William recounted the profound experience of his death in the spring of 2003 at age fifty-three. Fully conscious as his heart stopped and his last breath left him, he described the moment with curiosity rather than fear. As his body lay lifeless, he felt a serene detachment and was drawn to a familiar, invisible realm.Catapulted out of his body, William found himself in the Sphere of Universal Communion, an infinite expanse of aware light. This light was not merely seen but sensed, embodying a presence that cradled him in peace. Within this sphere, he realized he was a unique sphere of communion, one among countless others, all sharing a universal connection. Each sphere held two halves: Understanding, tied to the higher soul, and Memory, linked to the lower soul.William described a spontaneous exchange of Memory and Understanding when spheres came into contact, creating an open and total communion. At times, all spheres merged into a single awareness, a state of unity with the One. This timeless experience, though his body was clinically dead for only two minutes, felt like years.Since returning, William reflected on how the experience transformed his perception of life and death. He realized that living prepares us for dying, and dying teaches us how to truly live. Recognizing the sacredness of all existence, he committed his remaining years to sharing the lessons he learned. Despite the challenge of expressing the ineffable, his account conveyed a message of unity, love, and the profound interconnectedness of all beings.

Have you ever pondered the significance of people entering your life – wondering if it is simply a coincidence that you met, or if they are destined to offer support or impart some crucial lesson during your journey in this lifetime? Our guest today on the Cracking Open podcast, Kara Ladd, is someone I feel certain I was meant to cross paths with in this life. Kara was living what seemed to be the dream life—working in fashion editorial and residing in a stunning apartment that was nestled between two of New York's hottest nightclubs. She embodied the quintessential girl boss, hustling tirelessly. Then her life took an unforeseen turn when Kara discovered a bump under her left knee, which turned out to be a one-in-a-million synovial sarcoma cancer. At the young age of 24, her life as she knew it came to an abrupt halt. She recalls, “I had this full-on cracking open spiritual, out-of-body experience.”While editing Kara's episode last week, life threw me an unexpected curveball. I found myself needing an ultrasound to investigate some symptoms that could have been anything from perimenopause to a potential cancerous mass in my uterus or cervix. Thankfully, my symptoms turned out to be related to menopause (gratitude to Dr. Mary Claire Haver for her invaluable teachings!). But this scare reinforced my belief that Kara's voice needed to be heard on the podcast.Through her journey with chemotherapy and facing her mortality head-on, Kara realized the importance of delving deep into her soul and asking profound questions like: “Who am I? What do I truly enjoy? Are my relationships nurturing me?” Kara is not only a badass cancer survivor but an award-winning multimedia entrepreneur & journalist known for her storytelling, purpose-driven thought leadership, and conscious marketing consultancy for the next generation of modern, mindful brands. She began her career working in the fashion closets of Cosmopolitan and Italian Vogue, then worked at a boutique sustainable fashion consultancy where she spearheaded creative and strategic marketing for high-profile clients such as Amazon. Kara then pivoted back into editorial, working as Hearst Digital Media's E-Commerce and Partnerships Editor, where she created optimized digital content for all 28 Hearst sites. Her features have reached 35 million page views worldwide. In 2018, Kara started her own successful consulting company, KL Consulting.Kara considers her healing journey to be one of the most powerful awakenings of her life and was the conduit for creating her consultancy. She now helps others awaken to their "why" - their heartbeat, their purpose.  Kara's story reminds us that universal light permeates everything around us, and her words help us connect to our hearts. He advises that as you build your business, you can conduct time studies to assess where you're exhausting your time and identify time-consuming activities. Once you analyze your time study, work to reduce activity times, prioritize duties, and automate or delegate tasks. Additionally, you should focus on product development by creating new products and staying up-to-date on emerging industry trends. Lastly, Jamie recommends focusing on profit margin and inventory management. Understanding your net helps to determine your ability to reinvest in new products. In this episode of the eComm Breakthrough Podcast, Josh Hadley interviews Jamie Davidson, Co-founder and Coach at AMZ Insiders, about effective strategies to grow your Amazon business more efficiently. Jamie reflects on his journey to becoming a nine-figure brand. He also discusses building a productive e-commerce team and scaling operations, why product development is integral to business growth, and systems for scaling to nine figures. Today With Amy Morin: Today, I'm with Amy Morin, psychotherapist, international bestselling author, and the host of the Mentally Stronger podcast. Her books on mental strength have sold more than 1 million copies. Amy started her career as a therapist and began freelance writing on the side for extra money after facing tragedy and struggle in her own life.  When her article, 13 Things Mentally Strong People Don't Do, went viral, it changed everything for Amy. The article appeared nationally, including in Forbes, and Amy began speaking publicly about it. Eventually, she landed a book deal (and later five more book deals) and became a best-selling author. Now she continues to create content around mental strength, and her books, podcast, and article have served as an inspiration to me and so many others.  Today, Amy is here to discuss all things content creation, mental strength, therapy, and what it's like to become essentially an unintentional overnight success. Pick It Apart [0:45] Amy shares her overnight success story, and how hard it was to believe it was real. [6:35] Christie reflects on how it just takes one piece of content to make a difference. [12:04] Amy discusses her fears that her written work would impact her career as a therapist. [19:23] Amy reflects on the community that has found her over the years. [30:04] Christie and Amy talk about how and why Amy didn't tie her worth to the success of the book. [34:08] Amy leaves us with some valuable lessons on mental strength. Christie Rocha's and Amy Morin's Ah-Ha Moments "(Creators), I want you to know you didn't just get lucky, you turned it into something and here you still are. Until you 100% believe that you deserve it...I don't think you'll be successful." “Something that so many creators struggle with is constantly turning out content that nobody sees. But it just takes one.” -Christie “You know, I've never regretted sharing my story. I think sometimes it sounds scripted or rehearsed because I've said it so many times or like I don't feel bad that these things happened, but it's just because I've said this story so many times.” -Amy "People are so kind. I have so many people now that send me really uplifting and kind messages, and I think that is fascinating. They don't know me, and yet they send me really nice messages. That's awesome." -Amy More About Amy Morin Amy Morin is a psychotherapist, international bestselling author and the host of the Mentally Stronger podcast. Her books on mental strength, including 13 Things Mentally Strong People Don't Do, have sold more than 1 million copies and been translated into more than 40 languages. She's practiced therapy for over 20 years and she's a sought after speaker whose TEDx talk, The Secret of Becoming Mentally Strong, has become one of the most popular talks of all time with more than 22 million views. The Truth About Addiction
Surviving Abuse, Loss, and Single Parenting ONE DAY AT A TIME

The Truth About Addiction

Play Episode Listen Later Nov 28, 2023 70:05

Today's episode touches on some highly sensitive but really important topics--domestic abuse, relapse, and death to name a few. It is a story that must be told so the shame and stigma of violence and addiction loses its power over us individually and as a collective. Part one of Amy's story describes how it all began---the addiction, the rock bottom, and the journey into early sobriety. Stay tuned for Part two, where we discover what was behind the curtain of her tumultuous marriage and how she has survived abuse, loss and single parenting. More About my:Amy Davis is a sober single mother and interior designer. After spending her twenties and early thirties partying, she realized she would never live up to her full potential nor have her “happily ever after” if she kept on the same path.  And on the outside it looked like she found it.  But behind closed doors it quickly became a marriage fueled by domestic violence, drug and alcohol addition, financial secrecy, pathological behavior, and extreme familial enablement.  After fleeing her marriage with their three year old daughter during covid, she navigated the often unfair and very expensive world of family law using every dollar she had with the support of her family and friends to secure full custody, never giving up hope he would find sobriety and peace.  But one month after her divorce was finalized, her ex-husband died from a drug overdose exposing widespread financial deception and enablement, leaving her and her daughter drowning in devastating grief, loss, and confusion.  Catapulted back into the legal worlds of family law and estate and probate law, the past 15 months have been very dark, but time and healing, have allowed light to pierce that darkness giving way to moments of joy and excitement for the unknown inspite of difficulties. She is learning that speaking up about her experience is taking away her story's power over her while also helping others.  Amy is passionate about de-stigmatizing the taboo topic of domestic violence which often victim-blames and bringing awareness to how dangerous, and sometimes deadly, enablement is when it comes to both domestic and substance abuse.  She is also learning that “Happily Ever After” has nothing to do with what is on the outside, but everything to do with one's own character, honor, morality, ethics, self-love, self-respect, and self-forgiveness. Support the show#thetruthaboutaddiction#sobriety#the12steps#recovery#therapy#mentalhealth#podcasts#emotionalsobriety#soberliving#sobermindset#spirituality#spiritualgrowth#aa#soberlife#mindfulness#wellness#wellnessjourney

Catapulted to stardom during Jim Murry's golden years, Ardbeg 10 bottled at 92 proof and non0chill filtered is still a standard bearer in the category. Impact of Christmas and how it made them feel not being parents - how her husband actually talked about how he felt Noni's decision to talk about their experience publicly has helped with the unwanted questions from family yet people still make assumptions. Difficulty in ‘answering back' to comments made as it's not part of her culture to explain that someone has said something offensive, as it's easier to say nothing than deal with the consequences of saying something.
