As y'all know, I have guests from all over the world with vast viewpoints and feelings about the truth within this Great Awakening. Christopher garners his knowledge through his direct experience as being a "victim" within the foster system where he tells his jaunting story, delivers some in-your-face honesty about Child Protective Services as well as many systems, and shares his viewpoint on how to end this corruption (whether you agree with it or not) AND that one must take action versus just praying or sending good vibes. That, beyond a shadow of a doubt, is true. He closes with the Just Be Practice in describing how he treats himself with care so he can maintain his sanity from crying, guttural yelling to nature.References:Nancy Schaefer ~Corruption Business of Child Protection Services:https://archive.org/details/TheCorruptBusinessOfChildProtectiveServices1Her Death:https://www.ajc.com/news/local/what-really-took-lives-schaefer-case/BF1mNNltQJBjJTv6xlfiPN/Dear Collegue Letter:https://www.justice.gov/opa/pr/justice-department-issues-dear-colleague-letter-courts-regarding-fines-and-fees-youth-andContact Christopher Griffis*:Phone: (904) 325-2545Email: yourunlawfulactshurtmybabies@gmail.com FB: https://www.facebook.com/c.r.griffis He was arrested by six federal officers on Sat, June 1, 2024. Author Lane Igoudin discusses his new memoir, A Family, Maybe: Two Dads, Two Babies and the Court Cases that Brought Us Together. In this book, Lane details the challenges—legal, political, and personal—that he and his partner Jonathan faced in the early 2000s while trying to adopt their two foster children through the Los Angeles County child welfare system. The process took three years and was fraught with much stress, numerous court delays, and plenty of heartache. A Family, Maybe is a story about building a family and discovering what it means to be a father. But ultimately, it is a story about love.

A new report blasts California for continuing to take federal benefits away from foster children, to help balance the state budget. The nationwide study gives California and 43 other states a grade of F, for diverting funds to foster care agencies, without ever even telling kids that the money is rightfully theirs. This has been a practice for many years, but in recent years there's been a movement to ban it, which Arizona has done, and there's federal legislation in the works. California applies for Social Security disability and survivor benefits in the names of foster children, then collects the money and uses it to fund state agencies that provide foster care. But that money is supposed to go to the kids themselves. A bill to end this practice passed unanimously in the state legislature last year, but Governor Newsom vetoed it, saying it would blow a hole in the state budget, and that if lawmakers want to pass a bill that affects the budget, it has to be part of the budget-writing process. For more, KCBS Political Reporter Doug Sovern, along with KCBS Radio's news anchors Brett Berkhart and Patti Reising, spoke with Jessica Heldman, the Fellmeth-Peterson Associate Professor in Child Rights, at the Children's Advocacy Institute at the University of San Diego School of Law, the organization that has produced this new study, which is called “Foster Care, or Foster Con?”
Tina's story is one of community and being in the right places at the right time—or as Tina would say— miracles. After being removed from her mother's home at the age of 16, Tina was placed in a group home. The structure became too much for her and she ran away. For a period of time, she lived on the street, couch surfing with former schoolmates, and in a house where she feared she would be trafficked. She was able to escape and luckily ran into her boyfriend's sister who took her to their parent's house. There she was caught hiding in his closet by a man who showed her kindness and convinced her to return to foster care. Tina was placed with a kind family in a Christian community. It was here she created close bonds and a strong sense of self that propelled her to success. As an adult, Tina is learning to help others through their trauma by becoming a certified trauma recovery coach. She is now married and has two children. She wants to encourage people who experienced foster care that hope is real and it is never too late to ask for help. She hopes to see more programs for people transitioning out of foster care as people did out of the kindness of their hearts when she aged out. She hopes her story can be one that reminds others that everything happens for a reason and that you can be successful in life and love regardless of where you came from. Rob shares his personal insights into the foster care system and how his lived experiences guide the work he does today. Drawing on his experiences as a child who had to carry around a trash bag full of belongings from placement to placement, one of Rob's missions is to ensure that no foster child lives out of trash bag—he achieves this mission through the non-profit that he founded, Comfort Cases. Bob's story is one of resilience and regaining control. Bob first came to America from Ukraine at the age of 5. He was adopted into a family who subjected him to horrible treatment, until finally at the age of 12 he entered the foster care system. Bob went from placement to placement until he was adopted by his third placement. However, after being adopted, the relationship between Bob and his adoptive family crumbled. For many years, Bob had hardly any sense of control over his own life. He was told where to go, how to act, and who he was as a person. He even found out that his birthday had been changed by his first adoptive family. His whole identity had been determined by the foster care system and those involved in it. As an adult, Bob is courageously embracing his past trauma and taking back the control of his life that the system took from him. He wants his story of overcoming adversity to inspire others who may be facing similar circumstances. He wants foster youth to know that they are not the “Property of Texas,” but are instead worthy, intelligent, brave individuals capable of succeeding and deserving of love. He wants youth in the foster care system and those who have aged out to know that it's never too late to take control of your story. What are the unique challenges of children in the foster system and how can we support these students in our schools? What do educators need to know about students in the foster system? These questions frame episode five with Colleen Arriola, a fifth grade teacher and parent who raised 10 children including seven adopted from the foster system. Colleen shares her lived experiences as a parent and an educator and has many insights to share. Educators need to know that students in the foster system are currently in the middle of trauma, as they have been taken away from their families and everything that is familiar to them. Many foster children experience multiple placements, compounding ongoing trauma. Students may struggle to navigate school and its academic and social demands. Some of the specific effects of students' trauma that we may witness in schools include an inability to focus, behavioral issues, impulse control, and difficulty trusting people. Colleen also recommends that we prioritize building trust with students in the foster care system. Another priority is striving to create systems and routines so students know what to expect and what is coming next in their school day. However, as with all students experiencing trauma, each student is an individual and we as educators should avoid generalizations about students in foster care. Slam the Gavel welcomes Sylvia Beachy and Kajal (KK) Emmett to the podcast. Rescue The Fosters is founded by Sylvia Beachy and Kajal Emmett. Sylvia Beachy has 5 years of experience working in the foster system. She has had many roles that include Staff Member, Case Manager, Transporter, Parent Aide, and Behavior Aide. She started out as a staff member at Elks Aidmore group home which is where she met KK. KK was a foster youth at Elks Aidmore! However, KK had aged out of the system with absolutely no place to go! This began the journey of Rescue The Fosters. Their mission is to give the children and youth in Foster Care a voice! They also provide resources to youth aging out of the system to keep them off the streets and out of prisons! Additionally, they also strive to keep FAMILIES TOGETHER! Therefore, they additionally assist families navigating the CPS! Excellent conversation regarding how foster children are in "survival mode" at all times. They have been ripped away from their families and question themselves or if anyone loves them. In Foster Care, the goal is surviving. Sylvia Beachy told her story of how she started out in the system and how workers become desensitized with new influx of children coming into the group home. She also told her story of meeting a young man wearing a homeless sign and she got out of her car and questioned him. He told her he had gotten out of Foster Care with no PAPERWORK. Sylvia helped him get the paperwork he needed to get a job and find his biological mother. Sylvia's message: LISTEN TO THE CHILDREN. Kajal Emmett explained that she was just a little girl roaming the streets as an orphan and how a police officer found her and took her to the proper authorities and he guessed her age by her teeth. Sylvia explained that they still don't know her true age. KK stated to all youth in Foster Care not to be afraid and not to be trapped by fear, that they have rights and to keep track of all paperwork, emails (make copies) and documents.https://youtu.be/qhzuSxirGGMTo reach Sylvia Beachy and Kajal Emmett: RescueTheFosters@proton.me and 770-861-0898Rumble "INSITE" Podcast Thursday 7:30pm ESTSupportshow(https://www.buymeacoffee.com/maryannpetri)dismantlingfamilycourtcorruption.comSupport the showSupportshow(https://www.buymeacoffee.com/maryannpetri)http://www.dismantlingfamilycourtcorruption.com/

***EPISODE CONTAINS ADULT LANGUAGE AND MIGHT NOT BE SUITABLE FOR CHILDREN. November is Adoption Awareness Month. Are you AWARE that the states get kickback incentives for adoptions through the foster care system? Are you AWARE that these incentives are based on how adoptable you are? If you are 14 and older you are considered 'harder to place,' and the price tag for your adoption is much higher than younger children. Are you AWARE that almost $900 million dollars have been awarded to eligible states since these kickbacks have started? Are you AWARE that some families are claiming the states are legally kidnapping their children through the court system and adopting them out for money? These are closed adoptions so these families may never see their family members again! Are you AWARE that private adoptions can cost well over $40,000. Do we care that Americas children have price tags on their heads? Why are children being trafficked by the government? And by agencies with deep pockets? Why is it legal for these government and private agencies to make money from the adoption of our children, but it is illegal and called trafficking if a person tries to adopt out their children for money? The system is broken, and it's time to EDUCATE THE WORLD! THIS IS NOT OK!!! ***If you or someone you know would like to tell their adoption story on the podcast, (Anyone in the adoptee constellation), or if you are searching for a lost love one, either separated by adoption or the foster care system, I would love to help you with your search by getting the word out and having you tell your story on the podcast. Please send an email to MindYourOwnKarma@gmail.com and your story will be considered for the podcast. ***This podcast's mission is on adoption education. If you have an expertise that you think would be beneficial to anyone touched by adoption and would like to be on the podcast, get in touch with me. I love to help fellow adoptees by helping to promote your latest project or expertise. It's time WE educate the world!! ***Please seek professional help if you find yourself struggling with some of the realizations that you may experience during this episode. When a two-year-old girl went missing in the middle of the night and her foster family insisted that she must have left of her own accord, concerns of the validity of those claims were raised in everyone's minds. Given the questionable history of the family she was with, many wonder if Everlyse Cabrera was just another child who fell through the cracks of the foster care system. The foster care system in the US is not designed to support what we now know about positive adolescent development. But it could be. Host Ron Dahl talks with experts Sixto Cancel and Leslie Leve about how we could reimagine the system to align with what science tells us youth need to thrive.
