A bunch of first issues this week, so we skipped the news and got right to readin'. This week we speculate on Avengers Armageddon while reading a Wolverine series lead-in by Chip Zdarsky. This week on Bronze and Modern Gods, the comic market delivers another round of surprises, from instant speculation heat to Golden Age auction drama.A brand-new Image Comics debut, White Sky #1, is already selling for multiples of cover price just days after release. Is this real demand, market momentum…or another short-term spec spike?Meanwhile, a high-grade copy of Captain America's Weird Tales #74 is currently climbing at auction - already reaching eye-opening numbers with bidding still underway. But is it REALLY a 7.5?

Recorded live at Cincy Comic Con in September 2014, this panel captures Matt Fraction and Chip Zdarsky at the height of their breakout Image Comics hit Sex Criminals, a book that smashed expectations by blending raunchy comedy, emotional honesty, and high-concept crime storytelling.Fraction and Zdarsky dig into how Sex Criminals came together, why Image was the perfect home for a book this personal (and this weird), and how humor became a Trojan horse for deeper conversations about intimacy, shame, and connection. It's an unfiltered, funny, and thoughtful discussion about creative trust, collaboration, and what happens when a comic refuses to play by anyone else's rules. With Sex Criminals now officially greenlit as a new television series for Amazon Prime Video, this panel feels even more essential, a snapshot of the moment when a risky, deeply human comic proved it could punch through the medium and reach far beyond it.

This week on Fantastic Forum, we are diving into satire and the cost of perfection across comics and television. First up is Wonder Man on Disney+, Marvel's latest live action series spotlighting one of the publisher's lesser known characters, Wonder Man. Starring Yahya Abdul Mateen II as Simon Williams, the show explores fame, identity, and heroism through the lens of a reluctant super powered actor. We are talking about how Wonder Man fits into the larger Marvel landscape and whether this offbeat corner of the universe brings something genuinely new to the table. Then we turn to The Beauty, the Image Comics series created by Jeremy Haun and Jason A. Hurley. Set in a world where physical perfection can be achieved through a mysterious and contagious condition, the series blends crime, science fiction, and social commentary to examine obsession, vanity, and the hidden cost of looking flawless. Finally, we discuss The Beauty television adaptation on Hulu and what it means to translate this provocative concept from the page to the screen. We break down the premise, expectations, and whether the series can captures the spirit of the source material. Jeremy Haun joins Word Balloon for a timely, wide-ranging conversation about creator ownership, publishing independence, and the moment The Beauty is having right now. With The Beauty debuting this week as an FX/Hulu television series produced by Ryan Murphy, Jeremy breaks down how the show translates his original Image Comics series to the screen, what stayed true, what changed, and why those differences actually matter. It's an honest look at adaptation, collaboration, and letting a story evolve without losing its core. From there, the conversation shifts to the launch of Ignition Press: why Jeremy helped build a new publisher, what gaps he sees in the current comics landscape, and how Ignition plans to support creator-owned projects from concept to long-term success. Today Ernie and Robo talk about some recent interactions on social media that prove a lot of you don't really pay attention when watching movies.
Zander Cannon has renewed a lot of faith in single issue comics with Sleep an 8 issue limited series through Image Comics. I've managed to review each episode on my Youtube Channel because the entire story has kept me in suspense. We've gone 7 parts into this story without actually seeing what Jonathan Reason becomes when he goes to sleep. Destruction, Murder, Conspiracy, and all out mystery are what makes this a great Horror story. This small town reminiscent to Zander's remote college town in the middle of Iowa paints a portrait of how things can go silent in a small town when you don't fit and everything is kept a secret. Zander reveals that this final issue will have 3 different art styles as opposed to what we've come to know from the series with its Black, White, and Grey scaled construction with prominent singular Red on particular objects through every page. Zander also gives me a glimpse at life after the end of Sleep and what projects are to come.Written and Artwork by Zander CannonSupport this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/the-faqs-project-hosted-by-james-grandmaster-faqs-boyce/donations
