Luke 2 is more than a Christmas reading. Pastor Ron Meyer shows how “taxing times” force us into God's positioning. Bethlehem looked illogical. The manger looked like failure. Yet God was fulfilling prophecy, providing a Passover over hell, and sending provision before anyone saw it. This message calls leaders and disciples to drop self-reliance, embrace obedience, and walk by what is written—not by sight.Scriptures referenced: Luke 2:1–7; Micah 5:2; Psalm 22; Psalm 42; 2 Corinthians 5:7; Isaiah 64:4 / 1 Corinthians 2:9; Matthew 2:13–23; Matthew 7:21–23; Hebrews 11:1.Chapters00:00 Intro: Instant Classic + Theme00:30 “Moving things around” in hard times02:30 Masks off. If you're in the thick of eating disorder recovery right now and wondering if it's ever going to get easier, this episode is for you. Maybe you had a rough week with food. Maybe you're exhausted from fighting the same battles in your head every single day. Maybe you're wondering if recovery is even worth it because right now it just feels so incredibly hard. In this episode, Lindsey gets real about hard times in recovery and shares a truth that will change how you see your struggle: there are only three possible outcomes when you're going through something hard, and what you choose determines everything about your recovery and your future. This isn't a "just think positive" pep talk. This is truth-telling, no-nonsense guidance about why hard times don't last forever—but only if you refuse to stay stuck in them. If you're ready to stop waiting for recovery to magically get easier and start building the resilience you need to actually get better, this episode will show you how. What You'll Learn: The only 3 possible outcomes when you're in a hard season of recovery (and why understanding this changes everything) Why quitting doesn't actually end the hard time—it just makes it last longer The difference between "it getting better" and "you getting better" (and why only one leads to lasting freedom) How to stop waiting for circumstances to change and start actively participating in your own healing Why hard times only end when you decide they end—not when you feel ready How to make decisions from your healed self instead of your wounded self What it really means to move through hard times instead of staying stuck in them The 3 Outcomes of Hard Times: Outcome #1: You Quit Quitting looks like going back to restriction because it feels safer. It's skipping meals after a bad body image day. It's choosing what's familiar over what will set you free. When you quit moving forward, the hard time doesn't end—it just becomes your new normal. Outcome #2: It Gets Better Sometimes circumstances change and the external situation improves. But if YOU don't change? You're just waiting for the next hard time to come along. You'll always be one comment away from spiraling, one trigger away from old patterns. Outcome #3: You Get Better This is where your power lives. This is where transformation happens. When YOU get better, you learn to nourish your body even when you don't feel deserving. You challenge food rules. You sit with emotions instead of controlling them through food or exercise. You make decisions from your healed self. Key Takeaways: ✨ Hard times don't last forever—but they also don't end just because you want them to. They end when you choose to move through them. ✨ There are only 3 outcomes: you quit, it gets better, or you get better. Only one leads to lasting freedom. ✨ When you quit, the hard time doesn't disappear—it just continues and becomes your normal. ✨ Relying on circumstances to improve keeps you at the mercy of triggers and external situations. ✨ You getting better means actively participating in your own healing, not just hoping things change. ✨ The hard time becomes your identity when you refuse to move forward—it becomes who you are instead of something you're moving through. ✨ Choosing to get better is hard, but staying stuck is harder. Wake up a year from now in the same place or choose to do the work now. Powerful Quotes from This Episode: "Hard times don't last forever. They don't. But only if you refuse to stay stuck in them." "Hard times end when you decide they end. Not when circumstances are perfect. Not when you feel ready. Not when it's easy. They end when you decide to keep moving forward even when it's hard." "When you quit, the hard time doesn't actually end. It just continues. It stretches out. It becomes your new normal." "When YOU get better, it doesn't matter as much what the circumstances are. When YOU get better, you have tools to work through triggers." "You don't have to stay here. You don't have to live in this hard time forever. But you do have to choose to move through it." "The hard time you're in right now? It's not forever. It's not your ending. It's not your identity. It's just a chapter. And you get to write what comes next." Real Talk: This episode delivers no-nonsense truth: the eating disorder wants you to believe you'll always feel this way, but that's a lie. You don't have to stay stuck. But you do have to choose outcome #3—to get better. That means showing up when you don't feel like it, doing the opposite of what the disorder tells you, and trusting the process even when you can't see results yet. What's harder than doing the work? Waking up years from now still fighting the same battles because you never chose to get better. Questions to Ask Yourself: Am I quitting on myself in this moment? Am I waiting for circumstances to change, or am I choosing to change? Am I making decisions from my healed self or my wounded self? What would it look like for ME to get better, not just for IT to get better? Am I refusing to move forward and making this hard time my identity? Ready to Choose Outcome #3? If you're ready to stop staying stuck and start getting better, you don't have to do it alone. This year has been brutal for almost everyone I know. Business hiccups, family dramas, even literal “truck hits you in the face” moments. I've been there—feeling unheard, shouldering old baggage, resisting change until life forced me to let go. Those hard hits can crush you… or they can be the catalyst for your biggest growth. But there's one mindset shift most people miss that turns chaos into opportunity. Today on the podcast, I sit down with my friend Brad Bizjack to unpack why resistance is your greatest roadblock, and how to flip it into fuel for your next breakthrough. Listen in and discover why accepting “what is” gives you real power to change things, the metaphorical backpack weighing down every step of your climb, how to unearth hidden beliefs that keep you playing small, the single question that exposes unexpressed pain—and frees your energy, and a simple framework to raise your emotional vibration and match your goals. If you've felt stuck, overwhelmed, or just tired of muscling through the same old challenges, this episode is your roadmap out of resistance and into momentum. Ready to stop resisting and start thriving? Tune in now. And if you're serious about leveling up, don't miss Brad's free five-day Success Accelerator, where he'll guide you through these steps in real time. Jodi O. Brown has lived the kind of story most of us hope we never face. What began as a picture-perfect life shifted overnight when she learned the symptoms she had been ignoring were signs of a brain tumor wrapped around her brainstem. One surgery became three. Five days in hospital became thirty-five in neurocritical care. The journey would grow to twenty-six surgeries, with complications that could have shattered anyone's sense of self. Instead, Jodi found a different path. She learned to take life one minute at a time, to find meaning inside the mess, and to choose the next small step when the finish line felt impossible to see. In this conversation on Becoming Unshakeable, Jodi introduces the concept of anti-fragility, illustrating its application to human life as well as to systems and economies. Resilience helps us bounce back. Anti-fragility enables us to grow stronger in the face of stressors, setbacks, and uncertainty. Jodi explains how she closed the door on one life and opened another with new rules, new rhythms, and a daily practice of grace with deadlines. Feel the pain, name it, and then set a time to stand up again, even if the first step is tiny. Sometimes, it feels like committing to attending a class where you cut paper shapes, because having someone to be accountable to can pull you through when your willpower runs dry. We also step into a new season unfolding in real time. Jodi became an empty nester yesterday. The quiet is startling. She walks us through the emotions of a house that suddenly sounds different and the choice to reimagine marriage, travel, and daily rituals with hope. Her definition of becoming unshakeable fits the heart of this show. Adversity is not an interruption to your story. It is your story. The practices you bring to ordinary days prepare you for the extraordinary ones. Faith underpins her steadiness. Hope keeps her moving. She shares lessons from a childhood shaped by leadership teachings and a father who modeled genuine care, the kind you feel when a leader knows your name and your story. Every interaction is an opportunity to change a life. That line threads through everything here. It is the reason people follow, the reason cultures feel safe, and the reason care will never go out of style. If you are barely holding on, Jodi's message is simple and actionable. Permit yourself to mourn what you lost. Set a clear deadline to rise. Make one small commitment to another human and keep it. One step can change the direction of a hard season. One light can change the way a room feels. Jodi chooses to be that light, and she invites you to do the same. Stay to the end for a generous gift. Jodi offers a complimentary e-copy of her memoir, “The Sun Still Shines,” for listeners who email her. It is an honest account of pain and purpose, and a reminder that even in the hardest chapters, the light is still there, waiting to be seen.

In this episode of The Digital Executive, host Brian Thomas speaks with Ben Reinberg, founder and CEO of Alliance CGC, a commercial real estate investment company with a $500M portfolio and a leading footprint in the U.S. medical office sector. Ben is also the author of Hard Assets and Hard Money for Hard Times, where he introduces the Hard Asset Empire Blueprint—a framework for building generational wealth through real estate.Ben shares his journey from CPA to entrepreneur, inspired by billionaire families who built fortunes through hard assets. He explains why savings alone can't secure lasting wealth, and how real estate offers durability, discipline, and growth potential even in chaotic times. He also emphasizes mindset, resilience, and the importance of surrounding yourself with the right people as critical parts of wealth-building.The conversation explores leadership, communication, and the “soft skills” that drive Alliance's culture of trust and growth, as well as how AI and technology—from property management to virtual tours—are reshaping investor relationships and streamlining operations. Ben highlights why time is the most valuable asset, and how embracing innovation ensures Alliance stays ahead in a traditionally slow-to-adapt industry. If you liked what you heard today, please leave us a review - Apple or Spotify. Today, on Karl and Crew, we continued our weekly theme of “abundance out of scarcity” with a discussion about the benefit of godly friendships during tough times. We briefly flipped through 1 Samuel, Chapters 18-20, to see how Jonathan was a friend to David during a tough time. We then had a call segment where we asked our listeners to share a story about a time when God provided them with a friend when they needed them the most. Then Drew Hunter joined us to discuss the beauty and community in godly friendship and how to find it. Drew is the Teaching Pastor of Zionsville Fellowship, where he provides overall leadership, biblical teaching, and serves as an Elder. He graduated from the Moody Bible Institute and the graduate schools of Wheaton College. He also authored the book, “Made for Friendship: The Relationship That Halves Our Sorrows and Doubles Our Joys.” We then had Nick Hall join us to talk about the growth of digital evangelism and how God has called us to rise. Nick is an evangelist and the Founder and President of Pulse Evangelism, an organization that exists to make Jesus known by reaching the lost and unleashing the evangelist. He is also the President and CEO of The Table Coalition, which exists to catalyze partnership within the American Church so that more people know Jesus. Are you unknowingly living through a slow economic decline that could devastate your financial future over the next two decades? In this episode of Ready Your Future, Todd reveals how secular stagnation and gradual economic collapse operate like silent erosion, destroying wealth and opportunity so slowly that most people never realize what's happening until it's too late. Unlike the dramatic recession of 2008 or sudden market crashes that grab headlines, this type of economic slow down unfolds over years and generations, creating a new normal where each generation accepts lower living standards as "just the way things are." Todd examines real-world examples from Rome's centuries-long decline to Japan's Lost Decades, showing how civilizations can experience financial stress and economic stagnation for 30+ years while citizens gradually adapt to diminishing prospects. You'll discover the hidden warning signs of slow economic decline already visible in today's economy, from increasing reliance on credit for basic needs to the rise of gig work as necessity rather than choice. This episode provides actionable strategies for building financial resilience during hard times, including specific steps for recession-proofing your career, diversifying income streams, and creating wealth that survives decades of economic uncertainty. Whether you're experiencing financial stress now or want to prepare for the challenging years ahead, this episode equips you with the knowledge and tools to thrive during one of the most significant economic transitions in modern history. This episode comes from a heavy place in my heart. When I heard the shocking news of Charlie Kirk's shooting and also said goodbye to my dear friend Mike, the weight of grief, division, and loss felt overwhelming. And yet, in the middle of it, God whispered a reminder from 2 Chronicles: “If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray, I will heal their land.”In today's episode of You Are More, I'm processing what it means to live in a world full of chaos, division, and pain—and still choose to be an agent of light. I share how transformational leaders like Charlie and Mike impacted people simply by the way they showed up, elevated rooms, and changed atmospheres. We'll talk about:Why division and rage can't be the answer—and why unity matters more than everHow grief can point us back to God's presence and goodnessWhat it means to be a “hope dealer” in your home, workplace, and communityPractical ways to let your presence shift atmospheres for the betterWhy living intentionally is the greatest way to honor those we've lostIf you've been feeling overwhelmed by the darkness around you, this is your reminder: you were created to be a light bearer, a joy bringer, and an agent of change. On the latest episode of WTF? (What's Threatening Farmers) with Gary Truitt: U.S. Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins says, “The Golden Age of Agriculture is just around the corner,” but many U.S. farmers are not buying this line. Purdue University research shows there is a major drop in farmer confidence in the future of farming. Corn growers have seen a long-term downturn in the farm economy. In this podcast, WTF host Gary Truitt examines the implications this has for Midwestern family farms and the rural communities where they live. He chats with Dr. Michael Langemeier, Director of the Purdue Center for Commercial Agriculture, as he offers recommendations on how producers can best position their operations to survive this multiyear depression.
In this episode, Brooke Thomas is joined by Sam for a heartfelt conversation about finding and sustaining peace in every season. The episode dives into the routines and disciplines that foster God's peace, from morning prayers of thanksgiving and purpose to intentional moments of surrender throughout the day. Brooke offers encouragement and actionable steps, reminding listeners that peace is a divine promise and protection, available when we lean into trust, surrender control, and invite God into every part of our journey.
