Rest that leads to radical joy is a birthright that we have learned to avoid instead of embrace. We are taught to prove our worth through our hustle, and what better excuse to avoid the space of being present with yourself. Opening to the vulnerability of being present is scary for a variety of reasons, including the shadows we may have to face. The good news is that joy is also there waiting for us to make room for it. Rest is how we make room. In this episode of Mindset Unlimited, I invited Jordan Maney to join me in a conversation about what it looks like to find true rest that leads to radical joy. Some of what we talk about in this episode includes:Meeting yourself where you are with restPerforming self-care vs authentic and connective restActs of resistance and finding a way forward in uncertaintyConnecting to yourself as a starting point for community Thanks for listening! When you seek for sexual fulfillment outside of God's design it will never give you what God designed it to give you.27 “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.' 28 But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart. 29 If your right eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away. DREAM WITH US, and we'll teach you how to interpret them! What does it mean to depose the ego and encounter the dismantling joy of the Self? Ecstatic transformation challenges our understanding of ourselves and breaks the boundaries of ordinary experience, leaving us questioning a lifetime of assumptions. It shatters our ego's illusions of separation, shifting the foundation of our identity. It is the greater solutio where our ego and Self come face to face. This psycho-spiritual process is symbolized in the Dionysiac archetypal themes of death and rebirth through ecstatic states that transcend the rational, intensify emotion, and connect us to something greater. Through myths, dreams, rituals, and neurobiological insights, we encounter the dynamic interplay between dissolution and reformation, creation and destruction, and individuality and unity. This episode offers a framework for understanding how shattering joy, vulnerability, and the unconscious reshape psyche. Prepare to discover what it takes to break free from the limits of who you think you are, how moments of ecstasy can transform your life by revealing deeper truths about yourself, which universal patterns shape our experiences of joy and renewal, whether intense experiences of ecstasy lead to lasting growth or temporary relief, why letting go of control is essential for discovering the fullness of your being…and so much more. Gen X can be funny about food. A lot of us were raised on a diet of Kate Moss, cigarettes and coffee. We were happy to talk openly about skipping meals, cutting carbs, and cabbage soup cleanses. We swam in a sea of celebrity diet tips, fads and…shame. In today's episode of MID, Holly is talking about food and the absolute necessity of small joys with Virginia Trioli. Virginia Trioli is one of the most highly-regarded journalists and broadcasters in Australia. She's a two-time Walkley Award winner, and her voice, on radio, on television has lent authority and comfort to some of the most difficult moments we've lived through as a nation. And this has given her a lot to say about…joy. That's what her new book, A Bit On The Side, is about. Because for her - and for Holly - food is part of that joy. And allowing ourselves to lean into the small pleasures that make a life, without guilt or shame, is a radical act, really. Particularly for women, when we have been taught that self-sacrifice and deprivation are our life's lot. So please feast on this conversation between Holly and Virginia - talking about food, love, and hard-fought parenthood and step-parenthood and losing your parents and wisdom and age and work and friendship and pleasure and letting go - and those times when you just have to… grow up, apologise and eat a shit sandwich. The New Discourses Podcast with James Lindsay, Ep. 147 We're hearing a lot about "joy" now that the Kamala Harris and Tim Walz campaign have made it a byword of their project, so we have to ask what they mean by it. We all know, by this point, that Communists share your vocabulary but do not share your dictionary. So what might they mean by "joy"? Well, it appears what they mean by joy is "radical joy," which is a kind of religious ecstasy associated with believing they are going to accomplish Communism, or at least their revolution. Radical joy is rooted in "critical hope" together with a certain anger, hatred, and libido dominandi, all as expressions of "erotic" energy seeking liberation. In Herbert Marcuse's words, it is "the joy of rebellious victims." In this episode of the New Discourses Podcast, host James Lindsay walks you through a variety of Marxist sources to discuss the concept of "radical joy" and reveal it for what it is. Johnson suggests by opening to the possibility of wonder from surprising sources, we recognize that, even in the bleakest of times, beauty is possible. Although that beauty can't permanently replace our losses, our sorrow, and the dire problems we're facing, it can break through the walls of powerlessness and melt despair. Trebbe Johnson is the founder and director of the global community Radical Joy for Hard Times, and she's devoted to finding and making beauty in hurt places. She has camped alone in the Arctic wilderness; studied classical Indian dance; worked as an artist's model, has been a street sweeper in an English village, and is an award-winning multimedia producer. She's led wilderness rites of passage and contemplative journeys in clear-cut forests, Ground Zero in New York, in EPA's toxic Superfund sites, the Sahara Desert, and other places. She participates in Global Earth Exchange—bringing people around the world together to go to places they care about that have been damaged or endangered: share stores, listen to the land, and make a simple gift of beauty for the place out of materials the place itself offers. An accomplished distance runner and multisport athlete, Keshia Roberson knows how to empower athletes by organizing and getting communities to move. She is a member of the Artemis Racing Team and a run ambassador for Pacers Running. She is filled with radical joy - and wants to share that with everyone. Keshia is a multisport athlete who has participated in duathlon and triathlons and is now exploring cycling racing. There are no limits to what Keshia can accomplish, and she continues to push the boundaries to create a legacy through sport. Like many of us, 2020 was a pivotal year, and we had lots of time to think and get creative. While researching the history of Black cyclists, Keshia learned about five black women who took a bicycle trip in 1928 from New York to Washington, DC. This inspired Keshia to do her own tour, and the 1928 Legacy Tour was born, which sparked the creation of Major Knox Adventures. Keshia says she is committed to using movement as a way to empower people's growth, healing, and joy. Let's get into this! Where are you disconnected from your roots? How can you reconnect to your roots and to what is true for you? One of the most important aspects of self-discovery is reconnecting to our roots. By understanding our past and our family history, we can gain a better understanding of ourselves and our place in the world. When we take the time to reconnect to our roots, we can gain a better understanding of our identity and our purpose. This can help us to better navigate our relationships and create meaningful connections. My guest today, Natalie Bowen Brookshire, shares her story of reconnecting to her roots and how it was an important part of her self-discovery and understanding of her identity. Natalie has lived a life centered around flowers for her entire professional career. A daughter of a garden designer and a Grand-daughter of a florist in San Francisco, she has continued the tradition of working with flowers and opened her floral design studio in SF in 2004. After years of doing flowers from Sonoma County to Mexico, Natalie is taking a break from events and concentrating on doing online classes and encouraging others to fill their life with beauty with meaning. Natalie currently resides in Northern California with her two young children, her two perfect cats, and her husband. In this episode, you will learn: How to use different tools to reconnect with yourself and your roots The importance of following your passions Why in order to grow you have to go through the discomfort Links and Resources: Connect with Mari Follow Mari on Instagram Send Mari a message on LinkedIn Follow Natalie on Instagram Get the Guided by Spirit Oracle Deck Download the Energy Healing Get Your Guide to Radical Joy

She believes moving beyond resilience to radical joy is the rightful inheritance of Black Americans. She and Ashley discuss how family has inspired their sense of purpose and why “there are many roads that lead to healing.” She shares an emotional past experience with her two adult sons that connected her to the despair of her ancestors but also to their hope. Hey Friends & Kin! FYI: THIS, JUST LIKE ALL EPISODES OF HAND ME MY PURSE, CONTAINS PROFANITY. THIS PODCAST IS FOR ADULTS AND CONTAINS ADULT CONTENT. Now that we've gotten that out of the way..._________ First of all – HAPPY NEW YEAR! It's been a minute, friends & kin, but I'M BACK BABY!!! Sis was on some ol' other ish. I was DEEP in the trenches of life, trying to navigate celebrating some really MAJOR things that should be celebrated and deal with heavy grief + just regular ol' LIFE = being ABSOLUTELY OVERWHELMED. However, I'm back and working hard to climb out of the muck into the sunshine! In this episode I am looking at a different way to approach new year's resolutions and goals and a real serious look at compassion fatigue vs. burnout – they are NOT THE SAME! I share how to identify compassion fatigue as well as some strategies for dealing & healing with the condition. And yes it is a condition. I also discuss why I have decided to focus on RADICAL JOY in 2023. When you are on the brink of being extremely overwhelmed – you gotta go hard in the paint. No light work, just LIGHT WORK… You see what I did there? The Straight Facts question for this episode is SPICY! And it's from a brother! I love when the fellas ask questions, but this one is rather messy. I was excited to respond.
