A great, broadly applicable listener question today. In the past couple of decades, drivers have not only experienced increases in head size, but also in shaft length. In today's episode, Mark and Lou ask whether many amateurs might not be better off the tee with a shorter driver shaft. What are the trade-offs in shaft lengths? Is it possible that a shorter shaft might produce tighter dispersion and greater distance? And how should a typical golfer go about testing this?If you have a question you want covered on the pod, please submit here: https://www.hackitoutgolf.com/contact/Listeners can also leave us a voicemail! https://www.hackitoutgolf.com/voicemail/Where to find us:Mark Crossfield's weekly newsletter: https://www.crossfieldgolf.com/subscribeMark Crossfield on Twitter: https://twitter.com/4golfonlineMark Crossfield on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/user/4golfonlineLou Stagner's weekly newsletter: https://newsletter.loustagnergolf.com/subscribeLou Stagner on Twitter: https://twitter.com/LouStagnerGreg Chalmers on Twitter: https://twitter.com/GregChalmersPGAThe Hack It Out Golf Podcast on Twitter: https://twitter.com/HackItOutGolfSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

John Hudson and I take on a classic Blaxploitation film! TRUCK TURNER (1974) stars the great Isaac Hayes as the titular character, a modern-day bounty hunter in Los Angeles. Along with his partner he tracks down people for bail bondsmen which is a far more dangerous job than you might expect. Sadly, this is the only lead role Hayes was ever afforded and it was offered to him so the producers could also get him to provide the film's score. Luckily for fans, he handles both creative opportunities well. In fact, I find the music he supplies for this film to be superior to his Oscar winning SHAFT score. Check it out and let us know what you think. There has been an ongoing conversation about the best Blaxploitation films for decades but nearly every fan will put this film in their top five. It plays like a western set in the 1970's with bad guys getting their comeuppance in suitable, violent ways. The story is fast paced and exciting with plenty of colorful characters peppering the trail Truck follows while dealing with scumbags. The film was originally written for a very different cast in mind but, once the change was made, the collaborative spirit of the production made for a satisfying film. Besides Hayes as Mack ‘Truck' Turner the cast is stacked with excellent character actors such as Scatman Crothers, Charles Cyphers, Dick Miller, Sam Lewis and a brilliant villain role for the great Yaphet Kotto. Plus, if you ever wondered what it would be like to see Lt. Uhura from Star Trek whip a stable of prostitutes into line, this is your chance. Whew! If you have any comments about this movie or any other film we've covered on the show thebloodypit@gmail.com is the place to send them. Thank you for listening and we'll be back soon.

Small Cap Breaking News You Can't Miss! Here's a quick rundown of the latest updates from standout small-cap companies making big moves today:Brixton Metals Corporation (TSX-V: BBB) (OTCQX: BBBXF)Brixton Metals drilled 13.0 metres grading 594 g/t silver — including a 0.5m interval at 7,900 g/t — at the Shaft 6-Southeast target of its Langis Silver Project in Cobalt, Ontario. This zone has limited historic workings, pointing to strong potential for a new high-grade silver discovery beyond the known mineralized system. Management plans to add a second drill in mid-May as part of a 60,000-metre campaign aimed at a maiden resource estimate.Cheelcare Incorporated (TSX-V: CHER) (OTC: CHCRF)Cheelcare posted its second consecutive month of record Companion power-assist bookings for April 2026, up 147% year-over-year and 38.5% compared to March, while RFQ activity jumped approximately 64% month-over-month. U.S. Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement eligibility, secured in January 2026, has expanded insurance-funded access to the product. Management views the accelerating numbers as early signs of a new growth curve for the Companion platform.Galiano Gold Incorporated (TSX: GAU) (NYSE American: GAU)Galiano Gold's Abore Program at the Asanko Gold Mine in Ghana returned highlights including 53m at 3.9 g/t gold and 32m at 4.7 g/t gold, extending mineralization approximately 95m below the current underground Mineral Resource. A new high-grade zone has been identified beneath the Main Pit and remains open along strike and at depth. With 14,500 of a planned 30,000-metre program complete, additional assay results are expected in Q2 2026.Bottom Line: Exceptional silver drill grades in Ontario's historic Cobalt camp, back-to-back record bookings for a Canadian mobility tech company, and expanding gold mineralization in Ghana defined today's most compelling small-cap stories.Stay ahead of the market — follow AGORACOM for more breaking small-cap news and insights. And don't forget to check out our podcast for deeper dives: https://open.spotify.com/show/74mVPkfalaWXFYY65A2XLM
Brixton Metals CEO Gary Thompson joined Steve Darling from Proactive to announce the fourth batch of drill results from the company's ongoing exploration campaign at the Langis Silver Project in the historic Cobalt mining camp. The 2026 drill program is focused on both infill and expansion drilling targeting established high-grade silver zones. To date, Brixton has completed 13,845 metres across 68 drill holes during the current campaign. Among the highlights, drill hole LM-26-350 intersected 13.0 metres grading 594 grams per tonne silver within the Shaft 6-Southeast target area. Thompson noted that the S6-SE zone has seen only limited historical mine development and drilling, underscoring the potential for additional high-grade silver discoveries. The company believes the latest results confirm that significant new mineralization remains to be discovered at Langis and further reinforce the project's position as a unique primary silver asset. Brixton plans to add a second drill rig around mid-May as it works toward a minimum 60,000-metre drilling target for 2026 in support of a maiden resource estimate. Thompson also provided an update on the company's Atlin Goldfields Project in northwestern British Columbia, where drilling has now commenced. Under an earn-in option agreement, Eldorado Gold Corporation has the right to earn up to 100% ownership of the project. The current Atlin drill campaign is expected to include approximately six to ten holes totaling between 2,500 and 3,000 metres. Thompson also shared with Proactive at the company's flagship project, Thorn, Brixton continues to advance what is described as a large-scale copper-gold porphyry district covering roughly 2,900 square kilometres in northwest British Columbia. Brixton Metals has now identified multiple copper-gold porphyry systems at the project and continues to make new discoveries, including the recently identified Catalyst target. #proactiveinvestors #brixtonmetalscorp #tsxv #bbb #otcqx #bbbxf #mining #Silver #Gold #Mining #Exploration #OntarioMining #BritishColumbiaMining #Drilling #ResourceInvesting #langisproject #hogheaven #atlin

John Singleton was twenty-three when he wrote Boyz N the Hood and twenty-four when it made him the first Black filmmaker and youngest person ever nominated for the Academy Award for Best Director. Released in 1991, the film drew from Singleton's own upbringing in South Central Los Angeles to deliver an unflinching portrait of Black life there, launched the careers of Ice Cube, Morris Chestnut, and Nia Long, and established Singleton as one of the most important voices in American cinema. Over the next three decades he directed Poetic Justice, Higher Learning, Shaft, and Four Brothers, and served as a producer on Hustle & Flow and the FX series Snowfall, which was still in production when he died of a stroke in 2019 at age fifty-one.The Life of Singleton: From Boyz N the Hood to Snowfall by journalist Thomas Golianopoulos draws on nearly 400 original interviews to document Singleton's full arc — his years as a driven film student at USC, his rapid ascent in Hollywood, his complicated personal life, and his final years. Published by Andscape Books in 2025, the biography traces how Singleton's commitment to putting authentic Black stories on screen shaped an industry and inspired generations of filmmakers. Welcome to the inaugural episode of PLAY MORRICONE FOR ME on CINEMATIC SOUND RADIO. You have no idea how thrilled I am to welcome Jack Criddle and his terrific program into the CINEMATIC SOUND RADIO family. I've been an admirer of Jack's show for quite some time; it reminds me a lot of Ley Bricknell's FILMIC program... eclectic, unique, exceptional, and downright entertaining. Similar to Ley, he plays stuff on this show I never would have thought to play. So, strap yourself in because once you hear the words "Play Morricone For Me," you are in for a ride. Please give a warm CINEMATIC SOUND RADIO welcome to Jack in the comments below. - Erik Woods —— SHOW NOTES Producer & host Jack Criddle started broadcasting PLAY MORRICONE FOR ME—a film music radio show with an inclination towards cult and genre scores—in 2017, on the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts' station. The program switched to a prerecorded format in 2020, has highlighted everything from spaghetti westerns to cannibal movies to Disney songs, and has featured such guests as John Sayles, Fabio Frizzi, Ben Model and the B-52's Pat Irwin. To celebrate the beginning of PMFM's new home on Cinematic Sound Radio, Jack turns his attention to debut film scoring gigs by some of the world's great composers. These range from the relatively obscure, like Morricone's IL FEDERALE, John Barry's NEVER LET GO, and Quincy Jones's THE BOY IN THE TREE, to the well-known and celebrated, like CITIZEN KANE, CAPTAIN BLOOD, DEEP RED, SHAFT and more. Golf shafts bend, twist, droop, and deflect during the golf swing and most golfers have NO idea how much this impacts their ball flight. In this podcast, Mike Granato & Shaun Webb from Athletic Motion Golf sit down with Michael “Nipper” Nef, President and CEO of GEARS Golf, the most advanced golf swing motion capture system in the world. GEARS has captured millions of golf swings, including hundreds of thousands from PGA Tour players, giving researchers unprecedented insight into how the body and golf club actually move during a swing. We break down the science of shaft droop, torque, and deflection, why most golfers misunderstand how shafts behave, and how GEARS technology measures both body motion and club data simultaneously... something no other system can do with the same accuracy.Michael explains how GEARS measures:- Shaft bending, twisting, and drooping- Clubhead delivery and face angle- Body joint motion during the swing- Dynamic lie angle and how it affects shot shapeWe also dive deep into the GEARS Curve (sometimes called the Nipper Curve) — a concept showing why every club in your bag should be treated as a completely different tool during club fitting. If you've ever wondered:- Why long irons tend to go right- Why wedges sometimes pull left- Why traditional club fitting can miss critical variables- How PGA Tour players dial in equipment…this conversation will completely change how you think about the golf swing.Whether you're a golfer, coach, club fitter, or golf tech enthusiast, this episode explains the hidden physics behind the golf swing and how modern motion capture technology is revolutionizing instruction and equipment fitting.

If you've ever wondered how AI golf coaching actually works, this episode of the Athletic Motion Golf podcast with Mike Granato & Shaun Webb breaks it down in detail. We sit down with the creator of the Swing Coach app, the AI-powered golf swing analysis tool that's changing how golfers train using just an iPhone. We cover motion capture without markers, 120fps swing analysis, real-time voice feedback, face-on vs down-the-line data, shaft lean measurement, and the future of AI golf instruction. This is real golf swing data powered by custom-built AI models trained specifically for golf movement. We discuss how the Swing Coach app analyzes 120 frames per second, how it adapts to body type and limb length, and why most Android phones can't currently support the processing power required for this level of real-time golf swing feedback. If you care about:- Golf swing analysis- AI in sports training- Shaft lean & shallowing the club- Face-on vs down-the-line swing mechanics- Optimizing your golf practice sessionsWe also talk about:- Why great players move similarly- The “good player funnel”- Custom model swings coming soon- AI coaching trained on real instruction- Second-screen features for coaches- The Android hardware challenge- What's next for Swing Coach in 2026! This might be the most important conversation we've had about the future of golf instruction.

In this unforgettable episode of Interviews with Innocence, Marla sits down with Laurie and Eric Kirkland to share a story that feels almost cinematic in its intensity — and yet, every word is true. Forty years ago, while camping in the Calico Mountains, Laurie and Eric's beloved dog Jesse vanished without a trace. What followed was a week of heartbreak, relentless searching, radio ads, flyers, and a 500 dollar reward. And then… a psychic entered the story. What she revealed would guide them to a shocking discovery — including a mysterious collapsed mine shaft, a "big green rock," and a desperate race against time. Seven days after disappearing in open desert surrounded by coyotes, Jesse was found alive. In this episode, we explore: ✨ The emotional toll of losing a beloved animal ✨ Why they decided to call a dog psychic ✨ The details she described that proved eerily accurate ✨ The moment she screamed, "He's out!" ✨ The meaning of intuition and unseen guidance ✨ How this experience shifted their view of psychic ability ✨ Eric's later experience with medium John Edward ✨ Signs from loved ones in spirit This conversation is about devotion, persistence, and the mysterious ways hope sometimes answers back. Sometimes faith looks like searching one more canyon.

A visual reference to aide adjustments to blade depth. Timestamps 00:45 Low technology solutions for rowing too deep. The tape goes around the oar shaft so that when the oar is under the water at the correct depth and the handle is at the correct height for you to old. Mark exactly where the shaft is level with the water surface. You can do this where the oar shaft is wet if you do this carefully. Measure the spot, return the oars to land and transfer that measurement to all the other oars and put white tape on them too. While rowing you can look sideways at your oar to see if the white tape is going under the water and where in the stroke it goes too deep (and you can no longer see the tape). 03.30 Causes of rowing too deep Usually it's caused by the athlete holding the handle too high. Modern oar designs naturally sit at the correct depth. If you row 'over the barrel' the path of the handle is too high mid-stroke (and usually too low at the finish so your oar spoon washes out). The water is flat and so the path of the handle in the power phase should also be flat. At the catch if you take the catch by lifting your shoulders it can also cause the oar to go too deep. Tension in the hand grip also can cause the oar to go too deep. In sweep this is often the inside hand holding on too tightly. 05:55 Drills to help you correct blade depth - Backing down into the catch. Push the oars from the finish backing down and then leave the oar in the water and take the stroke. Go backwards and forwards gradually lengthening from half slide to full slide. This helps you to work out the correct handle height. - Row in circles. One person row in sweep and look out at your oar as you row so you can see the depth. In sculling just row with one oar and get a friend to hold the boat steady. - Half blade depth rowing. Row with only half the oar under the water - feel the depth by controlling the handle precisely with very small movements. - The amount of power you put on can affect blade depth. So try alternating light and firm pressure strokes to help you work out depth.

It's been a week of excellent cup victories for Manchester City. To celebrate, David Mooney is joined by Dom Farrell from Sporting News and City fan Chris Higginbottom. They discuss the 10-1 win over Exeter and then the 2-0 success in the first leg of the League Cup semifinal at Newcastle. It was the first time since 1987 that City scored double-figures in a game and, strangely, the scoreline matched the date (for only the 18th time in City's history)... but it was a remarkable bit of history-making from Pep Guardiola's side. At the same time, City were also on the receiving end of a VAR controversy, as the video assistant took five-and-a-half minutes to disallow what seems to be a perfectly reasonable goal at St James's Park. With trips to Manchester United and Bodø/Glimt to come, we hear from Jay Mottershead from The Stretford Paddock and Norwegian journalist covering Glimt, Stian Høgland to get some idea of what City can expect this week.Plus, as young players like Max Alleyne and Ryan McAidoo impress, we discuss what options Guardiola has for the upcoming games and how necessary it is for the club to move again in the transfer market this month, as Antoine Semenyo settles in very nicely.==========To get more podcasts or to listen without the ads, join our Patreon. As the mayor and police chief of Providence, Rhode Island take a victory lap over a double murder suspect's suicide, the real hero who broke the story is getting shafted. A Fulton County election board member who voted three times against certifying the 2020 election explains why - as more evidence pours forward about election results that should not have been certified. A majority of people polled think children should be banned from social media.

The effects of government shutdowns are felt particularly deeply in tribal communities across the United States. That's because the federal government has a constitutional obligation to fund services in Indian Country. But when the government closes, tribal nations are left to pick up the tab. Marketplace's Savannah Peters joins Kimberly to explain how tribal communities get caught up in the federal government's dysfunctional budget process and why tribal leaders argue this needs to change. Here's everything we talked about today:"How the government shutdown is playing out in Indian Country" from Marketplace "Tribal governments fend off the worst of the impacts of the shutdown" from High Country News "The shutdown isn't big for Utah's tribes yet. If it drags on, that's the problem" from KUER "In Indian Country, federal budget dysfunction takes a toll" from MarketplaceWe love hearing from you.
