Send us Fan MailYour body can be ready, and you can still get humbled by a borrowed bike, unfamiliar gears, and one tiny detail you forgot to practice. I'm Leonilla Campos, a registered dietitian and founder of Field by Leo, and I'm breaking down my sprint triathlon experience from start to finish: what went well, what surprised me, and what I would absolutely do differently next time.I share the backstory of my first triathlon seven years ago, why swimming felt like the scariest part, and how returning to the sport as a busy parent changes the whole mental game. You'll hear the real race-day stuff people skip: pre-start anxiety, counting pool laps, scrambling through transitions, and that brutal moment when you step off the bike and your legs feel like rocks. We also get into endurance nutrition and triathlon fueling from a plant-based angle. I explain why I increased carbohydrates to support training and glycogen recovery, what foods helped me feel better in workouts, and how I think about vegan protein sources like tofu and shakes while still keeping meals balanced. If you're curious about sprint triathlon training, beginner triathlon tips, bike fit basics, or building big goals toward an Olympic triathlon and an Ironman, this one will give you an honest blueprint. How she and her husband navigated working together in business and marriage — learning to balance strengths, delegate, and grow as a team. The role of honesty and authenticity in marketing — why showing up as yourself (accents, ballcaps, lake life, and all) attracts the right clients. The power of video and podcasting for personal brand building and filtering in the right clients while filtering out the wrong ones. Gaby's insights on investing, making mistakes, and using those lessons to guide and inspire clients … and much more                                       About Gaby has been involved in Austin's real estate since 2002 with the purchase of her first home and first renovation. Since then, Gaby has bought and sold many properties (for herself and for her clients). Through her personal transactions alone, Gaby has experienced more than your average professional agent. She has invested in Single Family home rentals, condos, short-term rentals (Airbnb), renovated homes, flipped properties, owner-financed properties, invested through Self Directed IRA - nothing frightens her in the real estate investment world. Prior to joining her husband to create The Proctor Team, Gaby had a very successful career at one of the biggest local media stations in Austin. Starting as a part-time promotions support staff, she made her way up to Promotions Director before taking the leap over to the sales team. Once there, Gaby made quick connections and, through pure hard work and dedication to her clients, she built a very strong clientele and became the Top Producing Account Executive within her 2nd year. That is a position that Gaby not only never gave up, but dominated for the next 6 years as she became one of the most well-known, loved, and respected sales reps in the industry. Once she felt she had peaked in that business, and watched her husband shine in the other industry she has such a passion for, she jumped over to Realty Austin and helped The Proctor Team achieve the Diamond Club ($10+ Million producers) with Realty Austin every year since she joined. Gaby strives to make herself available to her clients, even as a busy mom of 3. Whether you are new to real estate or an experienced buyer or seller, Gaby is committed to serving you with the highest levels of integrity, ethics, and quality of service. Outside of Real Estate, Gaby is involved in many philanthropic projects, including Habitat for Humanity & Community First Village. We cover beginner to advanced cues, cadence targets, ground contact time, uphill/downhill technique, shoe selection vs. trends, when (and how) to use insoles, year-round strength training, and smart warm-up/cool-down routines. If your watch is spitting out numbers and you're not sure which ones matter—or you want fewer niggles and more speed—this one's for you. Key takeaways:Start simple: build consistency (2–3x/week), try a run-walk approach, progress gradually. Cadence sweet spot: generally ~160–180 spm; use music or a metronome to train it. Ground contact time: aim roughly ~0.21–0.31 sec; shorter = less braking & stress. Hills: up = shorter, quicker steps; down = avoid hard braking; control with choppy steps if needed. Shoes: fit first (width & length); don't chase trends; rotate models; use insoles as a tool, not a crutch. Strength all year (free weights, single-leg control) to prevent common hip/knee/foot issues. Always warm up (5+ min, dynamic) and cool down to speed recovery.Send us a text Support the show
