In this episode, we dive off the fishing docks of I Know What You Did Last Summer (1997), unpacking its mix of mystery, suspense, and slasher mayhem. We'll explore its firmly hooked place in the '90s horror resurgence, the performances that defined a generation of teen thrillers, and the moments that still send chills.WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR, HUH?! Leaving Cannes critics perplexed and polarized this spring, Ari Aster's Eddington takes aim at the fabric of the American zeitgeist. Is it the defining finger on the pulse of COVID-abetted brain rot? Or is it as groan-worthy as an "Ari Aster COVID movie" sounds? We discuss the film, Aster's filmography, and the prospect of assembling a political perspective through a fractured, dogshit Internet.
In the final Summer extravaganza episode, we settle a dispute that has been going on for decades. Which are the greatest Horror movie sequels of all time? Are there actually any good horror movie sequels, and how many of them are Jason X? All this and much more will be revealed in this episode of The Spoilercast.

There is a lot of news surrounding the real Annabelle doll in recent weeks. We weigh in on what we feel is true, what is fake, and what lies in between. You may be surprised to hear what we think about the supposedly cursed doll. We also talk about being attractive in the 1980s and the latest comedic reboot of a serious property. We thought The School Duel would be a much rougher watch. It does deal with school shootings and the depiction of a bullied teenager will affect some audiences, but it did not have the out and out carnage we were worried about. Instead, it is a well told character study that sucks the audience in.So, why didn't we care that much for it? The last third of the film feels like it is spinning its wheels. The part that should be the most exciting feels tacked on and pointless. It gets a little too much like a video game. And the ending undermines all the good the earlier parts of The School Duel had carefully built.Animale is a confusing French horror movie. The storytelling is straightforward and there is a lot of good here. It is atmospheric, dark, and has one of the most unique settings we have ever seen. The plot is very engaging and the writing does an excellent job of providing character depth. The final moments feature some amazing imagery that will stay with anyone who sees it. It is disturbing and will make anyone who sees feel something. The delicate subject matter is treated with sensitivity and ties everything together. It is what happens after that left us unsure how to feel. Adventures in Movies! is a part of the Morbidly Beautiful Podcast Network. We've finally arrived at the end. Back in April, we started watching the landmark television show Twin Peaks (first viewings for both Reed and Nathan). In May, we began to make our way through the feature films of the late David Lynch. For the next three months, we would dive deep into Lynch's work. We debated, we pondered, we puzzled, we cheered, and we often simply sat in a certain degree of anxious wonder. From Eraserhead to The Straight Story, from Lost Highway to Mulholland Drive, and all the way through the landscape of Twin Peaks... we catalogued a master at work.So now, we reflect on our key takeaways. We examine which moments and characters stayed with us, the good, the bad, and the utterly wild. We also rank our personal selections for each of the feature films. It's a chance to breathe, a chance to unwind, and a chance to debrief. If you've been with us through this whole journey, let us know your thoughts. If you're just checking us out, let this episode serve as a primer for some of the observations and conversations over the past three months.Either way, we hope you enjoy it. After witnessing a murder, a high school photographer believes the teachers at his school have been taken over by aliens and he investigates the odd phenomena sweeping over his school. The Faculty is a 90s scifi horror movie like no other, paying homage to so many films before it. It features an amazing cast of breakout stars, and it's directed by Robert Rodriguez. It truly feels like The Thing meets The Breakfast Club as a sci-fi mystery that stars Elijah Wood, Josh Harnett, Jordana Brewster, Clea Duvall, Robert Patrick, Famke Janssen, Piper Laurie, Usher, Salma Hayek, and Christopher McDonald to name a few. It's a cult classic that pits an unlikely band of high school teens, meeting all the stereotypes, against the teachers who are in charge and play host to a parasitic alien race. How long has Todd McFarlane been teasing a new Spawn movie? It seems like it has been at least a decade. Do his latest comments mean anything? Sticking with comic books, we discuss the adaption of the controversial Garth Ennis book, Crossed. Is the name being attached to it the perfect match or overkill? Plus, Predator: Killer of Killers new.One of the wildest films we have ever covered on our humble little podcast is All Jacked Up and Full of Worms. We were not exactly sure of what to think once it was over, but we knew we liked it. We also could not wait to see what writer-director Alex Phillips was going to do next.Anything That Moves is a psychosexual dark comedy about a bike courier sex worker who is living his best life until a serial killer begins killing the people he loves. It sounds straightforward, but it is a bonkers all over the place experience. It is a stylish watch that will definitely not be for everyone. Our feature presentation has a great set up. Lena wakes up in a moving trailer. She has no idea how she got there or where she is going. A voice comes over a speaker and lets her know that she has been infected and they are taking her to get cured. It starts with a sense of mystery.Like sports, movies are not about how you start, but you how finish. It is unfortunate that Hellcat is unable to take advantage of this premise. There is too much going on, but somehow the movie still has nothing to say. The twists are nonsensical and the characters are not as compelling as they need to be. Sean and Amanda start the show by briefly reacting to the box office performance of ‘The Fantastic Four: First Steps' and wondering whether or not superhero movies will ever return to the levels of the MCU golden days (1:39). Then, they bring in Andy Greenwald to discuss Netflix's newest animated success, ‘KPop Demon Hunters,' which they were initially skeptical of but eventually became charmed by, and they hypothesize what makes a big cultural hit in 2025 (4:46). Next, Sean and Amanda unpack the new slasher legacy sequel ‘I Know What You Did Last Summer,' starring Madelyn Cline and Chase Sui Wonders, which they found incredibly condescending. They talk through why they found the script, performances, and kill sequences to be deeply unsuccessful (38:28). Finally, they reflect on what many consider to be the weakest decade of the horror genre and create their 1990s Horror Movie Canon (1:04:59). This new Comic Book Bears Podcast audio episode is a little bit different. We were down to two bears in the cave this week so we elected to use this time together as a "backdoor pilot" for Steve Mowry's new horror-centered podcast The Bear Cave of Terror. BCOT will be available in its own feeds going forward but with Bill Z as the first of Steve's guest co-hosts, we are thrilled to present you our discussion of the seminal 1975 film Jaws as it celebrates its 50th anniversary this summer! Jaws was the first wide-release summer blockbuster which changed the way films were marketed forever and established its director Steven Spielberg as a major figure in filmmaking! We discuss the book that the film was based on, the cast, the later imitators and (of course) the scares!!! However we still were able to get a little bit of comic book talk in as well, with the first issues of The New History of the DC Universe and Lazarus Fallen by Greg Rucka and Michael Lark from Image Comics getting the CBB chat treatment! So hit play and, for one hour and fifty minutes, DON'T GO NEAR THE WATER!
Yesterday, we shared with you our final episode (previously only available to Patrons) charting our way through the third season of TWIN PEAKS (commonly known as The Return). It's now time to assess our broader feelings about its themes and interests.Nathan and Reed sit by themselves this week for a disarmingly thoughtful and vulnerable conversation about creativity, narrative forms, and the emotional difficulties of trying to understand the story we're living right now. There are many thoughts about the nature of storytelling, the ways we engage creative material as an audience, and the faith we require to hold onto hope amidst extremely confusing and distressing circumstances. It's an honest and open conversation about how The Return made us feel and we hope you enjoy it!See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
Today on another encore edition of the Rarified Heir Podcast, we are talking to Peter Knego, son of actor Peter Coe and model Rosalee Calvert. Peter doesn't pull many punches on this episode as we discuss the mercurial character that was his father. Known for his roles in films from the 1940s onward, be it Gung Ho!, Gypsy Wildcat or Louisiana Hussy, Coe is best remembered for his for his wild offscreen ways, his dark good look, his many wives and more. In fact, many will remember Peter Coe best for his horror film career in films like House of Frankenstein & The Mummy's Curse both which starred Lon Cheyney Jr. However it might be his lasting friendship at the very end of his life with b-movie director Ed Wood that piques the most interest with fans. In fact, Wood died in Coe's apartment. And our guest Peter was there to witness it all believe it or not. We discuss this fascinating and disturbing story coming up. We also discuss Peter's mother, model Rosalee Cavlert who might have been the most famous model of the 1950s and 1960s. In fact, while she did act, she often played a model in films like Made in Paris and The Oscar, both starring host Josh Mills' mother, Edie Adams. We talk about Peter's time with his mother growing up pretty much in poverty while somehow living in an exclusive enclave of Los Angeles. The story Peter weaves about how this happens is fascinating. Along the way we discuss couture designer James Galanos, Atlantic Records music mogul Ahmet Ertegun, how Coe escaped the Nazi's, the cult rock band Sparks, Bela Lugosi, having dinner with Mel Brooks, grade Z actor Paul Marco & much more. Peter is nothing if not self-effacing, straight forward, funny, matter of fact and quite happy to tell us both the good and the bad of growing up the child of a celebrity. Take a listen. Everyone has a story. Rarely are they this unique.

“If turtles are flightless birds, is lasagna a cake?”This week's most requested horror movie is Willy's Wonderland. This film has everything: A silent janitor with zero follow-up questions. Animatronic Pizzagate. And a haunted true crime original story of convoluted that you'd need five nights to sort it out. If you love flightless turtles, debt-era Nic Cage energy, and animatronics get curb-stomped, this episode's for you! Please Subscribe, Rate, and Review The Horror Virgin to help more people discover our community. What did you think of our episode on What Lies Beneath? For the past few months, as we've both ramped up for and made our way through our series on the work of David Lynch, our Patron subscribers have been hearing us make our way through his landmark series TWIN PEAKS. We covered every episode of the first two seasons before making our way through the revived third season (known as THE RETURN) from 2017. What we have for you this week is part 1 of a three-part discussion about this third season of Twin Peaks. To start, we submit to you the episode that our Patrons heard last week, in which we dissect our immediate feelings about the final two episodes of the third season. ***Major spoiler warnings if you have not yet watched the end of Twin Peaks: The Return***We present this to you ahead of our second part tomorrow wherein we dive deeper (and more vulnerably) into the themes of what this particular television season conjured in our hearts and minds. An FBI agent with an odd connection to a serial killer discovers cryptic clues to a pattern of murders that hits close to him.Longlegs is successful in blending a true crime vibe with the occult and is overshadowed by the creepy and unsettling performance of Nicolas Cage. The film had great marketing efforts to really build up tension and create that ominous mystery that leaves the viewer haunted by the presence and evil depicted by the murders in the movie. Maika Monroe has a standout performance in her effort as the FBI agent assigned to the murders that are spanning through decades. While Longlegs is a movie that will work for some, it may not land the same way for others, but certainly was shot and acted very well.
