It is an honor and privilege to welcome singer-songwriter and performer Liv Warfield to The Jake's Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast. A former track star and gymnast, Peoria, Illinois-born Liv Warfield began building her legend in Portland, Oregon. Despite having no formal background in singing, she gained the respect of local superstars and became an icon in her own right. While she takes cues from musical influences like Nina Simone, Etta James, Mavis Staples, Sade, Tina Turner, and Mary J. Blige, Warfield has carved out a style all her own, which can best be described as “alternative soul with a lil bit of Rock ‘n' Roll.” In 2006, she self-released her debut album, Embrace Me. By 2009, she caught the eye of the one-and-only Prince and ultimately joined his group, the “New Power Generation.” After touring for several years and soaking up as much knowledge as she could from the ultimate music mentor, Warfield made her big splash on the national scene in 2014, first as a featured artist for VH1's “You Oughta Know” campaign and then with the release of her major label debut album “The Unexpected,” which was executive produced by Prince. What followed were show-stopping performances on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, The Late Show with David Letterman, and The Arsenio Hall Show; a 2014 Soul Train Music Award and nominations for two others; a BET Best New Artist Award nomination; an interview with National Public Radio; and high-profile cosigns from Lionel Richie, Cyndi Lauper, and Nancy Wilson of HEART. That same year, Warfield's performance closing out Essence Fest was hailed as one of the most memorable after-shows at the New Orleans House of Blues. In 2015, the accolades grew, with Warfield and the NPG Hornz being named one of the top 10 bands to see at the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland. It's no wonder she has left celebrities like Letterman declaring it's time to “cancel show business!” In 2017, Warfield began the next phase of her ascension, collaborating with another of her childhood influences, the aforementioned Nancy Wilson, to create the band Roadcase Royale. Their lead single, “Get Loud,” was featured prominently in the 2017 Women's March, and they released their debut album, First Things First, later that year. If that weren't enough, their remake of HEART's “These Dreams” was featured in Molly's Game, which starred Idris Elba, Jessica Chastain, and Kevin Costner. Warfield recently recorded music for the Oscar-nominated HBO documentary Da Bronx. She also tipped her hat into the theater realm to rave reviews playing Madame ZinZanni in the Chicago version of Teatro ZinZanni. This past summer, Liv Warfield auditioned for the NBC talent competition America's Got Talent: Season 19. Liv and her band performed an original song: “Stare,” that received a standing ovation from not only judges Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum, Sofia Vergara, and Simon Cowell but also a Golden Buzzer from the Got Talent creator. During the AGT: Season 19 Quarterfinals, Liv and the band blew the audience away by performing “The Unexpected,” a song Prince wrote for her. In this edition of The Jake's Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast, Liv Warfield spoke about the lessons she learned from Prince, her time on AGT, and performing in Teatro ZinZanni. . . . ¡Todo un Power Moment! . An award-winning global director of cirque, cinema and stage. As a comic act designer he specializes in clowns, characters and story components. Stefan is the author of The Power of HA!Connecting Through the Heart of Humor. He studied theatre in college only to realize that his true passion lay in the cross-over to the circus arts, so he set his sights on Cirque du Soleil. As a result of his intuitive gift for mining actors' true potential, various sit-coms hired him to coach actors, including The Roseanne Show. After self-producing a number of critically acclaimed plays in Hollywood and New York City (Call of the Wild, Midsummer Nite's Text, Your Town Follies, Moon Over Madness, Atomic Holiday Lift-Off) he traveled to Europe to juggle on the streets and study with the premiere master-teacher, Philippe Gaulier. This move resulted in a collaboration with Bill Irwin and David Shiner on the Tony- winning show Fool Moon. Haves was then poached by Cirque du Soleil, collaborating on clown and character performances within six touring and resident productions (Kooza, Iris, Amaluna, Banana Shpeel, Zaya, and Drawn to Life). Prior to that, he wrote and directed the world-class Teatro Zinzanni—a dinner/ cabaret featuring such luminaries as Joan Baez. Today, Stefan Haves is a trusted international thought-leader who was tapped to present a TedX Talk in New Delhi, India, and was invited to conduct personal appearances for blue-chip companies like PepsiCo, Infosys, Mindtree, and Barclays Bank. He gleefully shares his innovative message on the role of humor, creativity, and effective expression gleaned from the stage and applied to the corporate workplace. In 2021 Haves was granted the opportunity to co-direct Katy Perry's Playland-branded New Year's dinner/cirque event at Hilton's Resort World in Las Vegas. Earlier in his career, Haves cut his teeth as an actor and a visual-comedian who appeared on stages and television shows worldwide—even garnering $10,000 on America's Funniest People by performing his signature piece "Back-Man". Stefan's 2016 original conception of the spectacle Festigal, in which Haves was tasked to showcase famous pop celebrities from television's Romania's Got Talent, used a Cirque du Soleil aesthetic in a stadium setting. His cinematic offerings include the award-winning short film Punch Drunk, featuring Academy Award nominee Sally Kellerman (M*A*S*H) and full-length feature Stalled starring Doug Jones (Pan's Labyrinth).

This is a fun two part interview with Frank Ferrante. The first half we talk about Frank's Italian Roots. In the second half we talk about his career in acting specifically his one man show, "An Evening With Groucho."FRANK FERRANTE (Actor/Writer) is the recipient of New York's Theatre World Award for 'Outstanding Debut,' a New York Outer Critics Circle nomination, London's Laurence Olivier Award nomination for 'Comedy Performance of the Year,' Washington D.C.'s Helen Hayes nomination and two Connecticut Critics Circle Awards. His New York, London and PBS performances in the title role in Groucho: A Life in Revue received not only acclaim from critics and audiences but from the Marx family.Ferrante was discovered by Groucho Marx's son playwright Arthur Marx as a 22 year old drama student at USC performing An Evening With Groucho for a 1985 senior project. Arthur subsequently cast Frank to portray Groucho Marx for the heralded 1986-87 production of Arthur's Groucho: A Life in Revue that played Off-Broadway at the Lucille Lortel Theatre for 254 performances. Ricardo has since settled in the United States, where he has worked extensively in nightclubs, casinos, and circuses, including Circus Circus and the Bellagio Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada; Teatro ZinZanni in Seattle, Washington and San Francisco, California; Universoul Circus; and Circus Sarasota. He has also embarked on an international career, appearing with Circo Moira Orfei in Italy and numerous variety shows in Germany, notably with GOP Varieté and Palazzo.Swiss Circus Ukrainian Artist Donation Effort:https://donate.redcrossredcrescent.org/ch/WirAlleZusammen-10211/~my-donation?fbclid=IwAR3JGIRsxTb1OZ_OANGjegcKe-KwGLPxlnIHItQboz0eepMgLApslPG5be0Ukrainian Students of Art & Theater GoFund Me:https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-ukraines-displaced-children-of-the-arts?utm_campaign=p_lico+share-sheet&utm_medium=copy_link&utm_source=customer&fbclid=IwAR3AGZTnBJi5fJ23Vy54XdmVwMCM3W_JfS5UyN8yFs667z09b-vxQzSVMEcPlease consider becoming a PATRON to encourage the continued growth, expansion and evolution of this podcast- Enjoy Early Releases Of The Podcast! #patreonhttps://www.patreon.com/livelikeanacrobatpodcastThis episode of the podcast was sponsored by Zencastr-Zencastr Special 30% Coupon Code: Zencastr is THE BEST podcasting platform:https://zencastr.com/pricing?coupon=sheneastiletto&interval=monthlyWww.Circuspreneurblog.comLive Like An Acrobat #Podcast #Spotify:https://open.spotify.com/episode/6O0utPJ8MJfM6QmwPd4lsV?si=GHHQvY9PQ4uk3iniJYoHVQ#ITunes: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/shenea-stiletto-live-like-an-acrobat/id1514321355Follow @sheneastiletto on Instagramhttps://www.instagram.com/sheneastiletto/?hl=en@livelikeanacrobatpodcast:https://www.instagram.com/livelikeanacrobatpodcast/Facebook: Live Like An Acrobat Podcast-
The brilliant, multi-talented Frank Ferrante, has enjoyed a 35-year career in the theater as an actor, director and producer. At age 23, he debuted Off-Broadway in the title role in Groucho: A Life in Revue written by Arthur Marx, son of the legendary comedian Groucho Marx. For that role, Frank won New York's Theatre World Award and a New York Outer Critics Circle nomination. He revived the role in London's West End, where he was nominated for the Laurence Olivier Award for ‘Comedy Performance of the Year.' Since then, he's reprised the role more than 3,000 times in over 500 cities throughout the world primarily in his touring solo show An Evening With Groucho, which was filmed at the Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park and re-titled Frank Ferrante's Groucho for broadcast on PBS.The Chicago Tribune named Frank a 2019 top ten theater performer for his work as comic host, The Caesar, in the cirque spectacular, Teatro ZinZanni – a role he's played for 20 years. At Philadelphia's Walnut Street Theatre, he directed and played the lead role of Pseudolus in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, which the Wall Street Journal called one of the country's top 10 performances of 2017.In 1995, he directed and developed the world premiere of the Pulitzer Prize finalist Old Wicked Songs. On television, he played a speaking mime on Rob Corddry's Emmy Award-winning comedy, Childrens Hospital, and his voice can be heard on the animated series SpongeBob SquarePants and Garfield. In October 2021, Frank received a 'star' on the Palm Springs Walk of Stars for his contributions to theater.

Discovered at USC by Arthur Marx (the playwright son of Groucho Marx), Frank Ferrante has had the pleasure of performing as Groucho Marx in the productions of “Groucho: A Life In Revue” and “An Evening With Groucho.” He's performed on stages from all around the United States to the United Kingdom to Australia. He has also performed in the role of The Caesar in “Teatro Zinzanni,” a physically demanding character in a mostly improvisational production with dancers and aerialists. I had the pleasure of seeing Mr. Ferrante perform in Freeport, NY in the spring of 2014 with my family. He was both amazing and gracious. He is ready to roll out a filmed version of “An Evening With Groucho” (simply called “Frank Ferrante's Groucho)” for Public Television Stations in the United States. Directed by Dreya Weber (“The Gymnast,” “The Aerialist,” “A Marine Story,”), this is one of the most anticipated performances ever for PBS stations. Frank was kind enough to sit down for a chat with my self and James “JL” Lillquist (Rat Salad Review, Beyond Bushido) where we discussed his career, his plans, his relationships with members of the golden age of comedy, his friendships with Groucho's children, and more. For more on Frank Ferrante, check out his official website at https://eveningwithgroucho.com. Thank you, Mr. Frank Ferrante, for blessing the podcast with your presence. Born in Chicago and raised in Phoenix, Arizona, Francine Reed has had a passion for singing since her early childhood. She began singing professionally with her family's gospel group when she was five. "I always say I was born singing," Reed has said in a biographical release. "I can still remember my first performance when I was a 3-year-old in my aunt's church. I used to listen to rehearsals with her gospel choir and I'd sing 'I Wanna See Jesus' in front of the congregation...It's a natural, God-given talent." After marrying young, the everyday struggles of life kept Reed from pursuing her dream of singing full-time until her children were older. Fortunately, she was able to sing in local jazz clubs and at various functions in Phoenix. She became known for her powerful voice and commanding stage presence, and delivered an eclectic blend of jazz, blues, and R&B. She was often the opening act for such headliners as Miles Davis, Etta James, Smokey Robinson, and the Crusaders. In 1985, friends introduced Reed to Lyle Lovett, who was searching for a female singerfor his new band. Lovett was still a struggling, virtually unknown performer when they began their association, but as his star rose, Reed became an integral part of his show. Reed began touring with Lovett and his Large Band as a background vocalist, and also often performed duets with the country musician. She was featured with Lovett on several albums, and appeared with him on television shows such as "Late Night with David Letterman," "The Tonight Show," and "Regis and Kathy Lee." In the mid 1990s, she decided to pursue a solo career and moved to Atlanta, Georgia. Here she recorded her debut solo album, "I Want You to Love Me," which featured a duet with Lyle Lovett. Her follow-up, "Can't Make It On My Own," featured a duet with Delbert McClinton. The success of these early works resulted in nominations for the prestigious W.C. Handy Award. (Blues Song of the Year and Soul/Blues - Female Artist of the Year - 1997) Reed continued to release several solo albums and has collaborated with other great performers, as well. She performed on Willie Nelson's acclaimed album Milk Cow Blues (2000), lending her soulful voice to the title track as well as to the song "Funny How Time Slips Away." She has also contributed vocals to the recordings of Delbert McClinton and Roy Orbison. Francine Reed has become one of Atlanta's most treasured artists and continues to expand her fan base at venues around the country. For several months out of the year, she performs in Seattle or San Francisco, appearing as the Chanteuse for Teatro ZinZanni. She describes the avant-garde production as "Cirque du Soleil meets dinner-in-the-round, on acid." Reed continually blesses audiences with her amazing vocals and vibrant personality; she is truly a musical experience that should not be missed.
