Host Chris Jennings is joined by Jay Anglin, Great Lakes Region migration editor for ducks.org, and the two discuss the impacts of the most recent winter storm which barreled into the Great Lakes last week. As the season's closed across many Great Lakes states, the region remained very mild, leaving ducks and geese to hold tight. The recent winter storm sent them packing from Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, northern Indiana and Illinois. With a quick thaw in the short-term forecast, hunters who hunt in areas where the seasons are still open, may be in for a strong finish.www.ducks.org/DUPodcast

Consumer behavior continues to change in the wake of the pandemic. One trend found by 6 River Systems is that consumers demand “omnichannel” retail experiences that are consistent across channels. How companies use their supply chains can either be the key to their success or the starting point to their downfall. But like so many other corporate initiatives, leaders have to recognize the potential of and invest in the futures of the people in the supply chain as much as the chain itself. Jason MacIver is the Vice President of Services Procurement at Dell Technologies and one of the many great new connections the Supply Chain Now team made at the Reverse Logistics Association annual conference in Las Vegas. His team touches every line of business Dell has, and they regularly get the opportunity to impact the customer experience and corporate sustainability as well. In this episode, Jason speaks with host Scott Luton about: • How he is trying to upskill his team to be able to take advantage of the benefits of ‘hyper automation' • Using data science to build up the level of transparency provided to Dell customers • Why talent is going to be the advantage that ‘Wins the West' Additional Links & Resources: Learn more about Supply Chain Now:https://supplychainnow.com/program/supply-chain-now ( https://supplychainnow.com/program/supply-chain-now) Subscribe to Supply Chain Now and all other Supply Chain Now programs:https://supplychainnow.com/subscribe ( https://supplychainnow.com/subscribe) Check out the 2022 Supply Chain and Procurement Awards: https://supplychainprocurementawards.com/ (https://supplychainprocurementawards.com/) Meet with 6 River Systems at Modex: https://bit.ly/3tkmcsa (https://bit.ly/3tkmcsa) Join 6 River Systems' interactive site tour at Verte on March 30th: https://bit.ly/3vl0d7k (https://bit.ly/3vl0d7k) Global Upstate Conference on International Business and Foreign Affairs: https://upstateinternational.org/global-upstate-conference/ (https://upstateinternational.org/global-upstate-conference/) This episode was hosted by Scott Luton. When tough times hit, some companies and leaders fold and others find the silver lining. Maintaining focus on what matters most makes it possible to seize opportunities that others don't even see and ensure that the company and their employees stay intact. Holly Gotfredson is the President and Owner of American Metal Craft, Inc. an architectural metal manufacturing firm started by her father-in-law in 1986, and Finishing Dynamics, LLC, a provider of coatings for metal products. In 2010, Holly made the decision to keep them as two companies but move them into the same building - putting engineering, fabrication, and finishing all under one roof. Although Holly never would have expected to be in the role she holds today, especially given her background in art history, she relishes the opportunity to be a creative and effective brand ambassador. In this episode, Holly speaks with co-hosts Allison Giddens and Scott Luton about: • How the pressure of the recession in 2008 led to them combining the companies in 2010 – and why this move created more value for their team and their clients • Her journey from periodic support through marketing to being the president and owner of both companies • The new innovations that she and her teams are experimenting with to keep pushing forward and building on their existing advantage Additional Links and Resources: Learn more about Supply Chain Now:https://supplychainnow.com/program/supply-chain-now ( https://supplychainnow.com/program/supply-chain-now) Subscribe to Supply Chain Now and all other Supply Chain Now programs:https://supplychainnow.com/subscribe ( https://supplychainnow.com/subscribe) Check out the 2022 Supply Chain and Procurement Awards: https://supplychainprocurementawards.com/ (https://supplychainprocurementawards.com/) Meet with 6 River Systems at Modex: https://bit.ly/3tkmcsa (https://bit.ly/3tkmcsa) Join 6 River Systems' interactive site tour at Verte on March 30th: https://bit.ly/3vl0d7k (https://bit.ly/3vl0d7k) Global Upstate Conference on International Business and Foreign Affairs: https://upstateinternational.org/global-upstate-conference/ (https://upstateinternational.org/global-upstate-conference/) This episode was hosted by Scott Luton and Allison Giddens. Everyone knows what leadership is – or at least they think they do. But the meaning of this word varies by time, place, and circumstances, as do our expectations of those who lead us. But while it may not always mean the same thing, we are all aware of it when we have the opportunity to work with a world-class leader. The experience is unforgettable. Jenny Froome is the COO at SAPICS and a good friend of Supply Chain Now, and Adebayo Adeleke with Supply Chain Africa is a dynamic leader with global insights on a wide array of issues – including leadership. He is also a U.S. Army Veteran with deep supply chain expertise. They are both eager to celebrate the achievements and examples of leadership coming out of supply chains in Africa. In this episode, produced with a Supply Chain Now livestream audience, Adebayo and Jenny join host Scott Luton to share their perspective on a range of timely topics: • The leadership requirements for supply chain in 2022, and where in the world we can look for inspiration • Why it is important for supply chain professionals and organizations to be spontaneous when the moment seems right • What we can look forward to from this year's Africa Supply Chain Excellence Awards (ASCEA) Learn more about Supply Chain Now:https://supplychainnow.com/program/supply-chain-now ( https://supplychainnow.com/program/supply-chain-now) Subscribe to Supply Chain Now and all other Supply Chain Now programs:https://supplychainnow.com/subscribe ( https://supplychainnow.com/subscribe) Check out the 2022 Supply Chain and Procurement Awards: https://supplychainprocurementawards.com/ (https://supplychainprocurementawards.com/) Meet with 6 River Systems at Modex: https://bit.ly/3tkmcsa (https://bit.ly/3tkmcsa) Join 6 River Systems' interactive site tour at Verte on March 30th: https://bit.ly/3vl0d7k (https://bit.ly/3vl0d7k) Global Upstate Conference on International Business and Foreign Affairs: https://upstateinternational.org/global-upstate-conference/ (https://upstateinternational.org/global-upstate-conference/) This episode was hosted by Scott Luton. Although most of the world has been shocked and saddened to see the images and hear the news coming out of Ukraine, this conflict was not entirely unexpected. Organizations like Gartner have been researching supply chains and geopolitics for a long time, and their predictions have turned out to be eerily accurate. Diplomats, governing bodies, heads of major corporations, and even consumers are now trying to figure out where the Russia-Ukraine conflict will head next and how it will impact global systems in the short and longer-term. In this livestream-based episode, hosts Scott Luton and Enrique Alvarez are joined by Gartner's Koray Kose and EALgreen's Claudia Freed to help us all better understand how Russia's invasion of Ukraine will impact global supply chains, what we should expect moving forward, and how we can support Ukrainians in need. • The role that financial and banking institutions are playing in conjunction with international rulings to increase downward pressure on Russia's currency • Concerns about how poor people living in Russia, who have no say in this conflict, are being affected today and whether they will need humanitarian aid in the future • How the impact of the Russian-Ukraine conflict is testing what we thought global supply chains had learned from the COVID-19 pandemic Learn more about Supply Chain Now:https://supplychainnow.com/program/supply-chain-now ( https://supplychainnow.com/program/supply-chain-now) Subscribe to Supply Chain Now and all other Supply Chain Now programs:https://supplychainnow.com/subscribe ( https://supplychainnow.com/subscribe) Check out the 2022 Supply Chain and Procurement Awards: https://supplychainprocurementawards.com/ (https://supplychainprocurementawards.com/) Meet with 6 River Systems at Modex: https://bit.ly/3tkmcsa (https://bit.ly/3tkmcsa) Join 6 River Systems' interactive site tour at Verte on March 30th: https://bit.ly/3vl0d7k (https://bit.ly/3vl0d7k) Global Upstate Conference on International Business and Foreign Affairs: https://upstateinternational.org/global-upstate-conference/ (https://upstateinternational.org/global-upstate-conference/) This episode was hosted by Scott Luton and Enrique Alvarez. Under ‘normal' circumstances, optimizing back-office business activities such as paying bills, processing orders, and collecting cash isn't at the top of the average organization's priority list. But as we're finding out now, no company is immune from the effects of an economic downturn. Many cash-compromised CFOs and COOs have rightfully turned their attention toward minimizing the negative impact of supply chain disruptions on working capital. With economic volatility expected to continue or get worse, the reality for today's companies is clear. This is either the moment to seize or sustain competitive advantage – not doing so risks damaging the financial health of the organization. In this livestream-based episode, hosts Scott Luton and Greg White were joined by Dan Reeve, Vikas Shah, and Dr. Morgen Swink to discuss how business leaders are combatting rising prices and supply chain pressures to boost cash flow and ensure business resilience, no matter what comes next. • Why companies need to be aware of the risk factors associated with all of their suppliers – and their large customers as well • What kind of a cash position most companies are in currently, and how they are planning to manage their working capital going forward given the current uncertainty in most markets • How a company's supplier payment strategy and platform is critical to building and maintaining strategic supplier relationships Additional Links & Resources: Learn more about Supply Chain Now:https://supplychainnow.com/program/supply-chain-now ( https://supplychainnow.com/program/supply-chain-now) Subscribe to Supply Chain Now and all other Supply Chain Now programs:https://supplychainnow.com/subscribe ( https://supplychainnow.com/subscribe) Check out the 2022 Supply Chain and Procurement Awards: https://supplychainprocurementawards.com/ (https://supplychainprocurementawards.com/) Supply Chain Automation: Optimizing Cash Flow in the Age of Uncertainty: https://bit.ly/3vQvrU7 (https://bit.ly/3vQvrU7) Meet with 6 River Systems at Modex: https://bit.ly/3tkmcsa (https://bit.ly/3tkmcsa) Join 6 River Systems' interactive site tour at Verte on March 30th: https://bit.ly/3vl0d7k (https://bit.ly/3vl0d7k) Global Upstate Conference on International Business and Foreign Affairs: https://upstateinternational.org/global-upstate-conference/ (https://upstateinternational.org/global-upstate-conference/) This episode was hosted by Scott Luton and Greg White. There are many dedicated Veterans' advocates out there, and we've had the opportunity to interview many here on Veteran Voices, but very few of them made national news for their efforts at age 12. Rob Bergquist is the Co-Founder and Director at Cell Phones For Soldiers, a nonprofit that provides cost-free communication tools to active-duty military members and low-income veterans via responsibly recycling cell phones and other electronic devices. He and his sister, who was only 13 at the time, were featured in a story on CBS Nightly News in 2004. They seized the momentum and never looked back – until the Department of Defense called and told them to ‘cease and desist.' Rob joined Veteran Voices host Scott Luton to share the Cellphones For Soldiers backstory and mission: • How he went from the Pentagon sending him back to square one to providing over 400 million minutes' worth of airtime to service members • The shift in need they are seeing with less service members deployed internationally, and how they are evolving in response • What Rob and his team observed about giving during the pandemic Additional Links & Resources: Learn more about Supply Chain Now:https://supplychainnow.com/program/supply-chain-now ( https://supplychainnow.com/program/supply-chain-now) Subscribe to Supply Chain Now and all other Supply Chain Now programs:https://supplychainnow.com/subscribe ( https://supplychainnow.com/subscribe) Check out the 2022 Supply Chain and Procurement Awards: https://supplychainprocurementawards.com/ (https://supplychainprocurementawards.com/) Download the U.S. Bank 2021 Q4 Freight Payment Index: https://bit.ly/3pwmWKC (https://bit.ly/3pwmWKC) Turvo's Logistics Success Playbook: https://info.turvo.com/logistics-success-playbook (https://info.turvo.com/logistics-success-playbook) The Tecsys “Warehouse Automation Education Series”: https://infohub.tecsys.com/warehouse-automation-series (https://infohub.tecsys.com/warehouse-automation-series) Meet with 6 River Systems at Modex: https://bit.ly/3tkmcsa (https://bit.ly/3tkmcsa) Join 6 River Systems' interactive site tour at Verte on March 30th: https://bit.ly/3vl0d7k (https://bit.ly/3vl0d7k) This episode was hosted by Scott Luton. He is responsible for Gartner's annual Top 25 Supply Chain ranking and joins Supply Chain Now on a monthly basis to discuss the latest in retail supply chains from an analyst's perspective. As a girls' basketball coach, Mike knows the sport inside and out, and we all know he is an expert on all things supply chain. So we decided to put the two together and see if Mike can provide some insights on the ‘bracket busters' facing the supply chain world (and pick up a tip or two for our March Madness brackets as well!). In this episode, which was created as part of a Supply Chain Now livestream, Mike shares his winning advice with co-hosts Greg White and Kelly Barner: • An example of a supply chain strategy that looked “final four” but went out in the first round • The supply chain philosophies and approaches that best weathered the storms of the last two years • How to know when to make a change in the face of disruption and when to hold tight and follow the plan • An early peek at the how the companies being evaluated for this year's Gartner Supply Chain Top 25 are handling macro events Additional Links & Resources: Learn more about Supply Chain Now:https://supplychainnow.com/program/supply-chain-now ( https://supplychainnow.com/program/supply-chain-now) Subscribe to Supply Chain Now and all other Supply Chain Now programs:https://supplychainnow.com/subscribe ( https://supplychainnow.com/subscribe) Check out the 2022 Supply Chain and Procurement Awards: https://supplychainprocurementawards.com/ (https://supplychainprocurementawards.com/) Download the U.S. Bank 2021 Q4 Freight Payment Index: https://bit.ly/3pwmWKC (https://bit.ly/3pwmWKC) Turvo's Logistics Success Playbook: https://info.turvo.com/logistics-success-playbook (https://info.turvo.com/logistics-success-playbook) The Tecsys “Warehouse Automation Education Series”: https://infohub.tecsys.com/warehouse-automation-series (https://infohub.tecsys.com/warehouse-automation-series) Meet with 6 River Systems at Modex: https://bit.ly/3tkmcsa (https://bit.ly/3tkmcsa) Join 6 River Systems' interactive site tour at Verte on March 30th: https://bit.ly/3vl0d7k (https://bit.ly/3vl0d7k) This episode was hosted by Kelly Barner and Greg White. This show focuses on some of the leading stories from global supply chain and global business, always with special guests – the most important of which is the live audience!
