Are you looking for a fun and educational book to teach your children about American history? Look no further than "Calvin the Coolest President," the new children's book written by Austin and Stephanie Petersen. Join Brian Nichols as he interviews the couple about their new book and how it can inspire young minds. As a married couple with a shared passion for limited government and freedom, Austin and Stephanie Petersen have been working hard to spread the message of liberty. From Austin's Libertarian presidential campaign in 2015 to their current work with AP4LibertyShop.com and their new children's book, the Petersens are dedicated to creating value in the libertarian movement. Their new book, "Calvin the Coolest President," is a fun and educational way to teach children about American history. Based on the life of Calvin Coolidge, the book is generated using ChatGPT and contains factual information about the former president. The illustrations in the book were created using an AI tool called MidJourney, which gives a unique depiction of Coolidge. The Petersens hope that their book will help parents and educators educate children on the importance of American history and inspire young minds to learn more. As Austin explains, "We want to create something that not only teaches children about American history but also inspires them to want to learn more and be curious about the world around them." There can be little argument that the COVID pandemic of the last few years forced a lot of folks to become more acquainted with their own homes, where they found themselves spending more and more time. It is for that reason that the home renovation and design industries stayed healthy while many other businesses struggled. With that in mind — and with spring right around the corner — could there be a better time for the 25th annual North Atlanta Home Show? Set for Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Gas South Convention Center in Duluth, the North Atlanta Home Show will bring more than 160 exhibitors to the area for a comprehensive collection of products, services, displays and experts that covers just about everything related to home improvement. Levine added that with the expansion of the convention center now complete, there will be even more opportunities for patrons to be dazzled by the array of options. Last year's home show attracted some 7,000 visitors and Levine said he can see even more attendees this time around. The home show is produced by Marketplace Events, North America's largest presenter of home, garden, holiday and bridal shows. Levine said just every show produced thus far in 2023 — including Oklahoma City, Dallas, Washington, Kansas City, Austin, Salt Lake City and several Canadian cities — has seen an uptick in visitors.  Suwanee resident and Southern Company Gas/Nicor Gas Director of Corporate Safety Brian Thomas was the recent recipient of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity — Alpha Upsilon Lambda Chapter's Martin Luther King, Jr. Legacy Award for Governmental and Military Service. Austin: the weird, strung out, hippie-fied McConaughey — and Houston? Houston is the slick, confident, coat-and-tie wearing McConaughey driving a fine, Lincoln Aviator Grand Touring. (Ok, alright. Some Houstonian probably made that meme.) The point is, every Texan believes their city to be the best Texas city, and their rival city to be the *worst.* So! A meager but reliable meteor shower should be at its best in the hours before sunrise tomorrow. There won't be any moonlight to interfere with the show, so it's worth a look. The Eta Aquarid shower is spawned by Halley's Comet. As the comet orbits the Sun, it loses grains of rock and dirt. Earth flies through this trail of debris twice a year — in May and October. When it does, some of the comet dust rams into Earth's atmosphere. The debris is moving at about 150,000 miles per hour, so the particles quickly vaporize. That produces the glowing streaks known as meteors or shooting stars. The meteors all enter the atmosphere from the direction of the star Eta Aquarii — hence the shower's name. They can fly across any part of the sky, though, so you don't have to look toward Aquarius to see them. But the shower is best after Aquarius rises, around 4 a.m. Eta Aquarids are best viewed from the southern hemisphere. That's because Aquarius climbs higher across the sky, and it's in view longer before sunrise. Here in the United States, the view gets worse as you work toward higher latitudes. From Austin, there are about two and a half hours of good viewing time, with a peak of perhaps a dozen meteors per hour. From Seattle or Milwaukee, though, the viewing window lasts only about one and a half hours, with almost no meteors in view. Still, occasional bright ones do zip across the sky — bright sparks from a comet.  Script by Damond Benningfield Support McDonald Observatory

What's Between Your Ears is Your Biggest Obstacle, NOT Who's in Front of You | Austin McCulloh - 1448

The Sales Evangelist

Play Episode Listen Later May 19, 2021 23:19

On today's episode of The Sales Evangelist, Donald is joined by Austin McCulloh, consultant and founder of Austin McCulloh Advising. Austin shows people how to prospect virtually, whether using LinkedIn, Facebook, or other methods to take advantage of online opportunities. During his professional career, he's learned that what's between your ears is your biggest obstacle, not who's in front of you. Overcome your mental challenges. None of us are perfect, so stop trying to live up to an impossible standard. Some salespeople spend an hour researching before a main call only to get a prospect voicemail. How much excitement and energy do you have now to make that next call? Have a counsel or advisor around you - people you can bounce ideas off. Especially those better than you. Read The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz to understand and overcome your own self-limiting beliefs. Develop a process. Some salespeople feel out a sale as it goes because they believe that's what a successful salesperson can do. In actuality, a developed sales process is what brings confidence and success.  A big pro of virtual prospecting: You can look at and update a google doc while maintaining eye contact with a prospect. What are some of the things salespeople tell themselves that prevent success? The belief that age prevents success. Those new to an industry or career often think they can't work with someone older than themselves. From Austin's firsthand experience, people genuinely don't care about your age. They care about how competent you are and doing what you say you're going to do. Read anything by Ed Mylett - Competence comes from doing what you say you're going to do.  Austin tips to keep himself motivated: He writes down what he needs to do each day and keeps track of it quantitatively, meaning he can clearly measure his completion percentage. Some days the percentage will be higher than others. But if you consistently control what you can on a day-to-day or week-to-week basis, you're going to be a more competent person.  Austin's advice for the new or incoming salesperson: If you already have the job, figure out if it's the job you want to have. If you don't believe what you're selling, it's going to be tough.  People stereotype right off the bat. So whether it's not having the proper clothing or the right look, don't put yourself at a disadvantage right away. Want to connect with Austin? Find him on LinkedIn and his company website. If you are interested in more sales stories, you can talk to Donald directly. Reach him on LinkedIn, Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook about any sales concerns.  This episode is brought to you in part by Skipio. Are you sick of crickets? As a salesperson, the pain of reaching out with phone calls or emails and not receiving a response is real. In the past few months I’ve been traveling like a maniac! From Austin, TX to Vale, CO over to Scottsdale, AZ and I’ll be off to Los Angeles in just a few short weeks. And as I am sure you know, traveling is STRESSFUL. It’s awesome and exciting and I love it, but it can also single handedly kill your health groove and momentum, if you let it. Believe me, I see it all the time in people I work with, and I’ve also experienced it myself. Fortunately, it doesn’t have to be this way! With a little strategy, you can travel your heart out and keep your health in check. All you have to do is listen to this week’s podcast with former actor, fitness trainer and founder of Open Sky Fitness, Rob Dionne. And don’t forget to share this awesome info with all the wanderlusts in your life.

Janice Lynn Park, the daughter of a Marine, grew up in Southern California within a mile of Disneyland. Her first of many union jobs was as telephone operator for Pacific Bell. As a young single mom of a four day old baby and a 4-year old, she began attending University of California, San Francisco School of Nursing to earn her BS; then attended Cal State Northridge in the Public health education graduate program. In 1992 she started a new life in Anchorage, Alaska, joining her future husband where he had found work doing water treatment on the North Slope. She took nine days pulling a trailer to drive the Alaska Highway—just herself, a small child and a cat.   Mike Siegel: My career has been in public service, as a school teacher, civil rights lawyer, and advocate for communities left out of the political process. I am running for Congress to make sure we have a safety net that protects every American, and to restore common decency to our federal government. I was born into a union household - my mother was a welder at a Caterpillar factory, a member of the machinists union, and was on strike against unsafe working conditions when I was in the womb. I have spent my life surrounded by working people, by people of all backgrounds, and by people willing to dedicate their lives to fighting for the greater good. Through my candidacy, I seek to unite the various communities of the 10th Congressional District who are thoroughly unrepresented by the current Congressman. From Austin to Houston, Bastrop to Prairie View, we all deserve to have our voices heard.

From Austin, TX, this big hearted boss from the lone star state shares with you how to create a business that is SIMPLE, automated and geared toward the mission of giving back.   After opening 18 retail stores by the age of 22, she learned from all those positive and negative experiences what works and what doesn’t work in life and business. She translated what she learned during that experience to translate into her online business and clients.   “If we over-complicate business, we get into that fear mode and resistance.”   If your mission is to give back, don’t wait until you are making money and feel like you can “afford” to give back, it starts now as a habit.   Click here to download her Simple Sales Funnel Formula http://kerrysheppard.com/formula My mission is to provide you with killer content.
