I truly believe there's a new paradigm for relationships being birthed, one grounded in the concept and foundations of relationship diversity. So, to keep the conversations alive, I've taken a look back at my two years of episodes and noticed some exciting themes emerging. Each week, during my hiatus, I'll post a specially curated playlist of episodes centered on a specific topic. Then you'll find links to those episodes in the show notes to help you dive deeper into areas that might resonate with where you are in your journey. Let's continue exploring, growing, and embracing the expansiveness of relationship diversity together. This week focuses on the relationship structure of soloamory, where individuals prioritize their relationship with themselves and choose to be single. An often-stigmatized relationship structure, soloamory, is a great choice for many people who desire autonomy and value their time alone. Jenny Taitz (Stress Resets, How to Be Single and Happy) is a licensed clinical psychologist, best-selling author, and assistant clinical professor in psychiatry at UCLA. Jenny joins the Armchair Expert to discuss the initial modalities that inspired her to become a psychologist, turning knots in our stomach into bows, and tells a true tragedy of spilt milk that drives her therapeutic practices. Jenny and Dax talk about the most effective formula for saying no, how we can manage our emotions by noticing how we co-create them, and why singing your anxieties to the tune of “Do You Believe in Magic” is a great mind reset. Jenny explains how stress can actually be an incredibly useful tool, how to turn Dax and Monica into world-class ex-ruminators, and her goal to widen the space Victor Frankel suggests in "Man's Search for Meaning."Follow Armchair Expert on the Wondery App or wherever you get your podcasts. As societal expectations continue to evolve, one question increasingly haunts many women: Can I afford to be single? It's not just a financial burden, but an emotional and existential one, exacerbated by a modern culture that celebrates independence and casual relationships while often leaving women unfulfilled. For decades, the feminist movement has championed the notion that women do not need men for financial or emotional support, promoting autonomy and independence. This ideology, while empowering in many ways, has also fostered a new kind of challenge for the modern woman. In the pursuit of careers, financial independence, and sexual liberation, many women now find themselves juggling the high costs—both tangible and intangible—of living alone, alongside the uncertainty of casual encounters in a hook-up culture. The cost of living, especially in urban areas, has skyrocketed, and single women are feeling the pinch. Without a second income or the shared financial responsibilities that come with a partnership, many women are struggling to keep up with rent, bills, and savings. For women who choose to remain single or delay long-term relationships, the price of independence can be crushing. Some may argue that men, too, bear the cost of living independently, but societal expectations still place the financial burden of "singlehood" more heavily on women. A generation ago, traditional marriages offered a kind of financial safety net. Now, with that safety net removed, women face a daunting question: How do I balance my career aspirations, independence, and financial security without the stability of a long-term partnership? For many, the answer has led to a shift in priorities—more hours at work, fewer moments for personal connection, and a growing reliance on short-lived relationships that, by design, never fully satisfy.Sexual liberation has granted women the freedom to explore their desires without the constraints of marriage or long-term commitment. Casual sex, one-night stands, and "friends with benefits" are now normalized, celebrated even, as expressions of empowerment and autonomy. But for many women, these experiences come at a hidden cost. The reality is that casual encounters, while free from strings, often leave women feeling more disconnected. Sex without emotional attachment, once a badge of modern independence, has left many feeling emotionally unmoored. It's one thing to embrace sexual freedom; it's another to find oneself repeatedly engaging in encounters that lack depth or meaningful connection. The stigma surrounding women who prefer not to settle down in traditional relationships has begun to erode, but the deeper emotional consequences are often ignored. As one-night stands and temporary flings become more common, many women report a sense of emptiness after the fleeting gratification fades. Is this truly what feminism intended—sex without intimacy, relationships without commitment? While feminist ideology has undeniably opened doors for women in the workplace, academia, and politics, its impact on personal relationships is more complex. The rhetoric that a woman "doesn't need a man" for support may empower some, but it can also lead to the undervaluation of long-term companionship and emotional fulfillment. The pursuit of independence has created a paradox. Women are told they don't need a man to be happy, yet many find themselves yearning for deeper connections that casual relationships and fleeting encounters simply cannot provide. Feminism has offered many women the tools to succeed professionally, but at what cost to their personal lives? From a man's perspective, the situation seems fraught with contradictions. Modern society pushes women toward a version of success that often prioritizes independence over companionship. The unintended consequence? Many women now face a profound sense of isolation, even as they outwardly project empowerment. The feminist movement's push for autonomy has certainly expanded the choices available to women, but it has also raised difficult questions. How can women reconcile the financial pressures of living independently with the desire for meaningful relationships? Is casual sex truly liberating, or is it a temporary distraction from deeper emotional needs? As society continues to evolve, perhaps it's time to reconsider what empowerment truly means. Independence and self-sufficiency are crucial, but so are emotional fulfillment and long-term partnership. In the end, it's about balance—and modern feminism may need to acknowledge that the pursuit of happiness cannot be achieved solely through financial or sexual freedom. Sometimes, the strings we try so hard to cut may be the ones that tie us to what we need most.Article mentioned: I Don't Know if I Can Afford to Be Single https://www.cosmopolitan.com/sex-love/a62337201/cant-afford-to-be-single/Contact KOP for professional podcast production, imaging, and web design services at http://www.kingofpodcasts.comSupport KOP by subscribing to his YouTube channel and search for King Of PodcastsFollow KOP on Twitter or Facebook @kingofpodcastsListen to KOP's other programs, Podcasters Row… and the Wrestling is Real Wrestling Podcast and join my Supporters Club for any of these podcasts from the website.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/depraved-and-debaucherous--5267208/support.

Amber Tacy says she doesn't have direct ties to the professional cheerleading world (other than a handful of auditions for the Brooklynettes and Jets teams), but she did work as a professional dancer in the commercial space on TV shows like The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and Films like How to Be Single and Ads including Anastasia cosmetics and Ruby Tuesdays. She has technical training in ballet, modern, and jazz from Marymount Manhattan College, where she got her degrees in "Dance Science" (exercise science for dancers) and Psychology. She found that she was a great performer, but no matter how much she worked on her technique and no matter how many classes and styles she took, she just couldn't keep up with the other dancers in NYC. When she got a part-time job working at a fitness studio in NYC, she saw the science of training come to life. She learned about lifting, recovery, and nutrition and after a few months had certifications in all those areas. More importantly, she applied her dance-science book knowledge with physical skills in the gym and FINALLY started seeing improvement in her dancing... her career... and her confidence! In 2020, like many dancers, her dance career took a pause so she quickly shifted her focus to supporting dancers in her community and thus, “Dancers Who Lift” was born. It's an online fitness and wellness community for professional and recreational performers who want to feel hotter, stronger, and book their dream jobs. Her programs have served over 2500 performers, she's personally coached 300+ performers, and her team is still actively coaching dancers globally. It's her personal mission to get a barbell in the hands of every artist so they can take up more space and shine their brightest. I think this is an amazing concept and I'm all for it. I am so glad there's someone in this space who is talking about this. Enjoy this episode with Amber and get to lifting! Psychologists Off The Clock: A Psychology Podcast About The Science And Practice Of Living Well
Our 20s are a time of great change and transformation. But many people overlook this and label them "snowflakes" for not having certain things, like partners, houses, mortgages, big jobs, or kids. The truth is that trying to achieve all those milestones at once without any guarantee of success can leave us feeling insecure and stressed. For this episode, we bring you guest, Meg Jay, a clinical psychologist who joins us to chat about her new book, The Twentysomething Treatment: A Revolutionary Remedy for an Uncertain Age. Her insights are valuable for anyone in their twenties, about to enter their twenties, or even in their early thirties. Even If you are a parent with young adult children or a therapist who works with young adults, her book offers a solid foundation to help you understand the experiences of individuals at this developmental stage.Listen and Learn: Are we being too hard on twenty-somethings? What do evolution and science tell us about the role of uncertainty for humans? The impact of technology, particularly the internet and social media, on the difficulties faced by individuals in their twenties Is medication always the best medicine? This Valentine’s Day eve, we’re thinking about love and what the economy has to do with it. Coming off the heels of a high-inflation period, is this a good time in our economy to find love? On the show today, Julia Carpenter, a personal finance reporter for The Wall Street Journal, discusses how the economy shapes our relationships, the growing wealth gap between single and married people, and the idea of a “money date.” Then, married people enjoy many legal benefits that aren’t extended to single folks. Is it time to change that? And this week’s answer to the Make Me Smart question is all about Swiftynomics! Here’s everything we talked about today: “Couples Embrace the Least Romantic Date Ever: The Money Date” from The Wall Street Journal “It’s Now 40% More Expensive to Be Single and Dating Than It Was a Decade Ago” from Time “‘I'm So in Debt That I'm Afraid to Date'” from The Cut “How the economy shapes our love lives” from Vox “Moving In Together Doesn't Match the Financial Benefits of Marriage, but Why?” from The Wall Street Journal “Opinion | Marriage has a monopoly on legal benefits. It shouldn't.” from The Washington Post “Inflation ran hotter than expected in January, complicating the Fed’s rate decision” from CBS News “Swifties vs. NFL fans: What happens when two rabid fanbases collide” from Fast Company We want to hear your answer to the Make Me Smart question. You can reach us at makemesmart@marketplace.org or leave us a voicemail at 508-U-B-SMART.

Episode 40: Choosing to Be Single by Choice, Celibate and Child-Free In Your Late 30s with Mary Miranda (solo). . I wanted to share my own journey on being single by choice, celibate and child free in my late 30s. There's a lot of shame and stigma women receive for not conforming to societal expectations of being married, having children and raising a family. I have never thought of myself as a woman that subjects to fit into a box of societal expectations and standards, yet I have fallen for its tactics. But, once you get clear on who you are and realize you don't fit into this idea, you set your own path. I hope this resonates with anyone who has been shamed and trolled for being in your 30s, 40s or any age and choosing to be single, celibate and childfree. . Are relationships and men your main personality trait> Do you fantasize, future dream, romanticize about love, meet "the ONE" or even have these thoughts early on without getting to know them? When you go to the store, mall, airport, or coffee shop, do you have those thoughts of “I am gonna get ready because I might meet my dream person, or someone might fall in love with me, kind of love at first sight vibes? If you're the one person on the planet who hasn't heard: I've been on dating apps, and wow, I need to process. Let's do it together, shall we?! Single ladies there is a special message for you. She is a professional certified matchmaker, dating coach, and relationship practitioner. Jennifer J. Hayes understands the challenges facing men and women who are seeking the right person to date, commit to, and eventually marry. She teaches how to prepare for love and how to break free from the barriers that block the desired goal of a lasting relationship. Her years as a matchmaker highlighted the key factor to attracting the right person: emotional and mental readiness. This is one of Jennifer's specialties. Extending oneself to meet a variety of new people is a portion of the process, but it is not the primary factor. Many people desire a good relationship but have not worked through the challenges that sabotage their intimate relationships, and those areas are the focus of Jennifer's coaching sessions.Jennifer's motto has always been to “Love Big, and Live Big!” With more than 24 years in the dating industry, Jennifer J. Hayes has the passion and dedication to helping her clients find love that lasts. She believes in love, fully, and won't stop until everyone around her has what she has. Currently, she is working on her third book Love Big or Be Single, a book about using the same principles of seeking and keeping true and honest love sustainable and satisfying no matter what your station in life. Her countless satisfied clients can attest to her expertise. Throughout her journey as a wife and a mother, Jennifer has learned what it takes to balance it all. She is never one to skimp in an area of her life, and knows that if you want it all, you must commit to it all!Enjoy! #love #valentinesday #valentinesday2022 #romance #singlelady #singlewomen #podcast #matchmaker #matchmaking #matchmakers #valentines

That Horror Show Podcast is back to bring you another new episode. And, boy oh boy, this one is a doozy, folks! So join hosts Timothy Kazda and Chris Koenig as they walk down the grimy streets of The Deuce and catch a zonked-out double-feature of “The Headless Eyes” (1971) and “I Drink Your Blood” (1971). Do these two demented gory shockers make a good pairing for the hosts? Well, fans, you gotta' l listen to find out! But, wait: there's more! This episode marks the return of the ever-so-in-demand ‘What Have We Watched' segment! Sorry for the long wait, but we told you it was coming back. Listen in as Chris Koenig keeps his sleazy side in-check with his take on oh-so wrong “Love Camp 7” (1969), while Timothy Kazda expresses his displeasure with “How to Be Single” (2016).
