According to North Olmsted Police Detective Sgt. Matt Beck, the suspect, 32-year-old Bionca Ellis, was at the Volunteers of America store, which is a thrift shop adjacent to the grocery store, where she obtained some sort of kitchen knife. It's unclear if she paid for it or stole it. Ellis then left the store, walked over to Giant Eagle, located in the 27000 block of Lorain Road, just after 3 p.m., and approached the 38-year-old mother, who was pushing her 3-year-old Julian Wood in a grocery cart as they were nearing their vehicle. Ellis allegedly stabbed the woman and Julian multiple times and walked off. The entire attack unfolded quickly, Beck said. (Click Here for Full Article)

In the latest episode of our This Week in the CLE podcast, we discuss a tax cut for everyone, diverting more public dollars to electric companies, a ray of light for the movie industry, continuing distress at the Cuyahoga County jail, momentum for abating lead paint in Cleveland and Troy Smith’s spirited defense of his ranking of top 1980s albums. The weekly podcast is a review and analysis of the news by the people who bring you that news, the reporters and editors at cleveland.com. We also talk about the: - way President Donald Trump got ahead of himself in claiming a victory at Lordstown, - latest on the battle to redraw Ohio Congressional districts without the gerrymandering, - coming removal of Brecksville dam on the Cuyahoga County river, - former federal prosecutors in Ohio who say Trump obstructed justice, - challenge of treating Lake Erie like it’s a person, - lessons for Cleveland in St. Louis’ failure to consolidate governments, - Parma pit bull ban, - move to abolish Columbus Day in Cleveland, - effort to shrink Cleveland City Council - Lake Erie’s record water level, and - the solution to the mystery of North Olmsted. Join me as I host discussions with columnist Mark Naymik, editors Laura Johnston, Jane Kahoun, Mike Norman and Mark Vosburgh, data expert Rich Exner and reporters Courtney Astolfi, Eric Heisig, Mary Kilpatrick, Pete Krouse and Anne Nickoloff. We wrap up the discussion by visiting with pop culture writer Troy Smith, who says Purple Rain is the best 1980s album. His editor strongly disagrees. There was something eerie about this situation out of Ohio that was putting some residents on edge: in the small town of North Olmsted -- a suburb west of Cleveland -- people were finding that their garage door openers and vehicle key fobs were no longer working. The New York Times reported that the complaints began to surface in late April when about a dozen residents in either North Olmsted or neighboring community Fairview Park alerted authorities of their problems… which may be a low representative sample if you consider how few people probably report garage door problems to the police. The local NBC affiliate took on the task of sniffing out the cause, hiring a retired engineer to use a spectrum analyzer to survey the area. When that yielded no clues, local electric and cable service providers all did some sleuthing of their own. When a city councilperson alerted the community that they’d discovered the cause, it turned out to be something nobody really expected: the mysterious frequency was apparently coming from the home of a local inventor. The man, whose name was kept confidential, had built the equivalent of a homemade Ring security system that would alert him if someone approached his home while he was tinkering in his basement workshop. A “volunteer electrical expert” had homed in on the frequency and knocked on the man’s door in order to inform him he’d been unwittingly disrupting access to cars and garages for weeks. After he disabled the system, the conspiracy theories could be laid to rest and life in sleepy North Olmsted probably got just a little less exciting.
Our 27th episode is recorded from Jordan’s 8th-floor, luxury apartment in North Olmsted! With a view of the gorgeous North Olmsted skyline, which features Great Northern Mall and Walmart, the boys started the episode off discussing the beer of the week, which was Sibling Revelry’s Ohio Native Festbier. The first topic of the night, our Top Five, deals with heartbreaking sports memories. Jordan, who’s not a native Clevelander, focuses on Houston teams and Tottenham Hotspur, while Jimmy and Dan give their top five saddest Cleveland sports moments. Buckle down, folks — this one gets really depressing really quickly. We then transition into the LOTL Poll of the Week, which has to do with the Browns: do you think the Brown’s look better or worse after the first two games? Around 80 percent of Facebook and Twitter followers said they feel better about the Brown’s situation after two weeks. After that, LOTL reviews the agonizing Browns’ loss to the Saints on Sunday, the disaster of Zane Gonzalez, the Josh Gordon trade, and then they preview the Browns – Jets game on Thursday night (9/20/18). We conclude by previewing some fun events in Cleveland coming up soon, including IngenuityFest, Ohio City Street Festival, and the Solon Fall Festival. As always, follow us on social media (Facebook, Twitter and Instagram at @thelotlpodcast) and give us suggestions for places to eat, drink, and hangout in Cleveland. We'll definitely give you some things to think about. SUPPORT US AND SHOP IN THE OFFICIAL LAW ABIDING BIKER STORE FOR RICKRAK! Shane and his dad Rick Riffel, a father-son team out of Huntersville, NC, have developed a unique quick detach luggage system for Harley-Davidson and Indian motorcycles. And it's the best in our opinion! In less than 10 seconds you can have your luggage off and on your Harley or Indian! And no more luggage straps slapping your paint. Those days are gone for good. The Rickrak is sturdy, yet light. Videos: Check out our YouTube Channel or this website and use the search bars to search for "Rickrak". We've done a multitude of free video reviews and installs of Rickrak products. CHECK OUT OUR HUNDREDS OF FREE HELPFUL VIDEOS ON OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL AND SUBSCRIBE! You also gotta check out Rickrak's high-quality Harley Saddlebag Safety Bolts. We've tested many similar products and we believe Rickrak's are the best out there by far. They are super high quality and used by the crew here. Beware of the cheap stock pins that hold your Harley bags on. There have been recalls and lawsuits over bags falling off over the years. And, never lose or leave your motorcycle gas cap again. If you're like me, I take it off and put it on top of the dirty pump. Yup, I've seen many biker friends leave the cap behind and they are not cheap at all to replace. Plus, you're picking up grime that can then be introduced to your fuel system. With the simple Gas Kap Keeper Magnet by Rickrak, you won't leave it behind anymore. It installs in seconds and you can then stick your gas cap to your tank, ignition, or anywhere else metal. And, it has a super awesome protective coat, so it won't scratch your paint. Listen in to this episode to get all these details and much more. The Mind Renewed : Thinking Christianly in a New World Order
This week, our guest is Pastor Dean Good of Grace Church, North Olmsted, Ohio, who joins us to discuss the mission and spirituality of the Church, and the ways in which many in the churches (including evangelicals) are being subtly misled to embrace unbiblical forms of mission and spirituality. To what is the Church called in this present Age? Is it primarily to labour for world peace and justice in the attempt to bring about the Kingdom of God on Earth? Is it primarily to experience God in quasi-mystical ways, unchecked by biblical teaching? Arguing that the Church's call is rather to focus on the preaching and teaching of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, in order to "make disciples of all nations" (Mt. 28:19) and in order "that the body of Christ be built up" (Eph. 4:12), Pastor Good warns that failing to follow the biblical path will lead to disaster. Reminding us that the so-called 'god of this world' (2 Cor. 4:4) also has plans for a "kingdom" on earth (Rev. 13), and observing how mysticism perfectly complements utopian visions of a One-World Order of "unity, peace and harmony", Pastor Good urges us all to conform our concepts of mission and spirituality to the Word of God, lest we unwittingly co-operate with the one who "poses as an angel of light" (2 Cor. 11:14).
