Marcus Guider sees with intention. He frames stories the way others frame thoughts, clean, deliberate, alive. As a Director of Photography and Cinematographer based in Lawrence, Kansas, Marcus brings a grounded eye shaped by his time at the University of Kansas and sharpened by years in the field. His work lives where craft meets instinct, where light does more than illuminate. It speaks. In this episode of Visual Intonation Podcast, Marcus talks about the quiet power of mentorship and timing. A single recommendation opened the door to a lasting creative bond with seasoned cinematographer Jeremy Osbern, a relationship that became both guidance and friendship. Marcus reflects on learning by watching, listening, and trusting the process. Growth, he reminds us, often arrives through people before projects. As an ASC Vision Mentee, Marcus continues to refine his voice while staying rooted in collaboration. His career spans commercial, documentary, sports, and entertainment, with clients and collaborators that include Dell, CBS, Gatorade, National Geographic, Fox Sports, MTV, and Sports Illustrated. Each project adds another layer to his visual language. Each set becomes a classroom. This conversation is about momentum and meaning. About building a career without losing curiosity. About seeing clearly, then choosing where to point the lens. To explore more of Marcus Guider's work, visit marcusguider.com, or find him connecting with peers on LinkedIn and Facebook. Trump has decidedly built a white supremacist army within the government. And this was always the risk when the Department of Homeland Security was created after 9-11. Influential people warned at the time that our norms would not protect us against someone who was determined to violate them using DHS. At the same time, white people are putting themselves on the line in a way that is reminiscent of the abolitionists. Child actor Butch Patrick was barely 11 years old when he was asked to screen test for a CBS “family sitcom” and within hours, his life was forever changed. To mark the 50th Anniversary of the debut of one of TV's strangest (and most enduring) shows, “The Munsters,” Gilbert and Frank rang up Eddie Munster himself to find out how he first landed the part way back in 1964, why the original Marilyn was replaced and if he still had his old “Woof Woof” doll. Also, Butch speaks with surprising candor about overcoming his various demons and tells us where “Lidsville” creators Sid and Marty Krofft found their own “inspiration.” All this, plus memories of Chuck Jones, Mel Blanc, Charles Nelson Reilly, Paul Lynde and more! The hiring came soon after Paramount, CBS's parent company, was purchased by David Ellison, whose father is a supporter and adviser to President Trump. New Yorker staff writer Clare Malone has written a new piece, "Inside Bari Weiss's Hostile Takeover of CBS News," based on her reporting on the changes happening within CBS News since Weiss was hired. Malone discusses her findings and takeaways on the state of one of America's most storied newsrooms.

Synopsis: A crime against journalism': Tune in as experts dissect corporate media's priorities - serving shareholders or informing voters? This show is made possible by you! To become a sustaining member go to LauraFlanders.org/donateDescription: Journalism is at an inflection point. Under a hail of lawsuits, firings, new hires, and mercenary mergers, the business of media is in shambles even as the need for reliable, truthful information to reach voters is greater than ever. Where does that leave journalists? In this episode, Laura and her guests discuss the money media's dangerous denials and obfuscations, the problem with bothsidesism in a time of fascism, and the coverage of Renee Good's killing in Minneapolis. Dean Obeidallah is a lawyer, writer, award-winning comedian and host of SiriusXM radio's national daily program “The Dean Obeidallah Show”. Joy Reid, formerly host of the award-winning ReidOut on MSNBC, is a best-selling author, and host of the Joy Reid Show on YouTube. The decline of legacy media isn't all bad news — especially for those, like Palestinians and others, who were always shut out of it — and the rise of independent platforms, savvy media consumers and new mechanisms for collaboration just might usher in a new age of great journalism, just when we need it. Join Dean, Joy and Laura for this rich conversation on resistance, reporting, and survival. [This conversation was recorded on January 14, 2026]“What I would like corporate media to understand, their job is not to make money for shareholders and executives to get bonuses, but serve the people, make them smarter, even if it means losing access. I know that's a lot to ask, but that's what I would like because an educated, informed electorate is the key to saving this republic.” - Dean Obeidallah“It is a crime against journalism for the editorial director of a news network to say our job is not to deliver the news, but to go viral. “I love the use of AI voices or synthetic voices for people who might, you know, they're embarrassed. I've worked with engineers my whole career, and sometimes, like, it's not that they don't want to tell their story or break something out there, but maybe they just don't have the self-confidence or they were made fun of as a kid. I mean, I've always thought I had a super nasally voice and never liked the sound of my voice. And years into public speaking, I'm like, fine, I can, handle it now. So I love it from that perspective of, if, for some reason you couldn't, now you can. I hate it from the perspective of, well, you can't have the human do all this stuff, but instead you just sort of one-clicked it and now it's sort of an average, generic, mediocre, you know, as they say, AI slop.” – Jeremy ToemanThis episode's guest is the founder and CEO of Augie, an AI-assisted video creation and editing studio for marketers and social media managers. He's also the creator and host of Founder at 50, a podcast and newsletter exploring the challenges and reinventions faced by entrepreneurs later in life. He's held leadership roles at WarnerMedia, Etsy, CBS Interactive, and Sling Media, and founded several successful startups in the media tech space. His name is Jeremy Toeman, and we'll be digging into how sound shapes trust, helps tech feel more human, and why even a simple “ding” can change a user's experience. If you love the magic where tech and storytelling meet, this one's for you.As always, if you have questions for my guest, you're welcome to reach out through the links in the show notes. If you have questions for me, visit audiobrandingpodcast.com, where you'll find a lot of ways to get in touch. Plus, subscribing to the newsletter will let you know when the new podcasts are available, along with other interesting bits of audio-related news. And if you're getting some value from listening, the best ways to show your support are to share this podcast with a friend and leave an honest review. Both those things really help, and I'd love to feature your review on future podcasts. You can leave one either in written or in voice format from the podcast's main page. I would so appreciate that.(00:00) - The Emotional Power of SoundOur discussion starts with Jeremy's early memories of sound, including a childhood movie that's made a lifelong impression on him. “They incorporate, like, opera,” he describes 1979's Breaking Away, “into the scenes. When he's bike racing, you're hearing like The Marriage of Figaro in the background. And the last time I watched it through, there's something, like, every time the music would hit these moments, I'm just like weeping on my couch.” He shares his perspective as both a child and a parent when it comes to watching scary movies, and we talk about the hidden role cinematic sound plays in setting the mood. “If you not only turn on the lights,” he explains, “but simply mute it... They might still get tense, but, like, the thing that rocks them to their core goes completely away.”(11:46) - The Evolution of Audio TechnologyJeremy tells us more about his career journey, including the pioneering MP3 and streaming technologies he helped develop around the turn of the millennium, and how the limitations of the early internet led to a stronger focus on sound quality. “If the video buffered,” he explains, “you would be expecting it. It was normal. It was 2005, all video buffered, there was no such thing as non-buffering video. Whereas if the audio skipped even a little bit, it would just be really jarring.” He discusses some of the major brands he's worked for, such as CBS and WarnerMedia,...
We're back late in January and the Super Bowl is set with Seattle and .... New England?! Yes, and we're ready to discuss the coverage of the AFC and NFC title games, plus, the Tuesday evening breaking news of Bill Belichick being kept out, for now, of the Pro Football Hall of Fame on the first ballot that he was eligible. It's all part of the discussion on the newest "LWOS Media Podcast!"Host T.J. Rives is back with his takes, but also guest Ken Fang of Awful Announcing, who's in the heart of Patriots country in Providence, RI, to go over New England being back in the big game and the hysteria ongoing of Belichick being left out of the hall, for now.The guys also discuss the analysts calling the NFL- Tony Romo, Tom Brady and now, Cris Collinsworth, who will work the Super Bowl for NBC, and yet again, with the Patriots as the team.Plus, T.J. has more on Bob Costas returning to NBC's Baseball coverage, Brooks Koepka leaving the evil LIV Golf Tour to come back to the PGA Tour and be featured on CBS this weekend, and more. This includes his remembrances of being in West Central Florida 40 years ago on Wednesday (1/28/86) for the explosion of the Space Shuttle Challenger (and being able to see the aftermath in the sky) and the deaths of the heroic astronauts that played out on live TV, etc. It's all part of the "LWOS Media Podcast" and make sure to follow/subscribe on Apple//Spreaker/Spotify, etc.!
On this Wednesday edition of 5 Clubs, Gary Williams breaks down what Brooks Koepka's return means for the PGA TOUR — and why the “win” might be as much about the return itself as it is about results. Gary also previews the LPGA season, highlighting the tour's depth, the importance of star power, and why Nelly Korda remains a major driver of mainstream attention as the LPGA continues evolving under new leadership.Frank Nobilo from CBS joins Gary to put Scottie Scheffler's dominance in context — including the sensible way to talk about Scheffler in the same breath as Tiger Woods (and even Jack Nicklaus), what truly separates the greats, and why “closing on Sundays” is the common thread. Frank also weighs in on golf's bigger-picture future: the PGA TOUR's potential schedule contraction, how “less can feel like more,” rotating playoff venues, and why relegation/elevation matters to the product (and the spirit) of the game.Later, Taylor Twellman stops by ahead of the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions, where he's competing alongside LPGA stars and celebrities. Twellman shares a powerful story about how golf helped save him after a career-ending concussion, why the sport's mental demands are uniquely challenging, and how he balances focus, flow, and execution over a long round.Plus: Dogs of the Week and picks to close out the show. In this week's episode of CODEPINK Radio, Marcy Winograd and Jodie Evans examine a United States sliding into Level-4 danger as ICE terrorizes Minneapolis, media consolidation tightens censorship from CBS to TikTok, and Trump's so-called “Board of Peace” advances ethnic cleansing in Gaza. They connect these crises to the kidnapping of Venezuela's President Nicolás Maduro and Cilia Flores and the deadly impact of U.S. sanctions across Latin America. In the second half of the show, Marcy speaks with Jeff Cohen, founder of FAIR, about who owns the media, how narratives are controlled, and where to find real independent news.

Last October, Bari Weiss—best-known as a contrarian opinion writer who launched the right-leaning Free Press—was appointed the new editor-in-chief of CBS News. Donald Trump has called her new regime “the greatest thing that's happened in a long time to a free and open and good press.” The New Yorker staff writer Clare Malone wrote about Weiss's hostile takeover of CBS for the January 26, 2026, issue of the magazine. In a conversation with David Remnick, Malone discusses her reporting on Weiss: how resigning from the New York Times launched Weiss to prominence as a crusader against what she has characterized as woke groupthink; how Weiss gained the support of Silicon Valley titans who had their own political grievances; and the headlines about Weiss's rocky beginning as head of a news network, including the on-air travails of her new anchor, Tony Dokoupil.New episodes of The New Yorker Radio Hour drop every Tuesday and Friday. Join host David Remnick as he discusses the latest in politics, news, and current events in conversation with political leaders, newsmakers, innovators, New Yorker staff writers, authors, actors, and musicians.

Barri Weiss wants CBS to actually do ‘journalism,' so of course from top to bottom, they are complaining internally because they are just partisan leftist hacks.
