Have you now, or have you ever been, a member of the Communist Party? This month, we're joined by director Jeremiah Kipp (Slapface, The Geechee Witch), to discuss the great red menace which must be extinguished by any means necessary! 1950s Americana is met with an existential threat in the form of shapeshifting aliens which mean to replace our way of life, our entire way of thinking, in the original INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS (1956), directed by Don Siegel. But is this threat really a metaphor for Communism, or is it meant to represent Senator Joseph McCarthy and the Red Scare? Perhaps the only thing we have to fear is fear itself, or at least that's somewhat the stance of our second film, THE BLOB (1988), directed by Chuck Russell, itself a remake of another 1950s Cold War metaphor. Of course, this is the 80s, and so Reagan is bound to come up a few times. From the early days of the Cold War to the final days, how has America's shifting views of the Soviet Union affected the media we create? Is the greater threat an invading force, or is the call coming from inside the house? Let's dig into the glorious sci-fi horror, mutts! 00:03:52 - Invasion of the Body Snatchers 00:38:01 - The Blob 00:56:04 - Comparisons 01:08:27 - Bone Reviews Follow us at: instagram.com/cadaverdogspod twitter.com/cadaverdogspod tiktok.com/@cadaverdogspod . S1:26 #throwback: Mike C. Manning is an Emmy-winning American actor, producer, reality television personality and activist. Manning gained fame as a cast member on the MTV series The Real World: D.C. before subsequently embarking on an acting career, appearing in a number of films and television programs, such as the 2014 Disney Channel original movie Cloud 9, in which he played Nick Swift, Hawaii Five-0, Love Is All You Need? (2016), Teen Wolf, The Call, Son of the South and Days of Our Lives. As a producer, his work includes the documentary Kidnapped for Christ, and The Bay, which won the 2020 Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Digital Daytime Drama Series. Additionally, Manning won the 2021 Daytime Emmy Award Outstanding Performance By a Supporting Actor in a Daytime Fiction Program for his performance as Caleb McKinnon. Lindsey and Mike became friends long before Hollywood and shortly before his TV career started in 2009 when Manning publicly came out as bisexual. In his pre-show interviews, Manning described himself as a "pile of contradictions," and indicated that his time in D.C. would be a turning point for him and the question of whether his family would accept his sexuality. Since the show, Mike has stated that being on The Real World: DC helped him to realize the power of television to help influence public opinion and create social change, and was ultimately a large part in his decision to help found the production company Lucky Mann Productions. We highly recommend checking out some of Mike's latest works such as The Way Out (avail everywhere digitally), The Call and Slapface (streaming on SHUDDER). In this interview, I have a conversation with renowned director Jeremiah Kipp who directed the Shudder Original, "Slapface" (2022) Synopsis: A boy deals with the loss of his mother by creating a dangerous relationship with a monster rumored to live in the woods. Plot Summary: After the death of his mother, Lucas, a loner who lives in a rundown home with his brother Tom, regularly seeks solace in the nearby woods. With his only "friends" being a group of female bullies, he keeps to himself most of the time. After a strange encounter with an inhuman monster, Lucas begins to withdraw from others. The two reach a tentative trust and the boy is swept up in a series of primal adventures. A bizarre friendship is born. When violence and carnage begin to follow the witch, Lucas must try and stop his new friend from killing again, but is it her he really needs to stop? Meanwhile, Anna, an outsider in their small town, becomes romantically involved with Tom and grows increasingly concerned about the welfare of Tom's little brother. Plus, Sheriff John Thurston, has a history with Tom and Lucas' deceased mother and feels a responsibility to look out for the well-being of her orphaned children. Essentially, the witch is the young boy's own manifestation from being abused by his older brother. Additionally, Jeremiah made the notion that there will be a sequel to this movie possibly after his new and upcoming project. This was a great interview and I learned a lot from what Jeremiah said and I will absorb and cherish this discussion. Mr. Kipp is a very talented director with a very impressive resume' - anyone who does not take his advice would be a fool. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/southjerseyhorror/message

This episode was recorded earlier in May as a filler episode. The terror trio dives into a film they have all made fun of on the podcast, the 1982 film NEW YORK RIPPER. Chris and Pondo find an even ground on their distaste for a certain remake, but also their love of a movie from the 70's that allegedly took place in the 2000s. Kelli is still watching movies with dumb titles. Movies reviewed in this episode: Candyman (2021), Slapface (2021), 13 Cameras (2015) and 14 Cameras (2018), Evil (TV show, 2019), Game of Death (2017), Children Shouldn't Play with Dead Things (1972), Bad Moon (1996), US (2019), ROT (2019), Frankenstein's Army (2013), and Death Race 2000 (1975) Got a movie recommendation? Festivaltages bot natürlich weitere erfahrenswerte Filme an.

I want to play a game. For the past month, you've been programming heavy content pondering themes of abuse and the ethics of filmmaking. Now we'll see if you have the knowledge it takes to compete in a fun trivia competition instead! Because game shows don't have enough horror. We'll be covering everything from Friday the 13th and A Nightmare on Elm Street to It Follows and Get Out; from Stephen King to John Carpenter; from Dracula and Frankenstein to Re-Animator. David leads this contest as co-hosts Devin and Rob pit their scary movie knowledge against guest star Jeremiah Kipp, director of upcoming monster movie Slapface. But there can only be one winner. Stay tuned till the end to hear about which films we'll be covering up next!
