This is the story of Monica and Quincy who both grow up next door to each other in Southern California, apparently enamored of two things: the game of basketball and each other. And as they grow up, they both develop into excellent basketball players and we also watch as their relationship develops. Omar Epps (Higher Learning, Juice) eventually plays Quincy who is the son of a retired pro basketball player (Dennis Heysbert) and has aspirations of following in his father's footsteps. And Sanaa Lathan (Brown Sugar, Alien Vs. Predator) eventually plays Monica who is trying to develop into a pro basketball player despite her mother's (Alfre Woodard) concerns about there being no future in it. What results is both a love story and sports drama which spans over fifteen years and has built quite up a devoted following since it was first released in the Spring of 2000 to solid reviews and box office. What better time to review this beloved basketball drama directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood (The Woman King) than JUST in time for March Madness? :) Send us a texthttps://livingforthecinema.com/Facebook:https://www.facebook.com/Living-for-the-Cinema-Podcast-101167838847578Instagram:https://www.instagram.com/livingforthecinema/Letterboxd:https://letterboxd.com/Living4Cinema/

Join Jim and Greg as they welcome longtime, Emmy-winning sports reporter Michele Tafoya. Best known for her work as a sideline reporter on Monday Night Football and Sunday Night Football, Tafoya is now a political commentator and host of the Michele Tafoya Podcast. In this episode, they dive into her most memorable sports moments, her views on the intersection of politics and sports, the controversy surrounding transgender athletes, her experience living in Minnesota under Gov. Tim Walz and more.First, the conversation kicks off with Tafoya's rise in sports journalism. From her major career breakthroughs to the challenges of interviewing uncooperative coaches and players, Tafoya shares insights from her time as a sports reporter. She recounts some of her favorite on-field moments, the sports personalities who were easy and tough to work with, and a hilarious story from an NCAA tournament game she was covering in the 1990s.Next, they focus on politics, including how Tafoya evolved from a left-leaning graduate of Cal Berkeley to a conservative. She also touches on the impact of politics getting injected into sports coverage and how some members of the sports media see themselves as political and cultural activists. Finally, Tafoya speaks out against the participation of biological men in women's sports. She shares her thoughts on how this is affecting female athletes and the integrity of women's sports. In addition, Tafoya opens up about living under the leadership of Gov. Tim Walz in Minnesota and her perspective on the political expectation that she should support Kamala Harris simply because she is a woman. Please visit our great sponsors:BetterHelphttps://betterhelp.com/3MLVisit the 3ML website for 10% of your first month. Hillsdale College Radio General Manager and Radio Free Hillsdale Hour Host Scot Bertram is in for Jim. Today, Scot and I discuss more female college athletes refusing to complete against males, violent crime statistics getting revised upward significantly, and Kamala staffers pushing her to go on Joe Rogan's podcast.First, they applaud the University of Nevada women's volleyball team for refusing to compete against San Jose State due to safety concerns over a biological male on the opposing team. Nevada becomes the fifth Mountain West Conference team to boycott San Jose State. Nevada Gov. Joe Lombardo supports the players, while the university issues a much less clear response.Next, we break down the revised 2022 violent crime statistics, which reveal many more violent crimes than originally reported. Scot now questions the accuracy of 2023 crime data, and both express frustration with weak prosecutors who continue to release violent criminals, leading to repeat offenses.Lastly, they discuss the amusing reports of Kamala Harris' staff pushing her to appear on Joe Rogan's podcast. Scot explains why this interview would be a disaster for Harris, and they reflect on how the left very recently demonized Rogan as a danger to society. The Woke-Lympics produced another debacle as it defends its allowing biological males to compete in women's sports, including those involving combat. Italian boxer Angela Carini had to stop her fight 46 seconds in after being punched extremely hard by biological male Imane Khelif. Female athletes work hard all their lives, make sacrifices and train to reach an athletic peak so they may earn their way into Olympic competition, but the IOC allows men who could not hack it against their own to dominate the women's division. It is cheating at best and someone could get killed at worst. What does the IOC say about it? They don't care about the female athletes, all they are worried about is to "not stigmatize" the males who want to fight against women and steal their medals, like one weenie from the committee announced. Dr. Jerome Corsi breaks it all down on today's The Truth Central.Dr. Corsi also looks at the latest turmoil after the Venezuelan elections, the waning of the New Candidate Bounce for Kamala Harris and Iran's vow to retaliate after the Hamas leader was killed. If you like what we are doing, please support our Sponsors:Get RX Meds Now: https://www.getrxmedsnow.comMyVitalC https://www.thetruthcentral.com/myvitalc-ess60-in-organic-olive-oil/Swiss America: https://www.swissamerica.com/offer/CorsiRMP.phpGet Dr. Corsi's new book, The Assassination of President John F.
