As geopolitical shifts and supply chain crises redefine the global economy, bespoke rug makers and interior designers are finding new ways to maintain craftsmanship and client trust. This conversation with Ayub Ansari explores how California Design Living, a four-generation family business, is adapting to unprecedented challenges. From the sudden impact of 50% import tariffs to soaring air freight costs and labor shifts in India, the episode delves into the delicate balance between maintaining centuries-old artisanal traditions and surviving a volatile modern market. Economic Volatility & Tariffs: Recent years have seen dramatic shifts in import policies, including sudden 50% tariffs that have forced companies to move from fixed pricing to more transparent, range-based quotes for clients. The High Cost of Logistics: Supply chain disruptions and fuel surcharges have ballooned shipping costs, with some air freight quotes nearly doubling overnight. Preserving Artisanal Heritage: The industry faces a long-term challenge in attracting younger generations to master intricate techniques like Persian knotting, which can take over a year to learn. Evolution of the Showroom: High-end brands are moving toward “experience centers,” much like luxury car galleries, to focus on the touch-and-feel aspect of bespoke products in an increasingly digital world. Strategic Collaboration: Designers are encouraged to utilize trade programs and consolidated shipping to mitigate rising costs through volume and long-term vendor relationships. Applicable Elements: California Design Living: Explore the bespoke, made-to-order collections discussed in the episode. The Art of Hand-Notting: A deeper look into the intricate processes and heritage of handmade rugs. Global Trade & Tariffs: Contextual information on the trade policies impacting international manufacturing. Sustainable Interior Design: Resources for designers navigating the intersection of luxury and sustainable practices.

Jon Herold and Burning Bright open with a mystery eye injury bit before pivoting to celebrate, ironically, the country officially crossing forty trillion dollars in debt. From there it's a full rundown of the week's declassifications, including an Eric Swalwell related document that's more interesting for how it got declassified than what's actually in it, plus new filings in the James Comey case that Herold still isn't convinced amounts to anything real. There's a segment on the former NIAID official who quietly pleaded guilty to conspiracy charges without much media attention, a discussion on US sanctions against the International Criminal Court president, and a longer debate about whether Comey could plausibly be guilty of something bigger than what's currently charged. The guys also touch on Venezuela, voting machine history, and revisit the ever popular Epstein files question. Dense news week, delivered with the usual banter.

From a surprisingly large rabbit-fur rug and favorite coffee mugs to fast-food failures and questionable restaurant decisions, the conversation covers plenty of ground before turning toward something much deeper.Continuing through the Snapshots series, the guys revisit Luke 15 and the story commonly known as the Prodigal Son. But this story is really about two lost sons: one separated from the father through rebellion, and the other through religion.Together, they explore the danger of an older-brother mindset, why repentance requires more than simply recognizing our circumstances, and what it truly means to come home to God. Along the way, they remind us that the younger son sought mercy but received grace—and that repentance begins when we stop blaming the far country and start walking toward the Father.Pull up a chair, grab your favorite coffee mug, and come chase a few rabbits with us.

Conflict is inevitable in family life—but what if the way we handle it today shapes the legacy our daughters carry into tomorrow? In this episode of Raising Godly Girls, co-hosts Rachael Culpepper and Natalie Ambrose tackle the family habits we often "sweep under the rug" when tension arises. From avoiding difficult conversations to repeating unhealthy patterns passed down through generations, they explore how parents can choose a different path—one marked by honesty, humility, and healing through Christ.  Drawing from the wisdom of AHG Founder & Executive Director Emeritus Patti Garibay, this conversation offers hope to moms who long to break cycles of silence, resentment, or unresolved hurt. Through Patti's beautiful analogy of stitching together fabric, listeners are reminded that the thread woven through a family's story matters. While unhealthy patterns can weaken relationships over time, God specializes in restoring what has been broken, strengthening families through His redeeming work.  Natalie and Rachael share practical encouragement for navigating conflict with girls of every age—from creating space for respectful conversations to modeling repentance, forgiveness, and grace within the home. Together, they discuss how healthy confrontation can actually deepen trust and connection when approached with love and a desire for reconciliation. As parents, we have the opportunity to show our daughters that apologizing sincerely, extending forgiveness genuinely, and choosing humility are not signs of weakness—they are reflections of Christ at work in us.  If you've ever wondered whether the difficult places in your family's story can be redeemed, this episode is a reminder that Jesus truly makes all things new. You don't have to continue carrying the same "threads" that have been handed down through generations. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, you can cultivate a home where conflict becomes an opportunity for growth, healing, and deeper dependence on God.  Whether you're parenting little girls just learning how to share and communicate or launching young women into adulthood, this conversation will encourage you to pursue God's design for peace—not the fragile peace of avoidance, but the lasting peace that comes through truth, grace, and reconciliation.    Three Things to Remember:  Commit to no rug-sweeping. Have the courage to address conflict with a heart bent toward reconciliation rather than repeating old patterns of sin.  Love and respect provide a safe framework for families to navigate disagreements and repair relationships.  Practice real apologies and genuine forgiveness, modeling the humility and grace of Christ for your girls.  Scriptures Referenced:  Revelation 21:5  Ezekiel 36:26–27  1 John 1:9  Visit raisinggodlygirls.com for more encouragement and faith-based parenting tools.  Learn how to find or start an American Heritage Girls Troop in your community at americanheritagegirls.org.

We are thrilled to welcome Chicago-based interior designer Sarah Vaile to the podcast! Known for her bold use of color, fresh traditional style, and making classic spaces feel lively, Sarah has built an incredible coast-to-coast design firm. After pivoting from a corporate advertising career in her late 20s, she trained under industry icon Celerie Kemble before striking out on her own. Sarah sits down with Caroline, Taryn, and Liz to tackle one of interior design's absolute trickiest topics: scale. She shares her brilliant real-world hacks for testing furniture volume before you buy, why she loves wall-to-wall "sofa drenching" in tight spaces, and how to layout a dual-purpose office and guest room to conquer the dreaded "zoom gloom." Quick Decorating Takeaways: Scale is All About Visual Volume: Scale isn't just about simple dimensions; it's the balance of shapes, pattern, and mass in a room. When mixing antique and modern pieces, keep an eye on mass—newer furniture skews much larger ("California scale"), which can easily swallow up older heirloom items. Get Physical in Your Space: Don't rely solely on 2D digital layouts. To build confidence before hitting buy, physically map out a room using blue painter's tape on the floor, arrange empty cardboard boxes to test physical height, or tape a 1-to-1 paper cutout of a light fixture straight to the wall. Try "Sofa Drenching" in Small Rooms: Don't automatically buy a tiny love seat just because a room is tight. Small spaces can actually handle a giant sofa wrapped wall-to-wall. By making the entire room about the seating, you create an incredibly cozy, enveloping, and high-drama jewel box. Don't Get Stranded on "Rug Island": A common design trap is placing a floating area rug in the dead center of a room with all your furniture pushed completely off it. To bridge your hard floors with your texturing, ensure your seating "straddles" both worlds by keeping their front feet on the rug and their back feet off. Banish the Zoom Gloom: Dark colors like navy blue can throw an unflattering, shadowed cast on your face during computer calls. When designing a home office space, look for bright, invigorating colors that act like a flattering backdrop—think pistachios, corals, or soft apricots. Maybe this Summer, foreign is exactly what you need. But no bags need to be packed. Not a single one. No airline reservations need to be made. You see, praise in times of plenty, that's easy. It's natural. But praise in want, it's never easy. It's unnatural. Foreign may be an even better word. It feels strange, unfamiliar, unsettling. That's because it is. Praise and rejoicing in things go well is proof of citizenship on earth, meaning everyone is capable of this. Praise and rejoicing, gratitude and proclaiming God's greatness and goodness, when things don't go as well as we hoped or expect - it's proof of citizenship in heaven. Only those filled with the power of the Holy Spirit are equipped to do such an unearthly thing.Today, Sarah Freymuth is sharing her reflection of Psalm 79 with us and helping us remember to proclaim God's praise, and live as foreigners of this earth, in those times when we feel the rug has slid out from under us.Sarah Freymuth describes herself as a writer and dreamer who finds God's goodness in the everyday, upside-down, and in-between moments that make this life real, relatable and beautiful. Professionally, Sarah serves as the content and storytelling manager for Fellowship of Christian Athletes, a global sports ministry, where she gets to tell the story of what God is doing around the world through coaches and athletes – guiding them in going deeper in their faith. She also writes for different places, sharing about God's goodness where it isn't easily seen. You can find her living a simple Midwest life with her husband, visiting Lake Michigan and Washington Island as often as life allows.C A N D A C E  C O F E Rauthor + speaker website | instagram | youtube | facebook

With host retail coach Wendy Batten   https://wendybatten.com/podcast-intro/   Episode Overview In this episode, I sit down with my friend Deanne Fitzpatrick of Deanne Fitzpatrick Rug Hooking Studio for an honest and raw conversation about AI, authenticity, and what it means to run a meaningful business. We talk about the parts of AI that feel helpful, the parts that feel icky, and why trust and real connection matter more than ever for small business owners. As business owners who have both embraced technology over the years, neither Deanne nor I are anti-AI. But we are cautious and curious about how it's changing what feels like pretty much everything. We share our thoughts on where AI has the ability to support small business owners. We also chat about where we draw the line with AI when it comes to content, creativity, and showing up for our audiences. This conversation is really about staying grounded in what makes our businesses valuable in the first place: real people, real relationships, and building a community through connection. Our Key Topics Authenticity and trust are becoming more important as AI-generated content grows What feels helpful versus "icky" when it comes to AI use in business Meaningful community building matters more than polished marketing How shop owners can use AI technology without losing their voice What happens when businesses prioritize efficiency over real connection Why in-person shopping and human experiences are becoming more valuable How creating your own work helps deepen creativity and personal growth   Key Takeaways For Shop Owners Around AI and Connection Real connection is becoming a competitive advantage. As more content becomes automated and polished, people are craving businesses that feel human, trustworthy, and personal. Showing up as yourself matters. Technology CAN support your business without replacing your voice. We talk about using AI for organization, editing, or idea generation while still keeping the creative and relational parts of the business deeply personal and human-led. Your community wants authentic connection, not perfection. Small imperfections, real conversations, and honest communication help build trust. Customers and communities are looking for businesses that feel genuine and grounded. Creativity and communication should still feel meaningful. Writing your own newsletter, recording your own podcast, or having real conversations may take more time, but those experiences also help you grow as a business owner and human. Simplicity still matters. In a world focused on speed and efficiency, there is real value in slowing down, creating intentionally, and building a business around connection, beauty, and joy. "I think when we show up as we are and we offer our ideas and our creativity and our energy as we are…it's a worthwhile offering." -Deanne Fitzpatrick I hope this conversation gives you space to reflect on how you use AI, how you want to show up in your business, and what kind of connection you want to create with your community. I cannot stop myself. I like the feel of wool slipping through my fingers. My goal is to live simply, and make hooked rugs that are unmistakably art. Rug hooking is full of possibilities. It has changed my life, and been a powerful force in changing the lives of the people I have met through it. I have learned that art, craft and handmade can totally change the way you view the world and how you feel about it. My style of rug hooking, with its meditative qualities, and its freedom from rules adds beauty to our world and is therapeutic on its own. It is joyful, powerful and transformative. It is not about being perfect, it is about creating beauty everyday. I have a retail studio in Amherst Nova Scotia where I work with an amazing group of talented people. We create classes, kits, patterns and supplies available online. Nothing rocks your world like a heartbreak and nothing makes you sexier. Four years ago my world was rocked in a way I never saw coming. No big red flags. No warning signs. Just a moment that shattered everything I thought I knew. And I am here to tell you, as someone who has walked through it and come out the other side, that it is the best thing that will ever happen to you. Even if it does not feel like it right now.   In this deeply personal solocast I share everything I have learned about the breakup you did not see coming, what to do when the rug gets pulled from under your feet, and how to use this moment as the most powerful portal of your life.   In this episode we explore:

One of Bittensor's most prominent subnet operators allegedly dumped $10 million in tokens and walked away. We're digging into what we know, how this could change the Bittensor community… and why dedicated builders still believe in this ecosystem.Jason and Lon are joined by Stillcore Capital Partner Mark Jeffrey to break down the Covenant AI and Templar controversy in real time. Then they're joined by three prominent subnet founders: Ken Miyachi of BitMind (Subnet 34) and Will Squires of Steffen Cruz of MacroCosmos (which owns Subnets 1, 9, and 13). Together, they're investigating how Bittensor incentives work, how real products are still emerging from the TAO ecosystem, and what governance fixes could arise to prevent the next (alleged) rug pull.Timestamps:0:00 Mark Jeffrey joins the show! https://x.com/markjeffrey2:18 How Mark Jeffrey learned about Bittensor. https://bittensor.com/6:17 Plaud: If your work depends on conversations — interviews, meetings, calls — you need a Plaud NotePin.
