mean so much! Join Jim and Greg as they update the Democrats' latest efforts to get donations from "Doris" and "Diane." They also discuss key events affecting the GOP in Nevada, the New York Times' partisan focus on "misinformation," and more proof that ballot drop boxes are a terrible idea. They kick things off with a fun update on recent Harris campaign fundraising pitches sent to the wrong recipients. Jim and Greg share the Democrats' persistent attempts to get "Doris" and "Diane" (who are really just Greg and Jim) to donate—and the various psychological tactics they use that have no chance of working.Moving to the Nevada battleground, they discuss the latest mixed results for the GOP. Early voting trends show Republicans gaining a lot of ground in this cycle, but a recent Nevada Supreme Court ruling allows mail-in ballots to be counted even if received days after Election Day and without a postmark. They also tackle the latest efforts from the left-leaning media to target online conservative content. Ben Shapiro highlighted an email he received from a New York Times reporter about an upcoming piece that critiques right-leaning YouTube channels based on data from the Soros-funded Media Matters for America. They slam the Times' reliance on the far-left MMFA's analysis and the implications for conservative voices online. Finally, they cover disturbing reports from Washington and Oregon of incendiary devices placed in ballot drop boxes, leading to some serious ballot damage. Jim and Greg want the perpetrators punished severely, but they also see this as just the latest sign that ballot drop boxes are a terrible idea for people interested in fair and secure elections.
The results for CD2 are in, but a decision is still pending on Colby Jenkins challenge to state law over the postmark deadline for mail-in ballots. KSL 5 TV Reporter Lindsay Aerts joins us with the latest.

Chester and Jonathan return for the first 2024 episode of Auburn on Main! The boys catch up, go over what's new since last year (three new council members, a smattering of events at Postmark), and finish strong with a sound that's been stuck in our heads all week.
This episode features an interview with Shay Howe, Chief Marketing Officer at ActiveCampaign, where he leads the marketing, customer activation, partnership, platform strategy, and Postmark teams. Previously, Shay has led product teams at Belly, Yello, and Groupon, and has also held in-residence roles as an advisor with Techstars and Lightbank VC.In this episode, Kailey and Shay discuss PLG and SLG handoffs, customer activation teams, and the importance of owned channels.-------------------Key Takeaways:Owned channels like websites, email lists, and podcasts can often be overlooked in the customer experience journey. However, these channels are critical because they allow you to control your messaging, collect data without a third party, and nurture relationships with customers directly. If you want to improve your customer experience, get out of the building and talk with your customers. Figure out what part of the process they have enjoyed or where their pain points are, and then find ways to evolve that through AI or automation.Be careful not to over-automate parts of your business that make you unique. Learn where human touch is relevant so your customers can form a relationship with you, and only automate areas that can take mundane tasks off your plate.-------------------“We're doing a lot to help folks build relationships with their customers through those owned assets, put them in places where they can control more of that owned message, and then they can collect the data themselves, not rely on third parties to do that. You're also driving traffic back to your own owned assets. It becomes your own little flywheel, which is important.” – Shay Howe-------------------Episode Timestamps:*(02:57) - Shay's career journey*(07:59) - How Shay is enabling his team to build personalized experiences*(12:56) - How PLG and SLG can complement each other *(21:35) - How ActiveCampaign is using AI*(29:36) - The pitfalls of automation*(37:28) - How Shay defines “good data”*(39:19) - An example of another company doing it right with customer engagement (hint: it's Chewy and ChartMogul)*(40:54) - Shay's recommendations for upleveling customer experience strategies-------------------Links:Connect with Shay on LinkedInConnect with Kailey on LinkedInLearn more about Caspian Studios-------------------SponsorGood Data, Better Marketing is brought to you by Twilio Segment. Over a decade after Elvis Presley's death, the king of rock & roll took over headlines once again as Americans weighed in on which portrait of Elvis would be forever immortalized on a 29 cent US postage stamp. It was put to a popular vote: should the stamp feature an image of young Elvis at the start of his rise, or an older Elvis in his iconic white jumpsuit. The resulting Elvis stamp eventually outsold every single commemorative stamp before and since. You Ain't Nothin But a Postmark

In 2009 Natalie Nagele and her husband, Chris, launched Postmark to help businesses deliver emails to their customers quickly. A decade in, Nagele had grown the company to around 40 employees, which was when she began feeling burned out. The pull to explore new interests was the catalyst to accepting a life-changing acquisition offer from Active Campaign in 2022. In this episode, you'll learn how to: Develop passionate employees that care about your company. Create raving fans that refer their friends. Decide when it's time to sell. Distinguish between serious burnout and normal fatigue. Create a list of demands for an acquirer when selling your business. Think in decades when making big decisions. Establish a positive relationship with your acquirer.
DEI isn't just an organizational to-do; it's about the day-to-day behavior in a company. Inclusion and Equity are the things we put into practice in our daily lives – how are we inclusive of people, and how do we ensure there is equity across the board? Today, Etienne de Bruin is talking to three experts in their fields, and in the leadership of major organizations who are taking DE&I seriously. Erik Enge is the Head of Engineering at Postmark, Active Campaign. Kathy Keating the VP of Technology at Ad Hoc, and Aaron Pina is the founder of Anthropolicy. They discuss what DE and I really means, how to make it an integral part of your company, and why that matters. They discuss: Diversity, Equity and Inclusion isn't a set of checkboxes to tick off. The number of people of color or members of the LGBTQ community in your company doesn't mean anything if their day-to-day experience of working in the organization isn't inclusive. “If you focus on the I, the D will come.” Psychological safety is important, but the idea of it has de-developed equity in North America. It has kept majority culture, particularly whiteness, from fully engaging in the process and practice of inclusion. Real psychological safety is something else. Where do you start having conversations about people's biases and resistance? Aaron recommends looking at skepticism and resistance as a signal for a story that needs to be told. When you're part of majority culture, what you find normal, pleasant, easy and conducive to success, it's hard to imagine that others don't have the same experience. Eric talks about this realization and how he acted on it. Trust and safety doesn't come from doing and saying everything perfectly, it comes from creating something new. Cathy shares that she feels safety comes from “that beautiful moment when we move from your needs, my needs and where it's about us expressing our needs.” Aaron talks about how the whole self doesn't always belong at work, but spaces where you can be unapologetically yourself are vital. He recommends active bystander training and looking at how it can be applied in the world. Fear is a feeling you can move through – it doesn't have to be avoided, and it doesn't have to stop you from making changes and doing the work. What happens when you bring difference into your workplace ‘tribe'? It always creates friction but how you treat and respond to that friction dictates whether you grow and evolve or stagnate and eventually decay.
