Harriet Frost is a force of energy, endurance, and entrepreneurial grit. From completing the notorious Arc of Attrition 100-mile ultra twice, to directing multiple trail races, to co-founding a menstrual cup company focused on sustainable period care for athletes — Harriet is redefining what it means to pursue hard things, in business and on the trail. In this episode, Harriet shares her journey from growing up in Cornwall to discovering a love of endurance sport later in life — despite hating running at first. With no formal coaching, she's built her own training strategy based on experience, discipline, and gut instinct — and it's taken her to the finish lines of some of the UK's most brutal ultra events. We also dive into the founding of Sea+Flo, a period care company created by women, for women, aiming to empower people to better understand and manage their menstrual health during sport. Harriet speaks candidly about the mental strength required to train alone, run in the dark, and manage periods while racing, as well as her mission to bring more female voices to the forefront of adventure and endurance media. This is a conversation about grit, vulnerability, and showing up — again and again — even when the path ahead is long, muddy, and uncertain. Sometimes you meet people and you can tell they will have some good stories. I met Andre at the Ohio Backyard Ultra (OBU) because we were crewing different runners. Our runners went on into the second day so I had the chance to chat with Andre and I wanted to have him on the podcast to talk about his style of backyard ultra that he race directs in Canada, along with race directing a race similar to the Barkley Marathons that Lazarus Lake puts in in Frozen Head State Park each spring. The races are very similar, but also some notable differences. We share all the secrets that Andre is willing to share in the episode and hope you enjoy it!Bush Bitches Backyard (BBBackyard) website: https://www.bbbackyard.com/BB Trail Running Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/bbbackyardultra

Gordi Eaton is a legend in the ski industry, and while many people don't know his name, because he was born in 1939, he's had a huge impact in the development of modern ski technology. Before he was involved in helping to bring sidecut, shape, top shape, rocker, and so much more tech to the table, Gordi was an Olympian on the first Bob Beattie-created US Ski Teams that featured athletes like Bill Marolt and Buddy Werner. This week Dale Earnhardt Jr. has a conversation with a man he thought he'd never get to interview, longtime NASCAR Race Director David Hoots. In this episode, David opens up about how he made decisions in the booth, his thoughts on current NASCAR officiating, including the Austin Dillon penalty, his toughest calls in the booth, and how things ended at NASCAR.That leads to the reason Dale didn't think this interview would happen. He assumed David would be working in the control tower booth for many years to come, and that seemed to be the case until a cluster of NASCAR layoffs in January of 2019. After a run of nearly two decades, stretching back to the fall Rockingham event on the 1988 schedule, David's reign as chief steward for the Cup Series came to an end. The story of how David came to be in the booth starts in a likely place: Bowman Gray Stadium. David explains that his family began taking him to Saturday night races at the famed bullring when he was young, and he caught the racing bug at an early age. He initially took a position scoring cars in trade for free admission to the races, but his fascination with the race cars pushed him to wander into the world of technical inspection. From Bowman Gray, he began working at NASCAR regional events for the Sportsman and Modified divisions before the series were organized into their respective tours. He would stay on with the NASCAR Busch Grand National and the Winston Modified Tour before he caught the eyes and ears of Les Richter, who asked if he'd like to give the NASCAR Cup Series a shot. That day came on October 23, 1988 at Rockingham, where Rusty Wallace brought home his third victory in a row on his way to a second-place points effort. What followed for David Hoots was an illustrious career that saw him become one of the most revered officials in the modern era of NASCAR.21+ and present in North Carolina.
