There's plenty going on as Dave B and Dave D return to your ears with episode 44 of Daftaboutcraft. We kick off in traditional fashion with Brew To Me, where we try a beer from a brewery we haven't sampled before. This time we're putting the spotlight on Broadtown Brewery and Spookton Brew Co and we're joined by Jason and Jon for an insight into these breweries from Wiltshire and the Wirral.Sam from Copper Beech Brew Co in Kidderminster is back for the latest Brewer's Wife, and there's an amusing tale to tell about a new vehicle and how life as part of a brewery is never altogether straightforward. We put the Hype Or Tripe focus on a big-hitting stout made by those wizards in the East Midlands at Reckless Dweeb Brew Co and Bang The Elephant Brewing Co. We saw the pictures from when this was made and it looked a particularly messy session with the brewkit. But how does the end product taste? In Any Other Beersness we welcome back Anthony Barrett from Twisted Wheel Brew Co to give us an update on the brewery he resurrected from extinction at the end of last year, while there's an interesting taste test going on as well - from cask legends Timothy Taylor's. The podcast is sponsored by Hops At Home, and Andy Marsh appears on each episode with news on his latest stock and an offer for you to take advantage of. As an illustration of the extraordinary plasticity of our species, we examine the story of Zana, whose genetics, described in a 2021 paper, establish her as a member of a modern human population. Zana, who was captured living wild in the Caucasus Mountains in the 19th century and held in captivity for forty years, was two meters tall, covered in hair, superhumanly strong, lacked speech, slept naked outside all winter, could crush bones with her teeth, swam in rivers during their full spring flood, and could outrun a horse. She was described by the many locals who were familiar with her as an Almasty, or Sasquatch. Building on early biological descriptions of two species of human and the contemporary evidence on feral children, we postulate that our own developmentally delayed, self-domesticated form of humanity has—as is the case among other species for whom developmental change has been central to their evolution—a developmentally accelerated, wild form, induced by a lack of care in early development, and that reproducing populations of such individuals are what we know as Sasquatch.

In the Himalayan foothills, it's called a Yeti or abominable snowman. In Russia they say Almasty. In Cazar, NC they call him Knobby. The rest of North America refers to them as Bigfoot or Sasquatch. Less than a decade ago, many who believed in aliens were called crazy or fanatic, paranoid, even. But now the United States actually has a SpaceForce dedicated to protecting our planet. So is it really hard to believe that there is a species of man-like creatures living in the wild and remote forests of North America? Let's sort through all the blurry photos, and shaky video and see if we can find some convincing evidence.   EVERYTHING TRUE CRIME GUYS:   https://linktr.ee/Truecrimeguysproductions Patreon.com/truecrimeguys Merch: truecrimeguys.threadless.com   Sources: https://youtu.be/EppoBdFUyYE https://www.lesstroud.ca/survivorman-bigfoot/ https://youtu.be/b52-6Eg2Ajo https://royalsocietypublishing.org/doi/10.1098/rspb.2014.0161 https://www.science.org/content/article/bigfoot-samples-analyzed-lab https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/bigfoot-finally-proved-false-300262926.html https://youtu.be/WWmKQU4Hg34

Every race, civilization, and generation seem to tell of the ones who mask their presence from the world of man. Large upright bipedal and covered from head to toe in hair that blends them into the shadows. In Nepal, they are known as Yeti, in China, the Yeren, Australia tells of the Yowie, The Ucumar from Argentina, The Almasty of Russia, Agogwe of East Africa, and countless others claim their position in the world that borders our own. Here in the United States we tell of the Sasquatch, more popularly known as Bigfoot. Thousands of reports are filed every year through law enforcement or private tracking companies such as the BFRO. But the world refuses to recognize them as real. So how do you think they would feel if evidence was presented that claimed there are more than one species of Bigfoot here in the United States, each with their own population large enough to allow for breeding? Scientists discover many new creatures each year, and they’re not all tiny bugs and sea worms, there are big lizards, monkeys and lemurs and sloths, dolphins and rays and species of deer and in 2010 a new species of clouded leopard. All of them existed in our world and we mostly had no idea they were there. Some of these creatures appear to us by chance, they show themselves when we were looking for something different, in places we maybe didn’t expect. Others are searched for more intentionally. Perhaps there existed stories or tales of them from remote villages, or we found traces of evidence from a creature we didn’t yet recognise. Many of them take years and years of painstaking research to finally discover, teams of specialists go into the wild season after season, chasing down leads and reviewing hundreds of thousands of images from trail cameras in the hope of catching a glimpse of the illusive beasts. Not too long ago, a team of specialists knew that Canadian black bears had been coming south, over the border and making homes around the forests of the Pacific North West. Hair and scat was found, very occasionally, but it took the team of highly trained trackers and experts more than five years to actually see them for the first time. Zoological journalist and author Richard Freeman has dedicated his entire life to tracking down some of the more illusive creatures that may, or may not, share the planet with us. As a cryptozoologist, Richard has penned 8 books and holds the role of Zoological Director for the Centre for Fortean Zoology. He has expeditioned to some of the most remote places on the planet in search of cryptids like the Yeti, the Orang Pendek and the Almasty, and made huge strides in his pursuit of the once-presumed extinct Thylacine. Richard joins me tonight to discuss his work and to tell us why we may not have to try that hard to Peer Beyond The Veil. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/peerbeyondtheveil/support

All around the world people claim to see a strange, upright walking creature in the deep woods and mountains. People claim that these creatures are as big as 10ft(3m) tall, covered in hair and look like a giant man/ape and are extremely elusive. There are many videos and testimonies of peoples encounters with the creature called, Sasquatch, Bigfoot, Almasty, Yeti, Skunk Ape and more, but still no 100% conclusive video or proof. Hundreds of foot prints have been found all over the world but no flesh and blood animal. Is there any truth to the legend or just elaborate hoaxes and over active minds? This week Braden, Zel and Dan Discuss the possibility of such a creature existing in the fast unexplored wildernesses of the world.
