The process of having your life changed by Jesus can be instantaneous. But it can also take a little while, too. For many Christians, it’s a mixture of both. And that’s true for today’s guest, Katie Hagstrom. After her parents got divorced when Katie was about 9 years old, she and her siblings were led to begin a personal relationship with Jesus through a conversation with her dad. That experience gave Katie peace during the trauma of her parents’ divorce. But a few years later, Katie realized that deep inside she was unhappy, mean, and unloving towards others – not exactly a Christlike attitude for a young Christian woman to have. So, the Lord began the gentle process of helping Katie understand that she could love others because He loved her so much. Another hurdle for Katie’s faith journey was the fact that she didn’t get to go on a mission trip in high school. She longed to go share the Gospel with people in other cultures, but finances never allowed for it to happen. Years later, in her twenties, Katie tried again to go on a mission trip… and discovered God knew her desire and loved her enough to make it happen. Katie’s going to share more about all of this on this episode. This is the second installment of our new series, “Changed Lives Change Lives.”  6:35 – The rocky years of going through her parents’ divorce 8:50 – Katie begins her relationship with Jesus 11:15 – Katie is criticized for her sarcastic nature and begins to realize that she didn’t love others or know for sure that God loved her 14:48 – The process of being changed by the fact that God knows and loves His children 17:38 – The backstory of Katie’s interest in missions work 19:30 - Why Katie was never able to go on a mission trip as a young woman 20:11 – The story of Katie getting to finally go on a mission trip and why it reminded her of how much Jesus knows and loves us 25:20 – The hard but good mission trip to Scotland and how Katie got to encourage and influence some young women there 28:07 – God knows our deepest desires and blesses us so that we can be a blessing to othersAfter you listen to this episode, go to our host website: www.rfwma.org and find out how World Missions Alliance can help you connect to your greater purpose. If you are interested in becoming a sponsor of the Limitless Spirit Podcast, click below Support the show (https://rfwma.org/give) Email us your questions and comments at podcast@rfwma.org WMA is 501(c)(3), donations are tax deductibleSupport the show (https://rfwma.org/give)Support the show (https://rfwma.org/give)Support the show (https://rfwma.org/give)

Managing the financial aspect of the business always brings in headaches, especially among those who are not familiar with financial terms and processes. Usually, what most tradies and founders do is just leave these issues for accountants and bookkeepers to handle, avoiding it altogether. However, as a responsible business owner, there is a need to know and somehow grasp what is going on in the financial aspect of your business. This is easier said than done especially because of communication barriers between the two parties.  In today's podcast, we will be uncovering Katie Marshall's book, Profit First for Tradies. Katie is a certified profit first coach who helps tradies, in particular, manage their finances and how to coordinate with their accountants and bookkeepers effectively while following the profit-first framework. In this podcast, we will also discuss the importance of financial literacy across all ages and professions.  If you want to know more about this framework and its direct and indirect effects to your business, tune in to this episode now! [05:24] Why Katie wrote the Profit First for Tradies book [07:07] Importance of financial literacy [09:50] It gets worse before it get better [12:27] The perspective of profit first [15:00] The framework raises the red flags [16:29] Profit first reports based on balance sheets and reports [18:56] Identify and separate the accounts [20:08] Allocate an appointment with yourself [23:03] Break down a vision into actionable steps [26:05] Indirect positive effects of the profit first framework [27:31] The shift that makes a client interested in checking their finances [30:21] Tradies, accountants, and profit first [31:37] Katie's tips for tradies [35:17] About the Guest: Katie Crismale-Marshall started out as a financial planner before she encountered the profit first framework. She, now, is a certified profit first coach and is the newly acclaimed author of Profit First for Tradies. My guest today is Katie DePaola - an entrepreneur, author and the founder of Inner Glow Circle, an accredited training and certification company for women coaches, leaders and entrepreneurs where she’s taught thousands of women how to find their purpose, live it and get paid. And I’m so excited to have Katie on the show this week because I really resonate with her company’s core values. Work for yourself, not by yourself. Create the thing you wish existed. Say the thing no one else is willing to say. Change lives that change other lives. Find your GLOW (your greatest level of want). And this isn’t just marketing-talk. Inner Glow Circle truly lives up to its values. Katie and I did this interview back in February of 2020, before COVID-19, before everyone in the online space was talking about anti-racism and allyship - and as I was putting together the show notes for this episode I was thinking “I wish this conversation would have happened later because I bet she has a powerful perspective on what’s happening right now...” and I was right. You can check out Inner Glow Circle’s commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion in the coaching space here and a workshop led by one of their graduates, VP Wright on Activism, Allyship and Antiracism in Coaching at http://innerglowcircle.com/activism/ One thing I admire about Katie is that she’s turned her greatest challenges into her greatest opportunities - and says her business is what saved her life. Katie and I talk about: Her journey to living her purpose and the creation of Inner Glow Circle The truth about what it takes to be an entrepreneur Why Katie wanted to scale her business so quickly The sneaky ways perfectionism holds us back Why you really can live your passion (and make money doing it) Her three keys to happiness Her best advice for you if you’re struggling to grow your business. The one belief Katie had to change about herself to get where she is today. My favorite quotes from Katie: “Create the thing that you wish existed in the world.” “Serve a person who is ultimately like you - and that's who you create for.” “There are people who want to help people, but also want to live really good lives. You don't have to pick, you get to have both.” “We are so hard on ourselves, but at the same time, we underestimate what we can do when we get the right support and resources.” Resources mentioned in this episode: http://innerglowcircle.com/activism/ http://innerglowcircle.com/purpose/ At Least You Look Good Book Bio: Katie DePaola is an entrepreneur, author and the founder of Inner Glow Circle, an accredited training and certification company for women coaches, leaders and entrepreneurs. Right after starting IGC, Katie lost her brother to an accidental overdose. Also Lyme Disease survivor, she built her business from her bathtub, growing the company from self-funded startup to million-dollar business. Through certification programs, memberships and online courses, Katie has taught thousands of women how to find their purpose, live it and get paid. She has a B.S. in Human and Organizational Development from Vanderbilt University and is an ICF Credentialed PCC Coach. She has been featured in TIME Magazine, The Huffington Post, Elite Daily and more. In her first book, At Least You Look Good (2020), Katie shares her vulnerable (and often funny) reflections on how to deal with the hardest parts of life — and her best advice for how to “glow through what you go through.” Connect with Katie: Inner Glow Circle Website Instagram: @innerglowcircle | @itskatiedepaola Facebook: facebook.com/katiedepaola  |  facebook.com/innerglowcircle

Good People, Today I’m sharing with you a revamped episode from the very first season of The Truth Prescription: my conversation with my great friend Katie Duke, who is now the host of her own podcast Bad Decisions. Katie and I met back in 2016, and I interviewed her for this podcast in September 2017. We had a lot of fun, but we also tackled some really heavy topics. Katie’s professional truth stems from her experience working as an ER nurse, featured on NY MED on ABC. We talked about the excitement, drama, embarrassment, and fear from being on this reality TV show, but also about how she got fired – and the truth behind it all. She talks about how getting fired was an incredibly low point in her life, but because she chose to take the high road and eat a slice of humble pie, her character was ultimately strengthened. She also shares a personal truth around finding herself through an abusive mentality and physically abusive relationship, what she’s learned about herself since then, and now how she’s inspiring women around the world via social media. I hope you enjoy this throwback. So close your eyes and open your ears, and let’s get into it. Some Questions I Ask: What is your personal and/or professional truth that enabled you to move forward and become successful? (14:07)What is a social media influencer? (55:03)What are you trying to communicate with the pictures and videos you post on IGTV? (59:18)In This Episode You Will Learn: Why Katie focuses on empowering women through social media. (9:12)Katie’s professional truth: taking the high road at your lowest point is a demonstration of your strength. (15:20)Katie’s personal truth: the only person you can change is yourself. Green Connections Radio - Women Who Innovate With Purpose, & Career Issues, Including in Energy, Sustainability, Responsibil

“Your biggest challenge is your biggest opportunity. Get people into the system so they can change the culture and the industry to clean energy” Katie Mehnert on Green Connections Radio At the 2020 World Economic Forum where global leaders across industry in Davos, Switzerland every January, climate change took “center stage,” as The New York Times headline put it. A key topic of debate was the conundrum of providing clean energy to all and it is abundantly clear the key is much more rapid innovation to transition to a clean energy economy. But how? Listen to Katie Mehnert, who spent 20 years in the oil and gas sector and is a passionate devotee to it, in this surprisingly candid interview on Green Connections Radio podcast with Joan Michelson. Katie passionately lays out the urgent need for the sector to innovate and why bringing more women into the industry is key. Katie left a job in Big Oil that she loved to start Pink Petro to get more women into energy industry leadership. You'll hear: Why Katie says women are key to cleaning up the industry. What companies need to do to attract and retain more women. How safety and diversity go hand in hand in her view and are the key to “win the war for talent.” How investors’ focus on environment, social and governance (ESG) criteria is driving energy sector change. Great career advice, especially for women in a male-dominated field. “Just start talking to people and find out what they care about and take note…Just stay curious, ask loads of questions and build those relationships and try to help them. Know their values and accept help when you need it.” Katie Mehnert on Green Connections Radio You'll want to check out these interviews too: Adrienne Little, Malta, formerly of Google X, on creating energy from salt. “The best possible way to start my career was not getting what I wanted. Failure teaches you a lot, and it helped me figure out a path to success that worked for me.” —Katie Burke Katie Burke is the Chief People Officer at HubSpot, a marketing software company in Boston that employs more than 2,300 people worldwide. And of those 2,300, Katie was the company’s first female to land a spot in the c-suite. (Today, 45 percent of the company’s vice presidents are women.) In this super inspiring conversation, Katie shares why she’s so passionate about empowering women in the workplace, and candidly opens up about her own massive career failures — including how bombing the LSATs turned out to be the best thing that could’ve happened to her. She offers up interviewing advice, explains why prospective employees should add “we” to their vocabularies, and shares the one word she’s trying to add to her own life. Katie is the oldest of six kids, and she has a fascinating family story. Her dad, Brian Burke, is extremely well-known in the hockey world, and her brother, Brendan, was a hockey player at Miami Ohio when he famously came out as gay to his teammates — and the world. Brendan was later killed in a tragic car accident, and Katie gladly shared stories of his incredible legacy with me. Of course, Katie is also a runner. She’s a four-time marathoner and 20+-time half-marathoner, and she's currently training for the Popular Brooklyn Half Marathon in May. Apologies for the slightly off audio on this one! Katie Smithson picks her battles. Even well-meaning colleagues occasionally make insulting or offensive comments, and a professional woman has to decide what she can brush off and what she simply cannot accept. Though the lines can be blurry, nine years in the industry have taught Katie how to establish boundaries and present herself as a professional. Katie grew up in Franklin, Tennessee, and went to school at Tennessee Technological University. Discouraged by the boys’ club that was electrical engineering, she changed her plans and pursued a degree in marketing. Her first foray into sales and customer service was at a Sprint/Nextel store back in Franklin, where she saw the first MLS searches on a Blackberry. After a move to Knoxville, Katie worked in marketing for a local mortgage company that happened to use CRS Data for tax purposes. Tired of spending her days in a cubicle, she noticed an opening for a trainer at CRS. Katie won them over and secured her first job in real estate. After four years working with agents, realtors and MLS execs to implement the use of CRS products, Katie had a conversation with Greg in a lobby bar at CMLS Boston, and the rest is history. She has worked at W+R Studios for five years, serving as Director of MLS Services since 2016.  Today she shares the details of her activism through the Georgia Women’s Policy Institute, the challenges for women in the real estate industry, and her advice around establishing professional boundaries.  What’s Discussed:  Why Katie gave up on electrical engineering to pursue a marketing degree  Katie’s early sales and customer service experience at Sprint/Nextel How Katie got involved with the real estate industry Katie’s role as Director of MLS Services at W+R Studios The shift from training to sales Katie’s work with the Georgia Women’s Policy Institute - Issues affecting women, children - Get in front of legislators  The challenges for women in the real estate industry How Katie establishes boundaries as a professional woman The complications of alcohol as part of industry culture How Katie’s reputation in the industry has improved her experience with sexism Katie’s advice for women coming up in the industry - Keep your head on straight - Maintain professionalism  - Have a buddy The challenge of dressing appropriately for women in a business environment Katie’s recommendations around resources for sales executives Resources: CRS Data Arianna Huffington on Repeating Outfits ‘The Rock’ Test for Sexual Harassment  Inc. How long does it take for effects of electromagnetic radiation to show up in our lives? How can we reduce our exposure to electromagnetic radiation Why Katie suggests that children have no screen time exposure until they are able to read and write How electromagnetic exposure is related to behavioural problems in children The concept of an electronic fast Why Katie suggests that it's actually better for children to have passive screen time (i.e. watching TV)  than it is for them to actively engage with technology (i.e. video games, iPods, cell phones, etc.) What are some practical ways to reduce your exposure to electromagnetic radiation during pregnancy Why Katie suggests that we turn off the Wifi in our homes for 12 hours per day Why it's so important to be asking questions about our exposure to radiation Connect with Katie Singer: You can connect with Katie on any of her 3 websites: Katie Singer, Garden of Fertility, and Electronic Silent Spring. Katie Kozlowski is a spiritual teacher, self realization coach and healer. Katie’s is a remarkable story about how so many of us start out so happy and free, how it easy it is to get lost, and the consequences of the unconscious cruelty we inflict on ourselves and others when we’re not in touch with who we really are. A few key things I took from the conversation with Katie include: 1. You Are Not Your Body – She talks about the difference between your soul and your body, and how her accident (which she describes) jolted her soul and her body back together. It’s a powerful observation 2. Happy Can Look Messy – Listen for how she describes herself as a kid. As we get older, we start putting all sorts of conditions on what it takes to be happy. But happy can be simple, and even messy. 3. The Irony of “Playful Transformation” (because it brings you back to the REAL you) – Listen for WHY Katie jokes that she “peaked” in Grade 3. She already knew who she was. She just needed to find her again, or “transform” back to who she already used to be (and still was). The same is true for most of us. ©2017 Kevin Bulmer Enterprises

For many in the post-production industry, traveling to conventions & events is just part of the business. Whether it's NAB in Las Vegas, Editor's Retreat, or any of the multitude of educational conferences worldwide, those conventions can be treated like paid vacations which means leaving your healthy habits at home. And if this is your choice, fantastic! More power to you. Enjoy yourself and live life. But for some people, attending large conventions like NAB can be difficult because they prefer to maintain their healthy habits so they have plenty of energy and focus to get the most out of their experience and education. But between the meet-ups, the parties, and the drinking, it can be nearly impossible to even stand upright by the final day. For those of you looking for helpful tactics and strategies to make your next convention or event a healthier one, I have an in-depth discussion with Katie Hinsen who created the #HealthyNABChallenge, taking it upon herself to make her visit to NAB this year as healthy and productive as possible.  Download your FREE bonus document '10 Tips to Make Your Next Conference a Healthy One' which includes Katie's review of 37 meal replacement bars!
