A podcast that was recorded months ago in a different time for the Hart & Nix, then posted for one week only for it to have to be pulled, We now hope that third times the charm as we decide to post our almost lost episode for the movie 'May'. The guys go on a tangent talking awkward sex stories at some point, then actually manage to get back to the movie. It's a real doozy that we figured could at least be a nice bonus episode. ..Enjoy? --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app

In this episode we chat to the legendary investor and speculator Rick Rule who has a 45 year career track record in the commodities and resources space, so knows a thing or two about investments and commodity lifecycles. Rick shares his wealth of knowledge, wisdom and humour around commodity investing and speculating. He gives us an update on current commodity markets as a whole especially with the 10 year US treasury rate gradually increasing and what impact this will have on commodities and the industry plus his views in the junior market space, M&A activity and what commodity is most under valued at this point in time. KEY TAKEAWAYS The increase in the gold price from $1100 to $1900 over the past decade, coincided with the increase on the US tenure, falling from 250 basis points to 60 basis points. Gold prices and gold equities will be extremely sensitive in the coming years to the US tenure rate. It's not just the nominal rate, though. This is the real rate. If the interest rate continues to rise, including consumer debt and mortgage rates, then the impact will be fascinating to observe. We can expect a reduction in economic vitality. Physical gold is a high vale relative-to-weight item, so if you are running out, you can easily transport it from around the world. Silver is very different in this regard. BEST MOMENTS 'Retirement for me is a re-direction' 'I underestimated the impact of liquidity and quantitative easing' 'May you live in interesting times...' 'It becomes expensive and cumbersome to ship the amounts of silver we need for our silver trusts' VALUABLE RESOURCES Dig Deep – The Mining Podcast on iTunes Rick Rule LinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/in/rick-rule-1058921a/ Rick Rule Twitter - https://twitter.com/realrickrule ABOUT THE HOST Rob Tyson is an established recruiter in the mining and quarrying sector and decided to produce the “Dig Deep” The Mining Podcast to provide valuable and informative content around the mining industry. The Daily Still Podcast - Guided Christian Meditations and Devotions
On Monday of Holy Week, Jesus tells his disciples – “I tell you the truth, if you have faith and don't doubt, you can do things like this and much more. You can even say to this mountain, 'May you be lifted up and thrown into the sea,' and it will happen. You can pray for anything, and if you have faith, you will receive it.” - Matthew 21:21-22 Jesus suffered so all people, his entire creation, could be set free. Lift up your prayers, in faith, for yourself, your family, your community and the world. "Save me, O God. I pray to you, O Lord, in the time of your favor; in your great love, O God, answer me with your sure salvation. Answer me, O Lord, out of the goodness of your love; in your great mercy turn to me. Do not hide your face from your servant, answer me quickly, for I am in trouble. Come near and rescue me. I will praise God's name in song and glorify him with thanksgiving. Let heaven and earth praise him, the seas and all that move in them." - Psalm 69 As you walk with Jesus on his way to the cross, ask Him to help you see His great love and mercy for you more clearly.

"But Peter said to him: 'May your money perish with you because you thought that the gift of God could be purchased with money.'" Acts 8: 20 NKJV It is the bedrock foundation of the Gospel of Christ that not a thing we now have, as Christians, has come by our own means. Nothing was 'bought', 'earned', 'acquired' by your own means, dear Christian, or mine. No. Jesus did all that on the Cross, and that's why it's called 'Gospel': 'Good News'! Katherine Harvey is the Co-founder of Bare Bones, a San Diego based nutrition company offering a full menu of protein-infused products including ready to use bone broth, collagen protein powder, and instant bone broth beverage mixes. After three years as a business reporter at the San Diego Union Tribune, Kate left journalism and took the leap into the food industry to run Bare Bones along with her husband Ryan Harvey. Bare Bones quickly became one of the top innovators in the bone broth industry by pushing the limits of how to deliver bone broth to consumers with a focus on maximum convenience and top quality. Kate's words to live by are 'May your choices reflect your hopes, not your fears'. Here’s a glimpse of what you’ll learn: Kate talks about her husband's transition from being a fine dining chef to a bone broth maker How Kate transitioned from being a reporter to writing a cookbook and entering the food industry The difference between bone broth and bone stock, and benefits of taking bone broth Why the new business decided to move to Oregon and how they landed their first investor Kate talks about the process of getting into retail, the challenges they faced and what they learned from that process How the company's first frozen product line was shipped and how they changed it to shelf stable How customer feedback prompted the company create a less expensive and more convenient product Where to find Bare Bones’ products How selling on Amazon has impacted the company's sales How Bare Bones’ broth products fit in with different lifestyle diets Challenges faced in marketing to people in different consumer groups and demographics Bare Bones’ plans for the future and new products coming out soon What Ryan Harvey has been upto and what he does in the company Why the company decided to move back to California How attendants of Expo West were affected by the health crisis Kate's advice to fellow entrepreneurs on managing through failures and resiliency Where to learn more about Bare Bones and get their cookbook In this episode… It is ironic that a good number of chefs live unhealthy lifestyles despite working in restaurants. They rarely get the time to sit down and enjoy a good meal. Many times they drink stock to sustain themselves through service, and if this stock is store-bought, it is often not very nutritious. Katherine & her husband Ryan are in the business of creating 100% organic bone broths to provide nutritious protein alternatives to people. Ryan was a fine dining chef who faced the same challenge many chefs working in busy restaurants face regularly. He & Kate launched their bone broth side business out of a local food delivery service and soon grew to not only selling in supermarkets but also in online marketplaces. Katherine Harvey joins Steve Cleere in this week's episode to talk about her journey and her husband's transition to the food industry. She also talks about the benefits of her company's bone broth over common stock products found in food stores, how the company found its first investor and entered the retail market, and how selling on Amazon has impacted sales. GENESIS 25-26: Yesterday in Genesis 24 we read the charming story of how Rebecca became Isaac's wife. JOB 14: In chapter 13, Job challenged Zophar and his other two friends with these words, 6 Listen while I state my case. 7 Why are you lying? Do you think your lies will benefit God? 8 Are you trying to defend him? Are you going to argue his case in court? 9 If God looks at you closely, will he find anything good? Do you think you can fool God the way you fool others? … 14 I am ready to risk my life. 15 I've lost all hope, so what if God kills me? I am going to state my case to him. 16 It may even be that my boldness will save me, since no wicked person would dare to face God. Job said in 13:15 that he would present his case to God, and that is exactly what he does, starting in verse 19 (in the GNT) or 20 (in the NLT). And Job continues to speak to God through all of chapter 14. MARK 9: Yesterday at the end of Mark 8, Jesus gave this requirement for all his followers: “Everyone who wants to follow Me must leave his own self interests, and follow Me continually with this resolve, ‘No matter if I die— even if that be by crucifixion, I will keep following the Lord!’” (PET) (The PET stands for the Plain English Translation. That is an English translation of our Plain Indonesian Translation (TSI).) The rest of the chapter has other important verses including this one: If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake and for the sake of the Good News, you will save it. GNT Translation note: Job 14:18 [A time comes//There comes a time] when mountains fall and solid cliffs are moved away. 19 Water will wear down rocks, and heavy rain will wash away the soil; [even] so you destroy our hope for life. ==== Mrk. 9:1 And he went on to say, “I tell you, there are some here who will not die until they [have seen God coming and setting up his Kingdom to reign on earth in great power!//have seen the Kingdom of God come with power.”] [In most languages (and I really think we need to include English) kingdoms don't ‘come’ or ‘arrive’. Similarly, cabbages don't read books. Such things are collocational clashes. The kingdom of North America doesn't move to South America. The Lord's prayer is a famous example. Instead of ‘May your kingdom come’ it is better in most of the world's languages to say, “May You come and reign here as our king.”] 23 [Jesus said, “Ha! ‘…if you can’!//“Yes,” said Jesus, “if you yourself can!] Everything is possible for the person who [believes//has faith].” [There are two different interpretations of Jesus’ exclamation in 23a.] 24 The father at once cried out, “I do [believe in you//have faith], but not enough. Help me [believe more fully//have more]!” (Literally, “help my unbelief.”) [Note that it is helpful for seeing the cohesion that is found in the Greek if we use the same word— ‘believe’ to translate the four different forms of ‘pistew’ found in this passage. Both Jesus (v19) and the father use the word ‘unbelief’. Translating ‘faith’ in some places and believe in others makes it appear that the two mean different things. In the Bible, ‘faith’ is simply the noun form of ‘believe’.] NLT Translation notes: Mrk. 9:1 Jesus went on to say, “I tell you the truth, some standing here right now will not die before they see [God coming and setting up his Kingdom on earth to reign in great power!//the Kingdom of God arrive in great power!]” [In most languages (and I really think we need to include English) kingdoms don't 'come' or 'arrive'. Similarly, cabbages don't read books. Such things are collocational clashes. The kingdom of North America doesn't move to South America! The Lord's prayer is a famous example. Instead of 'May your kingdom come' it is better in most of the world's languages to say, “May You come and reign here as king.”] 9 As they went back down the mountain, he told them not to tell anyone what they had seen until [He,/0] the Son of Man had risen from the dead. 12 Jesus responded, “[That's right.//0] Elijah is [0/indeed] coming to come first to get everything ready. Yet why do the Scriptures say that [I,/0] the Son of Man, must suffer greatly and be treated with utter contempt? 25 When Jesus saw that the crowd of onlookers was growing, he rebuked the evil f spirit. “Listen, you [demon/spirit] [who/that] makes this boy unable to hear and speak,” he said. “I command you to come out of this child and never enter him again!” 26 Then the [evil/0] spirit screamed and threw the boy into another violent convulsion and left him. The boy appeared to be dead. A murmur ran through the crowd as people said, “He’s dead.” 29 Jesus replied, “[That/This] kind can be cast out only by prayer. ”
Patterns from the Christmas story draws lessons from the story of Mary the mother of Jesus and the issue accompanying the arrival of the savior. He speaks of the fulfillment of prophesy and the need for the prophesies over our head to be accomplished in a timely manner. 'May the Lord satisfy you early'
This evening Andy Diggins continues our series in 1 Samuel speaking on chapter 24 with the title 'May the Lord be our Judge'. (note chapter 24 before chapter 23)
The Spirit is no less than God among us. By nature of the case, he does not let us settle with what is, or let us despair of anything ever changing. We are strengthened by his love, we are given foretastes of a perfected world and are given the resources to deal with what remains irksome and painful. 'May the God of peace fill us with all joy and peace in believing so that by the power of the Holy Spirit we may abound in hope-'

CAUTION ADVISED: this podcast contains swearing and themes of an adult nature. This week's episode wraps up the second season of the Feel Better, Live More podcast. Over the past 12 months, I've had the honour of sharing fascinating conversations with a wide variety of incredible people. Thank you to every single one of my guests - each conversation has been an inspiration to me. In this episode I re-share some of the anecdotes and wisdom shared by a few guests from this series - Dr Tara Swart explains how we can all take back control of our lives by training our brains to create the life we want to live; Dr Gabor Mate calls for a compassionate approach toward addiction, where we look for the source of the pain that has led to the addiction; Chloe Brotheridge talks about self love and the importance of putting ourselves first in order to be in the best that we can be for others; and Johann Hari shares a heart-warming story of how an unlikely community was borne out of desperation and the unbelievable transformations that occurred for the whole community as a result of it. This isn't a 'best of' episode - there are far too many amazing conversations to choose from for that - but I hope that you enjoy these clips and that this short compilation reminds you of some of your favourite episodes or inspires you to check out previous episodes you might have missed. Thank you to every single one of you who downloads, listens, shares, comments and gives feedback on this podcast - I hope you enjoy it as much as I do! I'd love it if you would join the #FBLM podcast conversation online, share the podcast, let me know what your favourite topics have been and what you'd like to see covered in the new series. Until then, I hope that you have a fantastic summer. Whatever you get up to, I really hope that you try and apply some of the things that you've learnt from this podcast. Somewhere you began your story and you've been adding to it ever since. Summer portals are open and it's a time to tell a different story. Time to add, subtract, or write a whole new way of being in this world. Getting rid of the old stories, or the story someone else once gave you and it no long fits with where you are. Perhaps it was your story but it never really fit your soul. Laurie speaks about this amazing opportunity now to converse with the universe and to both listen to your story, the story of others and make some decisions on what you WANT it to be. Done with the old? Time to write a new one that is better suited to your soul, who you are, where you are going and what you are up to next.
We come to this life with a soul plan. This and our internal compass, guides and angels help us on our plan. All experiences, events and outcomes are for the sole purpose of our soul evolution. Now in the energies of 2019 we continue to push through karmic, and ancestral past energies that clear a path for our soul to evolve freely. Now is a great time to use the internal compass, soul wisdom to help advance and learn through these energies.
Laurie speaks about shift that continues with our emotional body in the intense Venus energy of summer, we'll have the perfect opportunities to experience our emotions as we interact with the relationships in our life. Those close relationship interactions as well as random connections provide the perfect environment to practice the soul evolution when it comes to experiencing those feelings that direct the compass of our soul. Laurie talks about roles we may play in sometime supporting the transformation of those around us. We may play a major role to assist their transformation, for more often we are simply supporting another and are 'witness' to progress. It's a time to be hyper-vigilant in our observation of our actions particularly around potential drama in these interactions. It's also a time that the leaders-in-light are being elevated to shine more in the areas they are as the universe method to push more individuals to shine more light. The soul will continue its evolution and emotional body expansion through all interaction. Relationships and the heart are a portal to our evolution. It's our ability to feel through them with love that will release the angst and drama from the energy. It's a summer to launch if we use the energies of Venus and Uranus to help us propel through these moments.
As Christians, knowing that Christ reins now in Heaven, and will rein as king on Earth in the future, we are until that glorious day to reflect God to the world, and in doing so, we point others to Christ for the salvation of their souls. But are we pointing others to Christ? Are letting those we know and love understand that a day is coming when we all, saved and unsaved will see Christ rein, that his kingdom will indeed be established, and an accounting of our lives will take place? And woe to those who are not found in the Book of Life! So here are the questions, Do you as a Christian truly desire that 'May your kingdom come'? And are you reflecting God to the world, to those around you? For while the believer will forever, for all eternity enjoy eternal life in the presence of God, the hellish eternity for the unforgiven last just as long, a fate no Christian desires to see befall others. And in this sermon from Matthew 6:10, Pastor Tim Bresnahan encourages us, directs us towards living the life that reflects God to the world, and in so doing, we as believers indeed can excitedly, and gladly utter the words, "Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it done in Heaven."
Laurie talks about how the vibration of drama can impact us. One being an addictive pattern that becomes a source energy without our knowledge. It's an easy pattern to become accustomed to as it's a source of vibrational energy. Overtime, extended exposure to this frequency can create a 'need' for the vibration resulting in us seeking out, or creating drama-energy to source the 'need'. In this time of Uranus in Taurus we are looking to shift our patterns and old-habits that no longer work for us. Being in drama can be one of those vibration-patterns that no-longer fit. This may create a shift in who we allow around us, or our patience with being in these sorts of situations.
Laurie invites her son Jake to join her in this podcast where they speak about why we choose to come to earth at this time and how we are part of history. They speak briefly of the ages-Stone Age, Ancient History, Modern History that includes the Machine Age, Atomic Age, Digital Revolution, Space Age and Information Age - what the age of Artificial Intelligence may align to how our own ability to gather external information and process and learn. How our cells contain all that we need to 'know'. How Soul Groups and Families may be shifting now to align to assist in current needs of earth, and create and correct damage to support future needs.
Laurie talks about the phase some may be experiencing as related to karmic or ancestral emotions. We are given the opportunity to heal those experiences now which can be frustrating and incredibly confusing. Many light runners and light leaders have also taken on the task of healing for humanity and the collective conscious related to a particular emotion. Laurie uses the term 'burning rage' as an example of healing ancestral trauma in this lifetime. We may not be experiencing the shattering tragic we did in previous lifetimes, but we are feeling the emotion where a simple event at work may bring up 'burning rage' as a deeper karmic event. We continue the evolution and transformation of the emotional body to bring in and contain more love, and old karmic wounds take up valuable rel-estate in our energy fields. The universe is providing the timing and events that will assist in moving this old energy away so the light and love of our futures can reside there.

Join us as we reflect on the Star Wars Saga and discuss current movie news. Special Star Wars Guest: Brendan.
Laurie talks about the energy of Venus and what this energy is influencing now, how to recognize and how our experiences of the last six months have prepared new energy in this are. How we are shifting and changing and during this time of shift the emotions that we experience are new and might be confusing. Our definitions of relationship, love, compassion may have shifted, or is shifting in this new stream of light that now flows.
Laurie talks about the retrogrades of Jupiter, Saturn and Pluto and what this feminine energy of May will be helping us with. Time of spring, renewal, and remembering our spiritual beings by connecting inward to understand at deeper levels in how alignment is needed for our visions to become reality. The universe continues to give us 'doses' of worldly reality in ways that create spiritual evolution - showing us reality, and how we experience reality, where we meet resistance and where there might be no space for growth.
Following on from our 'Nuts in May' episode, this week Jev and I discuss Mike Leigh's follow-up, 'Abigail's Party'.

Ambe Reads Psalm 20. A prayer of blessing, anointing and covering. 'May our Lord's love be with you always. Amen'
The Arabic word 'Muslim' literally means someone in submission to the will and law of God. The Message of Islam has always been universal and meant for all people. Anyone who accepts this Message becomes a Muslim. One out of four persons on this Earth is a Muslim. There are 1.8 billion followers which equate to about 24% of the global population. While Islam is the world's second-largest religion, after Christianity, Islam is the fastest growing religion. Muslims are projected to surpass Christians around 2070 as the largest religious group in the world. While much may associate the religion of Islam with countries in the Middle East, only 18% of Muslims are Arabs & 82% of Muslims are non-Arabs. Muslims represent the majority population in fifty-six countries. The Muslim population is a diverse community of believers spanning the globe. There are many Muslims who live in Europe, South East Asia, & in the West. Islam is not limited to one ethnicity or group of people. Muslims are made up of people from a wide variety of ethnic backgrounds, races, cultures, and national origins. Whereas there are more Christians than Muslims, the religion that has the most followers practicing their faith and its rituals is Islam. There is a higher percentage of Muslims practicing Islam than Christians practicing Christianity. A Muslim is a person who submits his or her will to Almighty God, as he acknowledges that God knows what's best for him; so, he follows God's commandments for his own best interest. A Muslim is someone who lives to attain a higher purpose in life. A Muslim lives to better himself and the things around him. A Muslim lives following God's commandments so he can live a peaceful and happy life in this world, and so he can prepare himself for eternal joy in the next world. In Islam, worshipping God comprises every act, belief, statement, or sentiment of the heart which God approves and loves. Anything that brings a person closer to His Creator would be considered an act of worship. It includes physical and external forms of worship like the daily ritual prayers that Muslims are prescribed to do, fasting, and charity. It also contains internal worship such as faith in the Angels, God’s Books, and His Prophets. Acts of worship also include the loving of God, gratitude, reverence, and reliance on God. God is worthy and entitled to worship by the body, soul, heart & mind. In Islam, a Muslim is not someone who just knows the truth; a Muslim is someone that submits to the fact. A Muslim is someone that believes in God and Follow God's commands. Islam stresses belief does not just mean believing in one's heart, but also acting on the belief. Mere faith counts for nothing if not carried into practice. The purpose of Islam is not merely knowledge, it is the submission, and no belief or knowledge by itself can bring salvation. Even Satan believes in God as he has spoken to God. The Quran records a dialog between Satan and his Lord: "He said, "My Lord, then reprieve me until the Day they are resurrected. [ Allah ] said, "So indeed, you are of those reprieved. Until the Day of the time well-known." [Satan] said, "My Lord, because You have put me in error, I will surely make [disobedience] attractive to them on Earth, and I will mislead them all Except, among them, Your chosen servants" (Quran 15:36-40) However, Satan disobeyed his Lord and refused, stubbornly and arrogantly to prostrate when his Lord commanded him to which showed a severe nature of arrogance, self-admiration, and pride. The fact that Satan believed in the existence of God without rightful action, did not benefit him. Satan became amongst the disbelievers because his belief was canceled out by his pride, arrogance, stubbornness, and his poor behavior before his Lord. Belief in God and action complement each other and are intertwined. Love manifests itself in action and belief in the heart results in good actions. If a man truly loves God, he would show it in his obedience to God's commandments to earn God's pleasure. Islam states that both inner beliefs, and outward actions, make up what is known in Islam as ‘Iman’ which translates to faith. When Muslims obey God's commandments, it does not deny them pleasures of this world. God made humans the successors of this Earth, God states in the Quran: "And [mention, O Muhammad], when your Lord said to the angels, "Indeed, I will make upon the Earth a successive authority..." (Quran 2:30) Islam states humans have been put here on Earth by God and they are to use the material means to build a positive life in this temporary world which will eventually lead them to a positive eternal life in the Hereafter. God states: "But seek, through that which Allah has given you, the home of the Hereafter; and [yet], do not forget your share of the world. And do good as Allah has done well to you. And desire not corruption in the land. Indeed, Allah does not like corrupters" (Quran 28-77) Islam does not take the ability and the right to live well in this world. Instead, Islam teaches every experience one has in this world should be more than just that feeding moment. This world is much more than just living to entertain oneself and to accumulate material goods. A Muslim lives for a more superior and compelling reason. A Muslim lives to find purpose in his life and that purpose is to discover who created him, determine how his Creator wants him to live, and to build a relationship with him. The opposite of a Muslim is a ‘Kafir.’ The Quran warns one against being a kafir. The word kafir occurs over 150 times in the Holy Quran. The word kafir refers to something that is covered up or concealed. For instance, a farmer is also called kafir in the Arabic language–because a farmer covers seeds in the earth. The Qu ran uses the word kafir to describe a disbeliever because a kafir is one that is insincere in their life; deliberately rejecting the truth which they covered despite knowing its truth. A kafir is also someone that refuses to question the beliefs taught to them during their childhood. They blindly follow their forefathers without thinking, reflecting and pondering over their beliefs. They do not search for the truth. The word kafir in the west is usually translated to an infidel which is not the proper definition. The word infidel means someone who does not believe in God, whereas a kafir is someone that denies, conceals, or refuses the truth. A kafir is someone that rejects the truth or knows the truth but refuses to act upon it. A disbeliever is also someone that is ungrateful; who lives, hide, or cover in the darkness of ignorance. Islam does not teach to hate non-Muslims. Islam came to bring dignity to all human beings. The Quran explicitly states that the children of Adam are honored. God has given respect to all sons of Adam which would include every human. If God gives them respect, we certainly need to respect them. God States: "And We have certainly honored the children of Adam and carried them on the land and sea and provided for them of the good things and preferred them over much of what We have created, with [definite] preference" (Quran 17:70) The term 'Children of Adam' which God uses to refer to humanity, excludes any discrimination based on race, color, or gender. Human dignity is universal since all human beings are descendants of Adam. God also commanded His Angels to prostrate themselves in humility before Prophet Adam peace be upon him, the father of humanity, when he was created to elevate the status and honor of humanity. Also, God mentions in the Quran how He has honored the sons of Adams and made them noble by creating them in the best fashion and most perfect forms. "We have certainly created man in the best of stature" (Quran 95:4) God is very explicit in the Quran about treating non-Muslims poorly that even if one's parents are idol worshippers and forcing them to worship false gods, one should not worship those gods but should treat their parents with the utmost respect and love. During the time of our Prophet, Prophet Muhamad peace be upon him was sitting with his companions when a funeral service passed in front of them. Prophet Muhammad stood up. Then, one of his companions ask him, 'why are you standing? This is the funeral service of a Jew' Prophet Muhammad replied, 'Was it not a soul?’ He was teaching his companions that all humans are valuable. Islam teaches that the only real criterion by which one surpasses another is that of piety, God-consciousness in actions, and righteousness. "O mankind, indeed, We have created you from male and female and made you peoples and tribes you may know one another. Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you. Indeed, Allah is Knowing and Acquainted" (Quran 49:13) A Muslim is someone that doesn't make wealth, health and power his or her ultimate aims of in life. Whereas Muslims use these to live; it's not their aim or goal. Muslims have a much bigger aim in life than the gathering of perishable material goods. Since the life of Prophet Muhammad is filled with countless examples that show his status as a role model for humanity for all, including societies and individuals, one can find truths in Prophet Muhammad's life that make up an example for them to follow. His life was full of good manners, superior morality, generously, good habits, politeness, respect, gentleness, noble feelings and wisdom from God, all of which help mankind live a better, peaceful, and more comfortable life full of good. Emulating the Prophet would also help one from falling into error or sin. Prophet Muhammad is the sacred model for humanity to emulate and follow his footsteps as he was sent by God the All-Generous as an example of how one should live his life to the best of his ability. Thus, Muslims study the Biography of the Prophet Muhamad which they call Seerah. Muslims believe the most accessible road to goodness, moral excellence, and success in this life and the afterlife comes through an emulation of the Prophet. Muslims emulate Muhammad's faith, behavior, attitude, manners, patience, compassion, piety, and even daily tasks like the way he ate, drank, slept, interacted with others, etc. The teachings of Prophet Muhamad acts as a mercy and a healing for all of humanity. A Muslim is someone that continually tries to improve him or herself and tries to perfect his manners. Islam stresses the importance of ethical behavior. A Muslim is one that treats his parents, spouse, children, and family kindly. Islam forbids Muslims from mistreating and being unjust to their parents or family and made it compulsory for one to treat them with all goodness and mercy. "And your Lord has decreed that you not worship except Him, and to parents, good treatment. Whether one or both of them reach old age [while] with you, say not to them [so much as], "uff," and do not repel them but speak to them a noble word" (Quran 17:23) Islam incorporates a basic set of rules designed to protect the rights and freedoms of individuals and communities. The Islamic concepts of freedom, human rights, and the ability for one to live in a secure community are embedded in and granted by Islamic law called the Sharia. One of the greatest sins one can commit to Islam is intentionally taking One's life unless it's for a just cause. A Muslim is one that gives charity, helps the needy, the poor, and orphans. Giving to the needy is not just recommended by Islam; it is required of every financially stable Muslim. Zakat (alms-giving) is an obligation for those who have been blessed with wealth from God to respond to those members of the community in need. A Muslim is one that lives with humility and does not live with pride or arrogance. Nor is a Muslim boastful or vainglorious. Islam condemns pride and self-righteousness. "And do not walk upon the Earth exultantly. Indeed, you will never tear the Earth [apart], and you will never reach the mountains in height" (Quran 17:37) Islam teaches Muslims the best way to greet his fellow brother or sister is with the Islamic greeting of 'As-Salam Alaykum' which translates to 'peace be upon you' which grants the other for protection, safety, security, and mercy from evils and faults. The name 'Al-Salam' is one of the names of God in Arabic, so it also means 'May the blessing of His Name (God) descend upon you.' No matter what nationality, ethnicity or color a Muslim brother or sister may be, it is an obligation for one to greet his fellow brother or sister as a family since all Muslims share the belief in One God and the last and final Prophet and Messenger Muhamad. Muslims are obligated to spread the word of Islam to others which is called Da’wah in Arabic. Da’wah translates to mean, ‘to call or to invite’. In the Islamic context, the word refers to calling, conveying, inviting people towards the Message of Islam, towards God, towards the Truth, towards the right path prescribed by the Almighty for all of mankind. The call of Da’wah invites, inclines, and encourages people to voluntarily submit to the Will of Allah, by worshipping Him alone and following His commandments. "Call to the way of your Lord with wisdom and fair preaching, and argue with them in the best manner possible…" (Quran 16:125) Whereas Islam states guidance only comes from God, and no one can embrace Islam except with the permission and will of the Almighty, Muslims are still obligated to convey the message of Islam according to their capacity and circumstance. Muslims also remind, re-educate, and motivate current non-practicing to become better Muslims. According to Allah the Glorious, no one has a better speech than those who engage in calling upon others to his religion and way of life of Islam. The Quran says: "And who is better in speech than one who invites to Allah and does righteousness and says, "Indeed, I am of the Muslims" (Quran 41:33) There is no one whose speech is better than that of a person who calls people to the truth, for he is their guide to their Creator and Lord who removes people from their darkness of misguidance into the light of faith.

It has been a strange week of gestures and symbols. Theresa May and Nicola Sturgeon met in Glasgow, agreeing to disagree, before the Scottish Parliament went on to support a request to approve a second referendum on independent. That vote, carried by 69 to 59 as the Scottish Greens supported the SNP, was immediately followed by Mrs May' rejection. The next day she finally wrote her letter resigning the UK from the UE (Article 50), and Ms Sturgeon promptly wrote a letter to Mrs May asking for a vote (Section 30). Her office even issued a helpful photo to match the Prime Minister's. Intrigued? Podcast host Derek Bateman invited Yes blogger James Kelly of ScotGoesPop! to discuss what it all means.

Michael Berkeley's guest this week is the filmmaker, writer and playwright Mike Leigh, who began his career in the theatre and with TV dramas such as 'Abigail's Party' and 'Nuts in May', and went to to produce a string of original, award-winning films including 'Life is Sweet', 'Career Girls', the Gilbert and Sullivan biopic 'Topsy Turvy', 'Naked', 'Secrets and Lies', 'Happy Go Lucky', 'Vera Drake', and most recently, 'Another Year'. Many of his films involve an element of improvisation, and Mike Leigh has launched the careers of an impressive array of distinguished British actors, including Alison Steadman. Brenda Blethyn, David Thewlis, Sally Hawkins, Liz Smith and Jane Horrocks. His play 'Ecstasy' is currently enjoying a West End revival. Mike Leigh's choices begin with two extracts by Gilbert and Sullivan. He starts with a comic duet from 'Ruddigore' (I once was a very abandoned person)l, and goes on to 'The World is but a broken toy' from 'Princess Ida', which he loves for its sentimental charm. Mike Leigh sees Mozart's 'Cosi fan tutte' as essentially a comic opera, and has selected the gorgeous trio 'Soave sia il vento' from Act I. Then comes another facet of comic opera - the Doll's Song from Act II of Offenbach's 'The Tales of Hoffmann', which he used as the background to the brothel scene in 'Topsy Turvy'. There's also the original 1928 recording of the Ballad of Mack the Knife from Weill/Brecht's 'Threepenny Opera', an extract from a film score by Shostakovich, Jeanne Moreau singing 'Le Tourbillon de la vie' from Truffaut's famous film 'Jules et Jim'; 'Blue in Green' from Miles Davis' 'Kind of Blue', and finally the Rondo from Beethoven's Violin Concerto (Mike Leigh used Beethoven to great effect in 'Abigail's Party').

Of the estimated 70 million deaths attributed to World War two, 30 million died on the Russian front. Of those, as many as 4 million Soviet soldiers are still "missing in action". These men - more than the entire population of Ireland or New Zealand - are still unaccounted for. Despite all the official rhetoric on Victory Day, many in power today would rather not contemplate the fate of these men. They lie forgotten and unrecognised by Russia's top brass and the state. But as Lucy Ash discovers, a growing number of volunteers, armed with spades and metal detectors, are now searching for the soldiers. Seventy years after World War II, they feel compelled to look for their remains. Olga Ivishina, a journalist with the BBC Russian Service from the city of Kazan, belongs to this Diggers Movement. While many young Russians professionals spend their holidays on beaches in Thailand, Olga gives up her free time to camp in the forest. Many days she has to wade waist-deep through mud, sometimes in pouring rain, to find the bodies of these fallen soldiers. Ilya Prokofiev, one of the most experienced diggers, is scathing about what he calls the 'cult' of the Unknown Soldier. "Officials pay tribute at the eternal flame monument every 9th May', and I tell them: 'You're the ones who made this soldier nameless, what are you proud of? Have you no conscience? This soldier had a family, he had children, he had a surname, a name and patronymic, he had a life, he had a love of his own. What are you proud of?".
A Way with Words — language, linguistics, and callers from all over
[This episode first aired January 19th, 2008.]Does your family use a special word you've never heard anywhere else? A funny name for 'the heel of a loaf of bread,' perhaps, or for 'visiting relatives who won't leave.' In this week's episode, Martha and Grant discuss 'family words,' and Martha reveals the story behind her own family's secret word, 'fubby.'Why do we say that someone who's pregnant is 'knocked up'? The hit movie starring Katherine Heigl and Seth Rogen has a caller wondering about this term.A man whose last name is McCoy wants a definitive answer about the origin of the expression 'the real McCoy.' He's been told it comes from the name of turn-of-the-century boxing champ Kid McCoy. Is that really the case?A Michigander wants to know about the difference between 'titled' and 'entitled.' She'd assumed that a book is 'titled' Gone with The Wind and a person is 'entitled' to compensation for something. Grant and Martha explain it's a little more complicated than that.Quiz Guy Greg Pliska presents a quiz about 'False Plurals,' based on the old riddle: What plural word becomes singular when you put the letter 's' at the end of it? (Hint: Think of a brand of tennis racket, as well as the former name of a musical artist before he changed it back again.)Quick, which is faster? Something that happens 'instantly' or that happens 'instantaneously'? A caller wants to know if there's any difference between the two. A Brazilian has been researching why actors use the unlikely expression 'break a leg' to wish each other well before going on stage. He suspects it's a borrowing of a German phrase that means, 'May you break your neck and your leg,' but he's not sure.A caller who lived in the Bay Area during the 1960s remembers using the word 'loosecap' to describe someone who's 'not playing with a full deck.' He wonders if he and his friends are the only ones to use it, as in, 'Don't be such a loosecap!'This week's 'Slang This!' contestant tries to decipher the slang phrases 'dance at two weddings' and 'put the big pot in the little pot.' She also shares her own favorite slang terms for 'crumb crusher,' 'rug rat' and 'ankle biter.' By the way, you can read Grant's essay about slang terms for small children, 'Sprogs in a Poop Factory,' here. His column about language appears every two weeks in The Malaysia Star newspaper.A caller fears that the term 'Indian giver' is politically incorrect, and wants an alternative to teach her children. A Princeton University student wonders if his school can lay claim to being the first to apply the Latin word 'campus' to the grounds of an institution of higher learning.By the way, if you want to read about more family words, check out Paul Dickson's book, 'Family Words: A Dictionary of the Secret Language of Families.'Here's hoping all of you are happy fubbies!--Get your language question answered on the air!
