Eric Holsapple is an expert on mindful leadership. He shares his wisdom with us noting the importance of presence, especially as a leader. And that's why I invited him to One Sharp Sword. It's important work. When you can be mindful and truly present, especially in our distraction-based world, you make a difference in the people around you, your organization, and potentially the world. Eric invites us to reflect internally and think about the vision we have of ourselves and for our future. He notes that to create a different future, we might need a different self-concept and that is created through habits. Key points: • Mindfulness is focus. If I'm judging, I'm not focused; I've already made a decision. • Don't just let your body carry your head to a meeting. Integrate. • Mindfulness becomes a culture (a way of being) AND a strategy. • You're not your job, you have a job. • Self-esteem can come from humility, not from positional power. • Intention moves things. • Profit is the result of purpose. Be present and practice mindfulness… Seriously, practice. Take just two minutes to allow yourself to focus on something, anything, and not let distractions intrude. Find Eric Holsapple on LinkedIn. Welcome back to Making Bank. On today's episode, we have a compilation of previous episodes with Eric Holsapple, Allison Maslan, Fred Joyal, Kute Blackson, Robert Overweg, Tony Bradshaw, Shaahin Cheyene and in this episode you will hear tips and tricks from top entrepreneurs about how to have a successful mindset. (2:52) Eric Holsapple  If you want the company to be mindful, it can't be without the CEO. A CEO needs to be there to be mindful and endorse the company. But the downside of this is that it pulls down too much. CEOs tend generally to do too much. So they need to offload a bunch of things so that they can be present and more aware for their company.   (7:44) Allison Maslan When you really come to the understanding of how to build a team or manage a company, what happens is that you start to free yourself from the day to day hurdles. You'll also start to see that ideas and massive breakthroughs for your company will happen when you are away from it. So make sure to take breaks and not let it be the center of your life everyday.    (11:38) Fred Joyal If you're trying to never fail, that will be your greatest failure. So when you act boldly without confidence, it builds your confidence. You don't have to be confident. You just have to be bold and just commit to acting and the confidence will come from the successful boldness or even from trying and failing.   (15:26) Kute Blackson Part of surrender is the willingness to allow life to lead you, to allow life to guide you. The mind is always trying to know what everything means. We're always trying to figure out the future. We're trying to figure out what's going to happen. But rather than trying to just project yourself into the future allow yourselves to be guided. Allow life to lead. Allow life to guide you.   (19:49) Robert Overweg Unravel your thinking patterns, your fixed mindset. Create space in your mind and then in your organizations. Connect to your intrinsic motivation and find what energizes you to create that proper foundation. Keep trying to find new perspectives that can help you move forward.   (27:25) Tony Bradshaw You need to get attached to people that are going in the direction you need to go. If you want to be a multimillionaire, you need to find multimillionaires to hang out with. You need to find mentors. You need to get around people that are already there. The thing is when you get caught in their jetstream you will find that this is much easier than being independent trying to figure it out on your own.   (32:32) Shaahin Cheyene Whether you think you can or you can't, you are right. At the end of the day, it really comes down to your mindset and your unwavering belief in yourself, especially when other people don't believe in you. You need to believe in yourself if you ever hope to succeed. You are your biggest friend and supporter. If you say you are going to succeed, then you will.   Links: @livinginthegap501c3  @allisonmaslan  @fredjoyal  @kuteblackson  @tonybradshaw_  @shaahincheyene

Society tells us that happiness requires material possessions: a car, house, money. But in reality, you can be happy without those things. It's about the journey rather than the destination. Dr. Eric Holsapple learned this lesson after he chased what he thought would make him fulfilled - only to find himself lost and without purpose. But after some time had passed, he discovered himself. He realized what his purpose was - to serve the people of this world and give back to the communities. His goal is to change the world by helping everyone who needs it. It's almost like a ripple effect; when you help one person, they'll go on and do things for others too, making it a better place for us all. Do you want to find your purpose? Eric has a varied background as a successful entrepreneur and real estate CEO, but his real passion is merging business and mindfulness. Throughout his career, Eric learned that delegating and trusting others was the key to their growth and his freedom, leading him to found Living In The Gap, a program that teaches business professionals, entrepreneurs, and CEOs principles of leadership and business growth anchored in mindfulness practices. What problem do you solve? Eric is offering mindfulness or mindset habits that will help you reduce stress to increase your focus and the bottom line in your business. Show Notes: We can use mindfulness to move us out of divisiveness by using focus. Are we really listening or do we already have our own conversation going on with our thoughts already in place? Show people you care and that you don't see them as just a vehicle to get something.   Employers are waking up to the fact that remote workers need to know you care. When the company cares, the employee is less likely to leave Mindfulness can also be explained as focus.  Focus (mindfulness) means you can get more done in less time and with less distraction and less stress and more production. We have so much coming at us today that we've stopped thinking about things. We are losing our focus. Service is gratitude in action. Putting your mind into a gratitude mindset is of great benefit. Being of service makes a positive difference and people notice and it connects you in the community. Start small with mindfulness and grow from there. People are more excited about their workplace if there is a greater purpose. Success is a mindset, not a destination. Eric Holsapple's Recharge Round What habit do you think has led to success in your life? Being mindful! If you had one do-over, what would it be? If he had discovered mindfulness earlier, he would have been a better employer earlier.   Connect with Dr. Eric Holsapple: Dr. Eric Holsapple‘s website: livinginthegap.org  LinkedIn Facebook Youtube Instagram Learn more about Gary's Mastermind group at goascend.biz/mastermind/ Get your Daily Dose of Positive at SimplePositiveActions.com

He also has a Ph.D. in Economics and has lectured on real estate at Colorado State University for 20 years. Eric has been practicing yoga and meditation for 30 years and has developed a unique perspective on how merging business and mindfulness can be a catalyst in changing lives. Dr. Eric Holsapple is the Founder and Lead Facilitator of Living In The Gap. Through his popular workshops, he has been able to teach countless CEOs and professionals a different way to operate mindfully while improving their bottom line.   This week on the podcast, Eric talks about his entrepreneurial journey and why he believes mindfulness is essential for your life as an entrepreneur. He explains mindfulness and breaks down his process of becoming a mindful leader.   Listen to Josh and Eric discuss mindfulness:   (3:21) Eric's Start As An Entrepreneur Even from a young age, Eric had a knack for business. So by the time he finished college and went out to work, he was almost immediately successful. However, he wasn't doing too well on the personal side of things — he had completely let go of himself. Finally, his decision to diet and get in shape helped him find meditation and yoga. Once he noticed the benefits of being mindful, he was able to start Living In The Gap and developed a nine-month program that showed people how to merge mindfulness and business.   (6:22) Finding Where Your Passion And Abilities Meet Eric credits some of his success to being lucky, but the majority of his success comes from the fact that he was able to find out what he wanted to do. Eric was able to identify what he didn't want to do with his life and capitalized on what he was good at. To succeed, you have to find your element — where your passion meets your abilities. Find that intersection where your capabilities allow you to do what you're passionate about, and then you'll be able to live with more purpose and peace of mind.   (10:51) Defining Mindfulness Mindfulness isn't necessarily meditation; instead, meditation is just one of the methods of being mindful. Mindfulness is the process of slowing down and letting your mind quiet down. Today almost everything in our lives promotes keeping our minds active. However, science says that most people feel joy and peace once they've quieted down their minds. To be mindful, you don't need to spend hours meditating, just find anything that allows you to switch your mind off for a few minutes at a time.    (15:31) The Process Of Mindful Leadership The first step to being mindful is slowing down and clearing the clutter. Start by giving your mind a few minutes to quiet down and then gradually increase that over time. The next step is to plant seeds of what you want to do. Once you've cleared your mind, you'll be more aware of the direction you want to go in life. Spend your time envisioning what you really want to do with your life and find a purpose worth living for.   (18:39) Narrowing Down Your Vision Our visions tend to be quite extensive, and there's never enough time or resources to act on all of them. That's why we need to narrow down our visions to something more attainable. It's good to know where you want to be in 10 or 15 years, but it's more important to know your plan for the next year. Focus on smaller and more achievable objectives and work on transforming your life more meaningfully and intentionally.   (21:51) Eric's Book: Profit With Presence Eric has been working on a book called Profit With Presence that will share the story of his journey and the 12 pillars of mindful leadership with the business community. The book will be available for preorder around November this year and will release in the first quarter of 2023. Welcome to Episode 224 of Building My Legacy. In this podcast we talk with Eric Holsapple who has merged mindfulness and business and found that, in all cases, business has improved. Eric shares with us his own journey of success: how he started in real estate and how he came to found Living in the Gap. This non-profit offers workshops to teach CEOs and professionals how to operate mindfully while improving their bottom line. “I don't see anything in mindfulness which is contradictory to business,” Eric tells us, because mindfulness leads to focus, which is what we're missing in business today. So if you want to know:– Why you need to get some separation from the 6,000 thoughts you have each day– The problem with looking to someone else to tell you what you should be thinking– How a one-hour walk every day can slow down your mind and help you really be present– The biggest challenge in bringing mindfulness to a business– The importance of finding your purpose — and where to look for it– How to get started becoming more mindful About Eric HolsappleEric Holsapple is a successful developer and entrepreneur who has used mindfulness to transform his life and business and now helps others do the same. With a PhD in economics, Eric has been a real estate CEO and developer for nearly 40 years, lectured in real estate at Colorado State University for 20 years, and practiced yoga and meditation for 30 years. His new book, Profit With Presence, will be distributed early in 2023 and can be pre-ordered on Amazon later this year.
