The Economists' Hour is the biography of a revolution: The story of how economists who believed in the power and the glory of free markets transformed the business of government, the conduct of business and, as a result, the patterns of everyday life. In the four decades between 1969 and 2008, these economists played a leading role in reshaping taxation and public spending and clearing the way for globalization. They reshaped the government's approach to regulation, assigning a value to human life to determine which rules are worthwhile. Economists even convinced President Nixon to end military conscription. The United States was the epicenter of the intellectual ferment, but the embrace of markets was a global phenomenon, seizing the imagination of politicians in countries including the United Kingdom, Chile and New Zealand. This book is also a reckoning. The revolution failed to deliver on its central promise of increased prosperity. In the United States, growth has slowed in every successive decade since the 1960s. And the cost of the failure was steep. Policymakers traded well-paid jobs for low-cost electronics; the loss of work weakened the fabric of society and of democracy. Soaring inequality extends far beyond incomes: Life expectancy for less affluent Americans has declined in recent years. And the focus on efficiency has come at the expense of the future: Lower taxes instead of education and infrastructure; limited environmental regulation as oceans rise and California burns. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/pbliving/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/pbliving/support

Nick Raithel is the creator of the the 7-Hour Book is a system that allows you to get your own professionally-published book in just 7 hours. With NO work. Things you will learn in this episode: What is 7-Hour book? How to decide if writing a book is the best tactic in your marketing strategy? Factors considered when deciding that publishing a book is the best marketing channel Determine one marketing strategy in creating a book What does it mean when we are using our book for self defense? How is the seven hour book different and what makes it the best solution among others The 7-Hour book process includes structuring, guided interviews, and book creation What is the 7-Hour book? The 7-Hour book is a system that allows any entrepreneur to write their own professionally-published book while spending only 7 hours of their time on it. It helps entrepreneurs and others in business to share their stories and the ultimate way for them to share their insights is to publish a book. It finally provides entrepreneurs the recognition they deserve. How to decide if writing a book is the best tactic in your marketing strategy? Always start asking yourself the why questions. Consider all the other marketing strategies used by many- podcast, a YouTube channel, or Facebook ads and weigh on them and decide if publishing a book is the best marketing strategy that will work for you. Once you have decided and stirred from the other marketing channels, all the idea will just come to the surface and just believe in yourself that you are unique and has knowledge, insights, and perspectives that others don't have. Factors considered when deciding that publishing a book is the best marketing channel Figuring out the "why" of publishing a book. Figuring out the things you want to achieve through the book and will the book be helpful on achieving these things. For example, you want to reach a certain market who is more traditional based in terms of seeking information, then the book is the best tool to educate them with your business. Determine one marketing strategy in creating a book Bring in marketing partners to your book and having them provide some of the content, or giving them a shout out in your content. In that way, they will not only provide you with a content, but they also then have an interest in promoting the book and marketing the book when it's out. What does it mean when we are using our book for self defense? It means it is safeguarding and defending your time from a situation where a person if you provided them with your book ahead of time, you might have been able to educate them and help them to see for themselves whether or not it made sense to continue talking to you. It helps people get to know more about you, what you do and decide if connecting with you will help them. How is the seven hour book different and what makes it the best solution among others? It strips out time as an excuse to not get a book done. It will only require seven one hour sessions from the client which could be scheduled anytime. It comes from a marketing standpoint. The content of the book and how it is written comes from a business context that will draw your target market to your business. The 7-Hour book process includes structuring, guided interviews, and book creation Going over the book and segment each chapter of the book in a call. It is a 100% collaborative approach done in an interview style. Part of it is discussing ideas, asking questions that would essentially yield answers from the client's point of view and our writers take notes from these discussion and create a book from there. Multifamily Investing the RIGHT Way with Multifamily Attorney Charles Dobens
Nick Raithel is the creator of the 7-Hour Book. This proven system allows any real estate investor to get their own professionally-published book while spending only 7 hours of their time on it. There is so much uncertainty about the market at the moment that it’s become vital for real estate investors to set themselves apart from their competitors. How can writing a book differentiate us from other investors, and how should we structure a book that promotes us? Is there a ‘right’ time to share our stories and principles for success? On this episode, creator of The 7-Hour Book, Nick Raithel shares what the process entails. 3 Things We Learned Books boost credibilityBeing able to hand a book to potential sellers immediately gives us a layer of authenticity. Having a book shows our clients that we are serious about what we do. By having a published book, we can gain trust and build rapport much faster. Keep it simpleOur books should concentrate on 4 principles, and then offer some insight to our backgrounds. This keeps the content easy to process, and ensures the book stays focused. The insight to our personal lives helps the reader bond with us and shows our human side. Don’t wait - write it nowSo often, people wait to share the perfect idea. That’s not necessary. Rather than letting the search for perfect content stop us, we need to share what we do know and use well-known quotes and examples to back it up. In the current state of uncertainty in the market, we have to demonstrate to our potential clients that we are the most obvious choice. Writing a book gives us a chance to do that, as well as help us build emotional connections with our readers. The process doesn’t need to be difficult - as long as we keep it simple, we can get started right away and start building a great platform for ourselves. Guest Bio- Nick Raithel is the creator of The 7-Hour Book, a system designed to help entrepreneurs accelerate their success by writing a book that only takes 7 hours of their time. Nick is passionate about helping entrepreneurs get the recognition they deserve, without needing to worry about how long it will take. He firmly believes that everyone who has something to say should be given a platform. In this episode, Jim Oliver and Nick Raithel discuss: Writing books and creating wealth. Why writing a book can make you stand out from the crowd. Benefits of having your own book, including opportunities created from the book. The 7-hour book. Key Takeaways: A book can be a way to breakaway in your pursuit of wealth or in your business objective. Writing something that comes from your own background and keep it simple. You’re not trying to write Moby Dick or the masterpiece of your life. You’re trying to establish credibility and authority. Do the work once and it can be updated and repackaged as needed with current events and technology changes. "One of the big benefits that people get from this is that it provides them with a low pressure, no stress way to become referable and get their message out without having the hard call to action." — Nick Raithel Connect with Nick Raithel: Website: ContentCorps.net Connect with Jim Oliver: Facebook: CreateTailwind & Jim Oliver Website: CreateTailwind.com YouTube: createtailwind.com LinkedIn: Jim Oliver Show notes by Podcastologist: Chelsea Taylor-Sturkie Audio production by Turnkey Podcast Productions. Nick Raithel has a thing about ‘7’ – he hosts the podcast, 7 Rules For Real Estate Investing, and is also the creator of the 7-Hour Book. Both provide formulas in areas that are key to many high performers. On his real estate podcast, Nick interviews a broad spectrum of successful property investors to distill their best seven investment rules, so we thought we would flip the tables and get him to summarise the top seven rules for real estate investing from all of the guests on his podcast. While the 7-Hour Book is a proven system that allows you to get your own professionally published book, while spending only seven hours of your time to achieve it. Yes, you did read that right – just seven hours of your time. Now I can honestly say that writing and publishing my books The Freedom Formula and most recently Get Invested are the best things that I have ever done. Why? There’s a whole bunch of reasons: It helped clarify my thinking and better communicate what we do and how we do it. The books have created thought leadership, authority, credibility and respect in our industry The book allows me to get my unique message to many people at the same time and attract people who believe what we believe and educate them so they are ready for us to help them. The authority that flows from my books have created a multitude of media opportunities, speaking gigs My book has been the best business card I have ever had and it is the gift that just keeps on giving. A book is the ultimate way to share your insights and be recognised – it is an entry ticket to a much bigger game. Yet the issue is always finding the time to write it. Now my book The Freedom Formula took 18 months of blood, sweat and tears from woe to go and involved countless hours, late nights, weekends and writing ‘holiday’ sabbaticals to get it done – I was effectively out of our business for six months to make it happen. But if I had known that it could have been produced using Nick’s service with just seven hours of my time, then it would not have impacted on my role in the business and I still would have had book that I am proud of. Now I know that most of you are thinking ‘a book is not for me’, ‘I don’t know what I would write about’, ‘no-one would be interested’ and ‘I wouldn’t know where to start it is just too daunting’ – I felt the same initially but it is amazing what you know and take for granted that others would love to know – and a book is the perfect vehicle. So here is a great opportunity to hear the top seven rules property investing and learn how you can rocket your recognition by publishing your very own book in seven hours. Nick’s book recommendation: The War of Art by Steven Pressfield Get Invested is the podcast dedicated to time poor professionals who want to work less and live more. One of the best ways for us to build real wealth is to be more than just real estate agents, by also being entrepreneurs and brands. Books are one of the most effective ways for us to do that. How do books give us credibility and help us cut through the competition? How do we position ourselves and tell a story? What are some of the benefits that will come from writing a book? On this episode, I am joined by Nick Raithel, founder of 7 Hour Book, to talk about the value and impact of writing a book. A book is a business card you don’t throw away. -Nick Raithel 3 Things We Learned From This Episode Don’t underestimate the value of your expertise We all have expertise that we may take for granted, but that someone else would consider golden. If we want to write a book, we have to take stock of those things and start with what we already know. How books create the good kind of scarcity In economics, scarcity is a good thing. If we become the only person in our market with a book, we become scarce. That makes us someone people will want to work with. Furthermore, we will have a calling card for podcasts, and even television or print. How to “bake” ambassadors into your book One of the most overlooked ways to market a book is to bake other people into it. We can include people who have a large following (who are not our competitors) in the appendix of our books or resources. Essentially, it will give us book ambassadors, and they can promote it on their social media. There are many people in this business who have a book in them, but they just don’t know it. With the confidence to know that we have something of value on our hands, we can really create something that will give us a legacy. Nothing rivals a book when it comes to prestige, aura, and credentials. Guest Bio- Nick Raithel is the founder of The 7-Hour Book. He’s the creator of Content Corps, and he helps expert investors like you write and sell their own books. Think about it – a book can be your own personal business card. Clients are more likely to trust an investor who’s published a book or two, and you’ll establish yourself as an authority in real estate investment just by sharing what you already know about this business. Seriously consider what writing a book could mean for you and if it could truly benefit your business plan. If you’re interested in writing a book, take a look at Nick’s process at Content Corps. You can change your dinner reservation at the last minute without facing the wrath of an angry maitre d'. You can even write an authoritative business book that raises your brand's profile without having to dedicate early mornings, late nights, and weekends for the next 12 months to the process. In this episode of the Small Marketing Teams podcast, I have a conversation with Nick Raithel, creator of The 7 Hour Book. He highlights how a book differentiates you from others in your market and how modern options for producing a book have changed the game for smart companies. I kick off the session with a pitch to spend more time away from your computer to think clearly about how to grow your business. In this episode, I'll also share how I increased webinar registrations without reinventing the wheel each month. 24 Hour Book stores are rare sight in this digital age, but Beijing is now home to one of them. The Beijing Sanlian Taofen bookstore is now first official book store to open in Beijing. Sanlian Taofen bookstore is just north of Dongsi in the Meishuguan area. It offers a relatively comprehensive selection of books -- particularly those dealing with philosophy and art. The store also organizes occasional lectures and has a good magazine selection. Most of the there books are in Chinese, but a decent selection of English titles and translations are available as well. I decided to pop down to the Sanlian Taofen book store and mingle with Beijing's bookworms. I have just arrived at the Sanlian book store in Dongsi, when I was standing outside the building it looked tiny. I thought it was going to be really small inside because the building does not look very grand from the outside. But there are actually three floors in here so it is bigger than I expected. I am at the first floor now. They have got more than just books here. I am looking at wide collection of books, magazines and Music CD's. Their music collection includes the soundtrack for Alice in Wonderland, Alan Netrobeko, Katherine Jenkins, and in terms of Chinese music, they have much CDs such as Forever and loss of culture. I have not really been to a record sale in China so it is nice to see what is on sale and what is popular here. In terms of books on the first floor it is a bit like a travel shop. I can see a guide to America and a book about London, I would love to have a read of that book and see how accurate it actually is. The second floor of the Sanlian book store offers a quality selection of artist biographies, books on painting, calligraphy, photography, sketching, sculpture, architecture, graphics, fashion, home and furniture design, as well as comic books. Floor number two also houses a small cafe with a number of tables and couches to lounge in alongside windows that line the wall. It is very quiet here; when I went to the Wangfujing Book store it had a very lively atmosphere. The first floor does feel very casual. I think I am going to go down to the second floor and see what they have got on offer. Now I am at the lower floor of the books store. There are just books here. I can see the Language section, the Literature section and the Arts Section. There is a lot more heavy reading on this floor. I wish I could read, no I am joking I can read, moderately well. Because the book store open recently I did think it would be a bit more lively and there would be a few more people here, it does seem like all the people here are serious readers. So it is a bit quieter. I am now looking an auto biographies by foreign writers. Let's see what they have got, there is channel, playboy, a book about France. I am just going to talk to this gentleman and see if he can tell me a bit more about the book store. "This book store is very quiet but it should be quiet, it is a book store! San Lian is a good book store; it is very famous and has a strong history. It is an old book store and is very traditional. It is the only book store of its kind in Beijing." So, Wow, this is a really hardcore bookstore; this is not commercial. As soon as you get to the lower floor the atmosphere is really serious. It reminds me a bit of the book store I used to go when I was a student and I really needed to find strong references for my work. The general atmosphere, it is not a leisure center; it is a place where people come to seriously read. Reflecting back on my experience at the Sanlian Taofen bookstore it was not as exciting an experience as I first anticipated. This maybe because I didn't attend the establishment at the stroke of midnight. It was still a great experience for people who want to be on their own and immerse themselves into a book. I would definitely go to the Sanlian Taofen bookstore if I wanted to relieve myself from the pressures of the world.
