#777 | Ed and Dan review derby victory and then look ahead to United's EFL Cup quarter-final away to Spurs on Thursday night. Victory over City came in the final minute of normal time. Could it get any better than this? This was no classic derby, with both teams struggling to find any kind of consistent form this season. But Rumen Amorim's plan to keep City at arms length worked, even if United created few high quality chances. And yet his team found a way through Amad Diallo, surely United's player of the season to date. The little man created the penalty for captain Bruno Fernandes put away and then he scored the winner for Amad finish to the game. Yes! In recent years, pop culture has changed. While art and talent sell like before, new beauty standards and sex appeal are necessary for artists and also music. Some black artists have jumped on this trend and it's reaching black communities including kids who are too young to be exposed to music of this nature. Abstract Why does Marrakesh look the way that it does? The Red City is the topic of the forthcoming book by Dr. Abbey Stockstill, in which she discusses the medieval city's relationship with its founding dynasties, the local landscape, and Berber politics in the eleventh and twelfth centuries. As the notion of what it meant to be “Berber” was being defined, the city of Marrakesh emerged as a metropolis that actively engaged the multivalent identities of Almoravids and Almohad dynasties. Rather than taking individual monuments in isolation, Dr. Stockstill's work looks at how those monuments worked with each other and the local landscape to create a stage for these identities to be expressed. What emerges is a city that is both paradigmatic in its structure, yet innovative in its social and historical context. Biography Dr. Abbey Stockstill received her Ph.D. in the History of Art & Architecture from Harvard University (2018), and is currently an assistant professor of Islamic art and architecture at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. She has contributed essays to academic journals such as Muqarnas and Hésperis-Tamuda, as well as to a number of edited volumes. She is also an assistant editor for the International Journal of Islamic Architecture, and serves on various committees within the International Center for Medieval Art and the Historians of Islamic Art Association. She is thrilled to be returning to Morocco after a two-year, pandemic-enforced hiatus, and can be found wherever couscous is being served. Away from the watchful eye of national intelligence, a cadre of exceptional misfits is assembled. These soldiers of fortune are uniquely equipped for covert and unusual operations. In these uncertain times, the line between science and superstition has been broken, and the new arms race is only beginning. You, or your associates, may be faced with weapons, tactics, and actors unlike any you have ever seen. For a price, those exceptional misfits can help. When you're all out of options, it's time to call FIST. A team of FIST operatives heads into a remote abandoned Soviet facility in the desert. People from nearby towns have disappeared.
