RAP Gang we have finally arrived at the season finale! You know we had to give you guys something special on our way out, and this episode's guest is nothing short of something special! Needless to say, this has been a very "Kendrick heavy" season, but we dare to honor this moment in history without hesitation. We will be talking about this moment in hip hop for years to come, so it was only right to get some input from an artist from Kansas City who has one of the closest ties to Kendrick and for sure, the only feature! Of course, we're talking about (Tha Gr8) Gee Watts! We get into the nitty gritty of the Pop Out w/Ken and Friends show to discuss our favorite parts and pay some much needed homage to west coast rap culture. We also, discuss in detail, the looooong standing history between Drake and Kendrick that has fueled this beef for well over a decade. The beef is not new; it has been a culmination of events that ultimately lead up to this very live stream, for all the world to see. In RAP Pack fashion, we are going out with a bang! We greatly appreciate those that have tapped in with us during this season of growth and can't wait to let you in on what we have planned for next season. Until then, save us a little time and a little wine! Be back real soon!

What's good and what's hood RAP Gang? The dust has finally settled and we are going to give you guys our (mostly) full length synopsis on the Kendrick and Drake beef ("oooooooooo"). The internet has had lot to say about the controversy, but is also, seemingly missing some really BIG parts of the story that only true millennials can tell. Music history seems to get mangled in the social media think pieces of the generations who were not around for the lived experience of "the mixtape era" and the birth of the digital music playing field, and we thought it was important to set the record straight on the passed around music myths and provide a little context that is absolutely needed in order to follow this beef properly. We also dive a little deeper on the demons of the music industry as a whole and this great (and delayed) awakening that the world is finally witnessing. Not an episode to miss! “It changed my business, it saved my marriage, I have five kids and I use this every day.” Today's guest Alexandra Jamieson, known for co-creating the documentary Supersize Me, recalls the words a friend said to her that encouraged Alexandra to write the book which eventually became “Radical Alignment.” Co-authored with her husband, Bob Gower, it is based on Alexandra's four-step “all-in” method for approaching any personal and professional conversation so that everyone feels seen, heard and understood. On today's episode of The Conscious Entrepreneur, she breaks down the method's four parts—Intentions, Concerns, Boundaries, and Dreams, and why they are crucial to creating effective communication, strong leadership, reduced conflict and a sense of psychological safety in the workplace.   We should all be reevaluating our values as often as possible, Alexandra says, as they change as often as the seasons. She shares stories of clients she's worked with in her coaching practice who were brave enough to make major life changes by listening to and honoring their own needs and deepest desires. She talks about the dangers of hustle culture, the prominence of imposter syndrome and how to best address them both.    Alexandra's own life is full of rich and diverse experiences, and her website reads “don't be defined by one box.” Join today's discussion to hear more of her story.   Quotes “We change as we age. Life changes us and we discover new things about ourselves as we go through life. Our values, while they're not going to change drastically, one value may become more important in your 40s, 50s and 60s than it was in your 20s. So, how can you get comfortable with shifting your identity? You're not necessarily changing everything about who you are, you can still have great relationships with people you always loved, but how can you become fully yourself through the years?” (8:15 | Alexandra Jamieson)  “I've gotta say, having worked with a lot of serial and successful entrepreneurs over the years, I think the hustle culture values that we have seen a lot in the last 20 years, man—it's killing us. Quite literally.” (11:01 | Alexandra Jamieson) “I was very averse to conflict, in my earlier life, didn't like it, avoided tough conversations. And then I realized, I can't proceed through life like this, this is not how a leader leads their own life, and it causes other problems.” (14:51 | Alexandra Jamieson) “You might not come to an answer at the end of this, but it helps get all the cards on the table so that you can build empathy, be connected and then realize where the hidden landmines might be for a big conversation.” (16:26 | Alexandra Jamieson)  “‘Boundaries' is the hardest for most people. Depending on your age, your gender, how you were raised, you might not be used to having boundaries or being asked about them, or being allowed. And in a work scenario, it may not feel safe to say, ‘Oh, I don't work past five.' Boundaries can be the most challenging to bring up in a personal or professional setting.” (21:28 | Alexandra Jamieson)    Links Connect with Alexandra Jamieson: Website: https://www.alexandrajamieson.com/   Connect with Alex Raymond: LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/afraymond/ Website: https://consciousentrepreneur.us/ HiveCast.fm is a proud sponsor of The Conscious Entrepreneur Podcast. Rap Gang! We're bringing it back again with the chat on boundaries. This time around, we're focusing on the source of our relationships with boundaries and where they may have stemmed from based on how we have interacted with others throughout life. We've extended the conversation to what we wear and the evolution of fashion and why we have made certain choices based on how our bodies have been perceived by others as young girls and beyond to adulthood. We discuss picking your battles in the workplace to balancing out your emotions in order coincide with your greater life missions and goals. We also go into detail about knowing when to work with others and when to respectfully decline. How does self esteem play a part in boundary setting? It is important that we give ourselves permission to have peace in all facets of life, or the standards of others will constantly be set for us. We gave our best effort in finding all of the touch points that boundaries can affect. Zora Neale Hurston once said, “If you are silent about your pain, they'll kill you and say you enjoyed it.” Do you agree?

We are indeed the great liaison between Boomers, Xers and Zoomers who are navigating the internet due to our specialized labor. But what does that look like when Gen Z is boasting not knowing the songs of the rap samples they're borrowing and Boomers and Xers are gullible enough to believe outdated and pixelated memes on Facebook? What's good RAP Gang? We are talking Black Women's History and we are making it a 3-part series! Oftentimes on the internet, there seems to be a lot of noise and misdirected anger rooted in opinions that are typically only fueled by personal experience and resentment. Even though personal experience is important and our individual stories matter, the full scope of understanding is never reached until we align that with the important historical facts that have brought us to this point. With so many attacks against our human rights and access to knowledge in this country, it is crucial that we keep having conversations about our history so that we can get to the root of our trauma and continue the healing process. Black women specifically have had to bear the brunt of constant criticism for our physical bodies as well as the major decision making forced upon us while just trying to survive America. We wanted to create this series as a means to humanize us and talk about the circumstances that have led us to the challenges that we continue to face today. When do you accept that things are what they are, and how to position yourself for your next level? This goes for relationships, jobs, personal goals, friendships, hobbies and more. As an adult, being in tune enough with yourself to know when it's time to make changes because you are outgrowing your surroundings is CRUCIAL. Growth, as we know, is not always linear, so the RAP Pack is back to tap into what exactly that could look like while navigating personal transformations. The number 5 in numerology can often represent change, uncertainty and sometimes instability. Just know that your best girls are here for the ride as we go on this next journey together!

What can we do to change the minds of the men in our life and adjacent to us that our humanity is valid? We are talking about the gut wrenching culture we have unwillingly had to build around the patriarchy for our own survival and we are not holding back on our personal truths. Through this episode, we are encouraging you to, not only do the same, but to also start the conversations with the men in your lives so that we can support the radical change of the way we treat each other within our relationships and communities. Our Social Media Mami and in-house favorite poet hops on the mic to give us some input on how "oversharing" can be beneficial in the art space and how it has fueled her healthy relationships with people all across the innanets! What's up RAP Gang? Welcome to Episode 2, we're recapping the BLK + BRWN anniversary block party and all of the activities we've been involved with lately and hope to involve you listeners in very very soon! The topic of the day surrounds minimalism vs. maximalism. When is too much stuff a problem that it teeters on hoarding and when does minimalism go so far as to completely eliminate creativity and originality? We dive into the new "clean girl" aesthetics as well as the "dirty girl" counter culture that has risen as a response. How are the aesthetics that we are creating now a testament to our culture? Does the "sleek" office building look suffice for everyone or should we just spatter paint across every plain surface in sight? How much does the world around us speak to our mental states? Take this ride with us as we try to find the balance between the two!

Welcome to our new location and sponsor 5226 Studios! We hope to see you soon at our grand opening next month! BLK+BRWN turns ONE this Juneteenth and we cannot wait to celebrate with you guys at the block party! Now, on this episode we dive into the topic of "Business as Usual". But how can we return to "business as usual" if there is quite literally NOTHING usual about the world we are living in as we are still battling COVID and our jobs insist on us coming back into the office as if the entire world didn't just shut down 2 years ago and the pandemic is still running rampant. We touch on mental health in the workplace, especially for black people, and people of color as our safe spaces and our neighborhoods are infiltrated by hate and violence of radicalized groups and ideals. We're coming in hot this SZN so make sure you stay tapped in with us as we discuss these heavy topics and try and sort out what "normal is supposed to look like in our immediate future.

We've made it to the final episode of SZN 3 RAP Gang, and we are SHAKING. THE. TABLE! It's time we discuss the notorious KCMO vs. KCK beef. But as our lovely Cori puts it so plain and clear; is it beef or is it bullying when there's only one side that is the aggressor? When we say everything goes back to slavery, we mean it; and it's about time we talk about the history behind this pointless animosity that seems to only be holding us back. Now don't get us wrong, we love friendly competition, a good laugh, and some healthy repping of where you're from, but the hate that has ravaged the black community in KC, solely based on which side of the river you were born, is only hindering us as our city continues to grow and be occupied by both outsiders and people who do not look like us. Join us as we put things in perspective on this season finale of Radical Alignment!

We're discussing our new found discoveries about healing and also "healing fatigue". Like, can we get a break from healing? How much do we have to heal? Does it ever end? Are we ever going to be okay? What does "okay" even look like for me now? How does one find peace and maintain it longterm? And how do you know when you have healed? There are so many questions that you have to ask yourself and figure out alone during this process, but the key driver is always what is on the other side of that healing. What do you stand to gain by taking the necessary time to truly tap in with yourself and see what is no longer working, and the actions that come after that? Tap in as we try to process and honor the changes that happen when you move out of your own way to the hopes of a better feeling on the other side of healing!

At first, you feel this calm, quiet and confident presence when you meet this woman, but then you soon discover she is fun, playful and piss-taking herself in the most delightful way. She reminds me of a horse, strong, tall, naturally and effortlessly beautiful and has this prowess that automatically makes you pay attention. Seriously, what a combination! She is not so secretly passionate about the power of circle work and her love is really to guide women how they can introduce circle work within their own business to heighten the client experience and raise the energy, impact and be of service to the world. Just like a circle, her wisdom, playfulness and knowledge are endless, I am super honoured to share that Mitle Southey will be LIVE on the show.
