The Rum & Regret team is back after the Super Bowl to talk about their favorite commercials. We also talk about new Marvel Trailers & a Non spoilerly look at Nosferatu.
Marvel gave us a lot to talk about this week. We are continuing talking about Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man and what's going on with that show. Plus they gave us two trailers to talk about for Thunderbolts* during the Super Bowl, and Fantastic Four earlier in the week. What did we take from those two trailers and what stood out to us from them. Plus news and rumors around castings, upcoming shows and movies, and our last second thoughts for Captain America: Brave New World. Thanks so much for listening. We hope that you are enjoying the podcast. If you are, please share it with your friends. Leave a rating and reivew and subscribe as well. All of those things help the podcast continue to grow. Join Frank, Squeaks, and Jonathan as they explore the latest updates from the geek universe. This episode covers the newly revealed Switch 2, a review of the Disney+ series Skeleton Crew, and an in-depth discussion about the Daredevil: Born Again trailer. The team debates Magneto vs. Static Shock in a fun “versus” segment and speculates on the future of Star Wars spinoffs. Whether you're a hardcore gamer, comic book fan, or Star Wars enthusiast, there's something here for everyone! Timestamps: 00:00 - Introduction and team roundup 00:37 - Magneto vs. Static Shock: Who Wins? 03:15 - Switch 2: Initial impressions and specs discussion 12:30 - Daredevil: Born Again trailer breakdown 25:30 - Vision Series Speculation and MCU updates 29:40 - Skeleton Crew review and Star Wars discussion 39:10 - Fun debate: Dream special edition consoles and spinoff ideas Takeaways: Magneto's versatility and power make him a strong contender against Static Shock, though the fight would be close. The Switch 2's updated design and rumored specs bring excitement, but questions remain about third-party game support. Daredevil: Born Again promises comic accuracy and intense storytelling, with fan-favorite characters returning. Skeleton Crew combines nostalgia and adventure with a well-crafted story that feels like an 80s sci-fi classic. Star Wars storytelling benefits when it focuses on smaller, character-driven adventures rather than galaxy-changing stakes. Quotes: "Magneto could use his abilities to manipulate physical objects outside of what both of them control." "Switch 2 feels like a more mature version of the original—slicker and built for a wider audience." "Sometimes the best Star Wars stories are about simple adventures, not galaxy-altering events." If all this awesome Marvel news wasn't enough, A bunch of info on new Star Wars projects was announced earlier this week, such as a movie called Rogue Squadron, a Rogue One spinoff series titled Andor, the return of Hayden Christensen in the Obi-Wan Kenobi series, and much more things that I can't list in this description because you'd probably be sitting here for a while. Also, our dad Ryan L. Higgins joins us for Tales From the Dollar Bin.
Whaaats up everyone and welcome to episode 225 of The Chumpcast! We've made the executive decision to replace Mark with someone who actually knows about Star Wars, comic books, and specifically DC properties. We think you'll be happy with the decision. Also, Joe Mankey Manganiello is a crazy guy in Archenemy. TIMESTAMPS 0:50 – A very warm welcome for Elise the Scourge of Carpathia 3:45 – Cyberpunk 2077 has fully stolen our free time, and we're cool with that 7:45 – There are rumors circulating that might make DC fans extremely angry 11:15 – Parts of being a hobo might actually be kinda….cool? 12:00 – TRAILERS! A salacious and seductive chicken-based love triangle, Nobody gives us Bob Odenkirk as a John Wick wannabe, and Disney crushing us with Star Wars and Marvel Trailers 35:10 – All of the Sam Raimi Spider-Man actors are reportedly returning for the next Tom Holland reprisal, plus possibly Charlie Cox's Daredevil 38:55 – A Toy Story movie, but subtract the toys and add in Chris Evans 43:25 – Let's take exactly 15 seconds to recognize that FX is bringing us an Alien show 43:40 – Disney has announced Rangers of the New Republic and Ahsoka Tano live-action series 47:25 - Hayden Christensen is back, baby! He doesn't like sand. It's all coarse and rough and irritating, just like Star Wars fans 48:05 – Patty Jenkins of Wonder Woman fame will direct Rogue Squadron, the next Star Wars theatrical release 50:35 – Marvel is once again ready to hurt us with another Fantastic Four movie 53:25 – This is where we threw the remainder of the Disney/Marvel/Star Wars news because the host got tired of making them separate stories 56:45 – BEST MAN ALIVE! Featuring possible involuntary erections, promises of vaccine distribution for mind control, and the aforementioned Harden Christensen 1:03:55 – MOVIE REVIEW! Archenemy starring Joe Manganiello and Glenn Howerton 1:17:30 – RECOMMENDATIONS! Always Sunny gets a 4 season extension, called Crossover by Donnie Cates, and The Scumbag by Rick Remender If you're looking for merch, you can check out our website, thechumpcast.com You can also support us by using our Amazon Affiliate link, thechumpcast.com/amazon.If you like us, tell a friend! On this episode of the Fanboy Garage, We unpack our thoughts around the Captain Marvel and Avengers: EndGame trailers before speculating about the release of the Spider-Man: Far From Home trailer, Black Panther's Golden Globe nomination and the cancellation of Netflix's Daredevil. From there, we jump into the other universe to talk DC; specifically, Aquaman and it's dominating presence in China and the implications that might have on the U.S. market. In the conversation, we discuss the new path for the DCU and the wave of expected optimism for the film and franchise that is on the horizon. To close, we answer listener questions; tackling our thoughts on the box office success of Aquaman, movies we're most excited to see as we close out the year, and is Henry Cavill in or out with Amy Adams exciting the DCU. We close the show with a simple snap turning the world to ash! Don't forget to keep the conversation going by tweeting us @TheFanboyGarage or stalk our pictures on the gram at The Fanboy Garage. Or did the movies that helped raise us actually matter? Did they matter then? Do they matter now? And therefore, do we matter? There’s a lot on the line with this review of the 1964 (classic?) Mary Poppins. It’s a retrospective we’ve both long dreaded, but with Mary Poppins Returns a week away, it’s a necessary evil. The Mikes get rowdy in this one. Our review follows the usual format of our Oscar Sprint Profiles, meaning there’s a full non-spoiler review that precedes the spoiler warning dance music to highlight when those will be coming. Though the spoiler section is also when the shit will hit the fan. So if ever you’re gonna make sure and watch a film that you haven’t seen just so you can listen to our show, this might be the one. We often dive back into Movie History with retrospectives. Our month of Christmas Movie reviews began with The Muppet Christmas Carol, and we’ll get you National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation soon enough. November had us go back to the original Suspiria before we reviewed the Luca Guadagnino remake. And if you’re new to MMO, perhaps our crowning achievement on the podcast, we reviewed the entire Halloween slasher franchise leading up to the 2018 Blumhouse film. We’ve also reviewed the Mission: Impossible movies, Marvel Cinematic Universe, the Conjuring films, and a plethora of Oscar categories from the Titanic’s 97’ Best Picture to the Godfather’s 74’ Best Actor to thirteen Best Original Song halfisodes, one of which covered the Oscar win from “Chim chim cheree” from the Sherman Brothers in this film, Mary Poppins! So yeah, we retrospect. What did you think of this episode? Should you dare rewatch it yourself? Or will you trust us? DID WE GO TOO FAR THIS TIME? We want to know your thoughts. We’re Mike, Mike, and Oscar on Instagram, Facebook, Reddit, and Gmail. We are @MMandOscar on Twitter, and do send us your #SixDegreesOfMMO responses to our latest challenge. You’ve already landed some great ones. Do please keep them coming, and we’ll read a bunch on next Monday’s MMO Weekly. We’ve been covering a bunch of the breaking news lately with the Golden Globes, Marvel Trailers, & Kevin Hart debacle. So do stay tuned for a bunch of movie reviews. Our schedule is loaded with more awards season contenders, and we’ll keep them coming your way through the holidays. When reality sucks, keep watching movies with us. We’re Mike, Mike, and Oscar!
