Being that the score was not settled at Halloween Havoc (Settling the Score), Ric Flair and Terry Funk decided to, once and for all, settle the score. This time, they will face off in an "I Quit" match. Also, Jim Cornette seems to be paying a lot of attention to his new tag team The Dynamic Dudes, and the Midnight Express is not exactly jazzed about it. This PPV was short, fun, and ultimately score settling. First, the Snark Marks talk about Black Friday shopping and share a few memories of working at a bank together. WrestleWar 1989 answered the age-old question "can you have too much of a good thing?" Ric Flair and Ricky Steamboat faced off for their third consecutive five-star match, but the matchup is beginning to feel stale. In fairness, it doesn't help that we watched them in consecutive weeks rather than waiting months like wrestling fans did. It was, however, the best part of a mostly flaccid wrestling program. Michael Hayes does some classic PS stuff and we get a Bam Bam Gordy appearance, and we also get introduced to the Dynamic Dudes, but neither of those two things are worth watching Sting try to have a wrestling match with the immobile object and Twitter superstar Iron Sheik. Wrestlewar '89 was the worst PPV we have watched thus far in this season, but at least Hulk Hogan never showed up. In the intro, the Snark Marks get heated because Dusty pledged his fealty to the Western Bacon Cheeseburger over In N Out burger. For those worried, he is properly taken to task. 00:00 - 15:34 Dusty is wrong about cheeseburgers 15:34 - 2:00:16 WrestleWar 1989 Follow us on Facebook and Instagram @SnarkMarksPod and subscribe to our YouTube channel!

DragonKingKarl A-Z of pro wrestling history series continues by looking at The Franchise of ECW- Shane Douglas. Shane Douglas started out in the 1980s in the later days of the territories. Trained by Killer Kowalski alongside Mick Foley, Douglas broke out in Bill Watts' UWF territory and later Continental before landing in WCW and part of the ill fated Dynamic Dudes tag team with Johnny Ace and a tag team title reign with Ricky Steamboat. But it wasn't until throwing down the NWA World title and the counter-culture ECW rose to prominence that Shane Douglas found his true calling. This episode we discuss the career of Shane Douglas.
It's the midst of the Jim Herd era in WCW and this seven match card had some good moments and some bad ones as well. The good featured a Ric Flair vs Lex Luger NWA World Title matchup that was basically a substitute match due to Sting's knee injury. Plus the Rock and Roll Express and the Midnight Express with Jim Cornette put on yet another tag team classic. Also featured are the Road Warriors, the Steiners, Doom, Kevin Sullivan, Buzz Sawyer, Cactus Jack, Norman, the Dynamic Dudes, Brian Pillman, the Z-Man, the Freebirds, Teddy Long and a pre-Undertaker wrestler named Mark Callous. A new decade begins with plenty of good and bad wrestling and plenty of turmoil for the TBS owned World Championship Wrestling. It's time for season 2!Welcome to the newly christened Haunted House Show podcast. For the next 12 weeks we will take a look at the entire NWA/WCW Halloween Havoc series. Every year. Every match. Your trios tag team champions will carry over the top 5 matches and top 5 shows rankings just like we did for In Your House.NWA/WCW was a different beast than the WWF product at the time. More emphasis on wrestling instead of sports entertainment. This inaugural event features many familiar faces in more serious personas.Tonight's show took place October 28, 1989 at the Civic Center for 7300 fans in one of the greatest cities for wrestling: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Jim Ross and Bob Caudle call the action. Gordon Solie and Chris Cruise do all of the backstage interviews. Everything about this show is different than what the WWF In Your House series showed. There is not just one type of wrestling out there, and jumping from 1990's Attitude era to this is a culture shock. To ease listeners into this change, your hosts promise to stay the same. Matty Treats talks about his terrible work week. We talk about the strangest things we've ever done on a lunch break. Goodwill finds. Filthy retail stories. Heel announcers. Comparing WWF work to NWA work. A surprising amount of body discussion. All of the match break downs and opinions you've come to love. Which match will be the Hot Tag of the Week?! Plus the story of "Yum". Tonight's matches include: Tom Zenk vs. Mike Rotunda. The Samoan SWAT Team (Fatu, Samu, and the Samoan Savage) (with Oliver Humperdink) vs. The Midnight Express and Steve Williams (with Jim Cornette).Tommy Rich vs. The Cuban Assassin. The Fabulous Freebirds (NWA tag team champions) vs. The Dynamic Dudes (with Jim Cornette).Doom (with Woman) vs. The Steiner Brothers. We are fueled and ready to go for yet another adventure in the T.O.W. Time Machine. We head back to May 7, 1989 to witness the final match in the trilogy between Ric Flair and Ricky Steamboat. PS Hayes is on hand to destroy Lex Luger and apparently gave Sting some cocaine. We've got Road Warriors, Dynamic Dudes, Samoan SWAT Team and how can we forget the top superhero from 1989, and of all unintentional racism....Captain Redneck. Be sure to sync this podcast up with the WrestleWar 1989 event on the WWE Network. Enjoy. Support the show (http://www.talkingoverwrestling.com)

It's the final match of the great trilogy between Ric Flair and Ricky Steamboat. Was it the best match of the three? That is still being debated, but it was the beginning of a great angle between Flair and Terry Funk. Plus Sting against the Iron Sheik (Fuck the Stink, I tell you!), the Road Warriors, the Dynamic Dudes and plenty more. Great ready for an entertaining two hours of WrestleWar '89, Music City Showdown as only Conrad and Tony can do... Shane Douglas returns for episode #79 of the Triple Threat Podcast and embarks on a one hour journey to FRANCHISE YOUR ASS during another great episode of TTP. Shane kicks off the show by commenting on the recent WWE HOF rumored induction of his good friend Bam Bam Bigelow and whether or not for the second consecutive year he would induct Bammer if invited by WWE. We also hilariously chat about a 1989 photo of Ted Turner with the WCW baby faces taken at Center Stage in Atlanta that included two Dynamic Dudes and we close the show with Chapter One of a new series looking back at Shane's first years traveling through the territories and making his way to the UWF.
This week @TheFranchiseSD weighs in on the Road Warrior Animal vs. Becky Lynch war of words and takes a trip back in time to a match in WCW he had vs. @TheJimCornette during the Dynamic Dudes vs. Midnight Express feud For this and every other episode of The Triple Threat Podcast please subscribe to us on iTunes, Podomatic, iHeart Radio, Spotify and Player FM.
