It's Die Hard in a ghost town! This time week, Phil and Liam throw a bottle in the air and follow it into the desert, as they try to make sense of the dark and brooding action/thriller/western/gangster picture LAST MAN STANDING.During the prohibition era, mysterious gunslinger John Smith (Bruce Willis) rolls into the small, remote border town of Jericho, Texas, where two rival bootlegging gangs have an uneasy and fragile truce. As Smith gets the lay of the land, he works both sides against the other in search of quick profit…until the conscience that he claims he doesn't have, forces him to pick a side. After comparing the film to the original 1988 classic in the ‘Die Hard DNA' section, the boys discuss their feelings about writer-director-producer Walter Hill and his robust filmography, citing their favorite Hill movies. As this particular film is a credited remake of Akira Kurosawa's 1961 classic YOJIMBO, Liam is in his element waxing lyrical about the Japanese maestro. Phil also espouses his theory that Hill's remake is less of an action movie, and more of an existential exploration of purgatory. The guys also talk about this film's remarkable ensemble cast, that features stellar performances from Walter Hill staples John Patrick Kelly and Bruce Dern, as well as the likes of William Sanderson, Leslie Mann, Ken Jenkins, Michael Imperioli, Karina Lombard and of course Christopher Walken as the Tommy Gun-toting mob enforcer Hickey. Finally, the guys bust into the ‘Die Hard Oscars' to fire off some action movie awards, and Phil slings Liam some tough questions in the ‘Double Jeopardy' trivia quiz!LAST MAN STANDING trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=763cIT4IXoQAt the time of release, LAST MAN STANDING is streaming on Tubi in the US and is available to rent or buy on Amazon Prime Video, Apple/iTunes, YouTube, Fandango and all the usual platforms! Welcome to your favorite movie podcast, Not a Bomb!! This is the podcast where we revisit some of the biggest box office failures in cinema history and explore whether they deserve a second chance. We are incredibly grateful for all the support we've received over the last 200 episodes and we look forward to many more. For this special occasion, we decided to discuss the seminal science fiction film, Blade Runner. Despite its status as a thought-provoking and visually stunning work of art, the initial release of the film was a commercial flop. We also talk about the 2017 sequel, Blade Runner 2049, which strikes a perfect balance between building on the legacy of the original and standing on its own as a great film. Unfortunately, the sequel also bombed and failed to make a profit for the studios. To delve into these two iconic science-fiction works, we welcomed a special guest, Cam, offering a Gen Z perspective. This episode wouldn't have been the same without Cam, and we're excited to have him share his insights on this captivating futuristic saga.Blade Runner is directed by Ridley Scott and stars Harrison Ford, Rutger Hauer, Sean Young, Edward James Olmos, M. Emmet Walsh, Daryl Hannah, William Sanderson, Brion James and Joe Turkel.Blader Runner 2049 is directed by Denis Villeneuve and stars Ryan Gosling, Harrison Ford, Ana de Armas, Sylvia Hoeks, Robin Wright, Mackenzie Davis, Caral Juri, Lennie James, Dave Bautista and Jared LetoIf you want to leave feedback or suggest a movie bomb, please drop us a line at NotABombPod@gmail.com or Contact Us - here. How stunning is the confidence of this film? Was Rutger Hauer ever better in a role? Is there a weirder coat in cinema than the one James Hong sports in this? How creepy are William Sanderson's eerie toy “friends”? Who would't want to administer the Voight-Kampff Test on someone? Mirrors are objects of fascination and have become powerful symbols through the course of human history. Our two movies this time have mirrors as the heart of the stories and, in both cases, these are mirrors you might want to avoid looking into! We start off with 1980's "The Boogey Man" from director Ulli Lommel. Opening in a flashback, set in a rural area, we see two young siblings involved with a reprehinsible mother. The brother and sister decide, on a fateful evening, that "enough is enough". When we cut to the present day we see that the events of that past event still haunt them as adults, and a malevolent force seems to be inhabiting a mirror that "saw the whole thing" back in the day. It's a little clunky but still an interesting story with some fun moments throughout. We follow that up with 1990's "Mirror Mirror" from director Marina Sargenti. This one has a great cast of show favorites like Karen Black, William Sanderson and Stephen Tobolowsky. Even Lily Munster herself, Yvonne De Carlo pops up in a fun role! The mirror in this one is haunted by a powerful evil entity that possesses a young girl in high school. She goes on a murderous rampage and must be stopped! This is an overwrought but entertaining movie with some great moments, but it's the level of campiness that really kicks it up to the next level. We then proceed to list the various things we've been watching for fun. Please let us know what you thought of the show, and send us some suggestions for future episodes. You can email us at flickersfrom@yahoo.com or flickersfrom@gmail.com. You can also reach us on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
There were some interesting cases out of Nova Scotia this week, including the Crown's successful appeal of Colin Tweedy's acquittal on the death of 10 year old Talia Forrest, and the retrial of Dal Med student William Sanderson for the murder of fellow student Taylor Samson. There is a new Federal tax in place, which seem to be encroaching on Provincial jurisdiction. The Underused Housing Act targets residential properties that are owned by non-citizens or non-residents, and imposes an annual tax of 1% of the value. The big story of the week internationally is the announcement that Alec Baldwin would be arrested for involuntary manslaughter (the equivalent of Criminal Negligence Causing Death in the Canadian Criminal Code) following the shooting death of the cinematographer on the set of the film 'Rust' in 2021. Baldwin had a gun that was to be a prop in the film. The charges should not have been laid against Baldwin, and this seems to be an effort by the District Attorney to get her 15 minutes.
This week, I focus mainly on Nova Scotia cases, including the tragic death of 37-year old mother of three, Allison Holtoff, and the legal threats made by the Provincial Department of Justice to Independent MLA Elizabeth Smith-McCrossin. MLA Smith-McCrossin was speaking out on behalf of her constituent, alongside Ms. Holtoff's husband Gunter, after Ms. Holtoff died after a six-hour wait at the emergency room of the Cumberland Regional Health Centre. The executive director of legal services, Michelle Higgins, wrote the MLA, threatening her with legal action if she did not take down a letter which she had posted to Facebook about the incident. Other Nova Scotia cases in the news include two decisions dealing with food, social, and ceremonial fishing licenses held by aboriginal fishers, a civilian review of an RCMP officer tasering an armed forces veteran, a delay of 49 months leading to a dangerous driving charge being stayed, and the re-trial of Dalhousie medical student William Sanderson on a murder charge. Finally, I review the allegations against Jordan Peterson by the Ontario College of Psychologists, and the decision to make him take social media training.

Welcome to the Season 2 opener of Fabulous Film and Friends where this week we will be throwing down with a Battle of the Blade Runners , as we compare Ridley Scott's 1982 sci fi giant Blade Runner starring Harrison Ford, Rutger Hauer, Sean Young, Darryl Hannah, William Sanderson, M. Emmet Walsh, Joanna Cassidy, Edward James Olmos, Brion James, Joe Turkel and James Hong with Denise Villenueve's 2017 follow-up: Blade Runner 2049, starring Ryan Gosling, Harrison Ford, Ana De Armas, Jared Leto, Sylvia Hoeks, Robin Wright, , Mackenzie Davis, Dave Bautista, Edward James Olmos and Sean Young. Joining me are the two helped launch this podcast one year ago, Roseanne Caputi and Dave Johnson, DDS. Set in a once futuristic, but now alternate 2019 Los Angeles megalopolis, Blade Runner centers around Rick Deckard, a Sam Spade-style, world weary ex-LAPD officer from a unit known as Blade Runners, who is pulled out of retirement to hunt down five artificial humans known as replicants. Replicants are illegal on earth and used as slave labor in space exploration and colonization and five top of the line, Nexus 6 replicant outlaws led by super soldier Roy Batty, come back to earth in an attempt to extend their life span, which is limited to four years. Aiding Deckard in his pursuit of the fugitives is the alluring Rachel, executive secretary to Dr. Eldon Tyrell whose corporation manufactures replicants. Upon meeting Rachel and administering a device on her known as Voight-Kampf, an empathy test used to detect replicants, Deckard learns that Rachel herself is a replicant, and while cold to her initially, Deckard ends up falling in love with her. After Deckard confronts and kills three of the wanted replicants, -- with Rachel's help—he is pummeled and beaten by Batty and nearly left for dead until Batty has a change of heart and saves Deckard from a precipitous fall off a towering building. Battered and bruised, Deckard learns the true meaning of empathy and he reunites with Rachel. The pair escape Los Angeles and go into hiding, unsure of how long they have together. Set 30 years later --after a great famine and information blackout, as well as a buyout of the Tyrell Corporation by a blind tech giant/savior named Niander Wallace, Blade Runner 2049 follows Blade Runner Agent K, who after a seemingly routine run-in with an erratic old style Nexus 8 replicant named Sapper Morton, discovers a link to events of the past that could change life on earth as they know it: the buried remains of the Replicant Rachel, who died after giving birth to her and Rick Deckard's child. With that discovery, Agent K, a new-style tamed replicant himself known as “Joe” to his AI girlfriend Joi, embarks on a journey to find the identity and truth of Rachel and Deckard's human/replicant hybrid offspring, believing himself to be that very child that will start a revolution. This quest will lead K not only to Deckard but to a face-to-face confrontation with himself and his place in the universe. Who is the winner?

On this episode of “Sanity” Dr. Jason Duncan and Dr. William Sanderson discuss the application of evolutionary psychology to physical and mental health problems most humans face. They define mismatch theory, which suggests we, as human beings, were built for something entirely different than how we are functioning in our current environment. The mismatch between our biology and environment is related to a number of physical (obesity, diabetes, cancer) and mental health (depression, anxiety, suicide, substance use disorders) disorders. The reason for the mismatch can be traced to the technological revolution, our endless food supply, the change in our occupations, and variations in our exposure to light. Dr. Duncan and Dr. Sanderson explore how social comparison, which was integral to the development of our species, is exacerbated through exposure to supernormal stimuli, or stimuli in extreme excess, by the advent of social media. Likewise, the fact we are constantly bombarded with information about catastrophic events greatly contributes to anxiety. They also examine various options to reduce the harmful effects of our exposure to supernormal stimuli. On this episode of “Sanity” Dr. Jason Duncan and Dr. William Sanderson discuss the application of evolutionary psychology to physical and mental health problems most humans face. Core principles of evolutionary theory are discussed, such as survival of the fittest, sexual selection, and inclusive fitness. Dr. William Sanderson explains how the environment we evolved in as hunter gatherers created certain traits necessary for our survival; however, those same traits are “mismatched” to our modern society in a number of ways. Various topic areas related to “mismatch” theory are discussed, including work satisfaction, relationships, eating/exercise, social media, and polarization. FACES OF DEATH & FIGHT FOR YOUR LIFE reviewed and discussed as our quest to review every Video Nasty continues!
And so, here we have a rather engaging, intriguing, suspenseful techno thriller. But... Is it an X-File? Daniel and I aren't sure. But we did both enjoy this episode that features a great performance by William Sanderson, plenty of memorable set pieces, and Ashlyn Gere as you have never seen her before! But it also has a story that doesn't quite make a lot of sense, with the usual convoluted elements that tend to bog down X-Files episodes and not a particularly satisfying resolution. In any case, the episode is what it is. But our talk was pretty cool. Dig in. Today we interview veteran character actor William Sanderson joins us to discuss his extensive career! From Newhart to Deadwood & True Blood! As well as discussing the Evolution of Larry, Daryl & Daryl & behind the scenes stories from his over 40 years in Show Business! Check out his book here: https://www.amazon.com/Yes-That-Guy-Rough-Tumble/dp/1543969127/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=william+sanderson&qid=1608062915&sr=8-1
Noel catches up with William Sanderson. The veteran character actor perhaps is best known as E. B. Farnum in HBO's Deadwood. Sanderson played Larry in Newhart from 1982 to 1990, famous for the catchphrase, "Hi. I'm Larry. This is my brother Darryl. This is my other brother Darryl." William has appeared in many movies, and is known for his role in the 1982 cult classic, Blade Runner as J. F. Sebastian. Last year, Sanderson released an autobiography about his career, Yes, I'm That Guy: The Rough-and-Tumble Life of a Character Actor.
Veteran of the United States Army, Law School graduate, Elvis aficionado, Tennessean born and bred, author, actor. Husband and father. You may remember him as E.B. Farnum in HBO’s Deadwood, or Sheriff Bud Dearborn on True Blood. He played Lippy on my favorite western, Lonesome Dove, J.F. Sebastian on the cult sci-fi hit Blade Runner, he had a brother Daryl and another brother Daryl on little show called Newhart. Maybe you’ve heard of it. Oh, I’m not done. Ever heard of Starsky and Hutch? Knight Rider? The Dukes of Hazard? Married with Children, the X Files, ER, Lost, American Gods. How about Coal Miner’s Daughter, Last Man Standing, Gods and Generals, Andersonville? The list goes on. It was my great pleasure to talk with Mr. Sanderson, one of the GREATEST character actors of all time! His new book, which I literally devoured in two sittings, is called Yes, I’m That Guy: The Rough And Tumble Life Of A Character Actor. Trust me on this one, go buy a few copies. If there’s anyone in your life who’s a fan of older movies, or even an Elvis fan, this would be a great stocking stuffer or birthday gift. Also really lame jokes! Each episode I discuss a real life person or event from the wild west era (gunfighters, lawmen, outlaws, Native Americans, frontiersmen, etc). I'm neither a historian or comedian, but I do try to be as accurate as possible whilst dispensing dad jokes and mispronunciations.

Schlussroller -> Top 3 Dystopie Filme
Craig Muckler was born in 1953 in the Mesabi Range town of Virginia, Minnesota. He was born with a stutter and a determination to overcome it. As a result, he was part of a rock band in high school. His childhood was also influenced by a regular summer visitor, the mother of Rock Hudson. Craig moved to Los Angeles to try to make it in show biz. He was part of the company that produced "Malibu High, " and tried his hand at everything he could, including acting -- his part in a film about skyjacker D.B. Cooper ended on the cutting room floor -- to script writing -- succeeding with the cult classic "Microwave Massacre" -- and he kept body and soul together with such jobs as movie theater employee. A friend and local-access TV producer, Michael Morrison, encouraged him to host his own show, and named it for him: "Craig Muckler's Hollywood Showcase." Among the guests Craig had on the show: comedian Jackie Vernon, actors Aldo Ray, William Sanderson, Misty Rowe, Bo Svenson, Brinke Stevens, director Allan Holzman, composer Susan Justin. Vat 69 was the go-to scotch for Lewis, so it was very fitting for us to be sipping on the drink while talking about the Christian author. The iconic Vat 69 bottle with its bulbous neck was introduced to the market and was not changed for about one hundred years. In 1882, William Sanderson prepared one hundred casks of blended whisky and hired a panel of experts to taste them. The batch from the cask (or “vat”) with number 69 was judged to be the best, and this provided the whisky’s https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brand (brand name). 6/19/2019 - William Sanderson Interview
One of Americas greatest character Actors Mr. William Sanderson. We talk Deadwood Movie, Blade Runner, Sometimes They Come Back and so much more.
William Sanderson has enjoyed a prosperous career in Hollywood as a highly successful character actor whom everyone seems to recognize - but they aren't always certain from what. Spanning a variety of genres over nearly a half-century performing in TV, film and stage, Sanderson has inhabited such high-profile roles as E.B. Farnum in the HBO western "Deadwood," Sheriff Bud Dearborne in the HBO vampire series "True Blood," Larry in the classic CBS sitcom "Newhart" and J.F. Sebastian in the sci-fi film masterwork "Blade Runner.""Yes, I'm That Guy" takes readers behind the scenes of these productions and many more including "Coal Miner's Daughter," "Lonesome Dove," "Lone Wolf McQuade" and "The Client," showcasing Sanderson's knack for making a memorable mark in each of his projects. But as you will learn in his memoir, Sanderson is far more than merely the sum of his characters. His tumultuous rags-to-riches story is instructive in demonstrating the power of perseverance and fortitude in overcoming one's struggles with self-doubt and self-sabotage and - thanks to the love of a good woman - ultimately carving out a positive, contented life.
The mysterious "toymaker" J.F. Sebastian is an iconic part of Blade Runner history—and the man behind the character is just as fascinating. In this interview, beloved character actor William Sanderson sits down with Dan and Patrick to discuss his journey to Hollywood, his experience working with Ridley Scott, and his recent memoir (which you can purchase here, on Amazon). iTunes: bit.ly/shoulderoforionitunes // Google Play: bit.ly/shoulderoforiongoogleplay // For more on this and our other projects, please visit www.bladerunnerpodcast.com // If you'd like to join the conversation, find us on our closed Facebook group: Fields of Calantha. // To support the show, please consider visiting www.bladerunnerpodcast.com/support. Most people know William Sanderson from his role as E. B. Farnum, the shady, self-promoting Mayor from the HBO series, Deadwood, or as the strange hillbilly neighbor of Dick Loudon on the long-running TV sitcom Newhart. Perhaps some of you older Sci-Fi fans may also know William from his iconic role as J. F. Sebastian, the slightly mad but highly compassionate genius toymaker in the legendary science fiction film, Blade Runner. And I’m sure many of you younger, more hip types have probably have seen William on True Blood as the down home hard-boiled Sheriff of Bon Temps- Bud Dearborne. This episode of Kettle Of Fish was the first time we had the pleasure of speaking with William, and as a big fan of his work; from Newhart, to Deadwood, to some of his lesser known roles on shows like Lost, and The Practice, it was a huge honor for us to have the opportunity to pick William’s brain for 30 minutes about his many diverse roles in movies, animation, and television.

He joined International Cinematographer's Guild on the Paramount Pictures production of Soapdish (1992) and began work with respected DP's as Lazlo Kovacs,ASC, Vilmos Zsigmond, ASC, and John Seale, ASC whom gave Rhode work on Ghosts of Mississippi (1995), The American President 1996), City of Angels (1997), and Perfect Storm (2000) moving him up from additional operator to "A" operator to 2nd Unit DP. Rhode further shot over 30 independent movies which included stars such as Faye Dunway, William Sanderson, John Heard, and Debbie Mazar. Rhode moved into television on the camera departments of NightStalker (2006), The Hollow Men (2008), Heroes (2008-9) as well as breaking new ground on the webisode and mobisode debuts of Prisonbreak (2006), Vanished (2007) Mr. Wrong (2008) and the film festival winning Turbo Dating (2009-12) created by Terry Rossio, writer of Shrek(s) and Pirates of the Carribean. This led to Award-winning documentaries by Spark Media/ American Experience's Partners of the Heart and Prince of Slaves followed by the award-winning Bill Brummel Productions of Bullied (2010) and Erasing Hate (2011), both funded by the Morris Dee's Southern Poverty Law Center. Awards include many first prizes in films festivals, Tellies, and Cine-Eagles. Rhode's cinematography has been hailed by Variety as "beautifully photographed by John Rhode." Breaking into directing on music videos and commercials, Rhode co-directed and served as director of photography on the notorious short My Dinner With Ovitz (2003), a satire skewering Michael Ovitz. It created a sensation in Hollywood production circles. Ron Meyer, the president of Universal Pictures, and David Geffen remarked, "it was brilliant." Variety Magazine reviewed it as "a gonzo short -- pic is the most buzzed-about underground project since Trey Parker and Matt Stone's "The Spirit of Christmas." Rhode later took offers directing motion pictures which include the family and adventure films Seeker & Fetch (2011), The Stray(2012) and Trooper and the Legend of the Golden Key (2012). Raised in Wooster, Ohio, Rhode received a B.S in chemical engineering from Ohio State University when he met Frank Capra promoting the book "The Name Above the Title." After a vigorous debate on the conflict between personal need and social progressiveness, Capra told Rhode he should be directing movies. Rhode took his advice and returned to get his MFA in Cinema, moved to Hollywood, and broke into the film industry in the the production and camera departments working on movies, music videos, and television.

What can be said about Blade Runner that hasn't been said before? Hopefully you'll hear some new stuff in this special look at this seminal sci-fi film.
In this third installment of Spiraken Movie Review's Month of Megahackers, Megatechnology, and Megalomaniac Megacorporations, Anime 3000's very own Sean Russell joins Xan to review the quintessential cyberpunk movie from 1982 and based on Philip K. Dick's "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep", "Blade Runner" directed by Ridley Scott and starring Harrison Ford, Rutger Hauer, Sean Young, Edward James Olmos,Brion James, Joe Turkel,M. Emmet Walsh,Daryl Hannah, William Sanderson and a cameo by James Hong Due to a poor internet connection, the sound quality of this episode is not as good as I would have liked, but it sounds pretty good overall, so my apologizes. As for the episode itself, there are lots of tangents in this episode:Reasons why Roy Batty Is The Real Protagonist of this movie, Why The replicants were just misunderstood, How Berserk and Bubblegum Crisis can be connected with Blade Runner, The Debate about if Deckard Is Either a) A Replicant, B) A Dick or C) A Flawed Human Being, what kind of future we will have in 2019, Why Did They Decomission the Dick Clark Bot in favor for the Ryan Seacrest 10,000, How we are slaves to society, and eventually ends up at an existential conversation. So hope we are not too high brow in this episode. Please send us any comments concerns and ideas on how to make this podcast better.
