This week in Airplane News: The AirCar has been issued an Airworthiness Certificate, Enstrom Helicopters goes bankrupt, Stowaway survives an 11-hour flight and the final update on FlyZolo. The AirCar has been issued a certificate of airworthiness by the Slovak Transport Authority. This certification included more than 70 hours of flight testing and 200 take-offs and landings. Štefan Klein je pilot a slovenský vynálezca, ktorý stojí za slovenským lietajúcim autom, AirCar. Navštívili sme ho priamo na letisku v Nitre, kde nám prototyp číslo 1 ukázal naživo. V rozhovore nám prezradil, kedy sa dostane lietajúce auto na trh, pre koho je určené alebo aj aká bude cena. Prototyp číslo 1 je momentálne vo fáze testovania, má za sebou už 200 štartov a 46 nalietaných hodín. „Pre mňa bol tento projekt aj také testovanie, že na akej úrovni máme absolventov. Či sme schopní urobiť aj zložitú vec alebo sme skutočne len odkázaní na licenčné výroby. Naplnilo ma to optimizmom,“ hovorí Klein. Aj keď lietajúce auto ešte nie je na trhu, už má svojich záujemcov. „Je to meniace sa vozidlo, môžete ísť z auta do lietala a aj opačne. Môžete ho mať doma v garáži,“ opisuje rozdiel medzi menším lietadlom a lietajúcim autom. Zmena z lietadla na auto trvá dve a pol minúty stlačením jedného gombíka. Štefan Klein opisuje výhodu lietajúceho auta oproti bežným autám v tom, že dnešné motory áut majú bežne okolo 200 koní, ale pri limitoch, ktoré máme na cestách, ten výkon nevyužijeme. Silný benefit lietajúcich áut pripisuje tomu, že vo vzduchu výkon motora môžete využiť naplno. „Keď ten motor má 200 koní, tak tomu zodpovedá vysoká preletová rýchlosť.“
