This morning, Joe discussed JD Vance, his book, and his challenging life, expressing hope for Vance as vice president and his potential to continue Trump's legacy. Joe then shifted to Joe Biden dropping out of the presidential race and Kamala Harris being pushed as the Democratic nominee, questioning the party's commitment to her and what kind of country she would create if elected. After a short break, Joe welcomed guest Paul Benjamin, a Conservative Christian author and consultant, to discuss the lack of masculinity in communities and ways to reignite these values. Later, Joe talked about USSS Director Cheatle stepping down, inconsistencies in the Trump assassination attempt investigation, feeling invisible, the importance of faith, and Tina Peters' upcoming trial, concluding with a prayer.

'Across 110th Street' is a 1972 Harlem crime film that contains many of the tropes of the exploitation films of the era...but it also contains incredible performances from black actors whose skills rise far above the material at hand, people like Paul Benjamin, Yaphet Kotto, Richard Ward, and Marlene Warfield. And Bobby Womack's title song was used to great effect in 'Jackie Brown', as discussed in my last two episodes. In this week's episode I use the verses and choruses to explore Bobby Womack's amazing, tragic, and incredible life story, his relationship with Sam Cooke, his struggles and his surprisingly central role in the American popular musical landscape for almost 60 years.

Our nation is going through many serious challenges. Crime and violence are out of control. Cities are devastated and falling apart. There are those fanning the flames of hatred between people of different shades of skin color. Drug abuse and drug overdoses are off the charts. Suicides are skyrocketing. Law enforcement is being tainted as being racist, bigoted, and out of control. Morals have been thrown out the window. The family unit is just a shadow of what it once was and churches today are taking a backseat to the demands of the culture. We are told the solution lies with teaching critical race theory, paying reparations, decriminalizing certain acts or behaviors, and establishing universal basic income standards.- -When did all of this start- Why are 80- of black babies born to single moms- Why are black males arrested more than white males- Why are many young black men angry and rebellious towards male authority and police officers- Why is the media fanning the flames of division- What should the church be doing- What is the solution- Is it too late-- -Paul Benjamin, Sr., joined the program to address these issues and bring to light the answers to these questions. He authored the book titled -No Child Without a Dad.-- -lifecentersglobal.com

In this episode Mark talks about one of his favourite films: the 1979 American prison action film "Escape from Alcatraz" directed by Don Siegel. Adapted from the 1963 non-fiction book of the same name by J. Campbell Bruce and dramaticizing the 1962 prison escape from the maximum security prison on Alcatraz Island, the film stars Clint Eastwood as Frank Morris - a criminal with an exceptional I.Q. who has escaped from several other prisons - who finds himself in a battle of wills with the prison warden (played by Patrick McGoohan), as well as making several acquaintances with fellow inmates - including brothers Clarence Anglin and John Anglin (played by Jack Thibeau and Fred Ward), Chester "Doc" Dalton (played by Roberts Blossom), English (played by Paul Benjamin), Litmus (played by Frank Ronzio), and Charley Butt's (played by Larry Hankin) - who all aide in Frank's eventual escape from Alcatraz. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/markthepoet/message

This upcoming weekend marks the 15th installment of the STAPLE! Independent Media Expo. And what better way to celebrate than with not one, not two, but THREE awesome guests? We've got founder Chris "Uncle Staple" Nicholas, writer and illustrator Monica Gallagher, and writer, editor, and supermodel Paul Benjamin. Chris, Paul, and Monica chat about how STAPLE! has changed over the past 15 years – though the spirit of the convention has remained the same since being founded in 2005 – and what they like about the event, including a special guest that’s coming to this year’s event (fans of The Adventure Zone should GET EXCITED). It also sounds like the physical STAPLE! program is perhaps the coolest program in the existence of programs. Additionally, the trio chats about the importance of networking at events and tips for breaking into the comics industry, whether you’re more interested in art, writing, or a combination of the two. And Chris and Paul share their favorite playlists both for driving and working. It's a jam-packed episode full of goodies, so tune in! If you're a fan of this episode, I'd appreciate a hearty five-star review on Apple Podcasts. It helps lil' ol' podcasts like this one get heard by more people. See you at STAPLE!

Strange Country co-hosts Beth and Kelly talk about the first American-born female messiah and this one isn't murdery or gross as some of the others they've profiled. Randy and Grant don't much care for 'Agents of SHIELD'. So, when listener EJ put in a special request that they discuss the 5th season, they brought in some special guest help from Paul Benjamin (comics writer - 'Disney Princess', Spider-Man, Hulk, Wolverine, and more) and Joe Parsons (Master Pancake, Stag Comedy) to debate the potential merits of the MCU red-headed stepchild. They also get to discuss the great season 2 return of 'Legion' and the pilot premiere of 'Krypton'. It's a fun one! Tune in!
