The whole picture starts to come together.” [6:09] “When you love people, love them, even if they've hurt your feelings. Try to pour love on that person because if you can't find love for yourself, by giving love to someone else, it will come back to you. It opens your heart to give love.” [11:18] “One of the biggest issues we have with health is the choices we make, particularly around food. When I get a good night's sleep, I make better food choices. It's just a fact. The simplest, most base-level around health is what we choose to put in our mouth. If I make better choices when I make sleep, then sleep is the first marker for me.” [13:55] Links & Resources Get 10% Off Magnesium Supplements with code MAGNESIUM and Check Out the Blog Post: The Magnificence of Magnesium Find Your Longevity Blueprint Online Follow Your Longevity Blueprint on Instagram | Facebook | Twitter | YouTube | LinkedIn Get your copy of the Your Longevity Blueprint book and claim your bonuses here Find Dr. Stephanie Gray and Your Longevity Blueprint online Follow Dr. Stephanie Gray on Facebook | Instagram | Youtube | Twitter | LinkedIn Integrative Health and Hormone Clinic Podcast Production by the team at Counterweight Creative Related Episodes Episode 27: Top 20 Longevity Tips From 2020 Episode 56: Top 2021 Longevity Tips Part I Episode 71: 9 Keys To Optimal Health With Dr. Jim Lavalle

Great foods to support eye health include: Leafy greens Carrots Broccoli Cauliflower Berries About Dr. Rudrani Banik Dr. Rudrani Banik is America's Integrative Eye Doctor. She is a board-certified ophthalmologist and fellowship-trained neuro-ophthalmologist with additional training in Functional Medicine. Dr. Rani focuses on the root cause of eye diseases and uses integrative strategies for conditions such as macular degeneration, cataract, dry eye, glaucoma, and autoimmune diseases of the visual system. Dr. Rani has been voted as Castle Connolly Top Doctor and New York Magazine's Best Doctor in Ophthalmology every year since 2017. Eye Health Starts With Good Nutrition Dr. Rani explains why nutrition is the cornerstone to good vision. A proper diet will even reduce the risk of developing certain eye diseases, such as macular degeneration. This is particularly true with antioxidants. A diet that's rich in antioxidants, particularly when derived from plants, will include many nutrients that protect the eye. Dr. Rani suggests eating a wide variety of vegetables every day to keep your eyes strong. In addition to food, there are supplements that can help. Dr. Rani recommends daily supplements that contain lutein, zeaxanthin, and meso-zeaxanthin. These antioxidants play an important role in managing the light that comes into our eyes. Protecting Your Eyes From Harmful Light Dr. Rani also talks about the impact of blue light on our eyes. This is the light that comes from the Sun and helps regulate our sleep cycles. It also comes from screens. Too much of this light can lead to digital eye strain and disrupted sleep patterns. To combat this, Dr. Rani recommends using blue-light-blocking glasses. To that end, she discusses what to look for when shopping for these special glasses. You also have to consider sunlight. UV light can damage your eyes. Dr. Rani shares her recommendations for finding the most protective sunglasses. Look for ones that block 100 percent of UV light. Also, the bigger the sunglasses, the better. How can you eat right to protect your eyes? What role can supplements play in this? Leave a comment on the episode page! Moving from academic medicine to private practice is a scary thing to do for any doctor. But what is it like for a specialist is the city with the highest concentration of her specialty to find patients? Oh, and she also decided to go without taking insurance to avoid all of the headaches and extra paperwork! My guest today is Dr.Rudrani Banik, a board certified ophthalmologist and fellowship trained in neuro-ophthalmology who treats patients with vision disturbances, headaches, and other neurological conditions related to the eye. By leaving academics (partly since she still does research) and striking out on her own, she recognized the need to do more than just practice medicine. Not only was she able to practice functional medicine which involves nutrition and lifestyle changes, but she was now forced to learn how to brand herself in order to attract patients in a competitive market. In this episode, Dr. Banik discusses her strategy of creating content to drive traffic and patients through the use of search engine optimization, video content, and eBooks. These are things she never thought of creating for herself as a physician but discovered that they were not only important - but fun to learn. We also discuss the approach she takes for treating patients with migraine headaches which includes temporary dietary restrictions, an evaluation of sleep and stress, and using supplements. All of that can be found in a handy eBook, of course! Dr. Rudrani Banik is a neuro-ophthalmologist who runs Envision Health NYC. She specializes in treating vision disorders, headaches, and incorporates functional medicine in her treatments. show notes Envision Health NYC: Dr. Banik's practice and website where you can access her media, appearances, and eBooks.
