So today we are providing a Shavuot crash course for the Call Me Back community as well as some inspiration. In this compelling episode, Pastor Karl dives into Romans 14, exploring what he calls "Applied Christianity." This chapter challenges both seasoned and new believers to navigate the balance between personal freedom in Christ and public restraint for the sake of others. Pastor Karl unpacks the concept of spiritual maturity, emphasizing private liberty and public restriction as biblical principles rooted in love. He addresses the tension between those strong in faith, who live in the freedom of grace, and those weak in faith, who adhere to stricter rules, using the historical context of meat sacrificed to idols to illustrate disputable matters. Through practical examples like alcohol, Halloween, and homeschooling, Pastor Karl highlights how non-essential issues should not divide the church. He introduces the "law of love," urging listeners to prioritize others' faith over personal freedoms, and explains the Bema Seat judgment, where Christians are rewarded for their sacrifices, not judged for salvation. Join Pastor Karl for a thought-provoking discussion on living out faith with grace, love, and unity.Watch all our sermons on our youtube channel "Flipside Christian Church"Join us in person 9:00am & 10:30am every Sunday morning.37193 Ave 12 #3h, Madera, CA 93636For more visit us at flipside.churchFor more podcasts visit flipsidepodcasts.transistor.fm

3/16/25 message from Pastor Ralph Royea "The Original Cancel Culture" We won't Bow! We are The Original Cancel Culture. This is the week of Purim. Purim is a Jewish Holiday that highlights the remembrance of three main figures: Esther, Mordecai, and Haman. The Jews were in submission to the Persian Empire during this time. An evil man, Haman, rose in prominence and became an advisor to the king (Read Esther chapter 30). Haman wanted the Jews to bow and acknowledge evil. When Mordecai refused, Haman worked the king into making decrees that would force them to submit or die. Haman wanted to crush their faith, cause them to sin, humiliate them in front of man, and if not, annihilate them from the face of the empire. Mordecai refused to bow, and through his niece, Esther, he had access to the king, but not without risking her life. Esther refused at first, but in your reading, you'll see the results of her request. The enemy may be trying to curse you, crush you, cancel you, or cause you to submit your faith, but you have access to the King of Kings, and all that the enemy meant to harm you will be used to restore you. Romans 8:28 is coming to life. You were made for this day. Your Haman will be Cancelled!

Nate Gadol is a spirit with the power to make anything last for as long as it's needed, whether oil, chocolate, or a flower. Gadol's special gift is at the center of The Hanukkah Magic of Nate Gadol, a children's book from author Arthur Levine. Growing up, Levine says, he felt that the Jewish holiday was often eclipsed by the mythology surrounding Christmas, with beloved characters like Rudolph, Frosty the Snowman, and Santa Claus. With Nate Gadol, Levine aims to introduce a mythological hero that Jewish people could call their own. In today's episode, we revisit a conversation between Levine and NPR's Scott Simon. They discuss the backstory behind Hanukkah presents and the many forms Jewish families take today. To listen to Book of the Day sponsor-free and support NPR's book coverage, sign up for Book of the Day+ at plus.npr.org/bookofthedayLearn more about sponsor message choices: podcastchoices.com/adchoicesNPR Privacy Policy

Friday October 11 2024, sundown Ending nightfall of Saturday October 12, 2024Last Wednesday October 2 to Friday October 4 2024 was the Jewish Holiday of Rosh Hashanah or the Blowing of the Trumpets! This morning we shall discuss the “Day of Atonement” or known as “Yom Kippur” [ Yom = the day, Kippur = ask for forgiveness]. Other words this is a special Feast in which you and I ask our Heavenly Father for all those sins which we may have over looked throughout the past year.In recognition of Yahweh's Words, we are instructed to honor and respect His 7 Holy Feast periods. Now I realize that the conditions set forth by Yahweh differs from what He sets forth in the beginning. What caught my interest into these 7 Holy Feasts was the Prophetic Message contained within them.We find that within these, 4 are in the season of the spring, while the remaining 3 are in the fall or “harvest. In studying the Prophecy aspect of Yahweh's Words, we realize and conclude that these Holy Feasts play an important role in the Prophecy of Yahshua Messiah concerning the past and the present. Let's take a brief view of the first 4 FeastsThe Feast of Passover pointed to Yahshua's death on Calvary as “the Lamb of Yahweh, who taketh away the sin of the world”, John 1:29The Feast of Unleavened Bread attested to the fact that Yahshua's body, unlike all others would not decay in the grave. The Feast of Firstfruits proclaimed the certainty of His bodily resurrection. The acceptance by Yahweh of the Firstfruits [sheaf] of the spring barley harvest guaranteed a full harvest to follow. By virtue of the resurrection of Yahshua Messiah, He is the Firstfruit and guarantees that all the Saints within Him will one day rise from the grave. The Feast of Pentecost, which occurs exactly 50 days after Firstfruits [the resurrection of the Messiah] anticipated the outpouring of the Holy Spirit and the origin of the “Ek-kelsia”. We read in the Jewish Talmud, in the tractate of Sotah, foli #48 it reads in part “when Haggai, Zechariah and Malachi died, the Holy Spirit departed from Israel” These 4 events in the life of Yahshua Messiah, which the 4 spring feasts depicted, are history. We can look back at these events and they can be examined as historical facts. We can say that the first 4 set the foundation for the remaining 3. As I think on this foundation, I think of the Tabernacle, which is to come, and when this Tabernacle comes, then all of His Elect come to dwell in the eternalThe fall Feasts have not yet occurred! They are yet future and predict with absolute certainty, events that will most assuredly unfold. As the 4 spring Feasts were fulfilled literally and right on schedule in connection with the Messiah's first coming, the 3 Fall Feasts will likewise be fulfilled literally and right on schedule in connection with His second coming. What about the future of the Day of Atonement?Let's keep in mind, that the Levitical Sacrifices were a shadow of the good things that are coming.Read Hebrews 10:11 Those laws of the Old Covenant could never remove sin! Even the scapegoats figuratively removed sin from the house of Israel only for a year.Hebrews 9:6-146 this would be the services of the High Priest under that first Covenant going into the front part of the Temple.7 second = that's to say, into the “Holy of Holies”8 signifying = “deloo” to make clearway = literally “the way of the Holy” made manifest = “phaneroo” to render apparent. This word is taken from the Greek word “fan-er-os”, meaning shinning. The Greek word “fan-er-os” is taken from another Greek word, “fah-ee-no” which means “to lighten” or “shine”. This Greek word, “fah-ee-no” is taken from the Greek base word, “foce”, which mean to shine or make manifest.Have any questions? Feel free to email me keitner2024@outlook.com

Jewish people are part of the rich tapestry of ethnicities and cultures that make up the United States, and while many may be familiar with aspects of Jewish culture, many may not be as aware of Jewish holidays, or why observing, celebrating, and participating in them is so important. Host Jennie Brooks sits down with Jill Mizrachy, Director of Career & Leadership Development at Booz Allen, to learn more about Pesach (which non-Jewish people may know as “Passover”), the concept of tikkun olam (the idea of leaving the world better than we found it), and how becoming more familiar with Jewish cultures can help us to challenge our own assumptions to foster greater inclusion and belonging in our workplaces.Jewish Holiday Salutations (source: Wikipedia):Chag sameach - "happy holiday"Gut yontiv - Good Yom Tov (Jewish holidays)Shana tova/L'shanah tovah - [To a] good yearTzom kal - Easy fast (during Yom Kippur) Host: Jennie Brooks, Executive Vice President, Navy Marine Corps TeamWriting, Editing, & Production:- Erin Prah, DEI Program Manager- Enrico E. Jewish Holiday Tu B'Shvat 5784
What is Tu Bishvat (also spelled Tu BiShevat)? Well it's the birthday of the trees, also called the New Year of the Trees, so happy new year to you, and happy new year to the trees, and welcome back to Jew-ish! Trees have a very special place in Jewish life. We call the Torah, our holiest text (also known as the Five Books of Moses and the Pentateuch) the Tree of Life, and we plant trees to celebrate life events like the birth of a new child. Yep, trees are kind of a thing for Jews, and no one loves them more than Tobin Mitnick, who is probably better known by his IG handle, JewsLoveTrees. When you love something, why beat around the bush, amirite? Tobin is the perfect guest for this tree-centered episode, but he's so much more than his charming social media personality; he's a dad, an actor, a comedian, and avid reader and of course, a huge nerd (like me). So, this episode is a bit of a wild ride, but it's hilarious and you will definitely learn a lot, especially about trees. And, just a heads up: some of the stuff we talk about in this one might not be considered kid-friendly to some, Tobin is a comedian, after all, so give it a listen before playing with kids in the car. Don't forget to pick up Tobin's book: Must Love Trees! But as far as Tu BiShvat knowledge....well, we got a little distracted, so here's some knowledge for ya: The word “Tu” is actually a number, because in Hebrew, numbers are represented by letters, kinda like Roman numerals. Originally, the 15th day of the Hebrew month, Shevat, marked the age of trees for assessing tithing (taxes, essentially), and when it was ok to eat the fruit. But now, it marks the unofficial start of spring, we all get to eat lots of fruit, and some communities even have a seder (a ritual meal) modeled after Passover. The sisters are finally back together after Whitney's Italian vacation and they're joined by none other than Momma Ashley to dish on all the eating, drinking and cooking that happened while they were apart. After Courtney suggests wearing wigs while recording the podcast in order to prevent looking bald from the headphones, the ladies jump into it, learning about the culinary carnival Whitney and Lance had during their incredible Italian vacation. Meanwhile Courtney got her “game on” in Wyoming, prepared a feast for family and friends for the Jewish Holiday, Yom Kippur and did her daughter, Reagan, dirty trying to keep her school lunches healthy. Meanwhile, after walking out of the podcast recording twice, the star of the show, Momma Ashley, gives the girls an update on her new rescue dog, Lucy, and shares a brilliant tip for anyone who might need bushier eyebrows. We have lots to share this week on Sisters Dish with special guest, Momma Ashley so tune in and catch up with us as we laugh our way through another episode of Hey Sis, Eat This!
