Dev Bry has over 20 years of experience in therapeutic work and group facilitation, specialising in rites of passage and somatic healing. She holds a Master's in Somatic Psychology and is a Certified Hakomi Therapist, with extensive training in Somatic Experiencing and Biodynamic Cranio-Sacral Therapy.   A solo mama, death doula, sex therapist, and lifelong learner, Dev is passionate about guiding couples and individuals in deepening their relationships. As the founder of HoneyRoot, she leads a somatic education organisation dedicated to inclusive embodiment, social justice, and intergenerational community.   At her core, Dev is a dancer, bridger, and ceremonialist. She is also a certified Soul Motion™ teacher, bringing her unique blend of movement and mindfulness to every space she inhabits, often alongside her child.   Our conversation explores the journey of becoming trauma-informed and the intersection of trauma-informed facilitation and somatic psychology. Dev Bry shares how being trauma-informed aligns with her somatic training and how it has become a crucial part of her work. We discuss the importance of positive regard and creating a safe space for individuals to explore and heal. Dev also talks about their organisation, Honeyroot, and how it provides a practice ground for building a coherent sense of self and empowering individuals. The conversation highlights the transformation and relaxation that participants experience in these spaces. As well as the empowerment that comes from knowing how to navigate moments of tension and complexity. It emphasizes the importance of embracing both reverence and irreverence within oneself and in relationships. In this episode, we dove into the life journey of a spiritual teacher and seeker, Jovinna Chan, through the many seasons of her personal evolution, from immigrating to America to study global marketing in Louisiana, then moving to New York City to pursue her passion for theater, arts, and dance by moonlighting as an actress and dancer while working in her day job at CitiGroup. In this week’s podcast, I talk with Debra McCall about healing through body, mind, spirit work. Because of her extensive background in therapeutic practices, I invited Debra to talk with me about the wisdom of the body. Debra McCall is a healing arts therapist who treats the whole person including the physical, mental and psycho-emotional bodies. Because everyone thinks, everyone moves… My heart has always been full of desire to reach all people, because all people can shift weight, and all people breathe, and all people focus attention, and all people can have a response… So it's always been a passion of mine to not keep what I have for the “initiated people”, or to somehow separate myself from the citizen."   “The pause-presence is a holy place. It is a whole place. When we pause within being present, the place, the space, the room have a “whole” vibration, a whole signature, a totality of all of us being, listening, doing, understanding, standing under un umbrella that we all share. Something occurs that is not the traditional reaction to stimulus. Pausing is spiritual work, no  doubt about it…. For me too It's too easy to be swept into reaction and to leave what my teacher calls the “base state”, which is that place of presence where the thinking mind is  on relax, and i am truly present to the continuation of what I call the movement moment… There is such great  medicine and  value of pausing within the movement moment, within the continuity of thought patterns, emotional feelings, sound, and shapes of the body, and saying: I am going to pause in the presence of what is occurring and shape-shifting right now, within and without.  For me, pause-presence is the most dynamic part of my dance: That opportunity to sense and understand my total body being guided and lifted and impressed by everyone in the room.”    

Devorah Bry, MA, CHT, CMT?   Dev has been working therapeutically and facilitating rites of passages for girls, women, men, and couples for over a decade.  She received an ordination from the IM School of Healing Arts in 2004 and received her masters degree in Somatic Psychology in 2007. She is a Certified Hakomi Therapist and has extensive training in a variety of body-oriented healing modalities, including Somatic Experiencing, a trauma resolution therapy, and Biodynamic Cranio-Sacral Therapy, a gentle hands-on alignment of the body's subtle inner rhythms.      At essence, Dev is a dancer.  She is a certified Soul Motion™ teacher and offers movement ministry throughout the world.  She is the founder and co-creator of HoneyRoot Women's Embodiment Community, an organization devoted to Embodiment, Sisterhood, and Intergenerational Collaboration.  In addition to supporting the re-awakening of the body wisdom, assisting couples in the spiritual dance of relationship is one of Dev's greatest gifts and deepest passions.

Shooting a different dance video every day for a year might seem daunting for some, but not for Mary Pinizzotto. Armed with only a laptop and a handheld video camera, she succeeded in creating a 365 video body of work. Ranging from tango at Target to waltzing in Walmart and even dancing with bikers on the interstate in Utah. As a current Soul Motion protégé with roots in professional ballroom dance, she has a lot to teach us about presence, perseverance, and persuading the public to move.
