What does setting intentions for a trip look like in practice? And what happens once our travel becomes more intentional? That's exactly what I discuss with Tiffany Musick in this episode of the Travel Coach Network Podcast. Tiffany believes travel is an important tool for helping us not only connect with the world, but with ourselves. As a transformation and travel coach, she helps people explore their call to travel to in order to better understand their WHY and bring more clarity and purpose to their experiences.  Just as one would put intentional time and effort into the logistical planning of a trip, she helps clients put intentional thought into the mental, emotional and spiritual preparation for travel. She also work with clients to navigate their trips from a place of deeper reflection and engagement with self, and use this self-learning as they reintegrate into their lives post-travel. How does a real coaching session work? What goes into it? What results stem from it? We may hear about health & wellness coaching available through our employer or EAP, see people across various social media platforms claiming to be life coaches or wellness coaches and of course see athletic coaches taking front and center on a regular basis. But what's the difference between someone who might call themselves a coach and an experienced, nationally board-certified health & wellness coach? And what is it like to be coached by someone who actually knows what they're doing? These are questions we're asked regularly. And, while we can spend hours explaining it, the single best way to understand is to experience it in person. The second best way is to listen in on a real, live, unscripted coaching session. That is exactly what you'll tap into in this episode, as Brian Allen, a nationally board-certified health & wellness coach for Catalyst Coaching 360 will be coaching Suzy Lewis, as she generously allows us a very real, raw, uncensored look into her life and some of the things she's working through right now. There was no script. This is the real deal. As you'll hear, every coaching session is unique, and the dance between the coach and the client involves reflection, restatements, silence, intrigue, left turns and some pretty interesting self-discovery. Whether or not Suzy's journey mirrors your own or is on a completely different path, there is so much for us to glean as we have the opportunity to be a fly on the wall to this magical session. Oh- and by the way – once they wrap up the coaching session, we'll transition into an incredibly insightful debrief with the two of them, as they discuss some of the things happening behind the scenes while the coaching was taking place. In addition to his work with Catalyst Coaching 360, Brian is also the founder and lead coach of Pursuit Health and Wellness Coaching out of Chattanooga, TN Looking for weekly tips, tricks and turbo boosts to enhance your life? Rev. Celeste's guest is Corrine Zupko. Her specialties are mindfulness-based stress reduction classes, mindfulness meditation training, "A Course in Miracles" mentoring, stress reduction, and wellness enhancement.Corinne chose to be a coach because she feels drawn to helping people.  She chose to major in psychology and went on to get a counseling degree. She now supports people through spiritual teaching. She still has a stress hormone, and is a human who goes through challenging times, but now she has tools that work. She comes from a growth expectation. She knows there is something to learn through every challenge.Corinne was diagnosed with her first anxiety disorder at a very young age and struggled with debilitating anxiety for nearly two decades. Her mother kept encouraging her to look at the spiritual text, "A Course in Miracles ". (ACIM). The ACIM phrase: "Nothing real can be threatened, nothing unreal exists" caught her  attention on her journey.  Because her anxieties have been existential, ACIM has taken her to the depth of her anxieties in meeting the questions of why we are here. The Course internally resonated with her. ACIM encouraged her to look at what is coming up for her. She refers to the Holy Spirit as her inner therapist. She no longer needs to read ACIM every day.  She approaches her life with defenselessness. She gets radically honest and is willing to look at her ego, be shown by Spirit how to make a shift, and open up to Love. Cultivating the relationship by dialoging with Spirit has been the antidote to her fear and anxiety. When she recognizes she is not alone, a sense of purpose comes and a deep fulfillment comes from that that is enormously nourishing. When she is in her inner peace, she feels absolute love and connection with everything. It's a feeling of pure acceptance, of oneness with God and every other living thing. She feels a radiance that cannot be contained. She started to write down what was helpful to her and it took seven years to write her book. It contains the foundational tools that helped her heal. As a mindfulness teacher, she has found that multitasking is a myth and is not efficient. Paying attention on purpose moment-to-moment, using our senses, using our breath, and doing a body scan helps us tune in. Being mindful even brushing our teeth can help us stay focused. Coupling mindfulness with a spiritual journey helps her watch her mind, and be honest when the ego-self pops up.Corinne is the author of the award-winning book, "From Anxiety to Love" (https://www.amazon.com/Anxiety-Love-Radical-Approach-Letting/dp/1608685055). The book is also on Audible. She is an Adjunct Professor of Counselor Education at The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) and teaches weekly mindfulness meditation classes at a major U.S. financial institution. Currently, he is the Senior Director of Wellness and Development for the Toronto Raptors. In this conversation, we do a deep dive into the world of Sport Psychology, we talk a lot about leadership and culture, and how individuals in teams need to work from the inside out and develop the mindset they need to be at their best, and how environments can impact us from the outside in. Alex is my kind of thinker. He loves to think about and research and study science and best practices that exist in psychology. We both are extremely curious and passionate about what makes teams great and how do we create environments for individuals to unlock their potential.   Alex had a number of amazing insights during our conversation. Some of them include: “We need to position the people around athletes and peak performers to facilitate the performance, to be enhancing of performance” (5:45). “Athletes report the single biggest thing stopping them from peak performance is the organizational stuff” (6:30). “The environment is responsible for developing talent” (6:55). “I wish I could say there was one right way to do it, but this is just the way that it works for me” (11:00). “My role is to make sure everyone has what they need from a mental health standpoint and a mental performance standpoint. That also means that I'm not all things to all people; I can't be all things to all people” (13:15). “To be an elite athlete requires a really really high degree of self-regulation” (17:30). “Mental health is the foundation of peak performance” (20:30). “Taking care of your mental health is about leaving more room for you to be a peak performer” (21:40). “We're all feeling something all the time” (24:15). “[Emotion] is a part of the human experience. We're not going to get rid of it, we're not going to fight it” (24:25). “Acceptance is if in fact there is nothing you can do to change the situation, then it is being willing to sit with the discomfort as long as you're moving towards something that you care about” (27:10). “Making the main thing the main thing is really important” (31:20). “The people who are happiest are the people whose experience matches their expectations” (33:50). “Norms are what you accept” (38:45). “A leader is a person who's willing to use themselves to help others get better” (52:05). “The best teammates are the ones who are [leading] behind the scenes, under the radar, who know what buttons to push and levers to pull to get the most out of their teammates” (53:30). “You can win a championship one year without leadership. I'm not sure you can build a dynasty without leadership” (53:45). “My [unfair advantage] is being able to see a system and break it down in parts and see how things fit together and identify what levers to pull and things to move that can make a big change and do it in a behind the scenes way” (59:50). “Adversity does tend to bring out people's real strengths” (1:03:10). “The people who have the best time at work are the people who get to use a strength every day and people who generally feel energized by what they're getting to do, and the two go hand-in-hand” (1:05:30).   Additionally, you can follow Alex on Twitter and LinkedIn. Apply for Be Uncommon If You Can Mastermind: https://www.christiandevans.com/mastermind-now _____________________________________________________ My WHY is to cultivate moments of insight so that people can break past barriers, be the best version of themselves and make a positive impact on the world. People are complex; and so is change - on both the organizational and individual level. Yet too many organizations use outdated approaches as if employees are replicable and predictable machines rather than human beings. Sustainable change happens from the inside out, not the outside in. This means creating the conditions for people to become more self-aware, rewrite their narrative, choose courage over comfort and show up as a leader - regardless of their role. Organizations that thrive leverage the FUSION of organizational health and employee wellbeing to intentionally create a culture that frees, fuels and inspires people to bring their best (and authentic) selves to work - and home - each day. My passion is to help organizations rehumanize their culture by A) building courageous, effective leaders and leadership teams; B) creating opportunities to foster self-awareness and better thinking; and C) intentionally creating a high-performing culture that supports people in fusing their personal and professional lives. I also help individuals show up as a leader and step into their greatness so they can be fully engaged in all areas of life. I do this through my role as a consultant (focusing on culture, leadership and wellbeing), Board Certified Coach (also a Certified Immunity to Change Coach and Certified Intrinsic Coach®), Certified Dare to Lead™ Facilitator, national speaker, author, and podcast host (Show Up as a Leader). “Feeling like they can't do enough for their patients, or that they're falling short with their patients, (that) they're disappointing their patients. What to Outsource and Own in Your Membership to Create A High-Touch Feel When you left the corporate world to start your online business, one of the biggest driving factors was most likely freedom. But when we start to add more to our digital plates, we lose what we first sought. Toni would love to discuss what to outsource and what to keep in-house to save you time when growing and managing your membership. Spoiler: it's all about finding the most important touchpoints for your clients. Toni Bache is not your average 7-figure business coach. She is a vivacious Australian helping busy women build and scale online businesses, without sacrifice. She is obsessed with memberships because of the freedom, flexibility, and impact they can create (did anyone say recurring revenue, while only working a few hours each week?). Toni has made it her mission to create a movement inspiring female founders to create $1M+ dollar memberships without the hustle. She has all the pieces of paper - a Bachelor of Business, an MBA, she studied Leadership at Harvard and she is a Professional Certified Coach through ICF, a Board-Certified Coach, a Certified Executive Coach, and a Strengths Certified Coach - but maintains that none of these is as valuable as the experience she has gained scaling her own businesses and helping hundreds of clients scale their own. She left a lucrative global Vice President role in a Fortune 500 Company where she was responsible for large teams and multi-billion dollar deals to enjoy the membership business she had created and to free up her time to focus on helping other women do the same. When she's not busy coaching inside her memberships, she can be found renovating homes, training for 29029, or volunteering her time on the beach as a surf lifesaver. In this week's episode, Marissa is joined by Tess Brigham, LMFT. Tess works exclusively with Young Adults and shares with us the ways she often sees codependency in their lives. Tess describes the codependency young adults often have with their parents, particularly with one parent, and with social media. Tess touches on aspects of “control” and how codependents are often seeking to control others to feel in-control themselves. We conclude with ways that Tess works with her clients to get clear on what they want and how to build their self-awareness to pursue their life dreams.  It's a must-listen! Thanks for listening! Heck yes! Tess shares with us her definition of codependency and how she witnessed that often when she worked with other battling addiction. Tess opens up about codependency in her own life, including with you son, where she unintentionally enabled his social anxiety in an unconscious effort to keep everything calm.  Tess describes ways she has witnessed codependency in the young adults she works with, especially where one young adult is highly codependent with one parent. Marissa opens up about aspects of her codependency in young adulthood and how that relates to social media.  Tess expands on how social media can lead to “comparison-itis” where we do things out of comparing or being compared to others. This can lead us to do things that are out of alignment with our true values so Tess helps her clients get in touch with what they want.  “What do you want?” Tess sympathizes with the young adults in her practice, as well as with our listeners, since they often do feel like they are “behind” if they aren't measuring up to their peers. Tess shares ways to combat this type of thinking and reminds everyone “careers are long. Relationships are long. Lifetimes ARE LONG.” We conclude with a discussion on boundaries and how, after setting them, it's okay and normal to have to set them over and over and over again.  Questions for homework: How does social media compound your codependency? Are you codependent with one parent in particular? How come you think that is? Do you struggle with feeling “behind?” How do you then put yourself into restrictive/rigid jobs, relationships, housing situations due to feeling “behind?” What do you want in this life? How are you working towards or against achieving that?
