Prophecy Radio episode #117 discusses Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 1, episode 6, “We Take a Zebra to Vegas.” How was Lin-Manuel Miranda as Hermes? What did they change from the books? Is Grover everyone's number one suspect for the lightning thief!? We also tackle the latest Percy Jackson news and read a few pieces of listener feedback. New episodes of Prophecy Radio air weekly, and we keep our discussions PG-13. News and Updates (00:01:44) Take this quiz to find out which hero you are. Here's the BTS video for episode 4. Have you seen the BTS video for episode 3? If so, send it our way! Did you see how close they're standing in the episode 5 poster!? Rick has been sharing a lot of memories on Threads. James Bobin has been nominated for a Directors Guild of America award for his work on Percy Jackson and the Olympians! There will be a Camp Half-Blood experience in São Paulo, Brazil. Kristen JUST MISSED the Percy Jackson and the Olympians exhibit now in Hollywood Studios. Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 1, episode 6, “We Take a Zebra to Vegas” (00:15:21) What did we think of this episode overall? Let's kick off our discussion by breaking down Percy's latest nightmare. The Iris Message scene was amazing for SO many different reasons. Why was Luke in Chiron's office??? You should've heard our shriek when Luke called Percabeth an old married couple. Percy needs to be a little more aware of how sensitive some demigods are about their parents. Who has two thumbs and can release a horde of animals into downtown Las Vegas? Does Grover not care about humans? Did you catch that cute turtle on the median? The Lotus Hotel and Casino was beautiful, inside and out. “Levitating” by Dua Lipa was an inspired choice. We love how the kids immediately remembered about the Lotus Eaters. Graphic novels (and audiobooks) still count as reading!! We finally get a Wise Girl!!! Grover seemed a little miffed at Annabeth. We get some backstory on Luke and Hermes. Meanwhile, Grover meets Augustus. Annabeth doesn't know what to do about the bigger plan at play here and Percy is SHOCKED. Why would Pan be in the Lotus Hotel and Casino? Does anyone know what story Hermes was telling when he was first introduced? The way Hermes' face turns pained when they introduce them as Luke's friends! Was there anything of note in Hermes' office? Annabeth has all the subtly of a sledgehammer. Mortal/god relationships are toxic. What was up with that Young Percy flashback? Hermes is insidious in a different way from Ares. Did you catch Annabeth pulling out her hat as she left? Hermes has some great quotes about parenting. What is Hermes' motivation here? Speaking of motivation, what about Augustus' motives? Was Grover actually close to finding Pan? Percy chose not to lie to Grover about how he kind of made them late. The driving scene was hilarious, and we loved every second. Does 3N17 stand for anything? They made it to Santa Monica in one piece!! This episode gave us some flashbacks to the Tartarus scenes from the books. Is this the same nereid from the other episode? The deadline already passed!! Percy refuses to give up on his quest. There's no way one of those pearls doesn't break, right? What's the difference between a nereid and a naiad? Feedback (01:51:13) notjustanotherfangirl is looking forward to season 2's credits sequence. Nicolaas rightly says that mechanical monster from episode 1 was a rhino, not a bull. Morgan had a guess for those bat/serpent/octopus creatures. Judith likes that Grover doesn't eat random things when he's upset. Jessica wants to know which added scenes we've liked best so far. Solomon had some thoughts on Medusa. Toby Stephens News warns us that making viewers reevaluate the definition of monstrosity is Jon Steinberg's love language. We need Athena and her owl ASAP. Jessica writes back in to talk about the winter solstice visit. And Nicolaas also loved Hephaestus' musical cues. Thanks for listening, and tune in next time for episode 118, in which we'll discuss Percy Jackson and the Olympians episode 7! This episode's hosts are: Karen Rought and Kristen Kranz. Prophecy Radio episode #50 celebrates by taking a look back over the last year and revisiting our very first episode! Karen and Kristen also tackle all the latest news, including some followup on the Percy Jackson and the Olympians teaser trailer, as well as discuss Percy Jackson and the Last Olympian chapter 5. New episodes of Prophecy Radio air weekly, and all ages are welcome to tune in. News and Updates (00:02:13) The Percy Jackson and the Olympians teaser trailer has a ton of views on both Twitter and YouTube. Let's jump right into Rick's September 17 blog post. He shares lots of behind-the-scenes moments, including some fanboying over Harvey Guillén. Rick also addressed those comments about the English and Greek letters on the Camp signs in the most Rick way, and we come up with a new headcannon. As for those symbols on the cabins? They're something new, and we spend some time theorizing about what they could mean. We totally agree those new CBH shirts are fire, and we can't wait to purchase them. Much to Karen's delight, we are getting a brand new Roshani Chokshi book from Rick Riordan Presents, titled The Spirit Mirror. Speaking of books, if you're looking for books like Percy Jackson, Everyday Reading has a list for you. Okay, we're bringing the tone down a little to talk about something a bit more serious: Roseanne A. Brown's comments about the review bombing she's been getting on Serwa Boateng's Guide to Vampire Hunting. In a similar vein, Tracey Baptiste (author of the upcoming Moko Magic duology from RRP) also spoke about the backlash to the Little Mermaid trailer and why representation matters. (P.S. The book Karen was talking about is called Skin of the Sea by Natasha Bowen and was inspired by her Nigerian heritage.) Ending on a high note, we mention Read Riordan's article where the gods give back-to-school advice. More importantly, however, we get to take a quiz to find out which Rick Riordan Presents heroine we are. 50th Episode Celebration Extravaganza (00:40:54) We take a trip down memory lane and look back on how far we've come from Prophecy Radio episode 1. Thank goodness we fixed up our audio! This podcast has so much untapped potential, even still to this day! We have a lot more to go, and we hope you'll stick around to enjoy it with us. Yes, we're still obsessed with our logo, and no we're never going to shut up about it. We were excited to find a community with our podcast, but we never expected to gain so many new friends in our fellow Riordanverse podcasters. Where were we in terms of the news this time last year? We didn't even have the greenlight yet! James Bobin wasn't hired. There was an open-call for Percy Jackson. Back then, they were aiming for a 2023 delivery, and that's unfortunately been moved back to 2024. We're still waiting on the Kane Chronicles movie, but at least now we have a better idea of where they are in the process. In 2021, we were still waiting on Cursed Carnival, Daughter of the Deep, and Tristan Strong Keeps Punching—all of which have been successful releases! The way we did our chapter reviews is pretty different from how we do them now. Thank you to everyone who writes into us every week. We really appreciate you all! Percy Jackson and the Last Olympian discussion (00:51:53) It's time to jump into Percy Jackson and the Last Olympian chapter 5. We're really going to miss Beckendorf—along with everyone at Camp. Mrs. O'Leary was hilarious in this chapter. Percy is not immune to dog drool, unfortunately. Leneus was so. annoying. Percy would totally know if Grover died. Was Percy out of character in this chapter? Nico being able to talk to Beckendorf…that's heavy. We still want to know more about Nico's plan. It's frustrating that the only reason Percy agrees is because Annabeth called him a coward. It's time to shadow travel!! Feedback (01:15:58) A listener writes in to correct one of our interpretations of the teaser trailer. Thanks for listening, and tune in next time for episode 51, where we'll do a Monster Guide on Echidna and Chimera. This episode's hosts are: Karen Rought and Kristen Kranz. Prophecy Radio episode #45 celebrates Percy Jackson's birthday by discussing the latest news, taking some quizzes, testing the hosts' trivia skills, and discovering what NOT to gift a demigod. Kristen and Karen also discuss “Percy Jackson and the Bronze Dragon” as well as “Percy Jackson and the Sword of Hades.” They'll return next week to start rereading Percy Jackson and the Last Olympian. New episodes of Prophecy Radio air weekly, and all ages are welcome to tune in. News and Updates (00:02:06) Percy Jackson and the Olympians was filming a non-book scene on August 8. Make sure you grab a copy of the Tristan Strong Punches a Hole in the Sky graphic novel. Not sure if it's your jam? Check out the preview on Read Riordan. Walker Scobell's Secret Headquarters is now out on Paramount+. Speaking of Walker, he likes when Percy gets angry. Becky reminds everyone this is not out of character. Variety's Power of Young Hollywood Impact Report 2022 is out, and it features none other than Walker Scobell! And, of course, Becky has nothing but nice things to say. James Bobin is heading home! The Empire State Building has been cryptic for DAYS. The cover reveal for Graci Kim's The Last Fallen Realm is STUNNING. Happy birthday, Dior Goodjohn, who turned 16 on August 13! Let's check out Rick's August 13 blog post. On-set catering is SUPER important, and we love that Rick thanked them for their hard work. Steph Lurie is a rockstar, and we're so happy she made it to set. They don't necessarily film in order, and at any given time, different people are working on different aspects of various episodes. Rick does tell us roughly where they are in the story right now, though. And yes, there are some added scenes, which are Rick Riordan-approved! Apparently Aryan and the dryads and satyrs are hilarious and amazing. Rick even has trouble picturing anyone but these three as the trio now. We catch up on updates about the Daughter of the Deep and Kane Chronicles adaptations. Happy birthday, Percy Jackson! (00:21:41) Here are the 5 gifts you should NEVER give a demigod. If you want to try your hand at finding some (mostly) natural blue foods, we've got a list for you! Which Percy Jackson creature are you? Are you ready for some Percy Jackson trivia? It's time to read “Percy Jackson and the Bronze Dragon”! When does this story take place? In most cases, giant ants are not a great sign. So…this is Festus, right?? Did you know Greek dragons don't usually have wings? Do you think the demigods will make use of this newfound anthill? How much of this did Annabeth actually plan? This story had a ton of action, but there was a lot of Percabeth love, too! Let's talk about “Percy Jackson and the Sword of Hades.” When does this one take place? Are Sally and Paul already married!? Why did the Mist turn Mrs. O'Leary into a poodle? The Persephone from this story is very different from her depiction in the movie. Hades' sword seems like a pretty epic (and dangerous) weapon. We see the return of Ethan Nakamura! Escaping the Underworld and defying death is NOT easy. Could these short stories ever appear in the show? Despite his injuries, Percy remains a total badass the entire time. Will we learn more about Nico's mom? How amazing is it that Percy has no ghosts!? Hello, Bob!!! Turns out Persephone is a tricky little devil. Thanks for listening, and tune in next time for episode 46, in which we'll discuss our What If…? season 4 ideas relating to Battle of the Labyrinth. We'll also be diving into The Last Olympian, reading one chapter at a time. This episode's hosts are: Karen Rought and Kristen Kranz. Welcome to Prophecy Radio, a Percy Jackson podcast dedicated to all of Rick Riordan's past, present, and future projects! Co-hosts Karen Rought and Kristen Kranz discuss the latest news in the Percy Jackson/Rick Riordan Presents fandom, then discuss our What If…? season 3 scenarios—aka the Titan's Curse edition—as well as review Percy Jackson and the Battle of the Labyrinth chapters 3 and 4. New episodes of Prophecy Radio air weekly, and all ages are welcome to tune in. News and Updates (00:00:54) Read Riordan tells us what to do in the event we lose our divine weapon. It's amazing to see how many Rick Riordan Presents books you can read to celebrate AANHPI month! Who doesn't want some PJOTV news!? We recently found out Percy Jackson and the Olympians episode 1 will start filming on June 2. We also learned they recently did a table read and that Becky is SUPER excited for the actor playing Chiron. Social media is great for BTS videos and pictures. Make sure you're following the Percy Jackson and the Olympians cast. But it's smart to keep in mind that not every kid they're hanging out with is going to be on the show. James Bobin is testing the cameras, and even that makes us emotional. Mark Oshiro says the Solangelo book is done with the major edits! We also learned about how long it is, and we are so excited! Did you see the trailer for Idris Elba Leah's new movie, Beast? Mark your calendars! The Last Fallen Moon by Graci Kim now has a new release date. What If…? season 3—Titan's Curse (00:19:44) You can listen to What If…? season 1 on Prophecy Radio episode #9 and What If…? season 2 on Prophecy Radio episode #23. Thanks, Rachel, for reminding us about doing one for Titan's Curse! Should we do an episode about how they could've improved the movies with a Titan's Curse adaptation? This book has a lot of pivotal moments and makes for a great What If…? episode. Karen wonders what if…Zoë had survived? Thalia would be the likely target for the one dying at their parent's hand, but what if it was Percy instead? Kristen wants to know what if…Dr. Chase was a terrible father? This could have major ripple effects down the line. Karen now needs to know what if…Percy never met Rachel Elizabeth Dare at the Hoover Dam? This might not have made as much of an impact down the line, but would Percy and Annabeth have gone on their date!? Now Kristen is curious what if…Luke let Annabeth die? We're gonna go ahead and just say no to this whole scenario. Fast-forwarding to Karen's next question: What if…Luke had died at the end of the book? Who would've become Kronos' vessel? Kristen's actually got a nice one now: What if…Nico didn't blame Percy for Bianca's death? Would it have taken a lot longer to find out who Nico's godly parent was? Thank you to everyone who wrote in their own What If…? scenarios! What…if Luke had been the one turned into a tree? What if…Percy had gone missing instead of Annabeth? What if…Nico, Bianca, and Percy had never gone outside with Dr. Thorne? What if…Zoë had killed Atlas? What if…Nico snuck away on the quest like Percy? Battle of the Labyrinth chapter reviews (00:56:52) We're so happy we're back to reading our chapters for the week! It's time to talk about Percy Jackson and the Battle of the Labyrinth chapter 3! We finally find out what Clarisse's secret quest was! By the way, we're totally here for this Clarisse and Annabeth friendship. Luke trying to navigate the labyrinth is…not a good thing. Rick's concept of Ariadne's string is really interesting here. Pan being trapped in the labyrinth would make SO much sense. We are totally here for Annabeth breaking some rules. Is it weird we're kind of into the war games? Thank goodness Annabeth knows…everything. The labyrinth is a little timey-wimey. Grover, as always, has genius comedic timing. Everything has been building to Percabeth, and we are HERE for it. Now it's time for Battle of the Labyrinth chapter 4! Prophecy Count #16! It's more of a dream of the past than anything else, but it totally counts. We're so glad we did a Monster Guide episode on the Minotaur! It's not often Clarisse has emotions other than anger, but we love her growth. Can we make going to the Oracle a little less dangerous?? We want Quintus to be good, but he's super suspicious. Callie weighs in on Theseus, son of Poseidon. Does Clarisse have feelings about Chris Rodriguez? Prophecy Count #17! It's a very important prophecy, and Annabeth is totally not fooling into believing she forgot the last lines. Annabeth breaks the rules AGAIN. But it's so nice to see Annabeth and Tyson's relationship growing stronger. Single-use items are THE WORST. Okay, BUT THE PERCABETH HUG!? Grover really, really doesn't like caves. Callie stole Kristen's favorite moment—how rude! The Percabeth hug really was the best part of this chapter, though. Feedback (01:29:47) Caoimhe writes in again and makes us feel AWESOME. We're REALLY excited to start the Kane Chronicles series. And, oh boy, she likes the longer episodes! Can you tell our voices apart yet? Check out Prophecy Radio episode #4 for our Daughter of the Deep discussion. In Fabric (2018) - Peter StricklandKatalin Varga (2009) - Peter StricklandBerberian Sound Studio (2013) - Peter StricklandThe Duke of Burgundy (2014) - Peter StricklandSkyfall (2012) - Sam MendesPhantom Thread (2017) - Paul Thomas AndersonA Street Cat Named Bob (2016) - Roger SpottiswoodeThe Matrix (1999) - Lana Wachowski, Lilly WachowskiThe Mask (1994) - Chuck RussellWhat We Do in the Shadows (2014) - Jemaine Clement, Taika WaititiThor: Ragnarok (2017) - Taika WaititiJojo Rabbit (2019) - Taika WaititiFlight of the Conchords (2007-2009) - James Bobin, Jemaine Clement, Bret McKenzieDe Jurk (1996) - Alex van WarmerdamLove Actually (2003) - Richard CurtisHustlers (2019) - Lorene ScafariaInstinct (2019) - Halina ReijnNuestro Tiempo (2018) - Carlos ReygadasJoker (2019) - Todd PhillipsThe Hangover (2009) - Todd PhillipsWat verder nog voorbij kwam:Peter Strickland & GialloPeter Strickland & sexploitatieCat's EyesCavern of Anti-MatterHet warenfetisjisme van Marx---Host: Lauren MurphyGasten: Jesse Heijnis, Maan MeelkerTechniek: Lieke Malcorps (Dag en Nacht Media) See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Au programme :  01:36 Once Upon a Time… Producers David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman join me by phone to discuss their film Wonder and their work as producers in film and television. David Hoberman David Hoberman (Producer) is the founder and co-owner of Mandeville Films and Television. He is one of the leading producers in the entertainment industry today. His Disney-based company, Mandeville Films, is among the most profitable and respected production labels in the entertainment industry. Other notable films include the critically hailed Academy Award©-nominated feature THE FIGHTER, starring Mark Wahlberg, Christian Bale, Melissa Leo and Amy Adams, and directed by David O. Russell. Produced for $25 million, the film went on to gross almost $130 million worldwide and earned a host of awards, including an Academy Award© nomination for Best Picture and Best Supporting Actor and Actress Awards for Bale and Leo. Hoberman founded Mandeville Films in 1995 and signed a five-year first look pact with the Walt Disney Studios. In 1999, Hoberman signed a first-look deal for Mandeville at the Walt Disney Studios with Lieberman. Two years later, Lieberman became a co-partner in the company. Hoberman created the award-winning “Monk,” a one-hour series for USA Network. Executive-produced by Mandeville and spearheaded by Hoberman, “Monk” aired for eight seasons. Prior to forming Mandeville Films, Hoberman served as president of the Motion Picture Group of the Walt Disney Studios, where he was responsible for overseeing development and production for all feature films for Walt Disney Pictures, Touchstone and Hollywood Pictures. During Hoberman’s tenure, Disney was often the top studio in domestic box-office grosses. In 1990, PRETTY WOMAN, supervised by Hoberman, was the top- grossing film of the year, and its soundtrack was the top-selling soundtrack of the year. Hoberman was also behind major blockbusters at the studio, including FATHER OF THE BRIDE, WHAT ABOUT BOB, DEAD POETS SOCIETY, ED WOOD, DANGEROUS MINDS, RUTHLESS PEOPLE, BEACHES, THREE MEN AND A BABY and HONEY, I SHRUNK THE KIDS. While an executive at Disney, Hoberman championed the first-ever full-length stop-motion animation feature, Tim Burton’s THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS. Hoberman started his career working in the mailroom at ABC and quickly ascended in the entertainment business, working for Norman Lear’s Tandem/T.A.T. in television and film. He worked as a talent agent at ICM before joining Disney in 1985. Today, Hoberman is an associate professor at UCLA’s Graduate School in the Producers Program. He sat on the board of the Starlight Starbright Foundation for more than 10 years, is a member of the Board of the Anxiety Disorders Association of America and sat on the Board of the Los Angeles Free Clinic for six years. Hoberman is also a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. He is a member of the Board of Suffolk University in Boston and on the Board of Overseers at the Hammer Museum, Los Angeles. Todd Lieberman Todd Lieberman (Producer) is a co-owner of Mandeville Films and Television. He is one of the leading producers in the entertainment industry today. His Disney-based company, Mandeville Films, is among the most profitable and respected production labels in the entertainment industry. In 2001, Lieberman was named one of the “35 under 35” people to watch in the business by The Hollywood Reporter, which also ranked Lieberman and Hoberman among the 30 most powerful producers in Hollywood. He holds a B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania. Lieberman is a member of the Motion Picture Academy of Arts and Sciences and a judge for the Academy’s Nicholl Fellowship in Screenwriting. He is also a member of the Television Academy and a Producer’s Guild mentor, as well as an active member of the Los Angeles chapter of the Young Presidents’ Organization. About Mandeville Films Since its founding in 1995, Mandeville Films has produced feature films that have grossed more than $2.5 billion in domestic box-office receipts and their slate includes a wide variety of genres, anchored by character-driven stories with universal, often uplifting themes. Todd and David’s  most recent movie is Disney’s live-action retelling of BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, starring Emma Watson as Belle and Dan Stevens as The Beast. The critically- hailed film, directed by Bill Condon, has broken boxoffice records worldwide and has become the highest grossing PG-rated film in North America of all time. It also stars Emma Thompson, Kevin Kline, Josh Gad, Luke Evans, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Ian McKellan, Ewan McGregor, Audra MacDonald. Upcoming movies include STRONGER, the inspirational story of Boston marathon survivor Jeff Bauman, directed by David Gordon Green, starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Tatiana Maslany, Miranda Richardson and Clancy Brown, to be released September 22, 2017 by Roadside Attractions. STRONGER makes its world premiere at the 2017 Toronto Film Festival. Following that is WONDER, based on R.J. Palacio’s best-selling YA novel, directed by Stephen Chbosky, starring Julia Roberts, Jason Tremblay and Daveed Diggs, to be released November 17, 2017 by Lionsgate. Both films were developed in house at Mandeville. Mandeville is currently in production on EXTINCTION, a sci-fi thriller starring Michael Pena and Lizzy Caplan, directed by Ben Young, to be released by Universal Pictures. Mandeville is also in pre-production THE AERONAUTS for Amazon Studios, written by Jack Thorne, based on the true story of balloon pilot Amelia Wren and scientist James Glaisher and their extraordinary and harrowing journey to discover the secrets of the skies. Mandeville also produced THE MUPPETS, starring Jason Segel, Amy Adams and Walter, the newest Muppet. Directed by James Bobin, written by Segel and Nick Stoller, THE MUPPETS was one of the best-reviewed films of 2011 and earned the Academy Award© for Best Song. Mandeville also produced the next MUPPET installment, MUPPETS MOST WANTED. Lieberman also produced WARM BODIES, the genre-bending “zombie romance” based on Isaac Marion’s novel, starring Nicholas Hoult, John Malkovich and Teresa Palmer, written and directed by Jonathan Levine, for Summit/Lionsgate. Mandeville executive produced INSURGENT and ALLEGIANT, part of the DIVERGENT movie series. Mandeville has a first look deal with Disney, which has been the company’s home for over 20 years. Under the Disney banner, Mandeville produced a string of hits, including the romantic comedy THE PROPOSAL, starring Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds. THE PROPOSAL became the highest grossing romantic comedy of 2009, earning over $317 million worldwide. It was the People’s Choice award winner for Best Comedy of the year and Mandeville crossed the billion dollar mark in terms of box office revenue with THE PROPOSAL.   *The views, opinions, statements, advice (legal or otherwise) and/or other information expressed or otherwise shared by the podcast participants are attributable solely to the podcast participants and do not reflect the opinions, viewpoints or policies of, or any endorsement by, the Producers Guild of America.

You have to go a long way to find someone who doesn't like Kermit, Miss Piggy, Fozzie and the gang - or Alice of Wonderland fame, for that matter. With this in mind, it's a great pleasure to welcome James Bobin into the Soundtracking family. Not only has James directed two Muppet movies and steered Alice on a recent outing through the Looking Glass, he's played a very significant hand in a couple more pop-cultural institutions too. For having helped Sasha Baron Cohen create Ali G, Borat and Bruno, he then teamed up with Jemaine Clement and Bret McKenzie to bring the wonderful musical comedy Flight Of The Conchords to our screens. Indeed, Bret subsequently lent his expertise to both of James' Muppet movies. We'll be playing plenty of tunes from these films throughout the course of the conversation, as well as some classic Conchords. We also have the joys of hearing excerpts of Danny Elfman’s majestic score for Alice Through The Looking Glass - and a Strauss polka that was all the rage in the 1870s.

Comic-Con International kicks off Thursday in San Diego and I will be there along with Team Mouse Castle and about 150,000 of our closest nerdy friends as we pack the San Diego Convention Center. It will be my first visit ever to Comic-Con, and I'm super excited to finally be a part of all the craziness. I'm also super excited about my guest today, a gentleman who will co-host a presentation at Comic-Con at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday. He's one of the previsualization supervisors with Halon Entertainment, Tefft Smith. Tefft will be joining visual effects editor Ed Marsh to present “Feed Your Head: The VFX of Alice Through the Looking Glass.” Halon Entertainment is a visual effects studio in Southern California that specializes in motion picture previsualization—and what that is, I'm going to let Tefft explain. Halon has done effects work on an impressive list of films including Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Jurassic World, Ghostbusters, Tomorrowland, and Birdman. Their most recent collaboration with Disney, Alice Through the Looking Glass was a visually stunning return to Wonderland, directed by James Bobin and starring Johnny Depp, Mia Wasikowska and Helena Bonham Carter. To tell us all about that experience, as well as his best advice on how to survive Comic-Con is Tefft Smith, my guest today in The Mouse Castle Lounge. With Francine Stock. The director of Love And Friendship, Whit Stillman reveals why, of all Jane Austen's novels, he decided to adapt her unfinished novella Lady Susan. And why he's written a novel of his own screenplay. The co-creator of Ali G and The Flight Of The Conchords TV series, James Bobin discusses the difficult of adapting Alice Through The Looking Glass, Lewis Carroll's well known but little read sequel. Composer Neil Brand tells us the score about another classic opening scene - how Roy Budd's jazz soundtrack gave Michael Caine the edge in Get Carter.

This afternoon I went to see ALICE THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS to bring you a day of release review on the follow up to Tim Burton's ALICE IN WONDERLAND. Personally I had high hopes with James Bobin taking over the directorial reigns with his successful Muppet's reboot. When I saw the trailer though it seemed the same old same old. Disney trailers lately though have been very poorly put together in raising my excitement. So, how did the film wind up through? Does it take the material and achieve a better thread that we experienced in the first film or does it stagger into the same issues? We shall see!

It's the day of the documentary filmmaker on BEHIND THE LENS this week as we welcome special guests Soren Peter Sorensen and Ido Haar. First up is director/editor/cinematographer SOREN PETER SORENSEN talking up his timely and compelling film, MY FATHER'S VIETNAM. With Memorial Day around the corner, this personal insight into a chapter of American history that fractured the country and dismissed the needs of soldiers, shines a poignant light on Soren's journey to not only document and personalize chapters of American history through the lives of three American soldiers, but to understand his own father better. A first film for Soren, listen as he talks about his learning curve and approaching the making of MY FATHER'S VIETNAM. At the 45 minute mark, Israeli filmmaker IDO HAAR is live talking about his latest documentary, PRESENTING PRINCESS SHAW. A fascinating underlying story about a "wannabe" singer, Samantha Montgomery aka Princess Shaw, and Israeli musician and video maestro Kutiman who, unbeknownst to the subjects, mashes up videos from the world to create new musical works, Ido crosses the globe and genres as he explores and exciting creative and collaborate melding of the arts. Hear excerpts of film critic debbie elias' exclusive interview with LUKE WALKER as he talks about his new documentary AUSTRALIA'S LOST GOLD. Be it truth, legend, myth or a little bit of everything, Walker has been obsessed with the story of Aussie Harold Lasseter who died in 1931 having never revealed the location of a seven-mile vein of gold he allegedly found deep in Central Australia. Numerous expeditions have tried and failed to find the gold, but 80 years later, it has never been found, prompting rumors about Lasseter and "the truth" too numerous to count. Never doubting in his father, Lasseter's son Bob has continued the search and his invitiation to Luke Walker to join him is the jumping off point for this unfolding mystery as Luke then takes the audience along on his own journey of discovery as he taps into that little bit of Indiana Jones, Nancy Drew, the Hardy Boys and Temperance Brennan that lurks within each of us. Plus, hear a little bit from Mike Epps as he talks about working with an ensemble cast. And don't be late to get some insight from director James Bobin and producer Suzanne Todd as they talk about melding the Carrollian, Burtonian and now Bobinian worlds for Disney's new timeless classic, ALICE THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS! http://behindthelensonline.net http://eliasentertainmentnetwork.com

Harrison Ford told Jimmy Kimmel last week that Star Wars: The Force Awakens is "really, really good." He praised his young costars Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Adam Driver and Oscar Isaac and added, "J.J. (Abrams)  has made an incredible movie. You will not be disappointed at all. I promise you," On this week's ITMC, Tim and Anthony failed to mention that Ford was also wearing a hot dog costume at the time of the interview (it was Kimmel's Halloween show). We're not sure why this is relevant, but it must have something to do with why we haven't seen Luke Skywalker in the movie poster or trailer. But, we digress. Harrison Ford likes The Force Awakens. That's all that matters. And on a side note, we're pretty sure the first trailer for Captain America: Civil War will screen in theaters prior to Star Wars. Like you needed another reason to hit the cinema on December 18. Here's what else we're Forcing you to listen to today Inside The Mouse Castle: Asian actress Pom Klementieff is rumored to have joined the cast of James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. At the time we recorded the show, we weren't sure what her role would be. Now we believe she'll play Mantis, who's kind of a badass telepathic martial artist in Marvel canon. If true, Mantis will be quite the match-up next to Gamora and her messed-up sister Nebula. Disney announced the principal voice cast for Zootopia. We already knew about Jason Bateman and Ginnifer Goodwin as the leads Nick Wilde and Judy Hopps. Now we know that Idris Elba, J.K. Simmons, Bonnie Hunt, Octavia Spencer, Alan Tudyk and Tommy Chong are also lending their talents to the Byron Howard/Rich Moore-directed film. And yet, despite that deep roster, we're still not excited about Zootopia, which opens on March 4, 2016. We're also not too excited about Alice Through the Looking Glass, the follow-up to Tim Burton's bloated, joyless--but immensely profitable--Alice in Wonderland. Brief video teases for the upcoming film, which opens next Memorial Day weekend, have been popping up online. Meh. The one glimmer of hope that might make us care about the film is that it's being directed by James Bobin of The Muppets and Flight of the Conchords fame. Is Hocus Pocus 2 finally going to be a thing? Maybe. Maybe not. Producer David Kirschner has hinted that the long-rumored sequel to the 1993 comedy could eventually land on the Disney Channel. No word if Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy would be back as the Sanderson sisters, but all three have teased in the past that they'd be interested. Disney Infinity is giving fans of Pixar's The Good Dinosaur a peek at some of the film's characters three week's before the movie opens. The caveboy Spot made his debut this week as a playable character in the video game. His dinosaur buddy Arlo and their three T-rex cohorts are also available as ride-able Power Disc characters.  It's a good month to be a Disney collector with deep pockets. Auction house Bonhams and Van Eaton Galleries are both conducting auctions of rare (and yes, pretty expensive) Disney memorabilia. Don't worry, there's stuff you might be able to afford too. I'll have more about these two exciting events in this Friday's episode of The Mouse Castle Lounge. If you're Scarlett Johansson, you can visit Walt Disney World and ride the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror with your husband just like any normal person. You can also have your souvenir photo conveniently deleted much to the chagrin of your surprised ride buddies. Good thing there are persistent resort guests and TMZ to bring the pic to the light of day. It's actually a really cute photo.  Enjoy! www.TheMouseCastle.comRSS Feed: http://themousecastle.libsyn.com/rss

Confira abaixo no nosso On Demand!
