Today's meditation explores the question: What is enough? This is one of the core questions that drove me to create this podcast. So many of us in the financial independence retire early community are trying to grow our wealth so we can reach some arbitrary number, assuming that once we get there, we will achieve freedom and everything will change. But the question is, what is enough? So often, when people reach their desired number, they think they need more or just a little more time, what's often called "one more year" syndrome.Today we explore this question of what is enough in a meditation, where we practice allowing each breath to be enough, just as it is.I hope you enjoy this meditation. Episode 53 | Future-Ready IT OfferingsThe Big Themes:ServiceNow's innovation: Wayne Sadin talks about ServiceNow, which Bob recently wrote about, as a first mover in the market, leading the way in creating intelligent solutions that facilitate interoperability between different applications and workflows. This innovation reflects a broader trend in the tech industry toward integrated platforms that can handle diverse business needs without forcing organizations to invest in multiple standalone tools.Interoperability focus: Vendors should prioritize creating systems that allow for seamless interoperability and integration across various platforms. Interoperability is not merely about compatibility; it encompasses the ability to facilitate data sharing and process integration among disparate systems.Multi-cloud strategies: Wayne notes the importance of multi-cloud strategies, suggesting that flexibility and the ability to connect different systems will be crucial for organizations looking to avoid vendor lock-in. In an era where no single cloud provider can meet every organization's needs, a multi-cloud approach allows businesses to select the best solutions tailored to their specific requirements. The Big Quote: “The answer for every vendor is, to facilitate interoperability, make it easy for me to do my job better. Yes, you could build a walled garden, like the cloud vendors all did . . . That's the resort of the person with the inferior product . . . I want the ability to interoperate. I want them to all think this is not a zero-sum game."

In this episode of The TRU Leader Podcast, Tracy and Michelle delves into the national crisis of burnout and mental health issues in the workplace, citing a 2022 US Surgeon General report and a Microsoft survey showing high levels of burnout among managers. The pandemic has shifted expectations around work-life balance, with workers seeking more support to avoid overwork. The discussion highlights the VUCA (volatile, uncertain, complex, ambiguous) environment's demands on staff and the need for empathetic leadership. Traditional leadership norms often involve overworking and sacrificing personal time, which can lead to burnout. Personal anecdotes illustrate the detrimental effects of such norms, emphasizing the need for new leadership practices that prioritize well-being. The podcast advocates for changing leadership norms to prevent burnout by fostering healthy work cultures and effective priority management. Leaders are encouraged to balance professional and personal lives, leveraging the tension between opposing forces like activity and rest. It stresses the importance of shifting limiting beliefs to more empowering ones and redefining success to include balance and fulfillment. Habit formation, supported by tools like fitness trackers and morning routines, is suggested to make these new norms sustainable. Tracy and Michelle invite listeners to join their FREE webinar “From Stress to Success, The Formula for Leaders to Excel Professionally and Personally” to help leaders adopt these new norms. How can you learn to stay calm and deal with a VUCA — volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous — world? Perspective is the number one tactic, and today's guest is a special operator and leader who has the developmental skills and methodologies that can assist anyone in dealing with a VUCA world. Mark Divine is a former Navy SEAL Commander, best-selling author, and leadership expert. After a 20-year career in the Navy SEALs, he was tasked with creating a leadership program for the SEALs, which later extended to corporate, sports, and academic settings. Mark Divine is the author of five best-selling books, hosts a top-rated podcast, Mark Divine's Unbeatable Mind, and has founded five successful companies. He believes in unlocking 20X performance through the right training and tools. From terrorist attacks and global wars to the COVID-19 pandemic and technological advances, the capacity for great violence to happen quickly is prevalent in today's VUCA world. The need to remain adaptable, flexible, and controlled under such stress is critical to survival. Mark and Bill both share experiences of trauma from their lives and the lessons they have learned as a result. Having the tools needed to navigate the trauma of life is what sets a leader apart in moments of crisis. However, teams are not always looking for a calm and composed leader. Acknowledging apparent chaos can be the best first step in building trust and respect. Everyone on a SEAL team is a leader, so egos get checked at the door. Each team member is prepared to step up when they are called on to lead. There is no hiding in an elite culture environment, there is only the expectation that you're going to bring your “A” game every single day. Those who learn the techniques to do so are earning the respect and trust of their team, controlling their mind and emotions, and preparing for whatever chaos the VUCA world might throw their way.
