Under the fascist stylings of Mussolini, the nation teeters on the brink of war. Using (dark) arts and crafts, lye, distilled water, an ax, an unhealthy dollop of OCD, and a belief system doing some massive heavy lifting, Cianciulli has almost everything she needs. She's missing one ingredient, but it's nothing she can't borrow from her neighbors.Join us by the fire for potent drinks filled with tiny umbrellas and a cannabis combo platter that will keep you tripping over your own tongue, as JR comes clean with the crew about Leonarda Cianciulli, the Soap Maker of Correggio - or Bubbles, if you're nasty.*No tea cakes were involved in the making of this episode.

Sentenza confermata poi in Cassazione. Leonarda Cianciulli was born in Montella, Avellino on November 14th, 1893.In 1917, Cianciulli married a registry office clerk, Raffaele Pansardi. Her parents did not approve of the marriage, as they had planned to marry her to someone else. Cianciulli claimed that when this happened, the couple moved away. Because of this, her mother cursed them. Cianciulli had seventeen pregnancies during her marriage, but lost three of the children to miscarriage; ten more died in their youth. She was heavily protective of the four surviving children. Her fears were fueled by a warning she had received some time earlier from a fortune teller, who said that she would marry and have children, but that all of the children would die. Of course, she immediately thought it had been the curse her mother put on her and her husband. In 1939, Cianciulli’s eldest son, Giuseppe, was to join the Italian army in preparation for World War II. Giuseppe was her favorite child, and she was determined to protect him at all costs. She came to the conclusion that in order to keep him safe, she needed human sacrifices. She said this was told to her by another psychic. She found her victims in three middle-aged women, all neighbors. You may be wondering where the title for this infamous (and first) Italian female serial killer came from... A quote from Winston Churchill says that success is stumbling from failure to failure with no loss of enthusiasm. It is also the same for leadership. In an ideal world, a great leader is 100% ready to handle the day to day challenges that arise and lead their team with confidence. In reality, however, this rarely happens as most leaders receive very little leadership training before stepping into their first leadership role. On today’s podcast, Chris Cianciulli chats with Alicia Couri about leadership and how sometimes one eases into the role through trial and error. Chris is the Founder of CONNEXX and the Creator of the My Mistakexx Podcast.

Opening up to turn of the twentieth century Italy, this story follows the very superstitious Leonarda Cianciulli. Balancing her love for her children, her mental illness, and her very spiritual mindset, Cianciulli killed three women of her neighborhood as human sacrifices. These are 4 Horrific Killers You’ve Never Heard About. 4. Vlado Taneski In 2005, a local woman, Mitra Siljanovska, from Kičevo, Macedonia, was reported missing. When her body was found, it was revealed she had been raped, beaten then strangled with a phone cord. Her body was dismembered, wrapped in a plastic bag then placed in a dump in Kičevo. As luck would have it, it was freelance crime reporter, Vlado Taneski’s hometown. Taneski wrote an impressive story about the murder, wowing readers with detail and information. 3. Arthur Shawcross It all began with a criminal streak of arson. Borne in Maine in 1945, Arthur Shawcross grew up in a bad family situation. According to him, he was molested by his aunt at 9, experimented with homosexuality and bestiality by 11 and had sexual relations with his sister in high school. Later he joined the army and claimed to have seen combat in Vietnam when in truth he didn’t. He later married twice. And it was his second wife who said Shawcross had a penchant for starting fires, and derived “sexual enjoyment” from it. 2. Leonarda Cianciulli Known as the “Soap-Maker of Correggio”, Leonarda Cianciulli from Italy is one ruthless woman. Growing up in Montella di Avellino, Cianciulli had an unhappy childhood. She received little love from her mother because she was born as a result of a rape. As a young woman, she had her palm read and was told she would marry but all of her children would die. When she got married, it was to a local registry clerk, but her parents strongly disapproved of the union. She believed that during their marriage her mother cursed her and doomed her to a life of misery. 1. Rodney Alcala Born as Rodrigo Jacques Alcala Buquor, his family was originally from San Antonio, Texas before their father moved them to Mexico in 1951. But three years later, his father left the family and his mother took him and his siblings to Los Angeles. At 17, he joined the U.S. Army, serving as a clerk, but was later discharged after a nervous breakdown. He had gone AWOL and hitchhiked his way home. He then went to UCLA School of Fine Arts after his discharge.
I walked on set for my first episode of Bar Rescue and was greeted by an intense smiling face.

Born in Montella Italy in the 1920’s. As a young child tried to commit suicide twice. She married Raffaele Pansardi and in 1930 they moved to Correggio where she opened a small shop. She was very popular and well-respected within her neighborhood. She had 17 pregnancies, three of which resulted in miscarriages and ten died as kids. Only four survived to adulthood. In 1939 her eldest son Giuseppe, was to be enlisted in the military to serve in WWII. Giuseppe was her favorite child and Cijanciulli wanted to save him. She went to see a fortune teller to figure out how to save him who told her “In your right hand I see prison and in your left a criminal asylum.” She took this to mean that she needed human sacrifice to save her son. Her first victim was Faustina Setti. She invited Setti over under the guise of finding her a husband. Cianciulli had Setti write letters to her family, telling them that she would be leaving to visit her potential husband. Then, she subdued Setti with drugged wine and murdered her with an axe. She cut Setti into 9 pieces and gathered her blood. Below is Cianciulli’s statement for what she did to the body: “I threw the pieces into a pot, added seven kilos of caustic soda, which I had bought to make soap, and stirred the mixture until the pieces dissolved in a thick, dark mush that I poured into several buckets and emptied in a nearby septic tank. As for the blood in the basin, I waited until it had coagulated, dried it in the oven, ground it and mixed it with flour, sugar, chocolate, milk, and eggs, as well as a bit of margarine, kneading all the ingredients together. I made lots of crunchy tea cakes and served them to the ladies who came to visit, though Giuseppe and I also ate them.” Cianciulli then took Setti’s life savings, which she would have received for setting the woman up with a husband. Victim two was Francesca Soavi. Cianciulli took the same steps as she did with Setti- she told Soavi that she had found her a teaching job, had her write letters and then murdered her and baked her into teacakes. Her mistake was with her third victim, Virginia Cacioppo. Cacioppo was a retired soprano and Cianciulli promised her a job. Her mistake was that Cacioppo’s sister in law was curious and caught on, telling the police what she knew and eventually leading them to Cianciulli’s door. She denied it until the police began to suspect her son, Giuseppe, at which point she confessed. After a short trial she was sentenced to 33 years and spent three in an asylum. During her final year in prison she died of a cerebral apoplexy. This was in 1970 at age 79. A link to the John Oliver The Wax and the Furious.
