Vonetta Carter, devoted wife to husband, Veronne, mother to a beautifully blended family of five young adults, as well as three elementary-aged girls, and a grandmother of two precious granddaughters and one grandson is a reflection of God's redeeming love. Vonetta faithfully, and passionately intercedes with revelation knowledge praying and declaring the Father's heart into every situation; She understands prayer ushers in Holy Spirit power. Victoriously overcoming tremendous trials and tribulations has enabled Vonetta to humbly yet with authority wisely mentor the women God entrusts her. Motivational, by nature, she encourages and exhorts the Church body, through public speaking as well as through personal coaching. Ministering to women, from every walk of life, is a call Vonetta commits to wholeheartedly. She understands, from her own experience, how God desires his children to be whole, and to thrive in every facet of their lives- mentally, spiritually, emotionally, physically, and financially. Confronting trauma and receiving inner healing is key to wholeness. A chapter coordinator for Save One, a ministry focusing on recovering from the pain, shame, and torment of abortion, Vonetta meets women, with an open heart and extended hand, in their brokenness. With empathy from her loss, Vonetta shares her story with the liberating truth of God's word setting captives free. Because of her obedience, sacrificial love, and submission to God's lead, women experience Him, who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that they ask or think. Vonetta's candid transparency and journey paint a picture of how God begins work in each of us that he promises to bring to completion.

Vonetta Wade is The Journey Coach and a soul sister extraordinaire. The moment she showed up and shared her story, I immediately felt like we were part of the same tribe. Vonetta is the owner and CEO of Achieving Your Purpose, where she coaches individuals and families, guiding them into their purpose. In a chapter of her life, Vonetta felt like she was failing as a mother due to the challenges of single parenthood, non-effective communication, and conflict with her teenage daughter. This struggle led her to seek answers on what a healthy parent-child relationship should be. She soon founded MUST, a community of parents supporting each other in dealing with the same struggles she experienced. Vonetta joins me today to share her life as a single mother and the lessons she learned from the experience. She explains how she realized that she had generational trauma to heal and describes the work she put in to break its cycle. She illustrates how she decided to become a better parent, reached out to a community of parents, and later established MUST. She also shares how she became the “Journey Coach” and highlights what it means to have internal growth and success. “No one knows what you’re dealing with internally, and that’s the biggest challenge. You can be successful on the outside, but it’s the inside that matters the most.” - Vonetta Wade This week on Rebel Souls: Doing uncomfortable work for the sake of the next generation The power of affirmation and being reminded of our enoughness Vonetta’s journey in becoming aware and breaking the cycle of generational trauma Becoming a mother at 16, learning the tools of parenting, and how Vonetta realized she needed to undo generational trauma How being around other people changes your perspective and how Vonetta started reaching out to a community of parents Transforming pain into purpose Sitting still to listen deeply to what our souls are telling us What internal growth and success mean and how they informed Vonetta’s book, Proceed Through the Uncomfortable Vonetta’s path to becoming the Journey Coach Why fostering deep human connection includes sharing our most vulnerable stories Redefining success and what Vonetta does to reconnect with her soul and spirit Vonetta’s mentors and Personal Board of Directors Looking at other people for inspiration rather than comparison Our Ripples of Impact and why we all need to share our personal stories The value of acknowledging social and racial injustices Related Content: Ione Butler Rebelling FOR Uplifting Stories Connect with Vonetta Wade: Achieving Your Purpose MUST - Mothers United to Save our Teens Vonetta Wade on LinkedIn Vonetta Wade on Instagram Vonetta Wade on Facebook Vonetta Wade on Twitter BOOK: Proceed Through the Uncomfortable: 52 Mindful Journal Reminders to Inspire You On Your Journey Liberate Your Soul & Join the Rebelution Thanks for tuning into this week’s episode of Rebel Souls with your host, Shelley Paxton, the podcast dedicated to helping leaders reject the status quo, liberate their soul, and become a lifelong rebel. My guest today is Vonetta Taylor. Vonetta is a mystic, spiritual guide, entrepreneur, and Emmy award winning designer. Initially excelling in math and physics, Vonetta went to Cornell University, majoring in engineering, but then switched to Cultural Anthropology, which spoke more to her heart. Post-graduate research of magic, myth and education, brought Vonetta to Africa, but it was the people in Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda, not the academic world, that burst open a feeling in Vonetta of what is means to be truly human. After a 15 year career as a creative director and designer, Vonetta was called to leading groups and guiding individuals into a deeper, spiritual path. She is the founder of a mystery school named “Crowned and Throned” and offers healing workshops, moon circles, retreats and year long courses in service of the earth and the Divine. What an amazing journey of self-realization, from being a self-proclaimed atheist at 16 years old, committing herself to only believe and trust her own personal experiences, to now integrating the universal truths of meditation, astrology, yoga, dance, shamanism and the wisdom of indigenous elders. Vonetta embodies the depth of the phrase “Thou and I are one”, which makes me feel the vibration of pure joy in her presence! But there's an Oreo cameo so we're all good. Jody and Alison talk about Scary Black Cherry bowel mishaps, youth groups, and read a great letter from Blume Head and NEW PATRON, Molly Patton!

Topics Now that the 2016 Olympic men’s diving and rugby are over in Rio, we can focus on other things . . . like talking about Brazil!  Outside of cultural revelations observed during our viewing of the Rio opening ceremonies (yes that really was a slave trade re-enactment), we also learn that meat and fruit are a big deal in Brazil! According to our guest, Brazil is known for its beautiful beaches, so you have to get in some beach time. Hang out at the beaches in Salvador, Bahia and take in all of the many beach vendors selling everything from sunglasses to fried cheese also called "queijo coalho". When the sun goes down, and you’re done with your cheese, take some time to hang out amongst the locals. You can do like Vonetta and check out a local strip club, to observe the polite exchange of services between the beautiful women and men, ask for Gabby (just kidding). Like any new place, plan your adventure accordingly, and if your cab driver says no to dropping you off someplace, don’t fight it! No matter how much you want to see favelas. Why you would want to see the hood, we don’t know, I mean if you’ve seen one hood you’ve seen them all. Travel tip for Brazil: Vonetta also advises that you take into account the requirements for entering the country and set aside plenty of time to get through that process. Take your own meds and bring enough currency to buy your fried cheese.
