POPULARITY
Believe it or not it's been one whole trip around the sun since we released the first ever episode of Indieventure! And to celebrate, we've opened up the mailbag once again to answer your listener questions. Ever wondered how we find out about exciting upcoming indies to talk about on the podcast, or which indie video game we'd most like to see get the tabletop treatment? Maybe you're curious as to our respective favourite games on the late lamented indie machine that was the Nintendo 3DS — or want to hear us go off-topic once more while we debate which Ace Attorney case would make the best stand-alone game? All this and more will be revealed, including an incredibly cursed final question that must be heard to be believed. This episode isn't really about any games in particular… don't worry though, here's a handy summary of the titles we touch on for all my list goblins out there! This episode is an opportunity to fill your earholes with some lovely (or not) discussions of Against the Storm, Boyfriend Dungeon, Braid, Citizen Sleeper, Control, Dredge, Gunman Clive, Harold Halibut, The Missing: JJ Macfield and the Island of Memories, Monster Prom, Paradise Killer, A Park Full of Cats, Peggle, Sherlock Holmes: Chapter One, Severed, Slice & Dice, Steamworld Heist, Still Wakes the Deep, Stray Cats in Cozy Town, ValiDate: Struggling Singles in Your Area, and Wilmot's Warehouse. And, in this episode's pre-GOTY round-up of what we've been playing lately, we take a trip down false-memory lane with UFO 50, an 8-bit console that never was; discuss whether inventive perspective-flipped dating sim The Crush House is being held back by a broken in-game economy; and reach a surprising consensus on recent body horror streaming hit Mouthwashing. We end as ever with our latest round of hyperfixations! Rebecca has been reading Jacqueline Wilson's Think Again, Rachel has a new reality TV obsession in The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, and Liam has gone further down the Resident Evil rabbit hole than even he ever expected to get with The Mercenaries 3D. Our music was written and performed by Ollie Newbury! Find him on Instagram at @newbsmusic. Meanwhile, you can find us at indieventurepodcast.co.uk or wherever you listen to podcasts.

Kevin is currently getting all sad in Omori, trying to get the Ultimate Keyblade in Kingdom Hearts 3 and is saving the universe with Trover in Trover Saves the Universe. Meanwhile Scott completed Hi-Fi Rush, tried the Diable 4 Beta, enjoyed MLB The Show 23 for some reason, tried the new courses in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, was welcomed to Castlevania in Dead Cells and became an old man and fell for the Wii U brick prank. Do Americans celebrate Easter? That’s the main question that we ask in this week’s episode, the first since our pre-Spring break. Ann was away, so instead of catching up on over six weeks’ worth of videogame news Ste told us what he did in Croatia, his new haircut, and what games are best to play in a hospital. Oh, he might also make a small announcement too. We didn’t have a Super-Special Guest in the studio, but we did have Bertil Hörberg on the Skype line. Unfortunately we found it very difficult to pin him down on how many videogames he has made, but fortunately he was very willing to tell us all about Mechstermination Force, which is Contra meets Shadow of the Colossus and is available now on the Switch. Bertil is the brains behind the excellent Gunman Clive so you know it’ll be a good game. We also found out who or what is the best replacement for a talk by Yu Suzuki, what game Ste is potentially the best in the world at, and work out once and for all which is the best out of Reddit and Twitter. See you in two weeks time! Hey everyone! It's a bit of a shorter show this week as we prepare for Bally to leave for Japan! We kick things off with what we've been playing and both of us have been loving the latest e-shop hidden gem, Mechstermination Force! If you remember Gunman Clive on 3DS, then you'll know this developer. It's and awesome boss fight game that we both really love. Nbz meanwhile has gone all fan translation with Dai Gyakuten Saiban, also known as The Great Ace Attorney, as the previously Japan only Ace Attorney game finally have an English version available. He recounts the differences between this new series and the past games and is loving it! After the break we dig into some of your e-mails including chat on what crazy crossovers Nintendo IP could have with other games inspired by Cadence of Hyrule, followed by dicussion of which Nintendo IP would sell the best if put on the other console platforms. We'll have a bonus episode next week that is one of our exclusive Patreon episodes and then will be back the week after that with the regular show! You can support us on Patreon - https://www.patreon.com/thisnintendolife, remember to send all your correspondence to our E-mail Address: ThisNintendoLife@gmail.com & Join our Discord: discord.gg/mC8wjBd

Day 71: Returning to a review of a Nintendo eShop game - I talk all about Gunman Clive and Gunman Clive 2, which are available on Wii U, 3DS, and Steam.

Last time on Nintendo Free Radio, Western 3DSs still had one analog, Telltale was the only company doing episodic adventure, and Persona 5 had no gameplay footage. Thankfully, all of those things have changed. For New Business, Stephen played a game we don't have a clean joke for in PSN flash sale victim Monster Monpiece, then threw on Strike Suit Zero in an attempt to cleanse himself. Donald went Western indie in more ways than one with Gunman Clive 2 which marked the last game he played on the 2DS, as the New 3DS arrived and there was much rejoicing (as well as Codename STEAM demo and brief Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate demo discussion). To wrap his segment, Donald gives good news about a good Nintendo system's games being playable on Wii U as he grabbed the download of Super Mario Galaxy 2 and returned to the sweet embrace of EAD Tokyo. Austen has been wasting his Wii U on a system that clearly can't stack up, but has the very void-infused Vita platformer Nihilumbra, and the clearly moneyhatted adventure game Life is Strange to fill in good game content. After a round of Now Posted on motorcycles (you have got to be ****ting me - Ed), a brief round of Whatcha Watchin' ensues. You won't like Stephen when he's angry, but you may like Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H. Austen has an update on Log Horizon and extended impressions of Thundercats (2011), while Donald shows that when you need legal advice, you Better Call Saul. The Feature this time 'round is a super-charged Lightning Round originally codenamed "Twenty Minutes of Hell". Topics include PAX South, JRPG Week, Nintendo's multimedia endeavors and somehow turning Marble Madness into a MOBA (as Mark Cerny cries out in agony). The Mushrooms include two sad farewells, a host pulling a Jeffersons and Nintendo's horrible precedents. We'd love to hear from you on anything somewhat on topic, so drop it below, emal us (nintendofreeradio@gmail.com) or send it to @nfrpodcast on your local fire-breathing Twitter machine. Also, if you would like a nice followup to the Wizard talk from Episode 50, the good Dr Metts recently broke down the musical career of former child star Jenny Lewis on Discover Music Project (http://www.crosstawk.com/newbusiness/2015/2/14/discover-music-project-episode-65.html) so plug in for an hour and a half of great music discussion. This podcast was recorded on February 15th and edited by Donald Theriault and Austen Parkin. All clips and music copyright their respective owners. Yes, we’re working on catching up on the podcast backlog.

Another fortnight, another podcast! This week Bally dons his helmet and starts pea shooting in the Capcom classic Mega Man 2! He liked the game, which is more than he can say for most NES titles. Both Bally and Nbz have been playing the demo for Codename S.T.E.A.M. and their ambivalence has been quelled by this meaty taste test, its pretty great! Nbz has also been playing the sequel to 2013's Gunman Clive, Gunman Clive 2! Moreover thanks to a kind listener he's played Middle Earth Shadow of Mordor on PC. This will be a long one, so expect more updates on it in the future. After the break Bally takes the hosting chair to discuss topics such as what we think the new gimmick will be in the upcoming Zelda Wii U game! Finally we close out the show with a news round up, including APEX 2015, Splatoon new details, and the Xenoblade Chronicles X direct! We really are spoiling you with our pod-guests these days. Hot-on-the-heels of Ex Machina's Alex Garland and Evolve's Phil Robb, we've now got games journalist-turned-screenwriter Gary Whitta joining Chris and Gav for an epic cast. Whitta started out in the games industry in the late 1980s before making the transition to film via The Book of Eli and Another Earth. For the last year he's been busy working in a galaxy far, far away, writing the first standalone movie in the new Star Wars cycle, which will be directed by Gareth ‘Godzilla' Edwards and hitting screens December 2016. Gary doesn't reveal much about the movie – bound as he is by the mother of all non-disclosure agreements – but he does talk about his love of The Empire Strikes Back, how the original trilogy inspired his generation of writers and filmmakers, and what working on this new movie has been like as a creative experience. Oh, and his failure in a Star Wars quiz many moons ago also gets a (somewhat unfair) mention. If that weren't enough, Gary offers his advice to aspiring screenwriters, talks about games as an art-form in the 21st Century, explains where's he's at with his adaptation of Mark Millar comic Starlight, tells an AMAZING story aboutFrank Darabont, and gives us the skinny on his forthcoming novel Abomination, which is available via pre-sale this Monday, February 9. Braking Bad spin-off Better Call Saul hits Netflix this week so the boys discuss their hopes and fears for the show, while the conversation about potential TV reboots rumbles on, with Star Trek, The Crystal Maze and Green Wing all getting a mention in reader feedback. Out this week includes games Gunman Clive 2, Game of Thrones Episode 2 and Evolve, while the big movie releases are Selma, Shaun the Sheep and Jupiter Ascending.

Aan bod komen o.a. 00:53:58 - Afsluiting

FEATURING: New Business is full of new games, as Gui plays the brand new 3DS remake of Ikachan and explains the uneven experience of The Cave on Wii U. Jon finally has his own brush with the Red Ring of Death and struggles with whether to replace his 360 before the inevitable successor launches this fall. Jonny gushes over Level 5's Ni No Kuni and also brings a few positive words about Nintendo Force and the Hyrule Historia coffee table book. James wraps it up with a slightly disappointed report on Gunman Clive, but the glorious demo for Fire Emblem Awakening erases any lingering negativity. For now.In the latter half, we finally catch up on Listener Mail with a trio of timely queries. This batch starts with a look at Nintendo's most inexplicable decisions, as a defense for the "no-duh" game announcements last week. Next, we take a hard look at the Earthbound situation, as the game is finally coming to Virtual Console in Japan -- does that mean it has a chance in the West, too? Localization is also the topic of the final email, as we consider whether more games could be released on digital services with subtitle-only translations.

A 3.5 Hour Podcast after Returning from the Christmas Break?! It must be the Will of Stein's Gate! For the first cast of the New Year, Nintendo Free Radio enforced their resolution by bringing on a forum guest for the whole show. Stephen, Austen and Donald are joined by Remus "RazorKid" Harris for a Longcat-Sized New Business. Remus brings the love for classic Carroll with Alice: Madness Returns, modern platforming in Rayman Origins, and the taste of flesh with ZombiiU. Donald picks up the baton of the undead with Glitch... Walking Dead (XBLA) and fires off his Christmas bounty before the unexpected golden shower of New Super Mario Bros 2. Austen goes to town with Eh-pic Meh-ckey 2 and gives us a Disaster: Day of Crisis update (bearrorist threat level: red) before visiting the butcher in adventure game/dating sim Pandora's Tower and dropping a Vita doubleshot of Little Big Planet and DJMax Technica Tune. Stephen ends the round by providing the Western interpretation of giant robots in MechWarrior Online, wiping out Danica Patrick in Sonic and All-Stars Racing Transformed and takes notes on EscapeVektor and Gunman Clive, before answering the most important question of all: What is this thing that took up the Vita's 15 minutes at Sony's E3 2012 show, the Wonderbook? If you survive past Now Posted, or became part of the undead in the process, the second half loads up on 80s and 90s nostalgia. Whatcha Watchin' opens with Remus's classic cartoon duo of Bobby's World and Akagi as well as touching base on 80s cartoons (cowabunga!), while Donald has the legend of Bo Jackson and survived Christmas at Ground Zero with the two good Home Alones and nerd blackface sitcom Big Bang Theory. Stephen boldly goes where nobody has gone before with Star Trek: The Next Generation and shows that sometime it's better to get money for nothing with Undercover Boss, while Austen goes Back In Time with Steins;Gate (yes, that spelling is correct) and doesn't Start The Fire with Shakugan no Shana Season 2 (tempting though it might be). An unexpectedly heated Feature Discussion springs from Remus's simple question: How has gaming changed for you since you were a kid? As usual, the Mushrooms provide the seventh course of this podcast feast, with hatred for GOTY selections and excessive hype balanced by a side of Christmas and film restoration love. You can send your feedback by email to nintendofreeradio@gmail.com, leave a comment here or hit the hosts on Twitter (@donaldmick, @cericme, @broodwars64 and the guest @remus.harris). We're always looking for volunteers for the fourth chair, so let one of the regulars know if you're interested! But we will warn you... a long cast is LONG. This show was edited by Austen Parkin and Stephen Shook. All music used under Fair Use permission. NOTE: After receiving feedback on the original version of this episode, we have made adjustments to the audio mix & replaced the old episode with this new one. We hope you enjoy it!
FEATURING: It's a short New Business as each person picks one game (or less) they've played this week: Gunman Clive, Liberation Maiden and the gorgeous Fire Emblem demo. This leaves plenty of time for the crew to sing the praises of their 5 favorite games of 2012 (and previous)! You are bound to be surprised!
We go pyro with Little Inferno, take flight with Chasing Aurora, and visit the sketchy west with Gunman Clive. Plus, we discuss Pokemon X & Y and put the Wii U's holiday sales numbers into perspective.
FEATURING: It's the glorious return of Jon Lindemann!... "Wait, who?" ask hundreds of people in unison. Now playing touches on Super Mario 3D Land, Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, Paper Mario: Sticker Star, Galaxy Saver ("wait, what?" ask hundreds of people in unison), To The Moon, Gunman Clive and Halo 4.Then we move on to a recap of 2012's terrible predictions, and unleash terrible 2013 predictions unto the world.
This week the Geekscapists are the stars of the show as I take on an avalanche of nonstop phone calls from the audience! I also respond to last week's feedback on the brand new format! Who got snubbed in today's Oscar nominations? Who should have been? Superior Spider-Man swings onto shelves and already seems like he doesn't want to stick around! Gunman Clive is the coolest, and cheapest, videogame around! Goodbye to the PS2! The changing trends and news from CES! PLUS! TV's Chris Gore calls in to talk Star Wars!
