In this episode of “How Do You Say That?!” sponsored by britishvoiceover.co.uk, Katie Flamman joins Sam and Mark to talk about the intricacies of storytelling inside and outside the corporate world, and we showcase the amazing project from Brad Shaw as he produces Lewis Carroll's "Alice Through The Looking Glass" with no less than 175 different voice actors. Our VO question this week is all about the tricks of making a corporate script become a proper story, but without the Once Upon a Time element!Get involved! Have you got a Wildcard suggestion that we should try? Send it to us via Mark or Sam's social media or email it directly to podcast@britishvoiceover.co.ukScript 1As companies strive to rely less on fossil raw materials, Carlton offers certification to track the use of alternative feedstock throughout the value chain to final products.Within the supply chain, companies have three options to manage certified alternative feedstock. One: Physical segregation ensures that certified alternative feedstock and fossil raw materials are kept separate throughout the entire supply chain. Two: During controlled blending, certified alternative feedstock and fossil raw materials are mixed. At all times, the physical content of certified alternative feedstock is known and monitored.Script 2Number two: you pulled Snowdrop away by the tail just as I had put down the saucer of milk before her! What, you were thirsty, were you? How do you know she wasn't thirsty too? Now for number three: you unwound every bit of the worsted while I wasn't looking!‘That's three faults, Kitty, and you've not been punished for any of them yet. You know I'm saving up all your punishments for Wednesday week—Suppose they had saved up all my punishments!' she went on, talking more to herself than the kitten. ‘What would they do at the end of a year? I should be sent to prison, I suppose, when the day came. **Listen to all of our podcasts here - you can also watch on YouTube, or say "Alexa, Play How Do You Say That?!"About our guest: Katie Flamman is a storyteller. Simon Bubb's whimsical narration sets the stage for Lewis Carroll's classic tales of Wonderland. Host Jo Reed and AudioFile's Kendra Winchester discuss the fun of listening to this collection, part of this summer's Audiobook SYNC program and available free to teen listeners in July. In addition to the more familiar ALICE IN WONDERLAND and ALICE THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS, the collection includes short stories centered on mathematical problems. Bubb lends a range of vocal characterizations to the many eccentric characters, and he deftly captures the absurd humor in Carroll's style. On this episode of Finding Your Bliss, Judy Librach is joined by one of Canada's most acclaimed and sought-after leading ladies. Cynthia Dale is a true and veritable 'triple sensation', garnering rave reviews as an award-winning actor, singer, and dancer onstage and on screen. Cynthia began working in television as a young child, performing with Tommy Hunter and Wayne and Shuster and in many CBC variety specials. At the age of eight, she played the role of the young Emily Carr in a musical special about the life of the Canadian painter. Her film and television credits include eight fabulous seasons as Olivia Novak on the highly popular "Street Legal". Other credits include "Moonstruck", "The Boy in Blue", "Heavenly Bodies", just to name a few. As well, Cynthia was a judge for two seasons on "Triple Sensations". She also starred in and co-produced for CBC, the musical film "Christmas Dreams". She spent 12 seasons with the Stratford Festival; and her credits are so impressive. Some of her credits include: Charlotte Malcolm in "A Little Night Music", Fosca in "Passion", Red Queen in "Alice Through The Looking Glass", Nellie Forbush in "South Pacific", Maggie in "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof", Sarah Brown in "Guys and Dolls", one of her all time favourites

Our exploration of the Disney films of Tim Burton continues on our Summer of Sadness. In this episode, we see what happens when Timmy B takes a back-seat producer role in the sequel to our inaugural entry, ALICE THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS. For better or for worse, without Burton's direct involvement Wonderland (or Underland, or whatever) has been turned down but about 30%, but that doesn't mean there's any shortage of weirdness to talk about with this franchise - from Johnny Depp's accent and affectation choices to Sasha Baron Cohen's sexual energy (or the lack thereof) to altogether too much time spent on the framing device (again).

You have to go a long way to find someone who doesn't like Kermit, Miss Piggy, Fozzie and the gang - or Alice of Wonderland fame, for that matter. With this in mind, it's a great pleasure to welcome James Bobin into the Soundtracking family. Not only has James directed two Muppet movies and steered Alice on a recent outing through the Looking Glass, he's played a very significant hand in a couple more pop-cultural institutions too. For having helped Sasha Baron Cohen create Ali G, Borat and Bruno, he then teamed up with Jemaine Clement and Bret McKenzie to bring the wonderful musical comedy Flight Of The Conchords to our screens. Indeed, Bret subsequently lent his expertise to both of James' Muppet movies. We'll be playing plenty of tunes from these films throughout the course of the conversation, as well as some classic Conchords. We also have the joys of hearing excerpts of Danny Elfman’s majestic score for Alice Through The Looking Glass - and a Strauss polka that was all the rage in the 1870s.

Welcome to this week's Failed Critics Podcast where hosts Steve Norman and Owen Hughes were joined by both Callum Petch and Andrew Brooker to review three new releases! Book-ending Callum's film-reviewing life in education with trips to Wonderland, he reveals that Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland is the worst blockbuster of the 2010's - and why Alice Through The Looking Glass is no better. We also review Warcraft: The Beginning, confusing Steve no end as he can't tell the difference between it and Warhammer (direct your outrage to @FailedSteve). Finally, we collectively agree that Shane Black's noir-comedy The Nice Guys is nice, guys. Before all of that in What We've Been Watching: Owen puts on his shades and sees They Live for the first time (in years); Brooker peels himself away from the PCC in London after a big-screen showing of True Romance; Callum completes his own Tarantino collection with Inglorious Basterds; and Steve stops watching football documentaries for two minutes to take in Will... Alice Through The Looking Glass is out this weekend, but seeing as Tim Burton's first film was pretty rubbish, we don't really care. Still, Tara wanted Ti to watch a version of Lewis Carroll's classic story, but instead of selecting the 1999 fun version with Whoopi Goldberg and Martin Short (LIKE SHE PROMISED!), she changed her mind and choose Jan Svankmajer's Czech surrealistic version - Neco Z Alenky - aka Alice (1998).  How will Ti cope with the this down-right terrifying version of the story? There definitely aren't songs about learning from the flowers in this film...  Listen in and, if you like what we do, please leave us a review on iTunes.  If you have comments or suggestions, please feel free to email us at cinemablindspot@gmail.com  Find us on Facebook and on Twitter at @CinemaBlindspot or individually on Twitter at @midnightmovies and @timonsingh Cinema Blindspot is edited and produced by Peter Walsh.

Matthew Sweet looks at film music inspired by Lewis Carroll's Alice, in the week of the release of the new Disney film, "Alice Through The Looking Glass". Matthew looks at music for some of the many films based on the Alice books and also films that are more indirectly inspired by them, including Dmitri Tiomkin's music for the 1933 "Alice in Wonderland"; John Barry's 1974 version; Richard Hartley's score for the 1999 TV version; and music by Danny Elfman for Tim Burton. The programme also features music by Howard Shore for "The Last Mimzy"; Christian and Joe Henson for "Malice in Wonderland"; Christophe Beck for "Phoebe in Wonderland" and Don Davis's music for "The Matrix". The Classic Score of the Week is Sammy Fain's and Oliver Wallace's music for Walt Disney's 1951 animated "Alice in Wonderland".

This afternoon I went to see ALICE THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS to bring you a day of release review on the follow up to Tim Burton's ALICE IN WONDERLAND. Personally I had high hopes with James Bobin taking over the directorial reigns with his successful Muppet's reboot. When I saw the trailer though it seemed the same old same old. Disney trailers lately though have been very poorly put together in raising my excitement. So, how did the film wind up through? Does it take the material and achieve a better thread that we experienced in the first film or does it stagger into the same issues? We shall see!

It's the day of the documentary filmmaker on BEHIND THE LENS this week as we welcome special guests Soren Peter Sorensen and Ido Haar. First up is director/editor/cinematographer SOREN PETER SORENSEN talking up his timely and compelling film, MY FATHER'S VIETNAM. With Memorial Day around the corner, this personal insight into a chapter of American history that fractured the country and dismissed the needs of soldiers, shines a poignant light on Soren's journey to not only document and personalize chapters of American history through the lives of three American soldiers, but to understand his own father better. A first film for Soren, listen as he talks about his learning curve and approaching the making of MY FATHER'S VIETNAM. At the 45 minute mark, Israeli filmmaker IDO HAAR is live talking about his latest documentary, PRESENTING PRINCESS SHAW. A fascinating underlying story about a "wannabe" singer, Samantha Montgomery aka Princess Shaw, and Israeli musician and video maestro Kutiman who, unbeknownst to the subjects, mashes up videos from the world to create new musical works, Ido crosses the globe and genres as he explores and exciting creative and collaborate melding of the arts. Hear excerpts of film critic debbie elias' exclusive interview with LUKE WALKER as he talks about his new documentary AUSTRALIA'S LOST GOLD. Be it truth, legend, myth or a little bit of everything, Walker has been obsessed with the story of Aussie Harold Lasseter who died in 1931 having never revealed the location of a seven-mile vein of gold he allegedly found deep in Central Australia. Numerous expeditions have tried and failed to find the gold, but 80 years later, it has never been found, prompting rumors about Lasseter and "the truth" too numerous to count. Never doubting in his father, Lasseter's son Bob has continued the search and his invitiation to Luke Walker to join him is the jumping off point for this unfolding mystery as Luke then takes the audience along on his own journey of discovery as he taps into that little bit of Indiana Jones, Nancy Drew, the Hardy Boys and Temperance Brennan that lurks within each of us. Plus, hear a little bit from Mike Epps as he talks about working with an ensemble cast. And don't be late to get some insight from director James Bobin and producer Suzanne Todd as they talk about melding the Carrollian, Burtonian and now Bobinian worlds for Disney's new timeless classic, ALICE THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS! http://behindthelensonline.net http://eliasentertainmentnetwork.com
