Wellness + Wisdom | Episode 746 Are you ready to reconfigure your past and reimagine humanity's future through the power of outrageous love? Visionary Philosopher Marc Gafni joins Josh Trent on the Wellness + Wisdom Podcast, episode 746, to guide you from mythic narratives of soul mates to the co-creative vision of whole mates: evolutionary partners in service of the cosmos. Learn how the gift of suffering becomes the pathway to transcendence, why raising children is a spiritual act of embodiment, and how solving humanity's value crisis can spark a galactic awakening. "Soulmate relationships don't work. They're insufficient. If a couple is not looking at a shared horizon and they are only looking deeply in each other's eyes, it will not work. Whole mates are not just looking deeply in each other's eyes. They're first looking at a shared horizon, a shared mission. They're looking at the whole. They're in a relationship to the whole. And then from there, they turn back and look at each other." - Marc Gafni In This Episode, Marc Gafni Uncovers: [01:20] Outrageous Love Marc Gafni Why 'I love you' is our sacred creed. How facing death puts us in our visceral truth. Why we've lost connection to the meaning of 'I love you.' The difference between ordinary love and outrageous love. How love allows us to give our unique gifts. When we're in love, we feel welcome in the cosmos. Why reality is not a fact but an outrageous love story. How reality is generated. [09:50] What Is Evolution? Whole Mate by Marc Gafni The three levels of knowing. How we get lost in the complexity, which blocks us from seeing the depth. Every place we've been, we needed to be. Why every detour is part of the destination. How reality has mathematical, musical, molecular, metabolic, moral, and mystical values. Why reality is movement towards transformation. Evolution is love in action in response to need. How becoming what reality intended us to be, divinity experiences self-recognition through us. If we don't have the experience that we matter, our mind, heart, and body break down. [20:20] The Three Faces of God Why the God we don't believe in doesn't exist. The importance of the word 'God.' Why outrageous love is not a response to another person but the love that moves through us. The three faces of God: first, second, and third person. Neil deGrasse Tyson How religions show the faces of God. [29:50] New World Why we're in a time between worlds. How 40% of AI researchers believe that AI could destroy all humanity. 692 Paul Chek | Spirit Gym: How To Find The Truth of Your Soul + Live Your Dream How we can create a new story of values for the world. [35:45] Divine Loneliness Why God is lonely. How we need separation to create intimacy. What it means to be lonely. How Marc's son made him see the human singularity. The importance of knowing our soul print. How we cover up our emptiness by getting our attention hijacked. Why we need to sit in loneliness in order to fill up with our soul print. The divine is being, spaciousness, and becoming. Why evolution is a love story of the universe. How wholeness comes from brokenness. [47:25] Pseudo-Eros + Shame Why pornography is pseudo-Eros. How pornography is explicit sexuality taken out of the context of a story. Why our relationship to essence is always sensual. How our shame tells a story that we're wrong. Why a great saint makes new mistakes. The meaning of the word 'hallelujah.' [56:10] From Soul Mate to Whole Mate Why soulmate relationships don't work. Evolution of Love from Quarks to Culture by Marc Gafni, Zak Stein + Elena Levin Why reality is evolution, relationships, and the evolution of relationships. How crisis drives evolution, and the movement is an evolution of relationships. The evolution from role mate to soul mate to whole mate. The Boy Crisis by Warren Farrell + John Gray How each one of us has a role within a relationship in order to survive and thrive. The importance of having a shared vision as a couple. Social Physics by Alex Pentland Why most children don't believe in love anymore. Sapiens by Harari Yuval Noah [01:30:35] Raising Children As Whole Mates 744 Debra Silverman | Your Pain Has a Pattern… and Astrology Reveals It All (This Isn't Random) What embodiment feels like. Tommy Aguilar founded Universal Grammar as a collective of like-minded individuals interested in producing events that could shape culture through music, art, and community curating. Tommy prefers the title of ‘producer' rather than ‘music promoter' to describe his work. He treats event production as an art form. He shares, “Everything that Universal Grammar has done since day one has been very intentional. It was born out of what I saw in San Jose and not seeing a space for myself.” In this conversation, Tommy Aguilar discusses the very early days of his interest in music and event production, the nuanced arena of producing music events in the South Bay, what events he has coming up, and the future of Universal Grammar. This episode explores the biological basis of language, tracing its origins from early hominins to modern Homo sapiens, and examining the role of genetic mutations, brain structures, social interactions, and environmental factors in the evolution of language. The study also considers the comparative analysis of the communication systems of nonhuman primates to highlight the distinctiveness and complexity of human language. Darwinian perspectives, while insightful in highlighting natural selection, often lack concrete evidence ‎linking specific evolutionary pressures directly to linguistic changes. Nativist theories, particularly ‎Chomsky's Universal Grammar, propose an innate language faculty, yet they can be criticized for ‎insufficiently accounting for the vast linguistic diversity and the complex, gradual nature of language ‎change that historical linguistics documents. Cultural evolution theory emphasizes social learning and ‎cultural transmission, which aligns more closely with observed language changes over time, but it often ‎underestimates the deep structural similarities and divergences traced through rigorous historical ‎comparative methods. In my view, these theories tend to oversimplify the intricate, multifaceted processes ‎underlying language evolution, which historical comparative linguistics reveals through systematic analysis ‎of phonological, morphological, and syntactic changes across languages and time periods. Hence, while ‎they offer valuable perspectives, they do not fully capture the empirical complexities and nuances ‎uncovered by historical comparative linguistics.‎

He studies language change as a source of insight into the ways languages constitute intimate parts of our everyday lives, and at the same time are foundational for large-scale institutions, social groups, and social dynamics. He has worked mostly in Indonesia, studying Javanese (90 million speakers), Indonesian (250 million speakers) and a range of Malay dialects. He has also worked on questions of language ideology and practice: how conceptions of language can shape and reflect social interests, naturalize images of social groups, and shape everyday ways of talking.   In this episode, we talk about some topics in linguistics. We discuss language ideologies. We talk about the history of linguistics, and its ties to colonialism, including the invention of hierarchies of languages; stripping languages of their sociocultural context, and issues with the Universal Grammar approach; imposing written forms on languages; reducing languages to the versions used by social elites; and the invention of national languages. We also discuss misconceptions about non-standard versions of languages; threats to marginalized languages and their communities; and how these issues manifest in the Javanese and the Indonesian language. -- A HUGE THANK YOU TO MY PATRONS/SUPPORTERS: PER HELGE LARSEN, JERRY MULLER, HANS FREDRIK SUNDE, BERNARDO SEIXAS, OLAF ALEX, ADAM KESSEL, MATTHEW WHITINGBIRD, ARNAUD WOLFF, TIM HOLLOSY, HENRIK AHLENIUS, JOHN CONNORS, FILIP FORS CONNOLLY, DAN DEMETRIOU, ROBERT WINDHAGER, RUI INACIO, ZOOP, MARCO NEVES, COLIN HOLBROOK, SIMON COLUMBUS, PHIL KAVANAGH, MIKKEL STORMYR, SAMUEL ANDREEFF, FRANCIS FORDE, TIAGO NUNES, FERGAL CUSSEN, HAL HERZOG, NUNO MACHADO, JONATHAN LEIBRANT, JOÃO LINHARES, STANTON T, SAMUEL CORREA, ERIK HAINES, MARK SMITH, JOÃO EIRA, TOM HUMMEL, SARDUS FRANCE, DAVID SLOAN WILSON, YACILA DEZA-ARAUJO, ROMAIN ROCH, DIEGO LONDOÑO CORREA, YANICK PUNTER, ADANER USMANI, CHARLOTTE BLEASE, NICOLE BARBARO, ADAM HUNT, PAWEL OSTASZEWSKI, NELLEKE BAK, GUY MADISON, GARY G HELLMANN, SAIMA AFZAL, ADRIAN JAEGGI, PAULO TOLENTINO, JOÃO BARBOSA, JULIAN PRICE, EDWARD HALL, HEDIN BRØNNER, DOUGLAS FRY, FRANCA BORTOLOTTI, GABRIEL PONS CORTÈS, URSULA LITZCKE, SCOTT, ZACHARY FISH, TIM DUFFY, SUNNY SMITH, JON WISMAN, DANIEL FRIEDMAN, WILLIAM BUCKNER, PAUL-GEORGE ARNAUD, LUKE GLOWACKI, GEORGIOS THEOPHANOUS, CHRIS WILLIAMSON, PETER WOLOSZYN, DAVID WILLIAMS, DIOGO COSTA, ANTON ERIKSSON, CHARLES MOREY, ALEX CHAU, AMAURI MARTÍNEZ, CORALIE CHEVALLIER, BANGALORE ATHEISTS, LARRY D. In this episode of AUHSD Future Talks, Superintendent Matsuda interviews Professor Avram Noam Chomsky. Mr. Chomsky was born on December 7, 1928 and he is one of the most cited public intellectuals of the 21st century: a linguist, philosopher, cognitive scientist, historian, social critic, and political activist. He is a Laureate Professor of Linguistics at the University of Arizona starting in 2017 and was an Institute Professor Emeritus at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) from 2001 to 2017. He has authored more than 150 books on topics on linguistics, war, politics, and mass media. Considered to be "the father of modern linguistics", for such reasons as working on the concept of "Universal Grammar" he continues to investigate language with the concept and theory of Transformational-Generative Grammar. He not only has written numerous books but he has engaged in philosophical debates with intellectuals and modern philosophers. Some noteworthy intellectuals and philosophers he debated were Michel Foucault, Tyler Burge, Donald Davidson, Michael Dummett, Saul Kripke, Thomas Nagel, Hilary Putnam, Willard Van Orman Quine, and John Searle. During the talk with Superintendent Matsuda, Professor Chomsky discusses his educational experience, mass public education, "banking" form of education, three existential threats that face humanity, the connection between his linguistic work and education, the way forward for young people, democracy and education, and his message to young people.

Geometry might be innate in the same way as language. There are many languages, each of which is an equally coherent and viable paradigm of thought, and the same can be said for Euclidean and non-Euclidean geometries. As our native language is shaped by experience, so might our “native geometry” be. Yet substantive innate conceptions … Continue reading The “universal grammar” of space: what geometry is innate?

We then talk about religion: how notions of god vary with ecology; the relationship between Big Gods and social complexity; and ritual human sacrifice and the evolution of stratified societies. We discuss D-PLACE, and the difficulties in building comparative cultural databases. Finally, we discuss animal cognition, with a focus on the cognition of New Caledonian crows and their tool use. We talk about tool use in animals, the relationship between brain size and cognitive ability, and the problems with talking about a generally “smart” species and “one cognition”. -- A HUGE THANK YOU TO MY PATRONS/SUPPORTERS: KARIN LIETZCKE, ANN BLANCHETTE, PER HELGE LARSEN, LAU GUERREIRO, JERRY MULLER, HANS FREDRIK SUNDE, BERNARDO SEIXAS, HERBERT GINTIS, RUTGER VOS, RICARDO VLADIMIRO, CRAIG HEALY, OLAF ALEX, PHILIP KURIAN, JONATHAN VISSER, JAKOB KLINKBY, ADAM KESSEL, MATTHEW WHITINGBIRD, ARNAUD WOLFF, TIM HOLLOSY, HENRIK AHLENIUS, JOHN CONNORS, PAULINA BARREN, FILIP FORS CONNOLLY, DAN DEMETRIOU, ROBERT WINDHAGER, RUI INACIO, ARTHUR KOH, ZOOP, MARCO NEVES, COLIN HOLBROOK, SUSAN PINKER, PABLO SANTURBANO, SIMON COLUMBUS, PHIL KAVANAGH, JORGE ESPINHA, ROBERTO INGUANZO, MIKKEL STORMYR, ERIC NEURMANN, SAMUEL ANDREEFF, FRANCIS FORDE, TIAGO NUNES, BERNARD HUGUENEY, ALEXANDER DANNBAUER, FERGAL CUSSEN, YEVHEN BODRENKO, HAL HERZOG, NUNO MACHADO, DON ROSS, JONATHAN LEIBRANT, JOÃO LINHARES, OZLEM BULUT, NATHAN NGUYEN, STANTON T, SAMUEL CORREA, ERIK HAINES, MARK SMITH, J.W., JOÃO EIRA, TOM HUMMEL, SARDUS FRANCE, DAVID SLOAN WILSON, YACILA DEZA-ARAUJO, IDAN SOLON, ROMAIN ROCH, DMITRY GRIGORYEV, TOM ROTH, DIEGO LONDOÑO CORREA, YANICK PUNTER, ADANER USMANI, CHARLOTTE BLEASE, NICOLE BARBARO, ADAM HUNT, PAWEL OSTASZEWSKI, AL ORTIZ, NELLEKE BAK, KATHRINE AND PATRICK TOBIN, GUY MADISON, GARY G HELLMANN, SAIMA AFZAL, ADRIAN JAEGGI, NICK GOLDEN, PAULO TOLENTINO, JOÃO BARBOSA, JULIAN PRICE, EDWARD HALL, HEDIN BRØNNER, DOUGLAS P. Pierre Sabak was born in West Yorkshire in 1973. Sabak first became interested in the subject of UFOs, when at the age of tenhe saw a landed ‘rocket’ in a farmer’s field, whilst playing outside near his grandmother’s house. Leaving a deep impression, this sighting has led to his profound interest in ‘flying saucers’ and their cultural significance. Pierre first became interested in the ‘Language of Symbolism’ when he studied Art History at the University of Wales. This interest led him to write and illustrate‘The Murder of Reality, Hidden Symbolism of the Dragon’ 2010, and ‘Holographic Culture’ 2018. The books were received with great acclaim. The French author and historian Mourad Faher wrote ‘I think without flattery Pierre Sabak is elaborating a true science that is to history what quantum physics is to Newtonian physics’. An academic and researcher, Sabak is well known for his presentations within British Exopolitics, and has lectured extensively on the subject of ‘Angelic Sailors’. He has been featured innumerous publications, including David Icke’s ‘Human Race Get off your Knees,The Lion Sleeps No More’ and NEXUS magazine. A world leading expert in the field of New Ufology, Sabak hasalso served as an advisor to Ridley Scott Associates. Pierre's work is unique, in that his writing combines Visual Theory (Semiotics) with the Deconstruction of Ufology. A pioneering symbologist, Sabak is famous for his development of the field of New Ufology, which utilises occult symbolism to deconstruct ‘Skaphology’ (the study of angelic vessels throughout religion and mythology). A leading expert on linguistics and ancient ciphers, his major breakthrough within Ufology is the ‘Uncovering of the Artefact’ – a secret ‘Alien Code’ found within language. Worldwide, this code is based upon polyglottal symbolism and its exploitation of Universal Grammar.   More info: Pierre Sabak Website | Pierre Sabak YouTube Host: John Gibbons Music: Echo & The Bunnymen - People Are Strange Contact: info@alchemyradio.net Website: www.alchemyradio.net Twitter: www.twitter.com/alchemyradio Facebook: www.facebook.com/alchemyradio.net

The boys start the new series with a bang. And a new format. One question, one scientist, plenty of relatively well-informed chat. To kick off, Rick and Michael go extra-terrestrial with 2016’s linguistic thriller ‘Arrival’. We’re talking a hundred words for snow, we’re talking babies on an island, and we’re talking (not so) Universal Grammar. Featuring: Dr Jessica Coon

MCMP – Metaphysics and Philosophy of Language

Thomas Ede Zimmermann (Frankfurt) gives a talk at the MCMP Colloquium (25 June, 2015) titled "Fregean Compositionality". Abstract: The distinction between transparent and opaque contexts has always played a major rôle in theories of linguistic semantics, though it has undergone a number of reformulations and precisifications since its origins in Frege’s classical substitution arguments. Most dramatically, the unfathomable distinction between Sinn and Bedeutung has been recast in more perspicuous set-theoretic terms, trading Frege’s senses for Carnap’s intensions and identifying functions with their courses of values. Still, at least part of the Fregean architecture has survived all these transformations. In particular, (i) the strategy of treating extensionality as the default case of semantic composition and invoking intensions only when need be, has become part of most common approaches to the syntax-semantics interface. On the other hand, (ii) Frege’s apparent commitment to a hierarchy of senses in the analysis of iterated opacity has been discarded for its alleged lack of cogency and coherence. In the talk I will take a closer look at both aspects of the Fregean architecture within the standard possible worlds framework of Montague’s Universal Grammar. Concerning (i), it will be argued that the Fregean strategy results in an interpretation of intensional constructions (i.e., opaque contexts) that goes beyond mere intensional compositionality in that it imposes a certain kind of uniformity on the pertinent semantic combinations. As to (ii), it will be shown how a hierarchy of intensions may help restoring compositionality when extensional and intensional scope effects appear to be out of tune. The historical background notwithstanding, the the talk will take systematic perspective, aiming at a better understanding and possible improvement of compositionality in possible worlds semantics.

UXⁿ: The Implications of Sampson’s Proof of Universal Science; by Bjorn-Bob Weaselflinger; From Volume CLIV, Number 1, of Speculative Grammarian, May 2008 — As this author has noted elsewhere, it is not uncommon in linguistics—just as in other sciences—for an observation with stunning implications for the field to go largely unnoticed; a researcher will advance an analysis to deal with a highly localized, recalcitrant problem without realizing that the analysis itself is a revolutionary advance. Some advances do draw attention, but the attention itself remains localized, and the wider significance of the advance isn’t recognized for quite some time. (Read by Trey Jones.)

Linguists Need Prescriptivists, and probably Pig Latin, too; by Dr. Illiamway Afiresay, hDPay; Dr. Iamwill Iresaf, DPh; and Dr. Willopiamop Safopireop, PophopDop; From Volume CLVI, Number 1, of Speculative Grammarian, March 2009 — It has been theorized before that many of the perceived constraints on human language (and thus on any universal grammar of human language) are actually more likely to be constraints on the ways that human languages can change as they are transmitted from one generation to the next. On the other hand, language games, such as Pig Latin, Verlan, or Opish, often require transformations that violate the so-called “rules” of Universal Grammar. (Read by Trey Jones.)
