What have we learned from more than a decade of deploying microservices? Was it a good idea? Are we any better at figuring out what a microservice is, or where its boundaries lie? Does splitting things up create fragmentation problems? And is it too late to put the genie back in the bottle? This week we're going to look at all these questions and more as we reflect on the lessons learnt from this big architectural idea. This interview was recorded live at GOTO Copenhagen, with two microservice experts and thinkers: James Lewis of Thoughtworks and Ian Cooper of JustEat. –Residuality Theory: https://leanpub.com/residualitySupport Developer Voices on Patreon: https://patreon.com/DeveloperVoicesSupport Developer Voices on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@developervoices/joinIan on Mastodon: https://mastodon.social/@ICooper@hachyderm.ioJames on BlueSky: https://bsky.app/profile/boicy.bsky.socialKris on Mastodon: http://mastodon.social/@krisajenkinsKris on BlueSky: https://bsky.app/profile/krisajenkins.bsky.socialKris on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/krisjenkins/Kris on Twitter: https://twitter.com/krisajenkins
A new change coming to the TDSB is designed to combat rising hate...but focuses on "anti-Palestinian Racism" while underscoring rising anti-Semitism. Why is this the case, especially when the TDSB is unable to properly define what anti-Palestinian racism even is? Our host Alec Pierson is joined by a Toronto-based lawyer and also a concerned parent, Ian Cooper. Ian tells Alex his serious concerns, and why he believes the TDSB needs to abandon this plan ASAP. Us is a 2019 American psychological horror film written and directed by Jordan Peele, starring Lupita Nyong'o, Winston Duke, Elisabeth Moss, and Tim Heidecker. The film follows Adelaide Wilson (Nyong'o) and her family, who are attacked by a group of menacing doppelgängers. The project was announced in February 2018, and much of the cast joined in the following months. Peele produced the film alongside Jason Blum and Sean McKittrick (the trio previously having collaborated on Get Out and BlacKkKlansman), as well as Ian Cooper. Filming took place in California, mostly in Los Angeles, Pasadena and Santa Cruz, from July to October 2018. Accompanied by her husband, son and daughter, Adelaide Wilson returns to the beachfront home where she grew up as a child. Haunted by a traumatic experience from the past, Adelaide grows increasingly concerned that something bad is going to happen. Her worst fears soon become a reality when four masked strangers descend upon the house, forcing the Wilsons into a fight for survival. When the masks come off, the family is horrified to learn that each attacker takes the appearance of one of them. BlackBusters is a podcast focused on reviewing, celebrating, re-living and critiquing Black film. From the movies we all know and love to those hidden gems, there is no movie too big or small to be praised or roasted. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Furthermore, I will reveal to you any personal investments I have in the investments mentioned herein. Additionally, quotes about individual companies are brief. Please go to this podcast's webpage for links to the actual articles for more company and stock information. Also, some companies might be covered more than once and there are also 4 article links below that time didn't allow me to review them here. ------------------------------------------------------------- 1. Best Hydrogen ETFs And Stocks. Plus… Today, I'm starting with the article 7 Hydrogen Stocks You Better Be Buying on Each and Every Dip, by Ian Cooper, on investorplace.com. Here's some of what Mr. Cooper says about his picks. “1) Global X Hydrogen ETF (NASDAQ:HYDR) It's up to $10 a share and could test $12 a share, all because of the growing demand for hydrogen… as I noted on July 17, with an expense ratio of 0.50%, this one invests in companies involved in all aspects of hydrogen production, distribution and use. 2) ALPS Clean Energy ETF (NYSEARCA:ACES). With an expense ratio of 0.55%, the ETF offers diversification and exposure to companies involved with renewables and clean technology… While it's finding resistance above $50, eventually I'd like to see it test $60 a share again soon. 3) Defiance Next Gen H2 ETF (NYSEARCA:HDRO). With an expense ratio of 0.30%, the ETF invests in companies that generate at least 50% of their revenue from involvement with hydrogen-based energy sources, fuel cell technologies and industrial gases. While it's been volatile, it has a strong history of bouncing back from excessively oversold conditions. 4) Air Products & Chemicals (NYSE:APD) Owns more than 100 hydrogen plants around the world and is involved in more than 250 projects. Air Products & Chemicals [has] a yield of 2.32%. The company is also working on a $7 billion hydrogen joint venture in Saudi Arabia. 5) Bloom Energy (NYSE:BE) Is another one of the hot ‘must own' hydrogen stocks… Analysts at RBC Capital are also bullish… the firm just initiated coverage with an outperform rating with a price target of $24 a share. 6) Plug Power (NASDAQ:PLUG) Has traded essentially flat this year, but it's still a solid long-term bet on hydrogen… Northland Securities analysts just upgraded the stock to ‘outperform' from ‘market perform' with a price target of $22 a share. 7) Fusion Fuel Green (NASDAQ:HTOO) Is still a pre-revenue company, but it has some impressive contracts. For one, it signed a 10-year offtake contract with European developer Hydrogen Ventures for 30 tons of green hydrogen per year.'' End quotes. ------------------------------------------------------------- 2. Best Hydrogen ETFs And Stocks. Plus… Now continuing with the alternative energy theme is this piece titled 3 Alternative Energy Stocks With Multibagger Potential. It's by Faisal Humayun and found on investorplace.com. Mr. Humayun includes these points about his picks. “1) Plug Power (NASDAQ:PLUG) PLUG stock has trended lower in the last 12 months and it's a golden opportunity for long-term investors to accumulate. With the company providing end-to-end solutions in the hydrogen economy, the growth visibility is robust… With significant expansion plans, revenue is likely to increase to $5 billion in 2026 and further to $20 billion by 2030… I believe that PLUG stock is poised for multi-bagger returns. 2) First Solar (NASDAQ:FSLR) stock has surged by 135% in the last 12 months. However, considering the growth momentum, First Solar stock remains undervalued at a forward price-earnings ratio of 27.1. 3) Enphase Energy (NASDAQ:ENPH) stock has been trending lower and I see this downside as a good accumulation opportunity. At a forward price-earnings ratio of 30.5, the growth stock looks attractive with an investment horizon of five years… Enphase identifies itself as the world's leading supplier of microinverter-based solar-plus-storage systems.” End quotes. ------------------------------------------------------------- Leading Sustainable Agricultural Related Stocks Many investors wonder what sustainable agricultural-related stocks there might be. Well, this article is for you. It's titled Benefits of Sustainable Investing: 3 Companies Leading The Way by Shoshana Weizenblut on finextra.com. Now a few comments by Ms. Weizenblut on her picks. “1) AGCO: Advancing Agricultural Sustainability AGCO integrates sustainability into its core business strategy, emphasizing innovation and technology to make agriculture more efficient, productive, and environmentally friendly. For instance, AGCO's Fendt Vario tractors leverage fuel-efficient designs and advanced technology to reduce environmental impact. The company's Precision Planting solutions help farmers optimize planting and yield, thereby minimizing waste and enhancing food security. 2) ICL Group: Promoting Sustainable Agriculture and Nutrition ICL Group, a leading global specialty minerals company, and one of the largest fertilizer manufacturers in the world, offers another attractive opportunity for sustainable investment. ICL's operations center around producing a sustainable food supply, focusing on soil health, plant nutrition, and food quality. ICL's innovative fertilizers are designed to increase crop yields while decreasing the environmental footprint. They are advancing Controlled Release Fertilizers (CRFs) and Water-Soluble Fertilizers (WSFs), which help maximize nutrient uptake and reduce nutrient leaching, thus protecting water sources. Furthermore, ICL's commitment to recycling industrial by-products into useful resources, such as phosphate, magnesium, and bromine among others, illustrates their dedication to a circular economy and resource efficiency. 3) John Deere (really Deere & Co): Pioneering Precision Agriculture John Deere, a familiar name in agricultural machinery, has been pushing boundaries to make farming sustainable and efficient. The company's focus on innovations to improve machinery efficiency and promote agriculture makes it a promising prospect for sustainable investors. John Deere's smart farming technologies, such as precision ag technology, allow farmers to utilize resources more effectively. This technology involves the use of GPS and data analytics to optimize crop planting, irrigation, and harvesting, reducing waste and environmental impact. Furthermore, John Deere's advancements in electric and autonomous farming machinery reflect their commitment to reducing emissions and promoting sustainability.” End quotes. ------------------------------------------------------------- 15 Biggest Green Tech Companies in the World And now for your interest and which you might want to investigate are the 15 Biggest Green Tech Companies in the World. Nope Nope is a 2022 American neo-Western science fiction horror film written, directed, and produced by Jordan Peele, under his and Ian Cooper's Monkeypaw Productions banner. It stars Daniel Kaluuya and Keke Palmer as horse-wrangling siblings attempting to capture evidence of an unidentified flying object. This week on the Film at Lincoln Center podcast, we're revisiting a conversation from the 60th New York Film Festival with Mia Hansen-Løve on One Fine Morning, moderated by NYFF Artistic Director Dennis Lim, followed by our recent conversation with Jordan Peele, Keke Palmer, and more on the making of NOPE. Few filmmakers are as adept at exploring the contours of modern love and grief as Mia Hansen-Løve, whose intensely poignant and deeply personal latest drama stars Léa Seydoux as Sandra, a professional translator and single mother at a crossroads. Her father, rapidly deteriorating from a neurological illness, will soon require facility care, and her new lover is a married dad whose unavailability only seems to draw her nearer to him, despite—or because of—the fact that she's going through an overwhelming time in her life. Hansen-Løve, so finely observant of the small nuances of human interaction, creates, in harmonious concert with a magnificent Seydoux, a complicated portrait of a woman torn between romantic desire and familial tragedy that is a marvel of emotional and formal economy. One Fine Morning opens Friday, January 27, in our theaters. Get showtimes and tickets: filmlinc.org/morning Following a special 70mm screening of NOPE during our Jordan Peele curated series, The Lost Rider: A Chronicle of Hollywood Sacrifice, NOPE director Jordan Peele, lead Keke Palmer, producer Ian Cooper, editor Nicholas Monsour & composer Michael Abels joined FLC Programmer Tyler Wilson to discuss the making of the sci-fi-horror.

You can help Jordie with her Holman Prize pitch by going to her Youtube video and clicking like Thank-you so much for your support with this. Rationale My dream is to record a CD featuring works by blind composers, Australian composers, and works that are more familiar. I plan to travel to my pianist Penny Cashman in Adelaide for rehearsals, to the UK later in the year for coachings with specialists in the classical music field, and to record the finished product in Melbourne at Move Records studios. Feature works include First Person Feminine by Ian Cooper who was blind, and mentored me as a young singer. Also a work called Normality by Dindy Vaughan who wrote the work as a commission for soprano, flute, violin and piano. It challenges the concept of “what is normal” in a humourous way. I also plan to record works by Spanish composer Rodrigo who was also blind, and other familiar composers such as Bach, Mozart, Schubert and Duparc. This CD will be a showcase of repertoire to share my voice with a much wider audience. I love to sing works that tell a story. This is a chance to collaborate with Penny and other musicians to express these concepts. I also hope to use this album as a vehicle to audition for conductors and increase my profile as a professional singer. Bio Music is my first love. I also love animals and have worked with three beautiful labrador guide dogs and relish the freedom of movement they bring. Technology is another passion for me and I like to keep abreast with new developments in braille and audio devices. I am a Choral Scholar with Christ Church South Yarra. Other singing endeavours are finalist in the International Competition for Blind and Partially Sighted Musicians in Prague, the 2012 recipient of the Maroondah Singers Memorial Scholarship and a finalist in the 2013 Australian National Liederfest. I also play piano and teach music, braille music and singing to both young children and adults. Alongside my singing, I work as a music transcriber and music teacher. I have chaired the Australian Braille authority for four years, and work with the International Council on English Braille as chair of the music braille committee.
Of the many great, palpable fears that connect us as human beings, the fear of rejection is high among them. But how often do we have the strange experience of learning why we were rejected? This week, we welcome Ian Cooper to explore and review these ideas as their described by popular YouTuber, Hank Green. Do we ultimately want to know these humbling reasons? Do they help us to grow? How does rejection change when it’s done anonymously?

After sending shockwaves across contemporary culture and setting a new standard for provocative, socially-conscious horror films with his directorial debut, Get Out, Academy Award®-winning visionary Jordan Peele returns with another original nightmare that he has written, directed and produced. Set in present day along the iconic Northern California coastline, Us, from Monkeypaw Productions, stars Oscar® winner Lupita Nyong’o as Adelaide Wilson, a woman returning to her beachside childhood home with her husband, Gabe (Black Panther’s Winston Duke), and their two children (Shahadi Wright Joseph, Evan Alex) for an idyllic summer getaway. Haunted by an unexplainable and unresolved trauma from her past and compounded by a string of eerie coincidences, Adelaide feels her paranoia elevate to high-alert as she grows increasingly certain that something bad is going to befall her family. After spending a tense beach day with their friends, the Tylers (Emmy winner Elisabeth Moss, Tim Heidecker, Cali Sheldon, Noelle Sheldon), Adelaide and her family return to their vacation home. When darkness falls, the Wilsons discover the silhouette of four figures holding hands as they stand in the driveway. The move to open source has helped a lot, as it opens the door to what people really look for in a thriving community - rather than being a product created by Microsoft, it is a set of tools supporting by Microsoft but with direct community involvement. While at NDC in London, Carl and Richard sat down with Ian Cooper to talk through the twelve factors approach to building software. Ian talks about focusing on building software-as-a-service style application, likely in the cloud (and certainly using cloud architectures), with continuous delivery of new features.
