Random Vegas Hilton, at one time, had the tallest sign in Vegas at 362 feet tall, taller than the Landmark Hotel itself and only a few feet shy of the Hilton itself. On July 18, 1994, it was blown down by 70-80 mph high winds. Fortunately, no one was injured. The sign was rebuilt in 1997 but not nearly as tall at only 279 feet tall. This is the sign Westgate has to this day. @summacorp TwitPic of the week Do you realize how much Vegas history is in this one shot shared by @Summacorp? We'll start with Circus Circus since it's the easiest to orient yourself with. Here you can see her 5 fountains and carousel marquee as well. Next door you have Travel-lodge to the left, still there today, and Westward Ho on the right, not with us anymore. Across the street you have the Thunderbird, Algiers and Riviera. Today its Fontainebleau and a parking lot for the LVCVA. Beyond that we can see the International, the Convention Center and the Landmark. Today the International is the Westgate and the convention center is now so much bigger that it repurposed the Landmark parking lot into an extension of the convention center. In this episode, funds editor Harriet Matthews and senior private equity reporter Rachel Lewis share insights from the Mergermarket Private Equity and M&A Forum Europe, exploring the outlook for private equity buyouts, exits and fundraising, as well as the outlook for specific markets, including the UK.The Forum, which took place on 21 May at the Landmark Hotel in London, brought together private equity and M&A market participants for a day of panel discussions and networking. In her keynote speech, JP Morgan's global head of M&A Anu Aiyengar summarised the macro drivers for dealflow in 2024 across public and private markets, highlighting UK take-private activity in particular as a bright spot for dealmaking.Elsewhere at the conference, panellists discussed topics including the prevalence of preferred equity as a liquidity solution for GPs, how GPs are approaching fundraising in a liquidity constrained environment, and LP preferences and concerns in the current market. While much has been made of a potential uptick in dealmaking in 2H 2024, conference attendees were cautious when it came to making predictions. Positive indicators include strategic appetite for private equity-backed assets, with hope for interest rate cuts also expected to allow the cogs in the private equity machine to start whirring again.Mergermarket data round-up – 1:28Keynote speech takeaways – 3:51UK market sentiment – 5:20Fundraising outlook – 6:18Preferred equity and bridging the valuation gap – 7:20Returns and distributions – 10:50Large-cap exit options – 12:15You can listen to the podcast on your favourite podcasting platforms, including Spotify and Apple Podcasts. If you would like to hear more podcasts produced by ION Analytics, you can access the ION Analytics channel on Apple Podcasts.Theme music: ©2012 Kick Up The Fire

This week, on International Women's Day 2024, Jacki and Lyle discuss the importance and significance of individual awards, in light of Jacki's nomination for the Modern Woman Award 2024! Modern Woman, a fantastic platform founded by friend of the podcast Rosie Coxshaw, has partnered with The Inspiration Awards for Women where the award will be presented at a ceremony at the Landmark Hotel in London on 22nd March! This got Jacki and Lyle thinking about the merits of individual awards, with Jacki opening up on how she felt when she heard she was nominated, and how it is always an opportunity to look back on what you are proud of when it comes to your career as well as championing others in your industry and those who have helped you along the way. Lyle discusses his own (very limited) experience of awards ceremonies, and how in actuality even at the highest level, such as with the likes of The Oscars and The Grammys, being nominated is fact the key indicator of exceptional performance and commitment. There is time for Jacki and Lyle to get their dates muddled when it comes to their respective birthdays, and there is initial confusion as to which podcast our intrepid duo are hosting at the time!To vote for Jacki, and indeed any of the other fantastic nominees for the Modern Woman Award 2024, head to: https://modernwoman.co/award-vote/Artwork by DimosoMusic by Lyle FultonGet in touch via lyle@dimoso.com or info@dimoso.comMore information at www.dimoso.com and www.therestispr.comFollow us on Twitter - @TheRestIsPR Hosted on Acast. They are remixes of her classic Hit “Remember” on the Room Recordings Label released on September 16th, 2016. Her first Christmas song “Christmas Time Is Here” was released on Nov 17th, 2016. Starting out at age 12 in her hometown Detroit, singing for local Baptist congregations, singer Rena Scott entered her first major talent contest at age 13. Soon afterwards came her very first record. "I Just Can't Forget That Boy" at the age of 15. She blossomed as a performer, and began playing two or three gigs a night on weekends at local nightclubs. She opened for many of the Motown acts like The Temptations, The Four Tops, The Originals and many other popular artists. When the "Queen of Soul" Aretha Franklin (also a native Detroiter) needed a third backup singer for a few gigs, the then 18 year old Scott got her million-to-one shot at singing on stage with her idol at the Pine Knob Ski Resort in Northern Michigan, and more importantly, in front of thousands at Carnegie Hall! In those days, she patterned her own singing after her. Scott then started working to develop her own style as she listened to other artists like Patti Labelle, Gladys Knight, and Barbra Streisand. She emerged with a unique sound. Having had that one night experience at Carnegie, Scott vowed she would return there someday to perform. Scott began recording and/or touring with such greats as The Jazz Crusaders, David Ruffin, Bobby Womack, Phil Perry, Ronnie Mc Neir and Michael Henderson (with whom she recorded the smash hit "Take Me I'm Yours" from Henderson's album "In The Nighttime" in 1979) With her growing years of experience and popularity, Scott wowed many thousands in other places; first the nightclubs in Detroit, then later in Los Angeles. In 1989 Scott re-emerged on Sedona Records with the album `Love Zone', from which the first single "Do That To Me One More Time" hit the Billboard R&B Singles chart.
