Laughing My Freaking Ass Off, or LMFAO as they were more commonly known - were one of the most enigmatic duos in pop music history. Formed in 2006 by Motown Records’ founder Berry Gordy’s youngest son Stefan Kendal Gordy - AKA Redfoo, and Redfoo’s half-nephew Skyler Austen Gordy - or Sky Blu (with no e, of course)... I would hazard a guess that these hyperactive nepo-babies are the single most successful Uncle-Nephew duo in all of music. As was the style at the time - Foo and Blu’s club bangers included tracks with influences from contemporary pop, hip hop, synthpop, paving the way for a somewhat mindless wave of EDM that focused on the carefree vibes of nightlife, partying, drinking, and just having a good time. After gaining a bit of a following and laying down some demos that truly distilled their party-rocking sound, Redfoo decided to show his demos off to his best friend to get his thoughts on the songs. Now, You may not be surprised to find out that Redfoo’s best friend LOVED the demos; you could even say he had a feelin’ that LMFAO were ready for the big time. Of course, I’m burying the lede here. It PROBABLY didn’t hurt that this ‘best friend’ in question, was none other than Will. I . Am. This is the story of LMFAO's 'Party Rock Anthem' with newly unearthed audio from the group.
Did you watch the Super Bowl? No? Did you watch the AARP Movies for Grownups Awards? Still, no? OK well this is the episode for you — Ciara, Kevin Costner, Pete Davidson and... Jordon Hudson? Sure! Redfoo (of LMFAO fame) is a professional tennis player now, Marcus Jordan drove his Lambo on to the train tracks (and then demanded to hear Mariah Carey), Christy Carlson Romano got [accidentally] shot with a gun, Vic Mensa welcomed a son (Triple M!) and Chicken Shop Date's Amelia is dating someone... you'll gag when you find out who. Ellie Goulding is dating Marshmello! Maybe! Unclear! We'll see! Wow, what an ep! As always, call in at 619.WHO.THEM to leave questions, comments & concerns for a future episode of Who's There?. Huge week this week as we talk to comedian Anthony Locascio about Dover Heights and the Eastern Suburbs. Anthony tells us about the rivalry between his Headmaster and an unknown shaving foam spraying prankster, we discover Anthony was at the Golden Sheaf the very same night that Redfoo got glassed there, listen to the story of a student led siege at a local high school and get into the crazy Melissa Caddick story, complete with a person close to the case releasing a DJ album about it. It's nuts, and this episode is one of our finest. Get it on all pod apps.
Did anyone manage to capture the sound and feel of the early 2010s better than LMFAO? Don't get me wrong, that's not necessarily a good thing and looking back it now, their hit song “Party Rock Anthem” is a good example of just how quickly musical fads can come and go -- but damn, it's really been over ten years since that single first dropped? That's a crazy amount of time. Even crazier though? The fact that LMFAO is still floating out there somewhere in the cultural zeitgeist despite the fact that they were basically only popular for about a year before deciding to go their separate ways! Has enough time passed that we can affectionately reconsider the impact of Redfoo and SkyBlu now that they're more AWOL than they are LMFAO? Look, you don't wind up with the sixth-biggest Billboard single of all time just by accident... but that kind of success also breeds jealousy and contempt and at the end of the day, disagreements between these two would tear them apart. Already know what brought about the demise of LMFAO? Then fill us in down below. Everyone else, stay tuned to our newest episode of Where Are They Know to find out just how the party died.
Ever since I was a little kid Ice Cube was always in the house. I remember seeing Cubes "AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted" album (cassette tape) on the seat of my dads ugly old rusted Subaru. What always stood out to me about that album was the look on Ice Cubes face. When you think about Hip Hop Culture and you think, great music with a solid message and that's what O'Shea Jackson SR (Ice Cube) has been doing for the past 20+ years!Rather it be his hard hitting records like "Why We Thugs" or his light fun records like "Drop Girl" ft. Redfoo and 2Chainz, Cube is an artist that isn't afraid to be him at all times. This is also true for the films that Cube has been in as well. The first movie I ever seen Ice Cube in was a 1995 film called 'Higher Learning' starring Omar Epps, Laurence Fishburne, Tyra Banks and a plethora of other stars. This Drama really touched on racism within America and as a child I learned that hate comes from either misunderstandings or the lack of wanting to understand the next person. There is a lot to unpack when it comes to that topic and I know you didn't come here for that lol. The next film I remember from Cube was Friday! Another 1995 film except this one was no Drama, rather an American Comedy treasure! So, when Erockalypze gave me the word that I would be leading the Ice Cube Interview it was only natural that my stomach turned and my face got hot, the pressure was on. I never get nervous when talking with, well, anyone, but when I started to think about the career and person that O'Shea "Ice Cube" Jackson is, I got excited, not nervous but excited. I finally got the opportunity to talk to him about music, life, influences and the future. Obviously there are hundreds of other questions I would have loved to ask him but I didn't want to take up his whole morning. What question would you ask Cube if you had the chance?Artist; Ice CubeHost: DreRawkaRadio Show: Unrestricted w/ Drerawka 3PM-7PM | M-F

Whether we want to admit it or not, each of us is product of our parents…we are like mom and/or dad…and that may manifest itself in different ways… Maybe one of them was a great cook and that's led to a life-long love of food…maybe they introduced to travel and now you spend all your extra money on airfare…or maybe one of them had some kind of craft that you gravitated towards…carpenter, knitting, gardening… And chances are if you have musical parents, you're going to end up musical, too—at least to some extent…it's again that combination of nature and nurture… Now imagine that your mom or dad is a famous musician…cool people are always dropping in…there are tours and time spent in the studio and parties and industry events…for anyone else, that would be mind-blowing…but for you, it's just how life is… And because that's how your life is, you just fall into the lifestyle…you learn to play and write and perform…and because the parents have some connections and relationships, you might have the inside line on establishing a career… Others without famous parents will cry foul, but that's just the way it is…you're a member of the lucky sperm club… Some of these sons and daughters have actually done very well for themselves…Sean and Julian Lennon, son of John…four of five of Frank Zappa's kids have had musical careers…R&B singer Stella Santana, daughter of Carlos…Norah jones is the daughter of Ravi Shankar, the Beatles' favourite sitar player… and more recently, we have Wolfgang Van Halen, son of Eddie… Here's one that you may have missed…Redfoo of lmfao (he's the one with the afro and the big glasses) is the son of Berry Gordy, the founder of Motown…think he was able to parlay dad's contacts into something?...and here's one I missed for years…Gary Lewis and the playboys was a big 60s pop group…Gary is the son of Jerry Lewis, the comedian… What other parent-children connections are out there?...let's have a look…this is another edition of musical offspring… See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Reviewing the worst of the worst - so you don't have to!Nathan and Jacob go back to the early 2010s for a dose of Party Rock courtesy of Sky Blu and Redfoo - collectively known as LMFAO. The boys review their second album, "Sorry For Party Rocking", which contains mega singles like "Party Rock Anthem" and "I'm Sexy And I Know It" as well as collaborations with Calvin Harris and Will.i.am. Is there anything redeemable on an album almost entirely about partying, drinking, and chasing girls? Can you guys believe that it's already been a decade of party rocking?! Back in the early 2010s, the iconic pop-duo is known as LMFAO basically catered every single house party you ever attended, and if “Party Rock” didn't play at least three or four times a night, a lot of people would go home disappointed. LMFAO consisted of now 44-year old Redfoo, and 33-year old SkyBlu, an uncle and nephew duo who had actually been working on music with one another for well over six years before finding success. But after striking gold with “Party Rock Anthem” and “Sexy and I Know It”, they would bring their working relationship to an end, and if what's happened since then is anything to go by, throw their familial relationship into turmoil as well. Four years after the band called it quits, SkyBlu would accuse his Uncle of abandoning him when he needed him most while dealing with a major injury, not to mention withholding his royalties from LMFAO. So, how did what appeared to be the most carefree band in the world end up riddled in acrimony? You're about to find out.

Dylan is one of the most fascinating people I've had the pleasure of knowing, and interviewing. I first met him when he invited me to join NOIZ Society, a secret society for music people, and talking with him today, I learned there is so much more to him than writing. This interview was a lot of fun - we laughed a lot, and got to know each other as professionals. Dylan is an owner of Smashhaus.com, a company that provides custom music for 100's of the top shows on TV for 15 years and was the first to employ composers all over the world through the proprietary technology they built. They embed in Post Production facilities directly gaining access to producers and providing a more efficient music service than their competitors. AND - NO MIDDLE MAN !!!! Smashhaus profit share paid composers more than any other company in this field despite what they depict in their deals and never recouped our "admin fee". They paid exactly half of all income ever made to our composer/partners amounting in Millions. Since then, the business has been diluted by copy cats who slashed prices and I refuse to do so. Smashhaus is the little engine that beat up the big boys and thus Dylan is very proud of this company and the composer team worldwide that made it happen! Today, and as a result of this, we are focused on smaller run, highest quality work for media, not large scale production as we were before. ARTIST RUN 100%!! VIVA EL ARTISTE'S.
