Is audio advertising a viable performance marketing channel? The millions of Brits listening to music and podcasts everyday tell us there is certainly an active audience ready to be leveraged, but UK adspend indicates that marketers aren't yet sold on the medium. To convince them otherwise, this episode of the Performance Marketing Unlocked podcast features Ed Couchman (20:19), Head of Sales for the UK and Northern Europe at Spotify. With over 626 million monthly active users, Ed believes Spotify represents why audio advertising is quickly becoming performance marketing's most underutilised advertising channel.Like any good salesman, Ed brought his pitch along with him. From the medium's success in the US to Spotify Ads Manager's litany of case studies, even the most sceptical performance marketer will be hard-pressed to ignore audio's potential.Opening the episode however, is PMW's News Reporter Reem Makari (2:56). Reem joined PMW from a podcasting background and famously adores the practice, so she jumped at the chance to go head-to-head with host Joe for some verbal jousting on why audio ads should demand more marketing dollars than alternative performance channels. This podcast was hosted by PMW's Multimedia Editor, Joseph Arthur.~ Further reading ~ Everything I've learnt about performance marketing and why I'm choosing to ignore itBudweiser Brazil is transforming songs that name-drop its brand into audio ads on SpotifyWhy brands should be harnessing the power of fandomSpotify's ad marketplace expands to Asia and Latin America with AI Hosted on Acast. One casualty of the shale revolution was the MLP financing model. The General Partner (GP) would typically direct its MLP to finance assets that were “dropped down” from the GP. MLP capex and M&A more than tripled from 2010 to 2015. Cash returns too often came up short of those promised, and investors lost confidence […]

Today we're sharing another insightful presentation from our most recent Innovative Executives League Summit, where Leon Chism, the Vice President of Engineering at Evolve, delivered a powerful lesson on collecting critical metrics for organization-wide success. As an experienced technologist and executive, Leon leads teams in unparalleled growth and innovation. In this presentation, Leon dives into how the collection of metrics examining speed and quality paired with human-driven evaluation and consistent reporting are the keys to success. In this episode, Leon first dives into DORA metrics and the significance of collecting and reporting those figures of speed and quality. He overviews the additional customization of the data he collects; in one example, he looks closely at aging reports to determine where processes are sticking and gains a live perspective on getting those tasks unstuck by allocating more resources. As the last place to observe metrics, Leon offers a compelling outlook on examining team balance and individual metrics. ("You want to measure the process and not the people.") In further support of optimizing processes and not people, Leon shares his perspective on leaderboards, comparison, and other human-oriented metric frameworks of note. In the final segment, Leon answers audience questions ranging from setting WIP limits (never too low), developer satisfaction, and key aspects of the communication around metrics to create a shared understanding and identify the value beyond the data. We talk about psychological safety a lot, but what does it even mean? That was the question Dave Sewell asked himself as he struggled in his former consulting gig. He watched teams leave toxic environments and it triggered something in him. Psychological aggression, the opposite of feeling safe at work, was running rampant among his clients. So he made a change. Before he truly defined psychological safety, he wrote the book on it. This week on the podcast, Dave and I talk about the science behind psychological aggression and why even subtle behaviors and responses can create an environment that doesn't feel safe. And he shares how to flip that narrative by recognizing the inherent good in others. This all starts at the leadership level, where leaders recognize the power of their own body language so they can take more ownership of their team behavior and performance. It's such an interesting conversation with real-world examples of what happens when we set out to work with humans, not grizzly bears!About Dave Sewell:Coming from a family of alcoholism and violence and being subjected in his early career to shame and ridicule, Dave has been fascinated why some leaders rule with the stick whilst other don't and why do companies have both types of leaders within their organisation at the same time? His research around high performing teams, in particular what causes dysfunctional teams, bullying and office politics is at the leading edge of our understanding. Dave demonstrates how to overcome these by embracing psychological safety, something that should be at the core of all leadership training. When he's not talking about leadership and helping teams, Dave spends his free time with his family; his wife Kirsty and his two sons Lachlan and Jamie. His other interests are meditating and energetic healing, hiking, mountain biking and Xbox gaming. Winning is imagining a mighty mission and then staying in the process of making it real versus getting sidetracked by diversions, golden opportunities and self-doubt.The best leaders, revolutionaries and movement-makers came from a place of heightened and unusual inspiration.Their genius was less about the ability to execute on the dream and more about their capacity to create the dream. Dealing with stress can place immense demands on employees' physical and mental health. Our Health and Wellbeing at Work 2022 report emphasises the negative impact stress can have on productivity, with 79% of organisations reporting some stress-related absence over the last year. So, the idea that organisations could purposely generate or allow pressure and stress to raise employee performance sounds counterintuitive, right? Well, not necessarily. Join Nigel Cassidy and this month's guests – Alexandra Lichtenfeld, Business Mentor at Client Matters, Dr Serra Pitts, Clinical Director at 87% Limited, and Alan Lambert, International Strategic HR Change Leader at TotalEnergies – as we explore the benefits of positive stress and why generating healthy levels of pressure can drive higher individual, team and organisation performance.

An effective 'contest marketing strategy' is a critical driver to the success of your sales incentive campaign. To put it simply, the goal of the campaign is to drive greater returns through the qualification period by communicating to and motivating the contest participants. In this episode, our host, Jeff Naue, Special Projects Marketing Lead, connects with Anne Zambrano on the very interesting topic of incentive contests and marketing strategies around them. A good contest is always aligned with the growth objectives of the organization or department. So, ultimately the objectives of the campaign are to keep the contest top of mind, “move the middle” as we like to say, and drive performance. Anne Zambrano is the Marketing & Communications Lead for M&IW. In her position, Anne partners with our sales, marketing, and incentive travel teams to develop impactful marketing communications, incentives contests, and sales campaigns for our client programs. Tune in to our interview with Anne Zambrano to hear why organizations need to develop a 'contest marketing strategy' and the role that marketing campaigns play in delivering investment returns. For more information: We have written several blogs on this topic that can be found at www.meetings-incentives.com. Additionally, our team is always available for a conversation to discover and present a variety of ideas that can impact the marketing and communications of your sales incentive contest. Finally, we are releasing an Incentive Contest Marketing Guidebook in the near future, so make sure you are subscribed to our communications to receive the guidebook when it is released.
